Project Cars was one of the very first third party games to be announced for the Wii U, which was almost 3 years ago. The game is now finally nearing completion, and is scheduled for release later this year. But not on the Wii U — Wii U owner will have to wait until early 2015 to play the new racer. One of the reported reasons for the Project Cars Wii U delay is that developer Slightly Mad Studios needs more time to “adjust to the Wii U”. Publisher Namco Bandai has gone on record saying that the reason for the Wii U delay is that they want to make sure the game “delivers on our vision”. Here’s the full Namco Bandai statement, which reads like it was auto generated by some PR software: “We’re committed to delivering an exceptional and unique experience for racing fans on Wii U and for this we kindly ask our devoted and passionate Nintendo fans for a little more time in order to ensure the game delivers on our vision of being the most authentic, beautiful, and technically-advanced racing game on any platform.” See also: Check out this new footage from the Project CARS developers What we’ve seen of Project Cars so far has been impressive, and it’s easily one of the best looking racing games we’ve ever seen. However, we rarely see any Wii U footage of the game. Hopefully the wait will be worthwhile. Project Cars launches this November on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Check out the recent E3 trailer of the game below. I have quite the back log! Daniel Gonzalez It’s normal for people to be upset about a delay, but it is necessary to ensure you’re getting a quality product. I don’t know whether or not I buy their story, but I’ll just give them the benefit of the doubt. Besides, it’s not like Wii U games are the only ones getting delayed this year. Gamer Mania Yeah, just look at how well that turned out of Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines 😀 Such master pieces that took time and effort into making each of those games….. I know, I’m joking but yeah, some games actually benefit more from a delay than others. Daniel Gonzalez Duke Nukem Forever was just a total mess due to being developed by several developers over a decade. Gearbox should have scrapped it and started from the ground up, but I did appreciate them trying to clean up the crap. I’m confident that the next installment, will be far better. I always saw Aliens games as subpar. Lol. Never played Marines, but from reviews and just hearing fan feedback, I’m glad I never did. Gamer Mania Aliens was also done by Gearbox…. so yeah… I would blame them. Magnus Eriksson I heard it got som patches making it better. What do you think of them? I boycotted it all together. abe Recently gotten it for free, first thing you notice there is 4 listed development studios along side gearbox, i suspect like Duke this over its 7 year cycle has had a few different devs. there have been some patches and doesn’t suck as much and when its actually an aliens game is can be great but it tries being cod with human enemies and no patching can fix that suck fest. But then again I got it for free so it’d have to be utterly terrible for it to not feel “worth it” If the Wii U version had used the pad for the motion tracker it would of been really immersive Daniel Gonzalez I don’t blame them too much for Duke Nukem, since it wasn’t developed by them alone. As for Aliens, yes, that one is their fault entirely. Rinslowe Well we can all debate clearly hindsight right? Whats to say we’re not seeing the same thing now in action? History would dictate there’s a 50/50 chance of this being true on face value. But given the details we do know. It’s a little hard to swallow the blsht. Why would a company reveal a simultaneous release date for all platforms only a few short works ago. To then suddenly claim development set backs for one platform? What happened in the development of that game for Wii U from then to now that was so game breaking to receive an undefined delay into 2015? They can’t even put a ballpark date on it… Obviously it’s on hold. It’ll get picked back up again after the other versions release. Nothing so elaborate as gamepad integration issues or development difficulties per se’. It’s just a different beast. Needs time. Won’t sell as many copies as the other versions anyway, lets be honest. And therefore no longer a priority. Simple. Magnus Eriksson nah, but this story is bs Gamer Mania So in other words “PS4 and Xbox One will get the beta whilst the Wii U gets the real final product”….. I’m looking forward to it then! 😀 matthew garcia Actually they probably stopped development on Wii u so that they could put all there focus on ps4 and Xbox one. You have to remember the current trend is that Wii u gets the shit version and the other consoles get the good version. That’s just how its been so far Lusunup That is exactly what I was thinking. It`s like ubisoft with rayman legends but the opposite. matthew garcia Yeah everyone is dissing Wii u. It’s a great console but I think Nintendo thought the success of the original Wii would just carry over with same formula, underpowered and gimmicky controller that hardly gets utilized properly and it backfired on them Shane Michaels Ok seriously, can we all stop dissing the gamepad already? I have a friend, who said that the gamepad looked terrible to him, and that it was bulky and awful. He bought a Wii U, and guess what? He said he loves it now, and the controller is perfect to him. matthew garcia I never said I hated the controller, I actually like it. My point is it didn’t do Wii u any favors for developers. It’s become more of a hindrance Shane Michaels Well, to them, maybe, but to me, it seemed like an advantage. I would want a controller that doubles as a handheld, and I’d imagine that it would be more work, but it would be a much cooler feature. Besides, Xbox Smartglass, Kinect, and Remote Play with the Vita is probably just as much, if not more of a hassle. Nintendo could literally make a gaming PC for their console, and they still probably wouldn’t get 3rd party support. matthew garcia I totally agree but ps4 and Xbox one now feature the camera and Kinect as extra features. Ps4 didn’t force the product upon people. If Nintendo was not gonna utilize the controller for hardly anything they should have left it as an extra accessory, leaving the developers the option to use it. They would probably would of had an easier time getting games done on time that way Daniel Gonzalez I believe most developers don’t really care for the gamepad. It being the focus of the Wii U, only hinders support. I suppose people can call that lazy, but I see it as preference. matthew garcia I agree. Did Nintendo even give this idea initially to developers so they would know what there dealing with? Daniel Gonzalez Nintendo as secretive as they are, I doubt it. ben They had a huge E3 show real with all the third parties praising the game pad and the wii u, before the console releases. The third parties just fooked nintendo. Daniel Gonzalez If it was on par in hardware, it probably would have plenty of third party. The problem being, will Nintendo fans buy third party? That’s the real question. Even in the past with great third party support, sales just weren’t there. These days, fans have been conditioned to buy Nintendo games. Yes, a lot of third party games on Nintendo have been terrible ports, but going by history, it probably wouldn’t have sold well despite the quality. Agree to disagree in these arguments. Andrew Clear Nintendo fans will buy 3rd party, the problem is that 3rd party started releasing garbage games and ports to the Wii, they didn’t sell well, and a lot of developers pulled out. Then they started the same crap with the Wii U, and the same result. Plus, they want to code for the consoles that have the most buzz, and install base (although, xbox has the lowest there) and also, since the PS4 and Xbox One are almost clones of each other, with almost the same hardware, it isn’t hard to make games cross platform for them. Guess the only thing that will determine the fate of this gen, for gamers that is, is which system has the best exclusives. You will need a Wii U and either PS4 or Xbox One to really enjoy this gen. Rinslowe “PS4 and Xbox One are almost clones of each other” More or less. And what did Sony and MS’ little experiment in cloning really achieve for the industry this generation, for consoles? Nothing more than entitled developers/ studios and publishers all looking to tell us how to “think” about gaming. Like Pavlov’s dogs. Or what I like to call the; Cliff Bleszinski effect, lol or just god complex for short. Shane Michaels Sure, sure. But, I’m just saying, they wouldn’t probably get 3rd party support, for whatever reason, because like you said, the fans may not buy it. Or cause it doesn’t “fit the demographic, and we aren’t willing to make games that don’t center around putting bullets in your friends.” Or, some other reason. It really varies. Rinslowe It’s not just about being “on Par”. It would need to be a similar architecture, it would need to not have a stigma about it with sales and install base. And it would need Nintendo to play the game like Sony obviously have. Ever wondered how they managed to get footage to E3? Only official PS4 footage out there. They did what they’ve been doing and gave the studio incentive to prioritise. Nintendo have publicly stated they have no intention to play that game. So no surprise that since Bandai Namco shows up on the scene, things get a little status quo in that area. Fans aren’t conditioned to “buy” Nintendo games Gonzalez it’s simple logic really. People buy Nintendo systems first for their IP. They also know that those titles have received the best standards that Nintendo has to apply to the development of those titles. It’s almost a “safe” bet on spending your hard earned dollars. If the third party companies released games that were performing according to Wii U’s capabilities instead of missing DLC, features, online and without framerate issues (more to do with differences in architecture than power) then