Yesterday saw the launch of Pokemon Bank in Europe, the long awaited service that lets trainers keep more than a handful of Pokemon on hand for a simple subscription fee. The app is now available for free and allows storage of up to 3,000 Pokemon. With the transporter tool, trainers can upload their Pokemon from the Black/White and Black 2/White 2 series to be used in the new Pokemon X and Y.

Pokemon Bank can be used for free for thirty days, after which Nintendo will charge $5 annually to continue using it. The subscription fee is designed to help Nintendo maintain server and bandwidth costs as the service runs. For casual users, the initial 30 day period should be enough to transfer your Pokemon and not worry about the subscription service if you don’t plan on using the bank feature.

That should shut up all the people who have been spamming Nintendo’s Twitter and Youtube videos…

      “Sakurai, where is pokemon bank?”
Seriously, that was a miiverse post in the Smash Bros Community.

        I saw that.

I was wondering, does this save to your 3DS? or can you put the same game in a different 3DS and still have access to the same Pokemon? and does every game have there own storage? or is it by 3DS not game?

I’m pretty sure that Pokemon Bank is saved to your Nintendo Network ID, since you’re required to make one before you can get it.

it is saved to your NNID, you cannot download it without one…which kind of annoys me as I wanted to put it on all three of my 3DS… yes, I was going to spend 3 times as much as other but since I cannot put my NNID on more than one of my 3DS.. I am only paying once.

About bloody time. I have been transferring my pokemon all the way up from the GBA games while waiting for this.

  • I heard from a friend of mine, I’ll be using it this weekend to transfer my Pokemon to X. Been transfering my Pokemon since red and blue on the gameboy, so ended up in white on 600+ poke or so with no way to transfer them to X ๐Ÿ™ now I can, at long last, my shinies Palkia, Girantina, Dialga (from events) shiny voltorb and a few more + all my other Pokemon ๐Ÿ˜€

Hm, Pokรฉmon link does not work as quickly as I expected it to.

You really have to put 30 pokemon in your first box in Black/white, then start pokemon link and put them on the bank, insert pokemon x/y, start bank, move your pokemon from the link box to the bank or pokemon x/y, insert pokemon white/black, move 30 pokemon to box 1 again… and this ~25 times to send over my almost-complete pokemon (and unown) collection.

Well, at least I got a free Celebi for my troubles: Finally, I’ve got gens 1-3 complete, only missing a dozen or so event pokemon from gens 4-6.

Now to reset and re-play pokemon diamond + pokemon farm to get a few Mew to trade for those last ones ๐Ÿ˜›
