PS4 vs Wii U
Those who complained that the Wii U was expensive at $299 have a little surprise for them: Sony unveiled that its PlayStation 4 console will launch at $399 this Fall, while Microsoft’s Xbox One will retail at $499. The Wii U currently retails at $299 and $349.

This gives Nintendo a chance to play the price game this Fall, as they can, and should, lower the Wii U price in time for the holiday shopping season. At $299 for the Deluxe set, the Wii U would be $100 cheaper than the PS4, and $200 cheaper than the Xbox One.

Nintendo should also have a better games library this Fall, with Zelda Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart, and perhaps even a new 3D Mario game.

We’ve already heard that Wii U Basic sets are being discontinued at various retailers, as Nintendo admitted that releasing to SKUs was a mistake. This could pave way for a new Deluxe bundle at $299.

With the right marketing strategy and the right lineup of games and bundles, Nintendo can put itself in a great position to fend off the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Fall.

This is how you share games on PS4:

    • AkaLink77

      Wii U 300$ , PS4 400$ , X-Box One 500$
hmmmmm…. i wonder what the uniformed consumer will buy….

      • MetroidZero

XBONE & PS4 – Pay for Online Multiplayer

Wii U – Free Online Multiplayer

        • AkaLink77

          out of randomness….
i thought of a name for ssb 4 a long time ago and ive never heard of a better one since mine. I called it:
          Super Smash Bros. Clash
“A Clash of Video Game Worlds!!”

          • Rey Hardy

I still like Super Smash Bros Universe the best.

          • Brett Butler

            Or, Super Smash Bros: FTW

          • Mario

Let me guess it’s because Universe starts with the letter U. Right?

          • HSN1

Then the 3DS version is Super Smash Bros Freedom?

          • Alestar

Super Smash Bros. Fusion…a world where the characters combine their powers!;o

          • Jamie Clabon

            Super samsh bros duel?

          • Nolan ArchLord

            Sounds lame.

          • AkaLink77

            u have a better suggestion?

          • Nolan ArchLord

Nah, I was just kidding. Failed to note my sarcasm.

          • CapnCrumbles436

            Super Smash Bros: HALLABALOO!
I mean, it’s definitely either that or SSB:Brouhaha.

          • Chris Aita

I got one: Super Smash Bros: Shablagoo! Featuring MINTBERRY CRUNCH!

        • Elem187

Exactly why I have decided to go PC/Wii U this gen…

I’m not too impressed with the visual fidelity of the ps4/xBoned … Nothing is 60fps. Once you game in 60fps, it’s hard to go back to 30fps or less…. Nintendo for the most part releases the majority of their titles at 60fps, and well PC will always be 60fps granted you have a modern GPU

          • Mr. J

The wii u is definitely my first choice but now I can’t decide if I should get the cheap rust bucket or the expensive one…………… Decisions decisions

          • Link Slayer

Halo 5 will be in 60fps

        • CapnCrumbles436

XBONE & PS4- Standard controller (Omitting the silly Kinect and Eye Toy, and they are silly we own them).

          WiiU-Revolutionary touch screen tablet controller

Hmm I wonder what the average low information gamer will be inclined to purchase….

          • Andy

Nintendo fans are living in a dream world, you can’t compare the Wii U to what we just witnessed at E3, the level of detail in the games, the advanced physics makes the Wii U look so far behind. This system is doomed.

          • thisoneguy

Not everything can be “ultra super power console!”. While Wii U yes is weaker than the Ps4 and X1, it is not to weak. The difference is barely noticable. Besides, graphics arn’t the best. Super Mario Galaxy and Skyward Sword on the Wii felt much better, gameplay wise, than a lot of PS3 games I’ve played.

          • RockGod

IT DOESN”T MATTER! The Rock wipes his ass with your PS4!

          • CapnCrumbles436

Yeah because when a mother goes into the gaming store looking for a present for her child she wants to know how many cores the hardware features, what the refresh rate is etc etc etc….No. she says “wow a tablet controller with Mario Kart the family will love this!” Notice I said ‘average low info gamer’? Heck, I’m a 26 yr old working professional and I’ll buy one, bc my gf could not care less about Battlefeild, MGS, or Evil Within. She loves Mario Kart, SSB, Pikmin. If I can relax unwind and grow closer with her, that’s what I want. Not everybody lives in a cave dedicating all their time to competitive online FPS and MMORPGS dude.

          • thisoneguy

“Hi Ma’am welcome to Gameshop what can I do for you?”
“My son wants a new console. How many cores does the PS4 have compared to the X1? Is it true that thereโ€™s an 8-core AMD Jaguar/Kabini x86-64 CPU, a Radeon 7870-derived GPU with 18 compute units, and 8GB of unified GDDR5 RAM?”

          • Jeffery02

Let’s be honest here. Nintendo has never truly been heading in the same direction as Sony or Microsoft. There is a Sony vs Microsoft, but Nintendo is in a class all it’s own. The most hardcore gamers will NOT have just a PS4, Xbox One, or Wii U. The most hardcore gamers will probably have BOTH the PS4 and Wii U or both the Xbox One and Wii U. I got a Wii U not because it’s better or worse but because it gives me a unique experience and the guarantee of Nintendo’s exclusives. Nintendo will ALWAYS be relevant even if they are not the most “hardcore” (As used by ignorant people) at times.

        • Ernie Sanguyo

hmm PS4 won’t be free mp just like the ps3?

        • Guhtere

I thought you didn’t have to pay for PSN. The only monthly fee I get from Sony for my Playstation is PS Plus, which just gets me free games.

          • SoulSilverZero

The PS4 online is included in PS Plus. PSN doesn’t charge you for online.

          • Sidney Majurie

You have to have PS PLus if you want to play online on PS4 for any game.

        • Potemkin

The services they offer are also far superior and also they offer free games, which is enough reson to pay a 50 dollar fee to get free games and discounts.

        • The-Master

Yeah, PS+ was still a great deal. Not sure if theses “new features” will be worth the investement, haven’t shown much as of yet.

Wii U, this is your turn, make it shine.

      • briwas101

The uninformed will buy the wii u, but luckily most people are informed enough to go ps4.

Even if nintendo lowered the deluxe to $200 it still would be a worse value than the ps4 for $400.

The wii u is an embarrassment.

        • Joyous Killer

“Most people” doesn’t necessarily mean “me”

        • Adam

Who died and made you the arbiter of taste?

        • MTGSWE
        • Levi Johansen

How much power a console has does not determine hos much it is worth.

The system itself it worthless without games, infact: the Xbox One is the only one with value outside of the games.

Nintendo however is getting everything from Ubisoft, and of course their first party titles are always “game of the year” candidates.

Wii U also has Miiverse and TVii, PS4 has nothing like it.

I’ll say the Wii U is worth alot more than the others.

Of course it is a matter of opinion, some peopel prefer the Playstation library of games, and would value that higher than the Nintendo library.

But the Wii U is far from an embarrassment and it’s totally worth it.

          • AAAkabob

They are not getting everything from Ubi, some games announced yesterday isn’t coming to Wii U.

          • Levi Johansen

They are getting all the games that matter.

There will allways be exclusives and such, like “The Crew” for Xbox One, just like there was ZombiU for Wii U.

The big franchises and the awesome games are all being released on WIi U, and most of the rest will probably follow. Just like Rayman Legends jumped to Xbox 360 and PS3.

The fact of the matter is that the Wii U has the bigger and better library of games of all three consoles. And with steady support from Ubisoft, Capcom, Activision and others, they will stay ahead for quite some time.

          • Magnus Eriksson

            It really doesnt have TVii…

          • InsaneZucchini

I’ve been using Wii U’s TVii a lot lately. o: I love the TV Tag feature, commenting on things as they happen in the show. o: But I dunno what it’s like and how well it works outside of the USA.

          • Magnus Eriksson

            No TVii in Europe

          • Levi Johansen

            It really does!

PS4 and Xbox One does not really have anything though, they don’t yet exist on the market… easy win for Wii U!

          • DWraySweZ

            what ps4 has facebook… jeesh…

          • Levi Johansen

Facebook is not a PS4 exclusive thing, and it doesn’t offer any tournements, leaderboards, sharing of drawings, game communities and has no Sony moderation.

It’s simply a way to chat, share screen-shots and invite people to play. Another company to spam Facebook, luckily I can just hide PS4-related posts.

        • CapnCrumbles436

Again, I’m astonished at the PS4 love and WiiU hate on a WiiU site! It’s not like this troll dumps his crap on here and every body shreds him up. He manages to waltz off with 6 likes…Who is on the WiiU daily site and feels the WiiU is a waste and and embarrassment? If so, why are they here?!

Here is what I think: People who spend there time dwelling on things that they feel are wasteful embarrassments, are wasteful embarrassments!!

          • 150Db

There are actually just 2 or 3 trolls on here, they constantly IP-refresh and upvote their troll comments. I think they might be retarded to be honest.

          • DWraySweZ

Nintendos first party was just amazing…

        • ATherohatch

if the wii u is such an embarrasment why are you on wiiudaily? oh my god just go fart in your own mouth

        • RockGod

Are you feeling embarrassed? It’s ok, you can talk to me about it….
NO! The Rock says, take your feelings n get the hell out b4 The Rock decides to kick your candy ass

        • XroyD

          Your body isn’t ready!

      • Magnus Eriksson

I will probably get a PS4 eventually when It got more games and a slightly lower pricetag (3 years or so). But first Ill buy a PS3 because of the low pricetag and many games. I would never buy the XBox. Just not that interested in watching TV.

So, now Wii U (already got one) and later PS4 this generation. Suits me good.

      • Guhtere

Well the PS4 does have more power than the Wii U, so it has a reason to be 400 bucks. As for Xbox One being 500 bucks, FAIL!

      • Chris Hamilton

well we live in the age of information so relying on uninformed consumers is not a good strategy .and you need to add $ to the wii u for the portable hard drive you need to buy and extra for a lan adapter if you prefer a wired connection.
sony didn’t announce storage for the ps4 so they might be going with the buy your own memory approach as well.and it seems you may need Ps+ to go online.

I predicted the $399 price of the ps4 and a price drop on the wii u to $249. No word on a price drop yet, but if nintendo wants to compete they best make $249 a reality

        • alex

well Sony say the ps4 is 500g and removable hdd…Nintendo say no price cut but by Christmas I now they will release a 299.99 32g white or black, to fight Sony and a 349.99 version with wonderful 101 or Mario 3d world that will be the smarter thing to do. the ps4 is just 50n bucks more and it is 8 times more powerful so I know Nintendo will do that and we will see the wii u flying out of stores this Christmas.

    • Cubester_64

      XDXDXD That’s awesome!

    • Laud

All Nintendo needs to do now is have a kick ass Nintendo Direct and announce some better online features and they’re all set.

Xbox is no good this time… they’re done for imo.

      • briwas101

Lol. Do all nintendo losers live in denial?