public perception would be different and games would do better. There is a phenomenon where the install base on Ninty consoles needs to be much higher than other systems for third parties to succeed because first party titles hold a priority. But that is not a conditioning at all. Sony as a comparison sells well with third party and first party titles. And that’s an achievement in itself. Their first party titles grew at the same time though. Unlike Nintendo’s that have for the last 30 years built up a following and an expectation within that fanbase. It’s brand recognition just as much in that respect as well as being a “safe” bet on investment. Gimped ports in whatever capacity are “not” good investments… Mercurio2054 i think you’re right, i fact lots of Nintendo gamers have ps3 or xbox or the 3 of them, if i have tow of them and one game come with all the things to just one i will buy that version. i have only a wii u, but if i have a ps4 do you think that i will buy Protect Cars for wii u? no way.. at the end all that decisions affect the sales for Nintendo Consoles from wii to this days. matt It is on par Hardware wise it’s a mith that wiiu can’t keep up with the other 2 and their mobile cpu’s ect please stop with this nonsense… matt 3rd partys are sucking off Sony ect because back in the day Nintendo had 3rd partys by the balls now their just getting bk at Nintendo simple……they can dedicate resources to xbox1 even though its being outsold by wiiu on Amazon Uk and almost every country for like 2 months now or more give or take,it makes me laugh it’s more of a case of 3rd partys scared the game will sell best on wiiu so they do this to prove a point that doesnt exist that Nintendo consoles don’t sell 3rd party games ?? Sonic racing on wiiu outsold all other consoles worldwide combined ?? basically it’s these experiments that started this wiiu delay rubbish…i think alot of 3rd partys will go bust this gen just relying on Sony/Microsoft to sell their games…. Andrew Clear No different than the DS. Seems that must be a hinderance too. matthew garcia Well as you can see the ds had success and the Wii u doesn’t. What works for handheld may not work for console Daniel Gonzalez Very true. David Trail Devs are a hindrance themselves I can think of many great ideas to do with the game pad that enhance regular games. Mike Indie developers have stated that developing for the Wii U is easier than on steam. matt Developing on WiiU is easy as hell every dev has said so,maybe on project cars and games that need such high end visuals means you have to access the edram section which gets a little more complicated but not as much as certain devs try to describe…. DragonSilths Not underpowered. Sheesh thats so old. matthew garcia It’s a big enough gap to where when all focus goes into current gen games and not ps3 and 360 Wii u will be completely forgotten by 3rd party. The graphical gap will not help Wii u David Trail Why do they make ps3/ 360 versions? matthew garcia Cuz there still popular. The Wii came out at the same time and its long gone. David Trail The Wii U has more units sold than the Xbox One. matthew garcia I know but it’s just the way the industry is. The market for Nintendo is getting a lot smaller then it use to be matt Yes by 3 million units plus the wiiu has the most million sellers shows the wiiu actually has the most active gamers at present… Andrew Clear LOL. Except the Wii U is more powerful in all respects compared to the ps3 and 360, but yet, they make games for them (and the new systems) and leave the Wii U out. Mainly because they believe their game wont sell on the Wii U. Of course, with no one trying to sell games on it anymore, how would anyone know? DragonSilths You’re one of those people who needs their intestines ripped out and sold on the black market, cause you clearly don’t need them. They deserve to be in someone who isn’t out of touch with reality. I’ve said it a million times, I can say it again, Xbox One is roughly 33% stronger then Wii U. PS4 is roughly 50% stronger then Wii U. There is no HUGE NOTICEABLE GAP IN RESOLUTION ON THE CONSOLES. If you get out a magnifying glass yeah you will notice a difference, in which case you may as well go all the way and find out that PC rips the PS4 and Xbox One a new asshole in the “power and graphics” department. matthew garcia I can picture you crying and throwing something at your mother while you were typing that lol Daniel Gonzalez I don’t know about all that, but he sure comes off as a bit of a psychopath. matthew garcia Lol that’s where I’m getting at Daniel Gonzalez Well, do carry on then. DragonSilths What do you think I am 3 years old? No. As a 23 year old, I wouldnt shed tears over something so worthless. Daniel Gonzalez “You’re one of those people who needs their intestines ripped out and sold on the black market, cause you clearly don’t need them. They deserve to be in someone who isn’t out of touch with reality.” You’re one of those people who can sure use some therapy. Tends to happen, when one loses touch with reality. matthew garcia Well said DragonSilths Lose touch with reality? Reality isn’t even a real thing. Highly ironic I know. Daniel Gonzalez Uhm….yeah. Sure thing. matt Yep old news…WiiU has shown with lots of games its on equal footing with ps4 in graphics only devs main focus is graphics on ps4 not so much on wiiu….Zelda wiiu looks amazing best looking game by far considering open world as well wow… Rinslowe Not as powerful as PC or the other two systems is not the same definition as “under-powered”. That sounds more like something else. Wii U has enough power to run comparable ports – like PCars – when optimised properly and carefully. It’s less powerful definitely. But “under-powered” doesn’t describe the systems hardware accurately. Also the gamepad is hardly a gimmick. It streamlines a lot of the clunky aspects of traditional controllers with ease. Web surfing, menu navigation. Simple things like map-less or HUD-less gaming goes a long way with immersion. Off-tv play when seen for the simple mechanic that it is, helps to further define the gamepads worth. It’s big, a little ugly imo. Feels a little cheap in places and the force feedback is weakly implemented hardware wise/ not as responsive or subtle. But not gimmicky. Far from it. matthew garcia I don’t find it gimmicky I just going by how the developers see it. They see it as something that is just extra work for something that is not gonna make them much money. I like the controller, it was a great idea. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it lacks analog triggers Rinslowe What developers? Extra work = gimmicky? I get what you’re now saying but gimmicky doesn’t describe that situation well either. Studios just don’t want to feel obligated to make use of the gamepad for “multiplatform” titles built with traditional input methods in mind. As it usually results in a tacked on feel to the experience. Fair enough. But afaik, dev’s are “not” obligated to re-design their traditional control mechanics to fit the gamepads additional features. Gamer’s also need to wise up to this one more. Like I mentioned with HUD-less gaming. That in itself is worth having the gamepad for. Especially if you’re gaming on a genuine big screen LCD or projector etc… It’s all game. Even then. A game like Assassins Creed for eg, where technology detracts from the immersion – it’s very welcome. But in a game like say Metroid Prime series, a hud makes perfect sense… Just like a gamepad integrated game. If it’s purpose built. It just makes sense. If it’s a port from a multiplatform release. Then people should not necessarily expect too much. Given the base platforms… Kristian Kouvo PS4 & XBOXONE versions are PC ports. Wii U version needs more work and some special hacking to get it done. That’s it. matthew garcia That doesn’t sound right. Wii u was originally the lead console for the game. If anything it should have been completed first followed by ps4 and Xbox one. Face it , Wii u got the cold shoulder like always Daniel Gonzalez Sadly, yes. They’re basically making PS4 and Xbox One the focus, because they know that it’s likely to sell more on those platforms than Wii U. I don’t agree with their decision, but I understand their reasoning. David Trail Sell more with Drive Club and Forza? Somehow I think it is going to flop on those consoles. Daniel Gonzalez None of us no the future, so all we can do, is speculate. Time will tell, right? David Trail I don’t see it doing well at all. We will see, we will see. greengecko007 That’s true, but I also doubt that many people will choose to buy the Wii U version since it’s been arbitrarily delayed into 2015. It had the chance to sell the best on the Wii U, since it wouldn’t have had direct competition, but now that seems like a pipe dream. Andrew Clear Of course it will sell better on those consoles, since the majority of game sales happen in the first few weeks, and the nintendo version will be months later. It will actually sell better on the PS4 than Xbox…but you know what, it would’ve probably sold better on the Wii U than the xbox, but we will never know since the playing field was stacked against the wii u. DragonSilths PS4 and Xbox One version are ports of the Wii U version. matthew garcia There enhanced ports Dark Lord Sauron people cant blame nintendo for this delay and i dont blame slightly mad devs either but if it need to be polish up even more then ill wait for it in 2015 and we got plently of games to keep us busy till then companyoflosers ya but the wii u is the only device using actual console architecture. xb1 and ps4 are simply pc’s with a custom os designed to work with controllers and voice input. things always get developed in pc code then converted and optimised over to console unless in the past its a console exclusive. now that xb1 and ps4 are practically pc’s they are pretty much ready to load the game as soon as the pc code is finalized. the wii u has to have it optimized and tweaked till it work just right. thw wii u REALLY is the only REAL console out there. matthew garcia Sounds like a personal problem for Nintendo. This real console keeps getting last place for developers Daniel Gonzalez Consoles were born from PC. Therefore, there is no such thing, as a console architecture as consoles themselves, are a PC. Only difference is, they are limited. Rinslowe No different than fragmentation. It’s really just “different”… Mercurio2054 they’re different. don’t say that. they are a COMPUTER, BUT NEVER A PC OR FAMILIAR… well in the xbox case and the ps4 they work more like PC. BarbieOnWeed Its so fucking stupid. It would be nice to get the version for Wii U at the same time, but well…:( Andrew Clear MS probably paid them off to release the Wii U version later. They clearly know they aren’t beating Sony, so now they need to focus on beating Nintendo (since they are behind 1.8 million consoles behind the Wii U, and barely outselling the Wii U each week). matt WiiU outsells xbox1 constantly now everywhere go check Amazon uk wiiu destroys xbox1 in sales week on week and jumps ps4 every now and then. companyoflosers rayman goes against that. after ubisoft flip flopped and made it multiplatform, it still sold, played AND looked better better on the wii u than any other platform. matthew garcia One game doesn’t go against the many games that have been ports for the Wii u. If I remember right ps4 version has higher sales then Wii u version David Trail That is because the rest were really bad ports and had no exposure. Who is going to buy Mass Effect 3 when the other consoles have the trilogy? matthew garcia I agree Petri Well, there is no 100% accurate sales data. But vgchartz claims PS3 version sold 390k, Wii U 350k and PS4 160k. matt Rayman on wiiu outsold both xbox1 and ps4 combined… Rinslowe Wii U doesn’t always get a shit version but it is logical to assume all work on the platform has now stopped while they focus on PC, Xbox One and PS4. And ensure they release in Nov for those 3 systems… FutureFox Which is frightening actually to think these companies don’t understand consumer perception of goods available to them. If they constantly see and hear games are always available waaaaay before the Wii U release they’re going to invest their finite time into something that will entertain them sooner rather than later. Its basic human instinct to seek instant gratification and having early availability of goods plays into in ways it seems these gaming companies really don’t understand/consider, and that’s scary. It reminds of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. These companies want to measure the success of a game on Wii U through sales, but their meddling of release dates effects public opinion enough which effect the very Wii U sales they want to measure…..its stupid! Rinslowe I agree. Many of these gaming studios really do have limited understanding in basic marketing & sales principles. The large ones that do just don’t bother anymore. Honestly, they’ve pretty much sent a clear message to Wii U owners. And that can never be received in a positive way by rational beings. Personally as the Wii U version is now obviously an afterthought. SMS’s should just kill the Wii U version altogether. It’s going to tank. Plain and simple. People who can’t wait will have bought it already. Those that were interested Wii U only owners would have lost interest by the time it hits – no doubt with a full price tag attached as well right? – and the remaining gamers are the hardcore sim crowd? Lol Surely a minority there… FutureFox Definitely right about the price tag, lol. I don’t even own a Wii U and feel betrayed. The real reason is about the developers wanting to make money sooner rather than later. Funny that works both ways for how consumers act too, eh? The dev will earn a portion of the shares from game sales for two years. “Members will receive a share of game sales profits generated within the first 2 years after launch as compensation for their efforts, to be paid quarterly.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_CARS So in essence they will get most of their earnings for two years from the PC architecture systems and then two more years of whatever measly sales they get from the Wii U version. Its greed at its most conniving. Greed makes people see only the short term profits, and as you and I both know, ignoring the long term ramifications. Dáibhí wotshissurname Well, when asked about why they have pursued Wii U unlike others, slightly Mad reponded that they don’t comment on other people’s projects. Also, they received a crazy amount of money from crowdfunding to ensure they didn’t need to put a lot of thir own money into the game’s development. Seriously, people wer able to pay €100, 000 to get full behind-the-scenes access and attend development meetings. Plus, with NamcoBandai doing all the publishing and marketing for them in the run-up to the release, I don’t see how they can do anything other than make money of the WiiU version, no matter how small. Rinslowe None of it makes sense. And it’s a disservice to Wii U owners. That much is very true… Capt. Smoker I wasn’t really tempted to buy this game, but if I was hyped, by the time of release on Wii U, that hype would have been and gone for this kind of game, it’s what I like to call a disposable game, you might like it once but its not something you’d play again 10 years later, nobody buys these games a few months afte release, gets proven time after time, I doubt this game will even scratch 80k nevermind 100k, it’s a shame but that’s how it is. FutureFox They might as well cancel it. I feel sorry for the devs to even have to waste their time developing something practically no one will buy for the Wii U. A shallow grave as already been dug., they should just put it to rest now and get it over with. Regardless if Bamco “suggested” they release it in Nov and postpone the Wii U version till 2015, the fact that the WMD team would adopt a strategy of staggering the release of something they wholly controlled speaks volumes to the mindset of the organization. Its just another page taken from the bad management playbook. Its just such a shit storm. If they had plans before hand to include the PS4 and Xbone, why bother making the Wii U version in the first place? Maybe their heart was in the right place but someone on that team needed to be the voice of reality over how something like this would go down. Mark Graver Too bad I can’t walk into a store and hand over a piece of paper to the cashier that say “Fvck You!” and then that makes its way into the hands of the greedy bastards who stopped development on the Wii U. Capt. Smoker From a personal stand point, and I’m sure many have the same stand on it, their just not gonna buy this game, even if it was on time, nobody is buying it, I say nobody, I mean, maybe only 200k would have if it had been on time, a dust collector now it’s late to the party, 2015 offers Zelda and Xenoblade X, probably even more surprises, since the Wii U probably only made it to Nintendo fans households, I imagine the Namco money will be spent on those great games over this (probably) crappy half assed port. Rinslowe Although I personally don’t agree about the genre. I do agree on two points. Late to the party means just that. And I’ll be surprised if it scratches 80k. I think it’ll be doing well to reach 60. It may do better over time, if it’s the only sim racer on the platform “ever”. And with a healthy discount to boot… Capt. Smoker Of course everyone has different opinions, on the ps4/xb1 this’ll sell all year long, on the Nintendo platforms though, I can’t see anyone liking this, at least not enough for it to considered a money maker. Rinslowe I think it’ll be drowned out by the other consoles exclusive offerings and it’ll be lucky to sell all year there either. I also don’t believe there is much of a dedicated following on Wii U. Which is what they’ll be left with when the game releases there… Everyone else will have moved on to other interests by that time no doubt. Could be wrong, but I just don’t see this title doing anything on Wii U now except tanking. Capt. Smoker I think anyone who buys a Wii U as their lone or primary console probably does so for a reason, and it ain’t because they want this kind of game, we Nintendo fans love our simulation games ;p me and you both know this but if ya can’t farm and date lolli 18 year old farmers in a quiet village and if ya don’t got no cute characters with their little heads boppin up n down in the cars, just get outta my face mr developer, I ain’t got no money spare if you ain’t offering none of the above :p, I think there is a market for 3rd party, but it’s really either gotta be an exclusive title that fits what the fans want to a T or extremely Japanese to do really well, man y’know, I really do love the Wii U, takes me right back to the old days were almost every Nintendo game was traditional and you were too excited to wait for the next release ^^ , those good ol ps1/n64, ps2/gamecube days, where did they go?, this is the sort of feeling devs should be giving us. Rinslowe True The Clockwork Being Then when the Crew, Drive Club and Forza take away all the sales and the game only sells on WiiU and PC, the deves will be slightly mad Rinslowe I think their lack for foresight and over confidence in the Wii U version selling now hardly “at all” is just; slightly sad… gamingpalooza assassins creed iv on wii u is better then the xbox one version Petri Oh, I guess that is why Wii U version of AC 4 frame rate is closer to 20fps 99% of the game. Mercurio2054 not in my house… sorry matt What planet are u on SMS say in order to ensure the game delivers on our vision of being the most authentic, beautiful, and technically-advanced racing game on any platform.” Any platform yeah….beta version for ps4/xbox1 if you ask me them platforms have strict deadlines for release dates unlike wiiu…. ben I think they focused on the PC. Sdudyoy Developers delaying games isn’t that big of a deal for me, as I almost never get games day one (I’ve never gotten a third party game day one), but it still irritates me that they delayed