Ps4 costs $100 more but is WORTH $200-300 more than the wii u.

The wii u is just a paperweight.

Sony will sell MILLIONS more units this holiday season.

The wii u has already cemented itself in 3rd place.

It is a repeat of the gamecube, except the gamecube actually had good games.

        • Adam

Also, the GameCube was the most powerful console of its generation, the PS2 being the least powerful.
If Sony thought the PS4 would be great, why did they feel the need to copy the Wii U gamepad by adding a tiny touchpad to the PS4 controller – as well as other motion control stuff – that is more awkward than any Nintendo motion control and not implemented well by any developer. The Vita has sold just 2 mil in 2 & 1/2 years (compared to 35 mil for the 3DS in 1 & 1/2 years), the PS4 will do much better than that, but it’s not necessarily going to be the top selling console of this generation.

        • val berger

you may wait and see, what’s behinde the next corner as Nintendo is the only one who hasn’t had his E3 Announcement yet. But I personally agree that Sony’s position is the best of all companies by now. But I would nver say Microsoft is beter positioned as Nintendo. I really expected more from the XBox One and I didn’t even expect too much at all, but for me it’s the definite Console Fail of this generation because where Nintendo failed to do proper marketing for their system, Microsoft seems to fail delivering a good concept. The WiiU is a great concept that really works very good if supported properly and I hope we will see some of this proper support later today. Microsoft on the other side hasn’t just the most expensive system, it’s also the system that’s least interesting for people who are into gaming. For me personally the games shown there were absolutely disappointing, I really expected something huge after the previous weeks but they really did continue to disappoint. And then there’s the Stasi&DRM-Thing. No real gamer will have something like that in his living room and for 200 Euro more than the XBone, you can have a PS4 plus a WiiU which may be the way to go for many, if Nintendo manages to pull the strings right today.

        • Levi Johansen

The Wii U has good games!
The past 6 months are irrelevant, it has good games now!

More games than the competitors and it’s getting more this fall.
It has the best game library so far, and might sustain this for a year, or even through the entire generation.

There is no proof it will, or will not sustain it trough the generation, but it is a FACT that it has the best games and the most games so far.

Nomatter what, the Wii U will never be in third place. The Xbox One is a disgrace to gaming and to all Xbox 360 owners. It is the absolute loser and among Microsofts biggest failures.

        • Baum ใ€Œใƒ„ใƒชใƒผใ€

Laud didn’t talk about Sony, smartass?

        • Josh

Its funny how people hate on Nintendo for doing their own thing, for veering off the beaten track. This console generation has only just begun briwas. Look to the past and you’ll find rocky starts for many successful consoles/devices. I mean seriously, a paperweight? PS4 is more than twice the value? You my friend sound like a fool. Where do you get your figures from because you seem to have all the answers? I think you should do a little research chief because from what I’ve read, Nintendo released Wii U below the production cost price (their 1st console ever i might add). Theres great value there, though granted, maybe its been poorly conveyed. Thats something the big N has to address. The best way to do that is to show in-house software that utilises the consoles unique architecture, to demonstrate to the consumer and to third parties the kind of product that can be acheived on their system with a little effort and understanding. Once the games start flowing, the consoles will fly off the shelves. There is one thing you can count on in this day and age mate, and thats people being frugal and value conscious. A cheaper, unique, backwards compatible console with great games and a trusted brand name like Nintendo, i know a lot of mums and dads and non closeminded gamers who will slap down the money for a Wii U when Nintendo pull out the big guns, and I’ll happily say I’m one of them. Just sit back and watch the show

        • RockGod

SHUT UP! The Rock’s gonna take your PS4, shine that sum bich up real nice, and SHOVE IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR CANDY ASS!

        • Microsoft went kinder than a Canadian by simply handing Nintendo a comfortable spot as a very respectable second place, and giving Sony the crown. Sony and Nintendo are going to be the Jordan and Pippen of gaming now.

After what Sony did to them, and what Nintendo will probably do to them (Nintendo’s actually showing the most exclusives this years, surprisingly), Microsoft’s not even going to place third very well. Hell, even OUYA now stands to have a better year than “Xbone” now–and sadly, that’s no joke!

    • Nintendo4life

I have to say i am now going to buy a ps4 but keep my wii u as my main gaming console

    • Jamin Daniell

this literally made me laugh out loud. Sony & Nintendo forever!!

    • The-Master

That has to be the biggest burn in video game history.

  • Microsoft Just lost the console war in this generation… Nintendo may not be the number one selling in the end this round but still the Wii U and PS4 offer more value than the XB One. So unless someone is a die hard Microsoft exclusive game fan I see no reason to ever get one.

This coming from someone who has and enjoys their XB360 and skipped the PS3 because of price and PSN security issues. Maybe Sony did learn from their mistake after all.

    • Nintedward

I had all three , and found my self going towards 360 for my Multiplat fix… But jeez , the Xbox one is out of the question.

I vow to NEVER buy a Microsoft console ever again and will be buying the PS4 on launch day with Killzone , Drive club and Knack ๐Ÿ˜‰ to go with My Wiiu and 3DS XL!!!

      • I was the same way with my XBOX 360. The PS3 turned me off with their high price tag and their network security issues but damn if I am going to let a console into my house that requires itself to phone home to keep tabs on you. If I want it online I will make that choice…not them.

        • Nintedward

          Forced Kinnect 2.0
          Always online
          No used games
          No borrowing
          Less powerfull than PS4
Worse first party studios than Sony and of course Nintendo….
          Significantly more expensive…

What the fuck jus happened? lol , at this point I feel like I owe Sony my money for their heroism…

          • Rey Hardy

Halo 5 was the ONLY thing I cared for at Microsofts E3…but damn…8 months ago Halo 4 came out…and Halo 5 already gets teased. a 2 year development for Halo 5 when Halo 4 was 3 to 3 1/2 years? Campaign will be great but everything else sucks. Microsoft lost in the gaming industry when Bungie left they were their best dev, the Retro Studios or Naughty Dog of Xbox lol. No way in hell am I buying a $500 Xbox One just For Halo 5’s campaign.

          • briwas101

Why would you put “and of course nintendo” for best exclusives?

Anyone who has played all 3 systems in the last 5 years KNOWS that Sony’s exclusives are now FAR SUPERIOR to anything nintendo makes.

There are LITERALLY ZERO nintendo games that even comes close to any of sony’s exclusives.

Step away from your garbage system and see what real games are like. Nintendo fell behind. Franchises got stale. Sony came in and easily took over as the leader for best exclusives.

          • Eric Degrechie

Bullshit. I own a Wii and a PS3. Both of their exclusives are good. Your opinion is wrong.

          • Nintedward

Shut up. Mario Galaxy 2 is the highest rated game of all time. I’m currently playing Fire emblem awakening , Luigi’s Mansion 2 , Donkey kong country returns on my 3DS.

Xenoblade ? Smash ? Zelda ? no ? Sony’s exclusives are great , but other than The last of us , there is no reason to cream your pants…

Nintendo EAD is still the number 1 developer in the world. Not Valve not Naughty dog

          • RockGod

Take it easy on him dude… sounds like he’s only about 9 years old…

          • CapnCrumbles436

Nintenward owns all platforms as do many other users on this forum. My family owns PSP, DS, 3DS, PS3, 360, Wii, WiiU. I have played many exclusive titles on all consoles. I think it’s pretty arrogant to assume that the only possible way someone could hold an opinion other than your own, is if they are woefully ignorant.

My favorite games of last generation include: Mario Galaxy 1&2, Zelda TP, Metroid P3, SSB:Brawl, The Conduit, Heavy Rain, Halo 3, Uncharted 2 and R&C:Tools of Destruction. I’ve played nearly every big blockbuster title this last generation I just simply wasn’t a fan of many of the big titles. Nintendo holds the biggest draw for me.

          • Funny how Nintendo Games consistently rate amongst the top games in reviews and ratings by the gamers and often outsell many other top games exclusive to other consoles.

I think that alone proves you wrong

          • RockGod

OOOHHHH! The Rock is gonna shine your PS4 up real nice…..

      • bizzy gie

Whoops. Thought you were Laud. ๐Ÿ˜€

        • I thought more like $450 given it’s specs but Sony played their cards right.

          • Elem187

Yeah I was wrong too, I didn’t think they could afford to lose too much per console. Looks like they are eating roughly 100$ per console.

But Sony requires a subscription to play online. I will never ever ever pay money to play online. I already spend $50 on my cable modem per month. Sony and M$ can get bent.

        • Nintedward

          I can’t remember , but I was way off…. I was about $500 minimum…

          • Rey Hardy

I was DEAD ON about Xbox One….but I was saying PS4 would be $600…fucking curve ball man nobody saw that coming.

If those are the only games you would play then youre not even a gamer.

The ps3 has more good games than the last 4 nintendo systems COMBINED.

If those are the only 2 games you would play then you are the most pathetic excuse for a gamer EVER

          • Mc Robins

Yeah you’re right heaven forbid if they’re the only two PS4 games i want. My 200 plus PC steam games are a waste of money and time. Don’t claim gaming like an elitist. It makes you look like an absolute douche. Now lets get back to how awesome E3 is.

yup same here. the day KH3 drops is the day I will be gaming on my new ps4. I hope the ps4 comes in different colors, although i doubt it

      • Clel

What I’m wondering is, are the price tags good news for the Wii U (not that I hope they fail)? The Xbox One, definitely. But the PS4?

        • Nintedward

We’ll have to see how Nintendo reacts. The gamepad and the streaming tech really isn’t a cheap for them to produce…

        • RockGod

I think Nintendo will have no choice but to drop price around PS4 launch. $300 sounds a lot better. With all the big 1st party titles coming just this year, they should be able to recoup the price cut with huge software sales.

          • Clel

Dropping the price is crazy though. All gaming systems come with a controller, right? And the Gamepad IS a controller, but it’s a $110+ controller, as opposed to the usual $30 to $50 price tag. So take that into account and the Wii U is actually about $60 cheaper :s

          • RockGod

I understand. but in this business it’s EAT or BE EATEN. Ninty needs to kick some serious ass in a little while…

    • that guy

and when you say exclusives you mean two games. halo and forza

      • And I like Forza but will give it up just as I will do for Need For Speed because I will not support a company that wants to overly restrict and charge more money out of the gamer. Not to mention lie to and withhold games out of spite

        • that guy

i suggest project cars or GT6 as your substitute if you need a racer.

          • Rey Hardy

            Mario Kart U!!!

          • Project Cars is on my list to watch and my brother just gave me a steam code to get Grid 2 for free. Then I got 4 other free games for PC with my recent Radeon 7970 Graphics card which should be here by the weekend.

    • Rey Hardy

Wii U will be 1st, PS4 will be 2nd, Ouya will be 3rd, Steambox will be 4th, Ipads will be 5th, Smartphones will be 6th, my current cablebox will be 7th, my Toaster will be 8th, then Xbox One with it’s 1 single sale to the EA CEO will be 9th lol.