it, I wish they would release it with the other consoles, now it wont sale as well on Wii U. FutureFox Maybe not day one but certainly within a month or two, maybe three. Even so, the option to buy comes sooner rather than a nebulous later. val berger not really. matt Yes he clearly says best on any platform….and why not wiiu will have the best games in the industry… Mario 3D WORLD. Pikimin 3. Mariokart 8. Bayonetta 2. Devils Third will be amazing under Nintendo’s guide. Smash bros 4. It makes sense to make it the best it can be to compete against the great games coming to WiiU,ps4/xbox1 have just ports from pc/360…. Magnus Eriksson Sniff sniff! Smells like bullshit here… MetroidZero I had chili for lunch. My bad. Matthew Stapleton Ha, thats awesome lol. TheRealTruthTeller -HERE, THE WII U WILL BE THE LEAD CONSOLE OF OUR PROJECT *Slightly Mad Announce the game will be coming to every console BUT the wii u in november” -WELL TOUGHT SHIT BRAHS, WE GOTTA MAKE A BETTER GAME FOR YALL, EVEN THO THE GAMES COMING FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE WII U im not Sligthly mad, im full mad kevin nun—- Ugh Wii U Daily is so slow on their articles, why would they put this up and completely forget to publish Slightly Mad Studios’ arrogant response in the delay stating “Our devs just need more time to adapt a WiiU version… PS4 and XBoxOne are closer to the PC version. If people want a sim race on WiiU, they’ll buy it, even in one more year… If they prefer Mario Kart…” rp17 Actually that quote came from a fan site on Facebook. So it was in no way official. kevin nun—- Yeah it wasn’t official, they even took it down. Just wished the developers or publishers would come out and say so. Emu Notice the pattern. The moment they got under a publisher, Wii U version gets delayed. Hmm coincidence? I bet you 5 bucks Namco-Bandai said that they will only support Project CARS on Wii U if they release PS4/Xbone/PC sales are big first so they changed priority accordingly. It’s a damn shame because delaying it makes it even less likely that someone will buy it. And then they will blame Wii U for the poor sales even though it was their decision making that doomed the sales. allvalve The hype for project cars is so high, a delay for ALL platforms would have given even more time to market the game and release all versions on the same day almost guaranteeing number 1, so the response is questionable. There has been a lot of anger towards Slightly Mad on this latest news, much in the same way that UBIsoft have taken flack for the delay of Watchdogs, but to turn it around, perhaps Nintendo’s stance towards 3rd parties needs to be addressed: In the Gamecube era, Nintendo wanted a $7 royalty per game as opposed to $4 for PS2, and $3 for Xbox, it may be the case that these companies require a larger user base on Wii U than PS4/XBX1 to get the same money back. Slightly mad would be receptive if Nintendo stepped up and offered a few million dollars towards the marketing drive in exchange for launch parity. Nathan C. Why can’t they just delay all versions of the game? I thought Microsoft had a policy for all versions of the game to be released at one time (says Ubisoft for Rayman Legends). At first, I was looking into this game since the developer was so positive on the Wii U. But the delay turns me off. Why can’t the Wii U get any third-party games on time? Then developers criticize the system for not getting the game sold. WE. DON’T. CARE. ABOUT. MONTH. OLD. GAMES. allvalve See below my previous comment, it may well be Nintendo’s stance that is causing the issue. ufg Microsoft’s policy was that games for xbone / x360 shouldn’t be released later than the same title on other platforms. Maybe if Nintendo wasn’t so desperate for third parties they could implement something similar. Decker Shado For some reason, I was expecting their explanation to be more along the lines of “why? because f%^$ you, that’s why.” Maybe that’s just because that’s how it feels when they ban you from their facebook page for asking for equal treatment. Dunno. mario54671 I don’t understand why these become news stories. “X developer explains why their game was delayed.” The answer is ALMOST ALWAYS “We needed more time to make the game better.” It’s never interesting and thus does not deserve its own story (Whether they really meant what they said or not). Unless, of course, you’re Ubisoft. Then the answer is, “Oh that game? Yeah, it’s finished. We’re holding it back right now, though. It won’t make money for us at the moment.” leo No mother fuckers I won’t take that shit as an “excuse”. This is the worst delay ever ! Worse than Rayman and Watchdogs COMBINED!!! Shame on Slightly Mad we wanted our version on the date we were given not a year later! WTF! FUCK NAMCO Screw Slightly MAD DragonSilths Should have delayed EVERY VERSION, or just the Xbox One and PS4 versions. zoohero How about they delay it on all platforms so all versions of the game have the same chance. Petri That’s what Ubisoft would do, herp derp. David Trail We are a bunch of c%nts end of story. Deal with it and we don’t care about the money that a lot of Wii U fans have given to kick start the project. DC777 Too freaking late, plus it’s not your game therefore place to say anything Namco. Project Budget Bin commence. BarbieOnWeed And again, we, the Wii U owners, get fucked. blahblahblah Don’t be so dramatic. Would you prefer a rushed release just to have it on the same day? This is not Ubisoft, it’s a small indie team and they are doing everything they can to get it ready. BarbieOnWeed “Dramatic”? Indie or not, this is not the first time this happens, and I´m sure it will not be the last. Do you think people will pay full price for Will U then Ps4 and Xbox are cheaper? This will hurt the Wii U. Just look at Watch Dogs. I´m 100% sure it wont sell as good then it comes out for for Wii U as it would it it was released at the same time as every other versions? blahblahblah Nobody knows how long the delay is going to be yet. Hopefully it won’t be more than a couple of months and I hope the gamers that planned to support it will still support it because there is no big conspiracy behind it. SMS aren’t owned by a publisher – they want it out on the WiiU as much as we do and they are trying to make it the best it can be. I am a member of WMD and know what is going on behind the scenes and SMS are breaking their balls to get this game out, and with the WiiU being so different it is genuinely just taking more time. The game still isn’t even complete on any platform, so for them to have it completed and then ported to the WiiU and then make the changes needed for the unique experience the WiiU is going to give is obviously going to take extra time. I do understand the anger, but this anger is based on the standard practices by the large publishers and honestly doesn’t apply here. BarbieOnWeed This may be just me, but then games like Shovel Knight (not in Eu), Watch Dogs (delayed) Rayman Legend (delayed), there are others. I just want the games get release at the same time, this relay hurts the Wii U. blahblahblah Yeah I totally agree as these usual circumstances are all based on potential profits – the only thing that matters to gaming publishers! Which was why WMD was formed so we can get away from that bull. Unfortunately though reality is still held to schedules and with the WiiU being so different to the other platforms something had to give. Believe me though, I have seen early screenshots from internal builds running on the WiiU and it looks awesome. It will be here soon, and it will rock! 🙂 FutureFox So enlighten me as I don’t know the full story. Why would WMD seek a publisher if it wasn’t done with all builds of the game? Was the issue funds? Development resources? Both? As I understand it some time ago WMD was seeking a publisher. Most would take that to mean the game was done in all its forms and just needed to be distributed through proper channels. blahblahblah SMS didn’t seek a publisher, that’s the whole point of them opening WMD as 70% of it was invested by gamers. Namco are purely distributors. It has been built on PC which started in 2011, the game still isn’t complete on the main build now and it will go right to the last minute until it is. Ports to the XB1/PS4 are running alongside but these don’t require any real specific changes beyond performance tweaks compared to the PC build. Work did start early last year on the WiiU but as they’re a relatively small dev team they were stretched to capacity so I guess something had to give and as the WiiU version requires a lot more attention it was decided to put all their resources into it once everything else was complete. These aren’t their words btw as they do still struggle with NDA’s so can’t tell us everything – but they say what they can when they can. Rinslowe So all the reasons I mentioned have been reiterated here by you now… Funny how that works huh. In other words according to you, they opened WMD as 70% of investment was provided by gamers. How much of that was from Wii U only owners. Do you have the stats? So work started earlier last year as I also mentioned here and in other posts and yet due to differences in architecture. Basically because it needs more work. The studio has decided to put their energy and time where it is best served for Nov release which is PC/ Xbox One and PS4. Putting all the resources into it being a small team to do so. Also means Wii U is on hold until after they’ve completed those other versions. Or am I missing something here? Care to get the studio to back up what you’ve been saying, lol? I doubt that they’d be stupid enough to go on record with that excuse… BrokenGamer You miss the best part of all his BS the fact that they have been releasing by his accounts false info on the wii u version they were talking about the wii u version more than a year ago and how well it was going. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/04/slightly_mad_reveals_project_cars_wii_u_features So I’m sorry you are just talking shit at this point they said that they started on wiiu version in 2012 so either they were talking shit you are or anything to do with wmdcars is all bollocks. Rinslowe Sorry to disappoint, but it was in concept stage in 2012. Pretty sure it went to development in 2013… Also pretty certain that article linked says more or less the same thing… BrokenGamer But is that not part of the development even if it’s in the early planing stages it’s still development. Im not trying to be an ass here but as soon as they went into preproduction development started. Rinslowe No way to really tell if what we’re seeing from that time was full on focus group, pie chart crackers n cheese. Or just a Sunday get together hashing out an unfiltered wish list so no, not really. BrokenGamer ok how about they announced that wiiu was getting the game in 2012. Now I don’t know about you but the project started for WiiU before that announcement was made, ergo project management 101 would state plan ahead and if one build needs more work maybe manage the project without your head in the sand and a thumb up your ass! Rinslowe I don’t really care to argue semantics. It’s a difference of opinion between concept/ official conceptualisation and actual development. So what you call people out on talking “shit” as you put it. Who cares what you think? I don’t. And you can’t even articulate a definitive explanation to back up your opinion. Nothing in that article proves your opinion to be correct. Get the point? You can take your understanding of project management 101. And put it with who gives a “shit” 101… BarbieOnWeed I hope so, because I want the game to do well. And what comes from a person what usually only play arcade racers. Don´t like realistic racing games. BrokenGamer The noise of the coffers was too loud to resist how shallow how very modern and corporate why the fuck should we care about WMD any more you have shown yourselves to be full of shit. Put off the Wiiu version and work on ps4 and xb1 it’s too hard to manage the project properly boo hoo 0 fucks given for such a lame excuse as that. BrokenGamer I hoped that WMDCars were gonna be different than the companies they worked for in the past. But i guess when you work with assholes you become an asshole. If anyone thought with a press release about the release date was the best way to tell wiiu owner they just got fucked they are deserve a special award and a helmet to wear lest they hurt themselves. David Trail This game is going to fail big time with Forza and Drive Club on the other consoles. It had a chance on the Wii U imo. jonen To defend SMS and Namco a little bit, the Steam OS(Linux) version is delayed to 2015 as well, so at least Wii U owners arent the only ones who miss out. although, the linux version was probably the one expected to sell the least(im getting it though). i have a slight feeling that the team put a lot of effort into the PS4/XO versions as when they decided to jump to 8th gen(you know what i mean) and just left the Wii U version without attention and when they went back to the Wii U version, they didnt have time to finish it. either way, the game had better be good when its finally out, Wii U owners should get some free DLC too MujuraNoKamen As disappointed as I am about the delay, as long as they’re not cutting features and we get the best possible game then fine. And at the end of the day they’re a business and developing for Wii U is a big risk thanks to the god awful sales of games. So yeah it’s understandable they give PS4/XBO some attention. As long as we get a good game not a half assed port then fine by me 🙂 DragonSilths Yet the PS4 and Xbox One versions are PORTS of the Wii U version so how they could be done sooner is beyond me. they have been in the works for like a year while the Wii U version nearly 2 years. blahblahblah What on earth are you talking about!?! This game has been built on PC – since 2011 – BEFORE the WiiU was even released. Work only started on the WiiU early last year. SMS are a comparatively small dev team and have been working their asses off to hit this release schedule. They have plenty of love for the WiiU but it will take a lot more time to implement the different features that the platform will use and make it as good as it can be, it’s a very different system to the other consoles and will take a lot of balancing. Would you prefer they just rush it out the door to hit the schedule with a bodged release? Because that’s what the big publishing companies would have had happen. I do know what I am talking about as I am a member that has also put a good few thousand pounds into the project and I have total faith in SMS. DragonSilths So? Zelda Wii U has been in development for 4 years already…games are in development before a console released. Project Cars was ORIGINALLY A Wii U, PS3, and 360 game, NO PC VERSION. Then PS3 and 360 was dropped leaving Wii U alone briefly, then they added PC, 1 year later they added PS4 and Xbox One. As for the game being in the works years ago…EARLY DEV KITS did you forget those existed? Herp da derp. And no I don’t want a rush game, I want EVERY VERSION DELAYED. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR BULLSHIT THAT MAKES THE WII U VERSION LOOK LESS APPEALING. NOBODY BUYS A 3RD PARTY WII U GAME MONTHS LATER. blahblahblah Zelda was not a 3rd party game! SMS are a small studio, they did not get special privileges of early dev kits. I could give you the exact week the first WiiU build notes were added to the build logs and that was early in 2013! No PC version? Please show me ANY source where you got this information – it is first and foremost a PC title! You are the only herp da derper. DragonSilths Just look it up. Rinslowe “SMS are a comparatively small dev team and have been working their asses off to hit this release schedule” I’m sorry what was that Wii U release date again? Your bias and apologetic stance towards this game is sad really… Alejandro A They are not ports of each other. The studio said the PS4/XB1 builds are closer to the pc build because of their similar architecture. The Wii U uses a completely different architecture (PPC) that takes long longer to code for. However, PPC is more efficient at utilizing hardware. It doesn’t mean that the Wii U version is going to have a better visual fidelity of the other versions but that we’ll get a game that takes better advantage of the hardware. So this isn’t some shoddy port of a 360 version (where they just transfer the same code) like a lot of ports have been. With that being said, I totally get the disappointment of the delay but I don’t think its fair that people are heaping so much negativity based on assumptions that are roused by previous 3rd party decisions ( like EA and Ubisoft). Note, I’m not a programmer. Information from above I got from reading/research. DragonSilths A guy of mine, is a programmer (My lead programmer to be exact) It’s not that difficult to code for the Wii U. It’s all jibberish to me, but as he put it, “If you learn the shit, it just gets faster and faster to do.” He could port over something like GTA 5 on Wii U just over a month. Now that would never happen cause he doesn’t work at Rockstar, but the point is the Wii U is easy to program on at least for him. My skills are in design not programming so I take his word for it. Alejandro A Yeah, but its the studio’s first Wii U game. They aren’t going to be master’s of the hardware right out of the gate. x86 (pc,xb1,ps4) takes less coding and the developers have still taken like 2 or 3 years for the PC version. It’s also not just about porting things over but optimizing a build. Saying its easy to code is relative to what you’re doing. The point here is that neither me or you or anyone has all the specifics here, only SMS. As I’ve stated elsewhere, this was a crowdfunded game that includes Wii U owners. To think SMS is purposely trying to screw over the Wii U sales (which is what some people think) of this game is based on a weak assumptions and it doesn’t make any sense for them to do that. If it turns out to be true and the Wii U version is dud then oh well. They did it to themselves. Once again, its sucks to be disappointed but I don’t get all the raging over a game. Seriously, all the negative twitter traffic alone is enough to paint a bad picture of nintendo fans. The worst part of it is that’s its based on assumptions and people projecting all the EA/Ubisoft frustrations when the studio behind this game is neither one of those companies. In short, wait first and if the rumors are true then rage later when their is evidence. BrokenGamer So you are saying the have no sofware engineers in the company that can program in unity/C#/nintendo net framwork HA ha ha ha c’mon man what the. If only i could be arsed to insert bender here it would go so well. You know what else was based on ppc and had similar coding rules Xbox360 and yes you guessed it ps3 two consoles those developers worked on for a very long time…but hey this is the internet lets not let research get in the way of spouting bs i know i never do. (and if you are wondering yes i am at war with proper grammar). Mercurio2054 thre’s a way to make a crowdfunded to push the game to the same date? MujuraNoKamen I thought the PS4/XBO versions were in development longer than that but anyway. Those versions are easier to develop and more likely to sell better so they have to take priority. Why would they delay PS/XB versions for the sake of releasing alongside the Wii U version. The Wii U version is still the full game so it’s not that big of a deal. And I hate to say it but maybe if Wii U owners actually purchased games then developers would be a lot more positive. DragonSilths If we didnt get getting bullshit, we would buy it, Wii U version of Project Cars was will suffer lower sales now with the delay. MujuraNoKamen But that doesn’t make it a lesser game. If people are refusing to buy this game due to low sales, isn’t that just making the problem worse. BrokenGamer no they are a port of the pc version please understand what port means. You can port ppc to x86 but why would you when you have an x86 