      • RockGod

REALLY??? You really think that MS will crack the top 10?

      • Wii U will be my first as well.. I just invested in a Radeon 7970 Graphics card for my QuadCore HTPC (Basically a custom steambox and uPlay box) so that will be my second and I will see what happens with the PS4 before I decide to buy another console. I may never get it.

    • CapnCrumbles436

Yeah, Nintendo isn’t gonna sell the most consoles this time because Sony showed some really cool dragons at E3. I saw a video of a game where you shoot people and the texture and lighting on the guys gun looked really real. Sony’s power is like level 7 while Nintendo’s power is good, but it’s only like level 5, so yeah. (sarcasm)

Listen up, nobody has any idea what’s going to happen because the competing hardware will not even be on the market for another 5-6 months. It will take additional time to see how developers and consumers are receiving that hardware. I also hate to break it to you, but gaming fanatics do not make up the majority of the market, we are only segment of the market. We do not determine the market leader. The Nintendo Wii was a clear demonstration of this. There are four main factors that determine sales: product, placement, price, and promotion. When predicting public perception (which determines consumer behavior and sales) we have to take all these factors into account.

      • RockGod

MS is failed already in my opinion. Sony did much better, but I didn’t see a huge reason to invest in a PS4. I am very content with my Wii U and if I was going to invest in another game system it would definitely be a 3DS. Nintendo needs to knock one outta the park in just a few hours…

  • MonsterHunter387

I’m probably getting a PS4 since that is the most logical way to go if your a Nintendo fanatic plus, it has Kingdom Hearts 3

    • Luke Fon Fabre

      Yes it Does finally!!!!!!!!! KH3!!!!!!!!

    • Rey Hardy

KH3 isnt a PS4 exclusive. We dont know WHAT it will be on whenever it finally comes out. Probably going to be a multiplat. PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U.

      • Guest No. 3

We don’t actually know if that’s true, though they never said it was an exclusive. I’d LOVE to see it come to Wii U.

    • CapnCrumbles436

PS4 is the most logical way to go for a Nintendo fan?? What about a WiiU? It doesn’t make sense to faithfully defend Nintendo while simultaniously admitting that it doesn’t offer enough value to satisfy you as a gamer. I’ll be getting a WiiU and nothing else.

      • RockGod

I’ll be supporting Wii U only this gen, as usual, I’m a major fanboy. Don’t hate on me tho… Nintendo needs people like me right now. I’ll be spending all my cash on their platform.

  • Mark Thom

  • only god can judge me

The time is now or never for the wii u with the ps4 priced at 400 now would be the time for a 50 price cut for the deluxe bundle and some heavy hitter games to come along with better marketing the wii u will be able to turn its fortunes around.

    • Elem187

I’d like to see them cut 100. Bring the console in at half the price of Sony’s system to move units fast.

      • only god can judge me

Yea me 2 i highly doubt it tho

      • Ben Vangenechten

Yeah, that would help but that you can say they should give it away… Cutting of 50 is enough for these holidays, combined with awesome games that’s enough to help the console.

    • Rey Hardy

Price cut WONT HELP and Wont COME. Reggie said already it wont get one for quite awhile. Wii went 3 years without one. Wii U wont get one till the 3 year mark.

      • ancientgamer

i bet they will drop 50$ this fall to compete with ps better

      • RockGod

You’re absolutely right Rey and under normal circumstances you know Nintendo will always honor their word. PS4 releasing at $400 is a game changer, especially with Sony adapting a more Nintendo approach to gaming than an MS like one like many expected. Nintendo will have to respond… they have no choice now. Their gonna merge their two SKUs so they’ll both be like the current deluxe model (black or white) and drop the price to $300. They’ll probably have special bundles that come with another game still going at $350 tho…. This and a huge list of big name games for the holidays is a MUST for Nintendo right now.

        • I agree. I think if they do anything they will offer the 32GB Model in Black and White and make that $299 with no game and just run promotions to get the game free some other way or for a big discount.

      • only god can judge me

Damn well nintendo shot their ownselves in the ass with this console ps4 won this generation.

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

    • Wayne Beck

I’m so pissed at SE right now.. Why did they have to ruin another Final Fantasy Game in the Main Series..

      • Forbsz

I wish they would make another game like final fantasy 10 ๐Ÿ™

        • companyoflosers

if you mean like 10 but without the obnoxious main characters then yes, that would be very welcome.

          • Forbsz

I really liked the characters in final fantasy x I liked everything actually but each to there own ๐Ÿ™‚

          • Tim van Broekhoven

            Also the Tidus laugh? XD

          • Jamie Clabon

            “HA HA HA HA HA”
            “you should stop now-”
“HA HA HA HA HA HA “

          • companyoflosers

tidus was a bit much for me. god! that scene where he just does that annoying laugh for absolutely no reason just makes me cringe every time i see it!

          • Adam

and less awkward camera and less insane difficulty curve for the last 15% that made so many stop playing?
SE should just go ahead and make a new proper Front Mission game

    • Andreas Sunde

Announcing FFXV before releasing FFXIV… Oh, Square Enix, just give us an FFVII remake, please?

      • ancientgamer

i honesty dont see why they dont, they would make bank

        • Andreas Sunde

They said it would take 30 years plus… I don’t think they want to do it.

      • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

I really wish for a Final Fantasy VI Remake… Will that Final Fantasy Remake for the Wii U will become true? Lets wait tomorrow

        • Yong Woo Kim

is there a petition page for that?

        • TalesOfBS

Sorry but you better not rise your hopes. Square Enix will never do that unless Nintendo dump a truckload of money on them. And even if Nintendo did that, they would never give Nintendo a decent game because hardcore kids would scream all over the world saying Nintendo should stop stealing their hardcore games and that Final Fantasy is property of hardcore consoles like ps4 and xboxdone.

          • InsaneZucchini

Final Fantasy is property of hardcore consoles? You mean Final Fantasy 1-6 never happened? Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 1-3 never happened? Final Fantasy Tactics never happened? FF3 wasn’t remade for Wii and DS? Final Fantasy Chocobo’s Dungeon doesn’t exist? Square Enix never made Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars? DX:HR Director’s Cut isn’t coming to Wii U? Square Enix already develops games including Final Fantasy for Nintendo.

If I had to guess I’d say the primary limiting factor on putting games like FF XIII on the Wii was it’s power which is no longer an issue with the Wii U. The Wii U’s graphical potential should be able to hold it’s own against the PS4 and Xbox One for at least the first few years of their launch so long as developers take full advantage of it’s design.

          • TalesOfBS

I was being sarcastic dude. But that is exactly what happens.

        • KH3 will prolly come for Wii U

          • sdmac200600

Doubt it. the main games were only on PS brand

          • well they’ve never never been on Xbox EVER, so yknow

          • Well, they’ve never been on Xbox at all, and KH has been favoring Nintendo systems recently, soooo

          • sdmac200600

Oh I didn’t even know it was going to be on that fail of a console. Well maybe it will come on Wii U.

It’s only been favoring the nintendo handhelds because sony’s handhelds are bad or just don’t sell well.

          • I think its a good possibility

    • Guest No. 3

They haven’t announced whether it’s exclusive or not yet.

      • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Yeah, I really hope that this shit comes to the Wii U…

      • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Actually there is something Nintendo can do to win millions…. just release a Wii U Smash Bros bundle and a 3DS Smash Bros bundle… Yep, I think that would be a great option

  • Luke Fon Fabre

So loved Sony’s middle finger to Microsoft!!!!

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Well, Nintendo fans have proved Square Enix that they love Kingdom Hearts. SONY did not mention something about exclusivity so… KH could come to the Wii U… now Final Fantasy XV…. I doubt it

    • Guest No. 3

Yeah, I really hope if KH3 actually is good (gameplay needs an upgrade), I hope it comes to Wii U.

  • Guhtere

    I will buy a PS4. Kingdom Hearts III…

  • only god can judge me

The ps4 means business this time around, nintendo take notes and come out swinging with zelda, mario, smash bros, and metroid anything else will be a
    Highly dissappointment

  • Luke Fon Fabre

    Yea KINGDOM HEARTS 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Link Slayer

Sony Is the clear winner of E3 2013. The Ps4 is only $50 more than the Wii U delux and Its way more powerful has a ton of games. But the Wii U will have some killer apps coming this year. The Wii U needs to be way cheaper I feel jipped big time now. But I dont think Microsoft has a fighting chance and its sad because they had the best exclusives at the show. Due to being way over priced and having so many lame restrictions It may not do so well. Also the ps4 has faster and more effecient ram and probably have a larger hardrive.

    • CapnCrumbles436

Ps4 is not out. Trust me by the time it is WiiU will be 100 bucks less and feature a nice library of AAA titles.

    • Guest No. 3

No, it is not “way more powerful.” And how can you say they’re the winner?? Nintendo hasn’t even gone up yet!

    • RockGod

The Rock says you should go out n buy a Wii U so U can save 50 bucks… then you can take that 50 bucks… AND SHOVE IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR MONKEY ASS!

      • Link Slayer

Ill buy me a ps4 and stick that 8 gigs of ram up my Monkey ASS anyday. The Nintendo Direct was lame and there wasn’t nothing we didnt really know and everything I want to play aint tell 2014. Booo Nintendo. O and now Dues Ex Directors cut aint a Wii U exclusive. Good thing i got rid of mine when i had the chance before its only worth 15 dollars

  • Forbsz

I own a Wii U and love it but ps4 had me at…… Kingdom Hearts 3.

    • They had me at Final Fantasy XV. Kingdom Hearts 3 was just adding hot fudge chocolate on top of the mix.

      • Forbsz

Don’t get me wrong Final Fantasy XV looked awesome but they have never made a game yet that has topped Final Fantasy X for me but I’m so excited and I have to get a ps4 now!

        • I think I need a cold shower after seeing those two games.

          • Forbsz

I have been shaking for the past half hour I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t eaten all day or because of kingdom hearts 3 and final fantasy xv! I’m also really excited for Nintendo’s direct and Monolith Soft’s new jrpg “X”

    • Guest No. 3

Sadly, we have no idea WHEN KH3 will launch. And it doesn’t look like any time soon.

  • Zach Cruz

Well I just bought my Xbox One, Owned Wii U day one and will also be getting the PS4 when they announce its available. To say xbox sucked… we mustve watched different conferences, I feel there were some major games shown that for me as a gamer needs to have like Dead Rising 3, Halo, Ryse looks cool still for me a debatable title, Killer Instinct, Metal Gear Solid another great title, also confirmed but not shown was elder scrolls online. Now im just waiting to see Battlefront that was announced and more from pop-cap. I get all the systems to get the best of all worlds rather b**** and whine about other consoles. Now as for Nintendo show me smash bros,3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, pikmin, METROID or star fox or both, give me news on the Xeno game then after showing these surprise me with some new titles not known yet (Pokemon for Wii U, free roam MMO,a guy can dream cant he XP)! Been a fan since the start and will always back up Nintendo

    • It is not the games that make the XBOX One suck…. It is the required online phone home DRM, the used game restrictions, the always on Kinect, and the much higher price tag.

      • Zach Cruz

Gaming experience to me doesnt have a price tag if I play it enough then its worth it, I most likely see myself playing core games on xbox one, and strong exclusives on the other two like FFXV and kingdom hearts. The whole internet thing doesnt bother me either seeing how my xbox is always connected anyways, If i lived in florida or places where a power outage can be a huge concern i would probably feel different haha but up in Washington state ive only had 2 blackouts in the past 10 years and recovered in about 3hours time.

        • Well to each is own.. If you do not mind being forced to have your console check in with home base every day and saying what you can and can’t do then that is your business.. If you do not mind having a video recording and audio recording device that has patents filed where it can be used to spy on you and your guests to see how many people are in the room playing/watching then that is cool.

To me that is the ultimate price. My 360 and Wii U are also always connected but I have the option to turn it off and bring them where I want and when I want. I can loan a friend a game and not have to worry about it being tracked who it is loaned to or worry about if there will be future charges or if the game will work when I get it back. There is no exclusive that can change my mind of that.

          • Zach Cruz

Oh I plan on having it record me as much as itd like, maybe have a huge steve job shrine in the background along with some happy tissues and also my ps4 and wii u so they can watch they want haha I do agree the game selling/trading thing is ridiculous and may have to wait a year or two at other E3’s to see improvements in these areas.

          • You may think I am being paranoid but the new trend is to spy on the consumer. Google does it and will do it more with Google Glass, Microsoft will do it with the Kinect and the government eats this crap up. I can totally see them making Microsoft enable it so they can use it for homeland security just like they make that outrageous claim to justify spying on our phone calls, emails and internet usage.

          • Zach Cruz

Its fine with me, I feel there is nothing you can do at least here in the US from spying on you.. they announced on the news that cell carriers were giving out peoples info for the government. The government here will find its way one way or another if it wants to see what your up to.

          • You are very complacent aren’t you?

          • Zach Cruz

Why do you say that? because my view on my government spying on its people? Its going to happen one way or another, just face reality.

          • RockGod

Oh Come ON! The Rock doesn’t wanna hear about you spankin’ your own monkey ass!

Dammm the PS4 is a must buy.

  • Nintedward

PS4 has my day 1 support. I watched the Press conference in my local independent game store (Games Dojo , Awesome) with about 20 people it was a classic and one of the most memorable E3 things ever to happen… I watched all the conferences all day! (all twenty , sweaty gaming nerds were cheering and clapping at the moves that Sony pulled lol , me included…)

PS4 is ยฃ350 ? lol , that’s how much I payed for My ZombiU bundle ๐Ÿ˜‰ (no regrets obviously , it’s my beauty)

Just wow , just fucking wow….. Sony have established themselves as a true , passionate Game company now (even more than they were) alongside Nintendo in the hall of champions.

At this point Microsoft and Xbox is just like the prick you want to punch in the face…

I think Nintendo Has some special announcements for E3 . Starfox , Metroid or F-zero or hopefully all three ๐Ÿ˜‰ CAN’T WAIT . But yeh… PS4 is day 1 and pre ordered.

    • Forbsz

I hope kingdom hearts 3 comes out next year I’ve been waiting years I’m 16 this year now I don’t want to wait much more…… I will be getting a ps4 for kingdom hearts 3 and Final Fantasy: Realm Reborn (mmo)

      • Rey Hardy

But it said at the end of the video…Now in development…

      • Ace J

your 16?? lol i beat KH2 about a week after it came out when i was 14. now iam 21 lol

    • MTGSWE

I will have the Wii U/PS4 combo ๐Ÿ˜€ Gaming will be glorius ๐Ÿ˜€

    • RockGod

You’re right man, Sony is a much bigger threat post E3 conference. They stood head and shoulders above MS & EAs conferences. Ubisoft impressed me most and there’s real irony there. They had some of the most visually stunning games at E3 and those games are confirmed for Wii U also. I hope Nintendo nails it out of the park today…

      • Nintedward

Watchdogs looked insanely good during the PS4 conference…

Getting WD on my Wiiu though ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • RockGod

I’ll be getting that and all my other games as well for Wii U. I don’t like the anti-Nintendo bias in the industry, so I plan to support them as much as I can.

  • John Andalora

Nintendo shouldn’t play the price “game.” They shouldn’t play any game.
They should just try to make great games and show them off.

Yeah, i know price can be a factor, but not without the games to back it up. Sony looks better than MS, has better games, and has more of them. Nintendo could get more people on board if it looked like they had a good sized library and showed it off. If Nintendo wants to try and beat anyone, they should just make more games.

Cost of an Ouya is $99. But i don’t care to buy it because the games don’t impress me.
A console can be as cheap as it wants to, but it just needs the games if it ever wants to get more sales.

    • Elem187

If they want to sell systems they need to get aggressive with their prices. They are dead in the water if they leave the wii u at $50 less than the PS4.

The visuals will be a pretty large gulf between the two systems so Nintendo needs to show big value, because parents may opt to get lil johnny exactly what he wants at only $50 more than the budget console from Nintendo.

      • Rey Hardy

False. Smash Bros + Retro Studios game + HD Zelda, plus HD 3D Mario = Game Over competition. I would spend $1000 on Retros game. It shall be the BEST 8th GEN GAME PERIOD!!! Sorry I am a TOTAL Retro Studios fanboy lol.

        • RockGod

Actually you and Elem are both right… When PS4 launches Wii U has to be able to say i’m $100 cheaper and come with a game. Good news is the price drop probably won’t hurt Nintendo that much, Because of that stream of big name games which the sales of these games will more than make up for the price cut on the console. There are probably not many like me who will put their full support into just Nintendo’s console.

      • John Andalora

Shouldn’t the parents get li’l Johnny what he wants, rather than getting him a console he didn’t want and then listening to him cry and scream about how it’s not the one he wanted?

Also, aggressive doesn’t mean just yelling a price at people and expecting them to buy it. You gotta show people ehy they should buy it at all. Most people will ask “what games does it play?” Before they ask “what price is it?”
And if the only thing Nintendo can do is say it’s the cheapest one, and keep selling them at a loss to the company, they really will be dead in the water.

  • Selina Kyle

Wii U is the only console this generation with free online multiplayer. This is a sad day for gamers…

    • Zach Cruz

think of it more as a great win for Nintendo

      • Selina Kyle

Yeah. That, and a win for PC gaming.

        • Zach Cruz

That too haha, I kiinda leave pc gaming in its own category just cause systems cant keep up with PC gaming, they are updated yearly.

          • that guy

just because my rig already has twice the power of the X1 doesn’t mean they can’t be compared. (sarcasm)

        • Rey Hardy

PC’s are there own beast. You want best power and graphics? You go with PC that simple. You want the best games and innovation? You go with Nintendo that simple lol.

          • 150Db

Well said. It truly is that simple.

… The PS4 and Xbox One look… Almost the same! Both black boxes but different design on both, I still think the PS4 looks better and will do better then the Xbox One.

    • The PS4 is like an italicized version of the Xbone, which itself looks like a VCR from the early 90s. But at $399, it can look like a toaster and I’d still buy it.

      • …On second thought, I’d actually love a toaster-style game console design. xD

  • BGhp

    Sony done them dirty!

  • Starfoxguy

The PS4 and Xbox One look like black boxes but the PS4 has a little more personality.

    • Andreas Sunde

They look like they were designed in the same hour. The PS4 looks like an X1 slim. Dafuq happened here?

    • 150Db

When the Wii U was revealed, I had no idea it was going to win the best design of 8th gen award. An oversized external hard drive vs an 80s VCR vs an 80s VCR on a slant… at least the hdd (Wii U) looks sleek and has curved edges.

  • stevieMHz

    Wii U/PS4………………………………..MICROSOFT GOT SLAPPED!

    • Elem187

      Wii U/PC ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Not with Windows 8, I hope. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

        • MetroidZero

          Windows 8.1

  • Schultz38

    Dear Michael Pachter,

    That is all.

    • Rey Hardy

      He got the PS4 right…

      • He said the PS4 would be $350 so if he was playing the price is right and someone bid $400 then he would be right. Otherwise he is wrong as usual

  • I’m sorry, but calling the PS4 “rather expensive” when it’s only $399 and while the Wii U’s still standing at $349 for its Deluxe model is showing some serious fanboyism. Microsoft? Sure, now their price is expensive. Asking for $399 for the PS4 is better than anyone could’ve expected. It immediately puts the Wii U in a position where Nintendo has to make a mandatory price cut–about $100 off their current asking prices. Nintendo should probably drop the Basic set altogether and just offer the Deluxe version alone for $249.

    • Not to mention, Sony’s didn’t just kick Microsoft in the balls–they’re shaking PC gaming a bit, too, when you think about it. You’re just not going to buy a gaming PC with PS4’s specs at $399–I don’t care who claims otherwise. If you do, then it’s going to be a piece of cheap junk.

The average PC gamer doesn’t have a super-rig that’s custom-built and eating lava for breakfast–it’s more at consumer level. But PS4 will snatch some of dat’ market now. And with Sony’s opening their doors wide to indie developers, the PC no longer has tight grip on exclusivity to indie games that it so comfortably enjoys.

Not to mention, Sony’s brought the hammer down with some of their games, namely, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3, and being the best home to both Metal Gear Solid games (all four being reasons why I’ll be looking to pick up a PS4 myself). Being able to play affordably at $399 and on-par with your average gaming PC is hard to ignore.

Well played, Sony. I’ve got to give props where it’s due.

      • that guy

It’s hard making the transition back over to a console as the controls are much different for all games, it feels almost impossible to go back to an analog stick for shooters as the mouse gives unparalleled precision, and you have to consider that withen 2 years the PS4’s stats may become the standard power for lower end rigs.

        • Andreas Sunde

Show me a pc with the specs of a PS3 (or equivalent) that plays games as well as it.

          • that guy

there are GPU’s with 6gigs of ram and then double that by running them in cross-fire or SLI, capable of running a game at native 4k at 60fps, the PS4 has 8gigs for all of it’s components and will most likely have to use upscaling after 2k. and then some people have over 20gigs of ram in there whole rig and can forget load times by loading a whole game on to the system ram so if you ever think a console can compete in graphics you are straight-up ignorant.

          • You should’ve read that carefully before you replied. That guy said show him a PC with the specs of a PS3 (I think he meant probably “PS4”) that plays games as well as PS3 (PS4?) does. He didn’t say, “Show me a PC that plays games better than a PS3 (PS4?).”

His point is that consoles don’t need a whole lot of power to play their games well–they’re optimized machines, reduced down to mass-reproduction-manageable and affordable technical specifications.

If you tried to game on a PC with what tech specs a PS3 (PS4?) uses, it wouldn’t play them as well as how PS3 utilizes them. I think this is what Andreas there meant.