version for pc to butcher down. DragonSilths Wrong. Don’t try to tell a developer what they already know. Tom Neil Really amazing games. I like also flash versio of American Racing which you can play in http://owlgames24.com/american-racing/ Krzysztof Whatever. It’s the same BS like with the Rayman, which back then I’ve cancelled my preorder and never picked this game since. It’d sell much better if released on time. What I really don’t understand is why to push XB1 and PS4 so early when more or less in the same time Forza horizon and driveclub are coming out. What they’re basically saying is “let’s sell less”. And for those two platfoms it will. The Wii U version will leave bad taste in Nintendo community and it will sell less too. This is just plain stupid. Not to mention that once Wii u version’s out, it will be already heavily discounted on all other platfoms. So if you own any of the other systems, why on earth would you buy this one?! SolarShane13 Thanks for being sane! SolarShane13 It’s a fucking racing game….. The GamePad isn’t that hard to implement. I mean, look at Mario Kart. The Wii U version will quietly get canceled. Alejandro A This is a crowd funded game by people that use different consoles, including Wii U, its not getting cancelled, unless the Studio wants to screw themselves over. FutureFox Wouldn’t be the first time a crowd funded project backed out on its word. There’s nothing legally backer could do anyway as its basically donating to a project. But in this world Money and Morals don’t see eye to eye…unless of course, money is involved. : ) Petri They already screwed over PS3 and 360 versions of the game. “Oh you wanted PS3 or 360 version of the game? Though luck, get a PS4 or Xbox One.” Andrew Clear Actually, if you think about it, this might help the Wii U version some. If they release this game during the fall, when all the big boys come out to play (AC, CoD, every other damn sequel), then the sales for the PS4 / XBox One could suffer. Also, the Wii U is going to have some heavyweights out this fall, so releasing it for the Wii U early next year, will allow it to be the only cat in town. That could help the Wii U sales. BrokenGamer Same goes for delaying ps4 and xb1 though if you follow your logic? allvalve Its more a problem of business ethics here. As an example: UBIsoft build a massive sports stadium: Sony and MS build Burger joints inside the stadium and try to outdo each other with how loud they can shout about how many burgers they are selling, and the exclusive pickle packed into the burger that month. On the outskirts of the Stadium is Nintendo’s old sandwich bar which has been successful for years. When the new stadium offered them a shop in the new Stadium, Nintendo politely declined, stating that existing customers knew the quality of their sandwiches and would keep returning, regardless of whether they were offering the biggest or best snack that month. Years pass and the Sony Burger vs MS Burger feud has got to the point where they are both selling their burgers for a loss, in the hopes of making it back on the fries, meanwhile Nintendo are ticking along selling the same old sandwiches. By fluke, just as Sony and MS are adding an extra burger to their buns for the next generation, Nintendo unexpectedly get a smash hit with the bacon and egg wrap, and go on to dominate the next 5 years of fast food. Nintendo, after years of falling sales, see their unique product triumph, and assume the quirky offering is the answer to prolonged success. Nintendo launch the unique chip and egg lasagne which comes with a spoon rather than a fork for eating, earlier than Sony and MS can release their new mega burgers thinking it would be Bacon and egg wrap 2. Sadly, the road to the stadium changed, and Nintendo was bypassed. Sony and MS burger joints released bigger and better burgers (roughly on a par) and battled the next generation burger war. Nintendo shrugs. “The old customers will keep coming back” The big spending of the burger joints meant that they got the best cheese and pickles, and the new fast food customers didn’t even consider the Nintendo Sandwich. Decker Shado Umm… that…. huh? I don’t see much of an analogue between things here…. The way I see things, there’s reputations and preception vs reality. Sony and MS have the reputation and the perception of being super-graphics-awesome with this new generation, while Nintendo has the reputation of last-gen tech. All three systems look only slightly better than last generation, but while people point at Wii U games as proof they are “last gen” they point at similar graphical fidelity on the PS4 and XBO as proof they are “next gen.” Truth be told, they are all very close in actual effective capability. Wii U more efficient, and with better in-game CPU capabilities, XBO and PS4 slightly more effective RAM, easier programming and better GPUs. But that’s not what their reputations are. Similarly, Nintendo is perceived by many as being in “last place.” They lost money for the last couple years, so.. doing terrible, right? Except even with those losses, they’ve still been doing the best, financially, of all 3 companies in gaming. The Xbox brand has never made Microsoft any money, and Sony lost a ton on the PS3, and is still losing money. (they haven’t yet shown a profit since launching the PS4) In one year, Sony lost as much as Nintendo lost in 3. Even when doing bad, Nintendo is doing the best. But that’s not what their reputations are. allvalve Actually MS did very well from the 360, enough to cover the huge losses from Xbox and still more than break even. Sony most likely just about broke even on PS3 with the sale of their share of the STI partnership, and late surge, and Playstation as a brand has made them plenty of money: PS1, PS2 and PSP were all huge sellers. I didn’t say Nintendo were in last place with Wii U, it was merely a snapshot of how they do business as opposed to Sony an MS, and the antiquated way they see things, To say “Nintendo is doing the best” is ignoring the facts: Reggie said that for each Wii U sold to break even, they needed to sell 1 game, meaning the hardware was sold at a loss, in comparison the PS4 is reportedly making $50 per unit. I’m a huge Nintendo fan (owning every console)but lets be honest here, to suggest the Wii U is anywhere near the raw performance of the PS4 is just plain wrong. Not that theoretical performance has anything to do with the quality of games. wiimenonowiiu see i rather play theses games on the wii u like ubisofts games but i dont play any now dont care to play it on my ps4 the experience is much better on the wii u but when 3rd parties do this just to give them a advantage is not right i say hold on till you have it for all 3 systems…… blahblahblah All I can say is: Thank god you’re not in charge! FutureFox Good will goes a long way. Piss of consumers and backlash will ensue. Maybe not much to make a dent in sales, but never underestimate the power of the vocal minority to derail sales prospects. Also it would be to their benefit to delay for all three so as not to be in direct competition with Forza and The Crew. blahblahblah SMS are not trying to piss anyone off, they are just trying to make the WiiU version a quality stand out version in its own right, and that is going to take a bit of extra time. I am happy they are doing this and not just shoving a 2nd rate port out the door to hit the schedule. Time will tell if it was right to release at the same time as those games but as far as I’m aware those dates were actually set after SMS decided on November, although perhaps not publicly. FutureFox Can you clarify that last paragraph about the dates? Did you mean before instead of after? BrokenGamer Stop talking shit you are doing as much damage for WMDCars as the fan made facebook page, If you still enjoy soaking up bs like a sponge good for you many gamers have seen that line from bamco and WMD many many many many many times before and guess what it stinks of shit to all of us even if it’s true the many times it has been nothing but pure shit remain in our mind. So why the hell should we believe it this time? gamingpalooza What are we waiting for? For you to tweak the same game that you already finished for the other consoles? The Wii U doesn’t need much adjustments… I’m pretty sure they are holding off for absolutely no reason just because it seems like “THE COOL THING TO DO” for certain developers/publishers. blahblahblah Are you serious? It will be using the controller as a wheel and using it’s 2nd display. It’s going to take quite a bit of its own specific development that is not used on any other platform. There is no evil conspiracy they are just trying to make it the best they can and time is running out so the delay is inevitable. RedChu I’m guessing they’re expecting the Wii U version to not sell well. This delay is probably just going to solidify that even more. blahblahblah Yes you are right, you are guessing, and incorrect. RedChu I hope I’m wrong, but how many people are actually going to wait however many months to play the game if they’ve got other platforms to play it on when it’s released? There will be people who’ll wait, but there will be people who won’t. Dark Lord Sauron i call bs on that one ive seen the polls and shows more people want the wii u version then the other console versions/not talking about pc blahblahblah Unfortunately those polls were rigged as you could vote multiple times and the WiiU gamers rallied round to beat the other consoles votes. Still, I hope it was a good/true sign of Nintendo fans genuinely wanting a real racing sim on their platform. Petri Are you 8 or something? You honestly think someone would work that hard to rig an online poll? What would stop PS and xbox fanboys doing the same? You’re saying they are better than Nintendo fanboys? Beyond a thing like that? RedChu Delays like this hurt sales. If people want a game, what’s the likelihood that they’re going to wait around for a few months to play it on one platform when they could get it on another one (assuming they have another platform