You’re not going to find a computer with 256MB of RAM that did gaming as well as PS3 did, and most 8GB computers with 1GB graphics don’t look as good as what PS4 does with its optimized 8GB RAM and 1GB GPU.

In fact, if a console was built to have the same tech specs as an 8-core CPU/16GB RAM/3GB GPU gaming PC, given how consoles always optimize those parts differently than how the more PCs are (which cater more to general-use), a console would probably look and run better than its then-current PC counterpart of the same specs.

Consoles have fewer background operations to deal with than a PC does. It takes up to about 2 gigabytes of RAM alone just to run Windows 8. They don’t have to deal with driver issues. Developers can also focus more on a budgeted development, rather than trying to justify the latest graphics card (which is more expensive).

Though, granted, its optimizations would make it cost more, too–plus, such a console still not upgradable. So consoles only focus on offering an optimized solution slightly-older PC components. Consoles target consumer-level sufficiency rather than PC-level proficiency.

Now, I’m not saying consoles are more powerful–just to be clear. I’m merely saying that they’re optimized differently, and for what they do, with what they have, they actually do pretty well. And if you gave a console as much as a high-end PC, it’d probably perform better than the PC of the same specs, given its optimization.

If you prefer PC gaming, that’s perfectly fine. I enjoy it myself (along side console gaming). But I just wouldn’t try to break consoles over the head with them. Consoles are not trying to better PCs.

        • I personally don’t care for FPS games much anymore, personally. You play one, you’ve pretty much played them all. But when I do play them, they’re on PC. Unless it’s Metroid Prime, then I’m gladly playing it on a game controller

But actually, for practically every other kind of gaming, keyboard-and-mouse completely sucks. That’s because a keyboard is simply not ergonomically-designed for gaming.

The only games that benefit from the keyboard-and-mouse are FPS games, RTS games and MMORPGs. Anything else, you need a controller. I don’t play many FPS games (the genre’s so stale now), I don’t care for many MMORPGs (except Guild Wars 2, but nothing Western-style like WoW), and I love RTS games, but it’s nothing a GamePad can’t suffice.

As much as many PC gamers typically tout the superiority of keyboard-and-mouse, even the best of them eventually break down and buy an Xbox controller for their PCs. Some games just suck with keyboard-and-mouse.

There’s not a racer in the world that feels good with keyboard-and-mouse. And fighting games just belong game controllers, with only arcade joystick peripheral being better.

Even with gaming with a gamer-designed keyboard, I still prefer to game on a couch rather than at my desk. And there’s something more pleasing about gaming in front of a TV rather than my computer monitor.

It’s rather silly how folks constantly compare consoles and PCs, They’re two different kinds of gaming, each catering to two different kinds of experiences. Of COURSE, PCs are going to be more powerful–they’re built to be upgraded. But I find that chasing gaming PC tech specs is a chase that never ends.

I like gaming on my PC, but when it comes to a more comfortable gaming experience and the exclusives I actually care about, I turn to consoles. I’m sorry, but as much as PC offers, there’s simply no equivalent of The Legend of Zelda or Metal Gear Solid V on it.

      • Andreas Sunde

All they have to do is announce mod support, and I’ll preorder.

      • Elem187

You can get a GPU that will run circles around the ps4 for less than $250 if you already have a desktop.

And a $400 GPU (Radeon 7970) is more than 2.5 times faster than the entire ps4 box… The rest of your components don’t really matter because how much Sony cheapened out on the CPU (tablet/net book CPU). Any desktop CPU made after 2007 will walk all over the AMD jaguar that’s going into ps4/xBone

Any computer you get that sports a PCI-E port, like an e-Machine($250-$300) for example, drop in a Radeon 7850 ($150) and its already a bit aster than the PS4. Lets not try to get into hyperbole on the ps4’s performance.

        • You either have poor reading comprehension or you’re just dishonest.

I said that you’re just not going to buy a gaming PC with PS4’s specs at $399. Even if you buy a reasonable graphics card for about $189, you’re still not going to build the rest of the gaming PC for less than $400. You try building a quad-core CPU/8 GB GDDR5/1GB GPU all for under $400, complete with connectivity with other Sony devices.

And, in case you haven’t noticed, I’m not comparing the PS4 to a fuller high-end gaming PC. Learn how to read carefully. I merely said that for the specs that PS4 offers, you’re simply not going to build a gaming PC with the same specs for the same price.

A mid-end gaming PC built from scratch will run you about $600, unless you just use totally cheap components for your PC, and then which case you’ll be replacing parts soon and often. Oh, and by the way, the average PC gamer simply doesn’t have a high-end rig, which will set you back about $1000+ easily.

The point isn’t to compare the PS4 with high-end PC gaming. The point is to compare that for what it offers, PS4 is a steal. It’s still plenty proficient for powerful gaming with high-quality visuals and with features that even PC gaming doesn’t enjoy. Playing a game as you’re downloading it? Not even PC gaming at large does this.

I’m not getting into hyperbole–you’re just failing to comprehend what I actually said. Though, if you’re going to keep this up, if you can just please spare me your fanboyism, that’d be nice.

I’m already dealing with it left and right here. I’ve been a Nintendo fan longer than most here have been alive, and I haven’t even been much of a Sony fan in years, but even I will give credit where it’s due.

      • Guest No. 3

And you have to pay for online. Thought I’d add.

        • Paying $5 a month for a service that carries over to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. Sony will need the service fee to cater to the many server-based services they’ll be offering. Servers aren’t cheap to maintain, but yet many Nintendo fans seem to think they making online services free is something easy.

Nintendo’s online service is free because it’s, to be honest, watered down. There’s so much more Nintendo could be doing with its online service, but it doesn’t, because they’ll have to start charging for the service to offset the costs for providing it.

As a nice touch, Sony’s offering free games with the service, and letting existing PS Plus members carry their account over to PS4 and PS Vita. Plus, Sony’s offering a heck of a lot more than what Nintendo’s offering with their online service. Storing all your gameplay footage online? Cloud saves? Allowing you to play a game as you’re downloading it? Please! Sony’s $5/month is a pure bargain.

Though, if you can’t afford just $5 a month, you probably can’t afford a PS4 anyways, so you’d have nothing to worry about. The people complaining about this service fee are mostly kids and college students without full-time jobs. Though, even selling lemonade on a street will get you $5. Sheesh.

    • Leo

They will do it and they must be planing to do it months in advance. They are already taking out of the market the basic WiiU to put its price on the Deluxe WiiU.

      • Rey Hardy

My god…Nintendo has made a statement about that. THEY ARE RESHUFFLING THE SUPPLIES AROUND IN STORES. NOT PULLING IT AWAY FOR GOOD.

        • Guest

Perhaps you’re not hearing us carefully–Nintendo now has to do it. There’s simply no question about it. Given the choice between an obscure and struggling Wii U for $350 and a popular and well-supported PS4 for $400, the majority of holiday shoppers are simply going to pick the PS4.

Even a number of Nintendo fans here on this very page (myself included) are planning on picking up a PS4, in addition to the Wii U many of us already have. Nintendo has to drop the price of the Wii U to cater to the cost-conscious parent doing their shopping, and to better appeal to the gamer who has $400 in their pockets to spend.

If they drop the Wii U down to about $250 while offering some solid titles like SSB and Zelda, they might just gain good sales with people who decide to buy a PS4 later and a Wii U instead, just to have a console with games for under $400.

You can’t judge that Nintendo won’t make a price cut simply because they haven’t thus far. Nintendo will have to respond to the PS4’s price, or else, suffer the losses they’ll surely endure from looking overpriced–even more so than many people already view them as being.

    • 150Db

I disagree about the need for such a drastic price drop. Even if they were the same price, I’d absolutely buy a Wii U. Why?

The GamePad truly does offer more fun than yet another graphical boost. Some Wii U games will actually be in a HIGHER resolution than PS4: 1080p + the 480×854 Gamepad screen. (PS4 games will not be in 4K.)

That, and playing online is now ONLY free on Nintendo’s machine. Support only the Wii U to keep online gaming free. Otherwise…? The next Nintendo system will also charge for it (or there won’t even be one).

      The math is easy:

$350 for a Wii U with an excellent game + use your existing Wii Remotes and external HDD ($0) = $350

      $400 for a PS4 + 50$ each per new 2nd, 3rd, 4th controllers + $250 for 5 years of online play = $800

      • You younger fans get me with all your unsubstantiated claims. Please show me where the Wii U will have games that “will actually be in a higher resolution than PS4”? The PS4 is 4 times more powerful than the Wii U–how in the world is it not capable of handing 1080p better than a Wii U?

And no, kid, the GamePad not a justifying factor for the Wii U continuing at its price. I’m speaking from an economical standpoint, not a fanboy standpoint. I’m a realist, not a fantasy-driven fanboy with no sense of reality or honest about situations.

Reality says, if people have the option to buy a much more powerful console with a nice selection of games for only $50 more this holidays, short of the Nintendo fans who buy anything Nintendo makes regardless, most people are simply going to pick that console over Wii U. They’re not going to care how much the GamePad might be worth the Wii U’s price. But if the Wii U was cheaper, it just might grab some attention as a nice second choice. Sorry if the truth hurts.

Also, don’t bring up the “free online service” with the Wii U. The Wii U’s online service could be better and you and everyone else here knows it. Nintendo could be doing so much more with their online service. Sony’s only charging $5 USD a month for their service, which is necessary, since they are allowing gamers to store their games on their servers for easy streaming, cloud-saves, and video-sharing features.

Perhaps you don’t know this, but servers cost a lot of money to maintain. Sony’s going to have a helluva time managing all those servers. You can’t expect maintained quality for free. But in any case, you pay for the service which carries over to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, and plus they’re offering some free games. It’s a better deal that its worth. Only kids without jobs complain about a $5/month service fee. Anyone who can buy a PS4 for themselves can afford $5 a month. I’m sorry if you have to rely on your parents to buy it.

And please don’t hand me a bunch of bogus fanboy-driven math, that carry no real relevancy to the world of economics, all in fallacious fashion. I don’t mind support for Nintendo, but at least be honest about it–don’t just spin things your way to make Nintendo fit want the equation you want to blindly see it. Adding a game with a Wii U makes the purchase more than $400, and external HDDs aren’t free, so how about trying some REAL math now?

But I can tell I’m not even dealing with a reasonable person. Your dishonest reasoning thus far and your totally bogus math lets me know that I’m dealing with someone who’ll spin things just to “win,” and no matter what you say, you’re going to equate Nintendo as the “better” deal, even though that’s really something relative.

Truth of the matter is, Nintendo cannot expect to make great sales this holidays with a $350 Wii U sitting next to a $400 PS4. Think whatever you want, in blind fashion, but facts are facts–economics tells me that most people are going to buy what amounts to being the much better deal. The PS4 is worth $500 as a product, and is being sold much under its actual value.