to play it on) sooner? Some will wait, yes, but probably not all. TheAnimal Fleming They wanna see how it sells on ps4 and xboxone version sales good before they put it on wii u Alvaro Castañeda I dont get Nintendo fans. Just one bad news and they completely abandon what it could be a really good game on the wii u. Just stop complaining and lets see what happens. I really think this game will be awesome in the Wii U. I know most 3rd party developers havent been very supportive and I understand that, I understand them as a company, and i understand nintendo fans as a nintendo fan myself but come on!! Wii u needs support from 3rd parties and we FANS are the only ones that can make that change, perhaps the first games wont have DLC, wont be complete 100% games as in other platforms. But if we stop supporting 3rd party developers, we will be affecting Nintendo. Just trying to make a nice reasonable comment, dont get angry at me. I`m a Nintendo fan my self. Never have owned a different console other than Nintendo. FutureFox There are Nintendo fans and then there are gamers with Nintendo products along with others. Its simple supply and demand. If one console can supply it sooner, that is where your money goes. That’s the foundation of commerce. This delay on Wii U only nonsense skews Wii U out of the running so to speak (type). Alvaro Castañeda Agree Rinslowe Mainly because there are no rational reasons for the delay. Why should Wii U owners get a late to market port? I can tell you now, it was the first version in development. Gamepad integration isn’t the reason. Development in general isn’t the reason. Getting the other platforms to market first is the priority obviously., You know the ones that will make the most return for Bandai Namco and SMS’s. They have no doubt put the Wii U version on hold to do so. So absolutely Wii U owners are within their rights to complain. It’s basically a load of shyte. Should multiplatform owners abandon this game altogether though? Well, that’s entirely up to the individual. I’m considering it. Because there’s other compelling racers on the way before then. How many do I need for each platform, when it’s just as much about variety? Anyway, delaying a game because they feel other systems are more important. No matter how much we can understand their decisions from a self preservation perspective, means nothing to the platform owners that are left out. So I wouldn’t blame Wii U only owners that decide they’re no longer interested. Truth is with all the exposure and reviews online and everywhere else the game on Wii U will naturally lose steam all on it’s own from this Nov to release on the system. There isn’t even a set date in 2015. Nov is still a few months off yet. Nothing they’re saying adds up. Also, one of the dev’s tweeted that if Wii U owners really want a sim racer on the platform they’ll still buy it. This sort of misinformed logic from guys who know nothing about marketing a product is a little tragic. People might buy it. But I can guarantee half the people that were will have lost interest by the tie it releases. No matter how well it’s coded. Because it’s “late”. Other platforms have proven to be the priority is another reason. And those two factors together does not a good strategy make. blahblahblah You mean YOU have no idea what the rational reasoning is. It was NOT the first game in development and comments from clueless people like yourself spouting off rubbish just adds fuel to the fire. pCARS started in 2011 and work didn’t start on the WiiU till early last year! So maybe get your facts straight before you start getting all righteous. Rinslowe SMH. Your name reflects my response perfectly. Carry on… blahblahblah I have already in other posts on here. I am a WMD member and have been part of the project since the beginning of 2012 so I know what’s going on – and it’s nothing like the conspiracy you have invented. Rinslowe I can understand your posts a little more now that you claim to be a WMD member. So giving you the benefit of the doubt in that department I can empthasize with your outlook. It’s not a pretty sight to see Wii U fans losing interest in a late port. One that is no longer a priority. What conspiracy have I invented again? I see a port that is delayed until no certain date into next year. One that received a nov release with all other systems only two weeks earlier. A port that is obviously not a priority in any way. And you tell me I’m concocting conspiracy theories lol. I say your just angry and biased. Maybe a little frustrated… BrokenGamer And don’t forget on the backers forums many wiiu supporters have been constantly fed shit then 3months ago nothing said at all about wiiu version no matter how many times people said they were getting worried about it no questions answered no updates to the wiiu development blog……But tweets asking on dates like is it still gonna hit in november were met with a YES still november……… They have been using community members and nintendo fans for free advertising. well now that’s how you start a hate train and get fans wanting to shove the shit thrown all over them for 2 years right back down the developers throats . greengecko007 “Should multiplatform owners abandon this game altogether though? Well, that’s entirely up to the individual. I’m considering it. Because there’s other compelling racers on the way before then.” Absolutely. That’s my plan. I have no intention of buying this game now. Maybe if the delay was a month, or 2 months, I could have given them the benefit of the doubt like I normally try to do. But an arbitrary delay into 2015 just doesn’t work for me. There’s already a lot of games in 2015 I’m looking forward to (some also due to delays) and there will probably be even more once we’re actually in 2015. Rinslowe And it’s the logical thing to do right? I mean there are options. They’ve played themselves out of that list of options. Sometimes I think these studios over estimate the emotional investment gamer’s have with their content. In this case it was only ever – nicely interested to see what they could achieve with the Wii U hardware. As they advertised it so well prior to this debacle. They can never convince me that I’ll have “more” fun with PCars than I can with Assetto Corsa, Horizon 2 or Driveclub… For me it was about getting a decent sim that I can compare with PC and Wii U. It was pure curiosity. And really not more than that… The one racer that really has me wondering right now is Fast Racing Neo. Now that Shen’en are confirmed (more or less) to be supporting PS4 as a development platform with a game in the pipeline. Whats going to happen to FRN for Wii U? We haven’t even seen a scrape of footage. Looks like the Wii U’s woes are getting even more complicated. lol. greengecko007 Wow I forgot completely about Fast Racing Neo… That was announced over a year ago I think. I’m guessing whether or not it eventually comes to the Wii U depends how much they’ve actually done at this point. Either way, it’s obviously not a priority. It’s a shame, because I know a lot of Wii U owners hyped that game so much for a little while, and now it’s faded into obscurity. BrokenGamer They made some tweets about a breakthrough in their engine getting them up to 1080 and 60fps. Something about discovering registries they didn’t know existed, but still not one screen shot or anything ; ; Rinslowe Yep that’s pretty much the latest. BrokenGamer If you believe the bs fine but sorry been burned way too many times by bs pr over the years the second I smell shit I kick what ever made the stink instantly to the curb and abandon all faith I had in the product. This game will launch on pc ps4 and xb1 it will have bugs they will not make as much as they had hoped and they will keep on pushing back the wiiu release saying we need more time to fix the game for the fans that have already bought the game, or we need to finish off this DLC pack so we can make some quick cash. But we are still committed to giving wiiu fans the best racing sim experience possible please look forward to it.” Yeah I won’t be doing anything but reminding anyone thinking of getting this for wiiu how WMDCars told us all to fuck off and play Mario Kart. Daniel Carvalho As I’ve stated before, I’m tired of this: https://www.change.org/petitions/third-party-game-developers-show-respect-towards-nintendo-gamers If you have to delay the Wii U version, delay ALL versions! It’s a multiplatform title, no matter which console you’re launching it to, there’s no point on it not being simultaneous! Delaying for one platform means the hype for that title will be gone by the time it launches for Wii U, and the game will be competing against other titles that are much more hyped! And when sales for the Wii U version don’t get as high as the initial sales for other platforms, the studio will put the blame on Nintendo, the console and the fans, while it’s their fault for doing something stupid! It’s the same thing Ubisoft is doing with Watch_Dogs! When the game finally comes out everyone will have played it on other consoles, and the Wii U version alone won’t sell. But it doesn’t mean we don’t want their games on a Nintendo console, it only means the way they treat us make us invest in other consoles! “We have been TAUGHT by those very same Third Parties to not buy their games on Nintendo consoles!” RedChu If only petitions like this actually worked. Sadly, it’s clear they care more about the sales and money than they do the gamers who would play their games. Daniel Carvalho But for now it’s the best we can do. And it’s way better than doing nothing! Up until now all we could do was not get their games and pray that they would understand that we don’t want crap, but actual games. But that only led them to believing we don’t their games. It may not be meaningful to them right now, but if we get a significant number of supporters we can show them they were wrong to treat us this way all along! Petri Batman Arkham Origins was fine example: Dev: Hey, we know the game is buggy as hell, but we are not going to fix it, we are focusing