And while Nintendo has some solid titles coming for it (though, we haven’t even SEEN them yet to truly count them as such for sure), so does PS4. Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, two Metal Gear Solid games, Grand Theft Auto V, Driveclub, and a bevy of games in development. Believe it or not, not everyone likes Mario Kart out there.

        • 150Db

I gave a few simple facts, and you responded with a complicated rant. I’ll respond to a few points you made: First the math. A 350$ Wii U already includes a game, so no, adding a game does not push it over 400$. The ZombiU pack includes *2* games, and a Pro controller, and is *still* under 400. Almost all Wii owners already have external HDDs which they can migrate to use with the Wii U, so there is no cost there. At most, a 500GB hdd is about 50$, but you would be lying to claim you don’t already have one you could use.

You’re being willfully blind by ignoring the not-so-hidden costs of the PS4. PS3 controllers are not compatible. Prices haven’t been announced, but will be at least $50 per controller. So yes, that is another 150$ for people who want to play local multi. The PS4 at $400 does not include a game, so add another 60$ on day one. And you can ignore it all you want, but you will pay 60 or 70$ per year to play online. As you said, at least they do offer some value such as free games, but I’d rather save that much money to buy a game of my own choice each year.

This math is not “bogus”: for a system capable of local 4-player, online gaming, and including one game, the Wii U is $350 and the P.O.S.4 is $680 (counting just ONE year of online fees). Smart consumers will see the difference. I guess you’re not one of them.

As for Wii U’s higher resolution – read my original post, I explained it clearly. Wii U outputs max 2.3MP compared to PS4’s max 2MP. (That’s “Mega-Pixels”, understand?)

Next, Nintendo’s online service works perfectly well. It’s never crashed or been mass-hacked like the PSN. I don’t see the need for cloud storage of games or saves – that’s much slower than simple local storage. Miiverse, the eShop, Web Browser, Youtube, Netflix and online multiplayer all work perfectly.

The PS games you mentioned don’t appeal to me. They are all isolation-inducing games – none of them are even local multiplayer. I like playing games as a social experience, not as a teen rebellion thing about being pissed off and blowing shit up. Mario Kart, Mario games, Nintendoland are all feel-good games that promote real-life social bonding, and therein lies their value.

Lastly, your personal attacks. I’m 29, not a “kid”. Gaming since Mario 3 on NES.

          • Don’t cry just because I totally revealed your dishonest reasoning.

What facts? I thought I told you to provide me with some substantiation to your bogus claims. Adding the 1080p attainable with the Wii U with the 480×854 resolution available on the GamePad does not equal to the Wii U haven’t “HIGHER resolution” than the PS4. You apparently don’t know jack-shit about evaluating technology.

You can have a low-poly model on a full 1080p screen, running at 30fps. It doesn’t mean it’s going to look better than a high-poly model on a 720p, running at 60fps. It just means you’re going to have an ultra-crisp-looking low-poly model you can preview at 30fps. This is an analogy of the Wii U to the PS4.

Playing a numbers game about the resolution of a console that’s four times less power than a PS4 doesn’t mean anything in reality. I’m not bashing the Wii U’s resolution output, though. I can respect your preference for Nintendo. I’m just revealing your dishonest bullshit here. You’re not honest.

I can go on refuting you point-by-point, but by this point, you’re just showing more blind assertions. I don’t have time in my life for this. You might not be a kid, but the way you reason unfairly, I honestly couldn’t tell. I wasn’t joking–I really did think you were like 16. They too often play these false number games.

    • Rey Hardy

So you want Nintendo to lose $150 per console? Yah no. Smash Bros alone makes the price fine.

      • I’m sorry, but nobody’s going to buy a Wii U at $350 while the PS4 is going for only $50 more. There’s no doubt about it–Nintendo needs a price cut now. It’s not about what the Wii U’s worth–it’s about the fact that no one’s generally going to spend close to $400 on anything less than a PS4 now this holidays.

And actually, Nintendo makes most of their money from games, not just console sales, but they already keep their consoles with a low manufacturing cost. Better to take a lose on each console, provided if you have solid selection of titles to many that money back come the holidays.

    • firstinflight

I doubt Nintendo would drop the price a full $100. That’s essentially requiring two more (or maybe three more) game sales to break even per system. I’d suspect they’d price Deluxe at $299, bringing it a full hundred lower than Sony ($50 less than their current price).

  • Anthony Stewart

Well I’m gonna be a Ps4 and wii u person this next gen.

  • peeer

Seeing the launch price for PS4 I feel a price drop coming for Wii U…

  • iPedro1000

I’ve always said that Nintendo was well positioned to compete in this generation because of its one year head start and more affordable hardware. By the time the PS4 and xbox one are finally launched, the WiiU will have an impressive game library and a system that has had its bugs worked out. On the other hand, the PS4 and xbox one will have their inevitable launch bugs that will be in the spotlight during the holidays and launch titles that won’t yet show off their power — it’ll take devs a year or more to learn how to harness its power.

So during this holiday season, people will have a polished WiiU with system sellers WiiFitU, Zelda, MarioKart, and very likely a new 3D Mario — said to be the most extensive ever made — plus favourites like Pikmin 3 and LegoCity Undercover, bundled with an innovative touch screen gamepad for $299…. versus consoles that won’t yet be demonstrating their superior power other than on spec sheets, likely with bugs in the news and with a limited library for between $400 and $500 bucks.

Core gamers have probably already made their choice but mainstream consumers (the ones who handed the Wii its win last gen) will be looking favourably at Nintendo. Nintendo’s lower power won’t show for 3 or 4 years when PS4 and xbox one devs will have been able to exploit those consoles’ full power beyond what the WiiU can do but by then the winner of this generation will have already been established in terms of systems sold. With the final details learned today, I’m confident that the WiiU has a fighting chance at winning this generation and at the very worst coming in second. I expect the sales numbers for WiiU to shoot up this month now that the fence sitters are ready to come down.

    • Leo

Very well said! Nintendo must be shooting fireworks as we speak! They can easily drop the price without any significant loss while Sony will struggle to keep the price at $399. Sony can’t play the price game lower than that. Nintendo is laughing at their faces.

      • Andrew Chambers

Unless the lower prices where just to kill off M$ from the gaming industry. Sony and Nintendo get along quite well, they respect each other. I don’t see that respect directed anywhere near M$. Just look at the Sony conference. I don’t think I’ve ever seem a CEO attack a rival company that bad.

      • Trust me–Sony’s not going to struggle to keep that price of $399. They’ll easily become a best-selling electronic this holidays, and they’re priced low enough to where many people will feel comfortable adopting it early. Let’s not have our fondness of Nintendo blind us from facing the fact that Sony knocked the PS4’s pricing out of the park.

    • Andrew Chambers

I think all core gamers would choose the PS4 over X1. The casuals (I mean strictly CoD players) would go with the X1.

    • “… By the time the PS4 and xbox one are finally launched, the WiiU will
have an impressive game library and a system that has had its bugs
      worked out.”

I’m sorry, but merely announcing games is not the same as actually having an impressive game library. Let’s just wait and see what Nintendo has to offer first before calling it “impressive.” It’s good to have confidence, but we don’t want to count our chickens before they’ve hatch.

  • MetroidZero

I’m going to rage if the Deluxe Wii U is going to be $299. I got the Basic set for that much, and I am planning to get an external hard drive.

    • At this point, Nintendo needs to make the Deluxe Wii U at $250. Seriously. This is not a drill, Nintendo. Sony went HAM.

      • And then Nintendo needs to do another Nintendo Ambassador program for all those early Wii U adopters like you who bought it all full price and have hung tough with them during their slump. This is a Code Red from Alpha Niner Bravo, Nintendo. Sony brought their A game. I repeat, they have cut the blue wire!

You’d need a removable drive anyway. I really don’t think 32GB is enough for a whole gen.

  • Forbsz

Wii U is still the greatest to me hehehe (fanboy I know) but I did enjoy seeing Kingdom Hearts 3 so I might have to get a ps4 now………. Can’t wait for the direct in about 10 hours! Shenmue 3? anyone??

    • PKUltima

KH3 and FF XV will also be on the PS3

    • Guest No. 3

It hasn’t been confirmed whether KH3 is exclusive or not yet.

    • Rey Hardy

KH3 IS NOT A PS4 EXCULSIVE. Might be a TIMED EXCLUSIVE. But we dont know yet on WHAT it will be on when it launches…did say “NOW IN DEVELOPMENT”

  • You are foolish to think the PS4 at $399 is expensive. They showed that the value is worth the cost.

    • That’s what I’m saying. You don’t even have to like Sony to know that they make the deal of the decade there. At that price, Sony’s didn’t just kick Microsoft in the balls–they’re making the consumer-level PC gaming market ache a bit, too, because, I’m sorry, you’re just not going to buy a gaming PC with PS4’s specs and value in free services, all at $399. A Nintendo fan should still give credit where it’s due. Well played, Sony.

      • SmashFinale

        Its not all free.
Online gaming is now subscription based.
        But it’s only 5$ so no biggie…

        • Yeah, esp. with all the money you save in not buying a Xbone… xD

I can respect a subscription-based online service when it’s truly providing me a great service. I understand that not everything in life can be free, and esp. when they do have server costs to consider.

And yeah, Sony’s definitely going to need those $5 subscriptions, with all those live-streaming features and that fantastic PS Plus membership offering they’re offer.

          • Arthur Jarret

I used to own my own gaming server for 25 bucks a year… mainly played multiplayer Jedi Knight academy on it, including vehicle mods…

That was good enough for 50 people to play simultaneously without any lag.

So the prices are still a bit high for me – especially as it’s still unknown if you’re able to use your ps+ games once the service is discontinued… so I’m on the fence about the paying for online.

However, offline only games like kingdom hearts 3 warrant the purchase of the console.

Edit – due to some silly reason, Brian’s comment below is moderated and under review while all he does is bring solid arguments and points against my post… so I will reply here:

Yes, I am seriously comparing it to my personal server – which I maintained whenever it was being used – with an entire complex infrastructure of servers running a customized network solution.

More users are using it and it runs a lot more functions… Even so: my server was made for 50 people. So 1$/person/year.

How many people use PSN? If the total cost is actually divided by the amount of active users, how will that final number compare?

            It’s a 49$/year price difference… 50 times as much…

The price is steep if it would only concern server space. Especially since both PC game developers and Wii U offer this for free.
That’s the main reason why i never got an Xbox. (Not due to the cost, which is not THAT high – but more because of the principle of the thing)

Playstation plus completely destroys my ‘not enough value’ argument, though.

However – I think the playstation 3’s entire online support will be discontinued some time after the ps4 is released.

I don’t know this for sure, but seeing that Xbox (the first one), PS2’s and more recently the Wii’s online servers were discontinued some time in the next generation it is likely to happen.

Due to the online validation needed to play the free plus games – I think these will become

This is the reason why i didn’t subscribe to plus yet – and which is why I’ll be hesitant to do so for the PS4 come November.

        • Rey Hardy

$5 a month is $60 a year so its Xbox Live all over again lol.

        • Well, I meant the free bonus content that comes with the subscription, actually. I know the service is $5/month.

  • bizzy gie

Huge kudos to Sony for sticking up for us gamers. No DRM and no online check. Glad Sony cares about the customers more than the money.

  • Christopher Johnson

    ps4 ftw

  • John Doe

I’m sick of hearing about this price-cut bullshit. The price of the Wii U is more than reasonable. It’s not like when the PS3 first came out and Blu-ray was just coming to light and they were asking $800 for a console. I personally believe Nintendo is incredibly generous with their pricing on a majority of their consoles over the years. Focusing more on intuitive gameplay than crammed full of features to drive the price up, yet still manage to maintain free online network and full backwards capability as well as an array of exclusive features.

    • Mochlum

I kind of agree, but a price cut for Wii U would

      1) Raise sales, since consumers would see how much cheaper it is then the others.
      2) Raise attention, since a price cut would probably be reported on electronics/news sites.
      3) Raise hype, for new games coming out like Smash Bros, Wind Waker, 3D Mario, etc.
      4) Possibly add an Ambassador Program for people who already own the system. (I was really bummed to miss the 3DS’s Ambassador Program, so I really would like some of my own exclusive downloadables… I know, I’m greedy….)

      • Rey Hardy

Yet in the UK Wii U was getting price cuts upto $100 and guess what? NOTHING HAPPENED. People dont buy a GAME SYSTEM THAT HAS NO AAA GAMES. Once the games come Wii U will sell like hot cakes.

  • Cameron

This gen is all about the PS4 and Wii U, but we all saw that coming after the Xbone unveil. I bet that the Xbone will never go away though, mindless fanboys will just jump on the sinking ship, and potentially keep it afloat.

I’m getting a PS4, but not day one. Maybe after all the launch bugs are gone and a game that interests me hits shelves. Although the games the showed seemed good, I’m still going to wait for that one title that pops out.

  • SuperSmashMan2

So, I’m guessing this makes my choice easier on rather or not I’d buy a PS4 or an Xbox One:
‘HEY KIDS! You can either get free online play, better graphics, Kingdom Hearts 3 and no Always Online for 399 or you could get limited play, TV and always online check and even more bullshit for 499!!!!’

    • Guest No. 3

Except you have to pay for Sony’s online.

      • Andrew Chambers

        No you don’t. That’s PS+, it’s a different service then Live.

        • Arthur Jarret

PS+ is required for online gameplay. Both offer ‘free’ games as a bonus.

But in 1/2 years – they will discontinue the online service for PS3: What will happen to your free ps+ games then?

          I’ll get the PS4 – but I’ll buy offline-only games.

  • Lusunup

I guessed the Xbox One right!
    PS4 i was off by $200 :/
But that aside Wii U is on par with both of these consoles so nintendos is obviously going to dominate on sells!

    • Andrew Chambers

Yeah, I wasn’t expecting the X1 to cost more with cheaper hardware, but I did forget to account for the required Kinect…

  • It already curb stomped the Xbox One, it just has to fend off the PS4 now.

  • Nintendofreak

anyone knows if kingdoms is coming this way… MICROSOFT is getting killer instinct for the x-boner :/

    • Petri

      Dont worry.
Just block your mind from it.
The Frankenstein monster they’re cooking up, is not the Killer Instinct you might have loved.

Yes, its sad that Microsoft is desecrating once good/epic franchises.
But unless you have the money to battle against it,
next best thing you can do, is just to ignore it.

      • Arthur Jarret

        Spinal – the X-bone warrior.
Like Halo and Fable, it might always come to games for windows so they can recuperate development losses after the xbox one fails

  • Mochlum

PS4 has a good price IMO, at least compared to last generation. Usually I only get two home consoles per generation, so Wii U and PS4 win for me. They’re the cheapest (as in cost AND fees), they have the most games so far, (Xbone only had a few games that caught my attention), not to mention games like Smash Bros, 3D Mario, and Wind Waker on the Wii U, and Crew, Transistor, and KH3. (I haven’t seen anything on Final Fantasy yet, btw.) Sorry Xbox Done, you only have a few more months to persuade me to lay down $500.

    • ItzameyaToad

Plus the cost of Xbox Live Gold each year so add $60 to that plus the cost of one or to games $60-120 so thats quite a bit of money to lay down. And don’t let Xbox defenders tell you that you don’t “Need” Gold subscription to do anything, you basically need Gold subscription to do anything at all and to make your console worth it(FYI if you haven’t ever owned an Xbox) I would know lol have(had) been paying for gold since around the time of Halo 3’s launch.

  • Petri

    I paid 399โ‚ฌ for Wii U deluxe here…
Nintendo kind of screwed over Europe, when they announced retailers can decide the price.

But I can see our retailers going for 449โ‚ฌ for PS4, unless Sony has the final word on it.
    But anyways.

Price is competitive, much more appealing than xbox.
But that box, is just god damn ugly, I dont really want it in my living room.

Maybe if our next apartment has a gaming room (activities room, hell, my room unless I have a daughter in near future), it might fit there.

Xbox certainly wont be worth to waste a second thought.
But with PS4, I’ll wait and see.

    • ItzameyaToad

Same here I think I will watch PS4 very close and scrap up some money just in case I do decide to get it come November. I however think the PS4 looks awesome and much nicer than the Xbox One, though not as sexy as the Wii U ;). It really looks like the Wii U will get alot of compettition in the UK seeing as PS4 will be at the starting price of the Deluxe Wii U(here in the US) although the Wii U may be much cheaper in the UK with all the retailers giving it a price drop. Good to see competition either way.

      • Petri

I guess I should scrape the money together too.
And if I cant get myself to buy PS4, I can spend it on Wii U games, or in my PC.

    • Andrew Chambers

Well, if it really bugs you I’m sure the PS4 slim will be out by 2015-2016.

      • Petri

Pay for online kind of killed it for me.
Seems like I’ll stick with Wii U and PC.
Maybe buy ps4 as blu-ray player, after couple of years.

    • Arthur Jarret

What if you get a son?

      • Petri

I’ll put him in the same room with my first son.

        • Arthur Jarret

Ah… but here’s the kicker: what if you get twins?

          • Petri

            More the merrier.
All boys = one room with bunk bed.

If I had a girl, I might have to give up my gaming room.

          • Arthur Jarret

The more the merrier? America’s next octomom!

Seriously, that should be a show…

  • Norfair20X5

    Suck it, Pachter.

  • uPadWatcher

It’s official… Sony have brutally murdered Microsoft! PS4 at $400 to XboxDone at $500. Time for me to add the PS4 along with my Wii U this holiday season.

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Thanks Micharl Patcher for all your predictions LOL LOL LOL, PS4 nailed it, Let see if he is going to keep his XBOX fanboyism

    • Andrew Chambers

I’m going to go with yes. He’ll probably praise M$ for their innovative used game fees.

  • Jack5221

I’ll be honest. Im getting a PS4. Those games they showed on looked pretty damn cool. But they’ll never replace my love for Nintendo exclusives ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Norfair20X5

Same here, I was skeptical but wow was that all impressive.

  • ChiwawaBoi

    PS4 only 399$ I was thinking about….600. boy was I off.

    • Petri

I placed my bet on 500, 399 actually surprised me.

I wonder how much loss theyre going to make per console.

      • ancientgamer

ya i also bet at 500$ they sure shocked me

  • oontz

    Wii U price cut in… 5… 4… 3…

    • ItzameyaToad

Not to be a naysayer but I don’t see it happening until around the launch of PS4 in November. Not saying it won’t happen I just don’t see the probability of it happening at least not right now.

      • oontz

Agreed but they must be preparing for it now… I don’t think even Nintendo saw that price point coming! That is an amazing piece of tech for only $399usd. Any and I mean ANY informed gamer is not going to by the wiiu for a similar price as the ps4. Needs to be a big difference!

        • ItzameyaToad

True, or Nintendo needs to push bundles harder or drop the price point. For example I got the Zombie U Wii U deluxe set, so basically I got a deluxe 32gb Wii U with Nintendoland,Zombie U game, a pro controller and a bunch of art from the devs(booklet of drawings of zombie sketches etc.) all for around $410($379 + shipping and taxes) so I saved about $60 by buying a bundled version, if I had bought everything seperate(Wii U 32 gb= $350+Zombie U = $60+ Pro controller=$50= $460 total) it would have cost me roughly $460. My point is they need to push bundles to make the Wii U that much more of a competition. “Oh I can get two Wii U games and a Wii U for the price of a PS4 system”

A price drop will also help though and im sure Nintendo was thinking $450 for PS4. Who knows though they could have predicted it by thinking the way they would price it, who knows will have to wait and see in 8 hours what there plan is.

        • Guest No. 3

I’m an informed gamer. I would still buy the Wii U. Because I would buy for Nintendo games.

  • ItzameyaToad

Good to see the PS4 at such a low price and none of the restrictions that the Xbox One has.I say it is good to see because 1: I will most likely get a PS4 and 2: having an appealing price point such as $399 is great for keeping Nintendo on there toes. This will make Nintendo push harder at making the Wii U both the cheaper option by about $50-60(perhaps $100 if Nintendo drops the price at PS4 launch) and the place to get great 1st and 3rd party games that offer an experience not available on PS4.This is shaping up to be one of the best console generations and I am really excited to see what Nintendo and Sony continue to push out this year and next year!

  • It’s over for MS – and Nintendo Wii U!

    • NkoSekirei

yea right douche wen nintendo reveals its big lineup for wii u u be eating out of the garbage with ur troll friends

    • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

This reality… a new Mario, Mario Kart and Smash Bros…. and tons of millions of Wii U are going to sell like hot bread.

      • Those games are not enough unless they look mind blowing.

        • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

          Im counting on that…

      • Well, since they are not coming out until well into next year, it is a case of too little, way too late. Nintendo should have these out the gate and better stuff next year. Nintendo’s tired, predictable games library has made the public grow tired of it and MS’s very big blunder sealed the deal for Sony before even one system is sold! I never heard of a system having a victory before they are released!

    • RockGod

The Rock doesn’t like your tone, jabroni

  • oontz

How can you justify saying that the ps4 price of $399usd is rather expensive when the tech they are offering for that price completely DESTROYS the wiiu, which is still selling for $349usd?????? ARE YOU THAT MUCH OF A FANBOY!!

    • Leo

Does Sony has the Gamepad? No. So, please, shut it!

    • ancientgamer

really, destroys? pretty sad that the 8 cores ps4 has only looks slightly better than the wii u’s 3 cores

  • ItzameyaToad

Also on a side note did Sony ever explain what the big sensor bar loking thing is?

    • Petri

      PS Eye camera?