on DLC. I mean, example how the sales and money is everything. Sdudyoy I really don’t care what their excuse is, now if it sales bad they will blame the Wii U and decide not to support it in the future, and if it sales good, other developers will delay their games, because they will think they can get away with delaying their game and still have it sale. Alan Dallas Namco is not the Publisher as the article states. Namco is only the distributor. PROJECTCARS is self published by Slightly Mad Studios and Crowd funded by World of Mass Development. FutureFox Release dates: The Crew: Nov 11 DriveClub: Oct (start-mid dates) Forza Horzion 2(Xbone): Sept (end) Sounds to me Bamco just wants to join the pack and is pushing for early release one similar platforms with their sort of own racing game. I imagine they will a portion of the profits. Better to sell it now than later and be technically behind the curve against next years racing titles. Which is why the Wii U version will suffer. But hey, money is money. Some people will buy that version, I guess. greengecko007 Some company, somewhere, needs someone like you to speak for them. Rinslowe That would certainly ring more true to those Wii U owners out there as far as excuses go. Real or not. But I genuinely do not think it would help them on the platform during and in the following months of release, in terms of sales. But well written all the same It’s possible that they may see some copies go as the price is adjusted. But by the time they release the game, it’s most likely to have run out of steam already. It’ll almost definitely not look or perform to the same exact level as the others any way. Although I’m expecting it will still be a looker with decent performance. Gamepad features may or may not improve the experiece – impossible to speculate. But the price tag is coming in full, that’s almost a guarantee. Just releasing late is a strategic mistake for the Wii U platform. According to the size of the team and the other platforms nearly certain to sell more. It makes perfect sense. But what does that “mean” to the Wii U owner left waiting for their version? Good luck to them, is all I can really say at this point… FutureFox Yeah, it doesn’t really matter at this point. I just wish they didn’t treat people like blinking idiots about the matter. At this point who knows what changed so drastically in mere days. Namco’s influence? The promise of additional money for focusing efforts to all x86 machines in time for racing game sales? Slightly Mad eager to make money sooner? The whole ordeal has left a sour taste in my mouth personally and I’m not getting this game for anything. Its vaporware as far as I’m concerned. Maybe my sentiments will change over time, but between now and then there are a variety of titles I can get instead. Rinslowe I think that’s the take home point here unanimously really. Even if they turned around and promised a simultaneous release date. The damage is done. Or a sour taste in Wii U owners mouths as you put it… Trust would be broken. People would expect a watered down port. If it was missing features or took performance hits the studio could also claim consumer pressure – rushing to market. I think they’re clever enough to work that one out so it’ll not likely happen. And therefore they’re now fully committed to their current course of action… Damage is done. How they think this game has any real future on Wii U since that PR nonsense hit the net, is beyond me. More likely they don’t believe it’ll do well there now at all. Better to just let it fade away, imo… Sorry to any hardcore Wii U owners, that must have it. In that case it’s coming eventually so can’t fault a dude his opinions, right… Alan Dallas You’re missing one bit of important information. SMS has had PCARS slated for release on all current platforms since last Nov. Announced well before those others had any idea of a release date and well before Namco was even. contacted about being a distributor. The plain truth of it is, we, SMS, ran out time. Something had to give. FutureFox Good luck on your endeavors. But step outside yourself and be consumer for a moment and think about the following: a) If you were really hungry would you order pizza from a restaurant that were 15 minutes away or 2 hours away? b) Do gorgeous women crave sexy swimsuit wear, dresses, or shoes that were “…soooo last season…” get what’s in style now? Let me just say I’m not a Wii U fan, or any fan, I just play games. tom This is what is going to happen. Since the Wii U version will be delayed, we will get the watered down version and it will not sell well. Then Namco like UBI and EA will say, “See here the Wii U version did not meet our expectations therefore we have no future plans for the time being”. I hate to be negative but the Wii U version will likely sell around 100 K at best. That is my prediction! Rinslowe 100k seems pretty optimistic to me. FutureFox Tekken Tag Tournament 2 sales for Wii U: 130k and that’s after a two month delay. Install base was against them here. pCARS for Wii U had a chance to join in on the early sales action as all consoles have comparable install bases. Not anymore. that guy would rather wait for a finished game later than have a broken game now. SolarShane13 Wii U had the worst Aliens version from Namco, and this game is now unfortunately a Namco game 🙁 brian This is the same article. You even quoted from the same press release. steveb944 This needed an article? It’s the same damn thing we heard last time from the past article. There’s no statement from the developer, it’s the same auto generated Namco lie. SolarShane13 I agree. The last article said the same damn thing. Wii U Daily is becoming Mario Kart Daily and “Wii U Once In A While”. nigeriangamer well i dont actually see this as a problem…they want to make sure they sell on the wiiu too.so i think its smart for them to push it to early 2015.wiiu already has tons of games to keep us occupied through out this year. SolarShane13 Until you actually research Namco. Rayman, Aliens, and Project Cars are all Namco properties. (Namco bought Slightly Mad Studios, FYI). Rayman got delayed. Wii U got the worst version of Aliens. Project Cars has been delayed. This ain’t a good sign. Sure it’s a crowd-funded game, but crowd funded projects can and have gone south. nigeriangamer aliens didnt come out on wiiu and thats a good thing, that game is horrid blahblahblah FYI Namco are purely the distributor for Project CARS. They have no say in what SMS want to do with the game. Rinslowe Correction, Wii U got the “best” version of Aliens Colonial Marines, lol. Hands down. Absence in this case, does not make the heart grow fonder. But maybe happier… 😛 SolarShane13 Wii U Daily my ass! Splatoon, Yoshi’s Wooly World, and Captain Toad don’t go to their respective pages from the sidebar navigation. FutureFox Interesting to discover this page no longer exists. However, I managed to get screen capture before hand. The facebook link used as the source for the article was taken though. So shady…. FutureFox png instead of jpg. Bruno Alexandre That facebook page was not an official one but one managed by a community member. FutureFox Community member as in directly involved with the project or a funder? Either way the message retained and written about in a third-party’s website was taken down. That’s the more shady part. Bruno Alexandre Every WMD member is a community member as they helped funding the game. FutureFox I meant a backer who is otherwise not part of the game’s development, marketing etc. But you’ve explained so okay. KamikazeLW It’s very simple, I refuse to buy games at full price, if ever, when the publisher pulls this junk. Rahman Legends would of been a day 1 purchase and this would of been too but now I’ll just find something else to play. I also don’t buy the game for another system as that sends a mixed message to the publisher. WellWisher But you did play Rayman Legends eventually right? I feel sorry for you if you didn’t. Petri This makes me semi excited for the game. “@PetP106: @wmdcars @realandytudor Can we at least expect steering wheel support?” <- Yup, watch out for info next week!— Andy Tudor (@realandytudor) 11. heinäkuuta 2014 If they can get Nintendo to support racing wheels, I might get the game. HavokPants YES WATCH DO.. wait project CARS?! BrokenGamer Just makes me think everything they have said over the last two years was bollocks. FK em if they can’t even break the news in a respectful manner or even do it their selves well how very sad. Yet another company like ubi selling nothing but empty promises good start for a new firm I think not. Also all the rage on facebook has been deleted and nothing but the arse licker comments remain what a well driven community project… FutureFox “…. well driven community project….” omg, lol! palomino blue please understand Scott IsMe “… and we kindly ask…” No. My answer is “NO.” matt “We’re committed to delivering an exceptional and unique experience for racing fans on Wii U and for this we kindly ask our devoted and passionate Nintendo fans for a little more time in order to ensure the game delivers on our vision of being the most authentic, beautiful, and technically-advanced racing game on any platform.” That sounds like they are making the definitive version on wiiu…..he says any platform ie trying to out do Sony’s and Microsofts own racers i think the ps4/xbox1 will get a buggy unfinished version while wiiu gets the real deal by the sound of it…. Nintendoro WTF !!!! Those kind of delays are screwing Nintendo up jhell delay the other versions and i will be very happy InsanityRaptor Yeah…that’s not explaining shit. That’s just saying there’s a delay because we need to work shit out. We already knew that. FIreproof_actual I’ll be amazed if this runs smoothly on the Wii U… ProfessorPortal In before no one buys it and it’s a complete flop on the Wii U because it’s not a first party game. chris It would have done better if it were released alongside the other two platforms. I wanted to get this on Wii U, but they screwed that purchase.