      • ItzameyaToad

Thats what I thought it was

  • Mark Thom

  • Mason742

I wouldnt say ps4 has a rather expensive price. It is 50$ more than the Wii U Deluxe.

    • oontz

Exactly I think mr. Kinsley is smoking crack!!

  • Knguro

Not only a price drop man. Here in Mexico, because of importation taxes we have to pay over 570 USD. Ain’t that insane!!!!!

  • Mc Robins

    • Guest

Quite frankly with alot of the people that made Rare what it used to be gone from Rare Microsoft can take them with them as they turn of the lights lol.

  • Nolan ArchLord

A Wii U price cut is totally necessary now. $199 for a basic set and $249 for the deluxe could potentially create a shortage this holiday season. $399 for a console with… what was it… 500GB of storage? At that price point for the PS4, the Wii U’s storage is shockingly low given it’s price point. Yes, it was released a year ago, but even still it’s not like the hardware is on the same level as the PS4 and it’s storage was a joke then.

I love my Wii U, and I am hoping it succeeds. Please don’t take any of this as a disliking for it.

    • I can only agree with you. The price for ps4 is way lower then any of us expected, seems like at least someone learned a lesson from a sale (ps3) if ps4 get’s the games also then ps4 is becoming like a hot girl in a wet tshirt contest very pretty and sexy. Seriously 399,- ps4 299,- wiiu… For the ps4 hardware it’s really cheap while the wiiU is actually very expensive now with it’s hardware especially compared to PS4.

I love Nintendo always did and always will but not getting a wiiu at launch is probably the best choice I ever made. Nintendo is in a corner now and they have little choice.

This concludes it for my next gen house: WiiU and PS4.

i wonder how many games sony requires you to buy b4 they make any money off of their system.

    • Petri

      Wild guess, 4.

      • Logan Waltz

subscribing for online play over the life of the system will make them the money back, probably. that’s how i’d market it.

        • Petri

But how many will actually pay for that?
It was the strong point of last gen.
I for one dont have time to play to justify paying for online.

        • oontz

You only need a PS+ account which is super cheap compared to xbox live considering you get FULL games for free all the time… look at this months free games, saints row the third and deus ex human revolution + 3 more full games for being a ps+ subscriber. 49.99usd a year for 3 or more free games A MONTH… plus online multiplayer, That is HUGE!

  • person

Still, that’s only $100 more than the best WiiU SKU. This is nothing like the PS3-Wii price range. Nintendo really do need top drop the Wii U’s price by $100/ยฃ50 and I bet Sony will be taking a hefty loss from each PS4, sold.

    • Logan Waltz

we forget that sony’s $400 price tag is attributed entirely to multiplayer subscriptions. if you wanna play with friends, you’re gonna spend a hell of a lot more on ps4. sort of like how 360 players dropped cash on it for a decade. that’s the money.

  • Josh Castleman

Wii U needs some games..bad..sports games for one…other than mario kart and few other games.. see nothing to look forward to..I hardly play my Wii U…I wish all games were on every system more like good ole days ๐Ÿ™‚

    • ItzameyaToad

I don’t see sports as that big of a “need” to have but I agree it needs more games but perhaps not “bad”. Really it has a solid amount of games and by the time PS4 rolls around the Wii U should have a fairly large library of games.

  • kevin nun—-

Got a Wii U for BO2 since it was on Wii where I had my first COD experience and I loved it. I thought the Wii U would make a difference with the new franchise, sadly it didn’t. Extremely bad decision, I know. I stuck with it, the deluxe set and game took me a little more that $400 off my wallet. PS4, with it’s 8GB RAM of power, touchpad controller, and set at $399, makes me regret buying a Wii U. I hate to say it, but I am hoping to sell my Wii U, if anyone would even buy it, for a PS4 as I can only afford one. I know many people will disagree with me, fanboys most likely, but you can’t go wrong with that pricing. I really hope the Nintendo Direct set for tomorrow shows off awesome games, 1st party titles as well as 3rd party titles, a amazing Metroid FPS game, new online features, and perhaps hidden facts about the Wii U’s hardware that don’t make it stand so weak in power compared to the PS4. I also hope that the summer update for the Wii U cuts the loading time by an extra half. One can hope.

    • ItzameyaToad

Im no fanboy but you obviously bought the Wii U for a reason other than BO2 and it is rather silly that you would want to sell your system you only have one game on it because you are excited after seeing PS4’s reveal. I bought my Wii U for the exclusives and I knew that 3rd party would be much stronger on Wii U than Wii which it is, and weak 3rd party on Wii is one of several reasons I bought a Xbox 360. My point is is think logically about why you bought a Wii U and wait until PS4 launches to make a move on selling your Wii U. I say wait because from my experience I get one item then see another new item a few months later and get really excited about it, sell the old item only to want it back later when new cool stuff come to it. My advice don’t sell your Wii U, at least wait until the PS4 launches and the Wii U gets some 1st party games under it’s belt to make a big decision like this.

  • Dez

Microsoft is done, they’ve utterly lost this gen. Wii U and PS4 are the only consoles worth buying and each has their own respective benefits. PS4 is certainly cheaper than I expected though I had predicted $400 at cheapest. Sony is losing a lot of money on that starting price, the software sells need to be stellar to make up for the loss per unit. No one needs to worry about Nintendo, people will always go for what is cheaper especially when it has a stronger line-up. The graphics war is slowing, as graphics begin to scale eventually the details become more minuscule.

I find John Kinsley by far the worst writer on Wii U Daily, but this article isn’t bad. Still, there are a few things I disagree with; everyone continuously calling for Wii U price cuts would be one. Nintendo isn’t going to drop the price of the Wii U for a while to come. They are already selling at a loss which is uncharacteristic for Nintendo. Moreover, Nintendo isn’t discontinuing the Basic set though I wouldn’t rule it out in the future. The only thing I’d like to see from the Wii U aside from things already on the way would be more room to store game data, so you wouldn’t have to rely on an external hard drive.

Sony has made the correct moves this generation. With their clever trolling of Microsoft, it is all the sweeter. Personally I can’t wait to see what Nintendo has in store tomorrow with their Nintendo Direct and any other surprises held in reserve. Nintendo will be able to really gain an advantage this holiday season though, count on it.

    • Joyous Killer

Don’t see why you had to bring John Kinsley up….

  • Guest

As the attention whore I am I think 499$ is a cheap price. I could stop come here for attention and instead just sit in front of my allways on surveillance camera. 499$ for Microsofts eyes on me all the time is nothing, my body is ready.

But Im happy to see the PS4 wasnt too expensive. Will pick up that at some later point in the future.

    • The Xbox One’s DRM, stupid emphasis on the largely-gaming-useless Kinect 2.0, weak showing of solid exclusives, registering games just to play them, always needing to be tethered online just to play the damn thing, and bogus treatment of second-hand games lost me with Microsoft. Even bypassing the price, I still can’t stand having Microsoft putting digital reins on my gaming.

Plus, charging $500 for a console that’s weaker than the PS4 is ridiculous. I don’t see how anyone can stand to like Microsoft after they’ve pretty much just given gamers the finger. They’ve lost their minds! There’s just no excuse for all this failure in one sitting.

Microsoft needs to immediately offer a Kinect-free, DRM-free, disc-based, $350 version of Xbox One to save themselves.

  • Alexander Kleinwechter

I dont really like final fantasy or kingdom hearts, so im not gonna buy a ps4 just for that

  • $39063977

considering the games anounced, the price ain’t too high. “The Division” will sell both systems like candies

    • theblackfrog

that game was totally awesome….well wii u + ps4 = gamers heaven like in the old dayz…

      • $39063977

yeap. PS4 is a must have – the tech will take us through all the hardcore gaming for the whole of next gen. Wii u gives u access to all the Nintendo goodies. It’s a steep price to pay to get both, but it is possible. Those who already have a Wiiu will/should get a PS4 next gen. Those who don’t should get a PS4 first and invest in a Wii u when a couple of games come out. After seeing all the glory at E3, the Wii u will not satisfy anyone as a first buy system. Got to have it though if you are into the whole Nintendo thing.

    • But dat Final Fantasy XV dough….

  • Marco2k7

Let me say that PS4 with that hardware at a mere 50-100$ more than WiiU is a huge deal. They are surely selling with a big loss but still…it’s next gen graphics with only 100$ more at the most.

  • Zombie_Andrew

Nintendo you’ve been called out, you NEED a price drop of at least $100

  • Douwe de vries

I’ve got a wiiU and am happy with it especially when they announce the games we want this afternoon via the Nintendo direct. But i will also buy a ps4. Nintendo with their firstparty titles and ps4 as a gamers powerhouse will both win. I think Microsoft will have a hard time especially in countries other than the US where all those tv options will likely be not available.

Wii U deluxe costs 350โ‚ฌ here.
But we havent got any price cuts or special offers.
Basic went from 300โ‚ฌ to 250โ‚ฌ though.

Nintendo kind of scewed us over, when they let retailers decide the price in Europe.

  • Adecentboy777

Well, after seeing the shows yesterday many gamers will buy PS4, cause the PS4 is clearly the best choice. I already regret having bought Wii U for 350 โ‚ฌ, cause it’s not worth it, no wonder all the retailers are alredy sinking the price, even if Nintendo is against it. The price will be changed at least once again before PS4 and the BOX arrive and Nintendo will have to show some real good games very soon, not only typical Nintendo stuff, but more in order to survive the Next Gen blow, otherwise they will end up like SEGA. I predict Nintendo not more than 30 million sold unit in total, that’s it. BUT I hope I am wrong. We’ll see! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Relick

What makes the WiiU not worth it for you?

I think the PS4 look awesome, but really not much different from my PC and the exclusives for it are spread few and far between. It might be the console of choice for others but I’m going to wait until the price drops for both the PS4 and XBone before even considering buying them.

Which is a shame because I like Halo ๐Ÿ™

      • Adecentboy777

I am/was a Nintendo fan for a long time, but the missing and postponed games on Wii U really disappointed me. The Wii U Gamepad is not used that way it should be, Nintendo’s relationship with 3rd parties is not the best, it’s pretty bad to be honest and all this is much better in case of SONY, that’s why I own PS3 too. AND I love everything about PS4, no restrictions, like in case of Microsoft, awesome hardware, real power for stunning games, even if graphic is not everything, but it’s part of the PACKAGE ๐Ÿ™‚ AND I love the exclusives. I think that SONY has the best exclusives beside Nintendo. AND that’s why I need something for my Wii U. I bought it in November and played only Super Mario Bros U on it and Mass Effect 3, which was a port. I need some real stuff on it like Mario 3D or Zelda, which are coming, but Nintendo should have released them at lunch and not a year later – that’s a shame. That’s why I am disappointed and that’s why I regret bought Wii U on first day. It was because I believed Nintendo, wonn’t happen again ๐Ÿ™‚

        • RockGod

The Rock thinks that’s a tragic story… now don’t let the door hit you in your candy ass on the way out

On the way out I am gonna tear apart the building with my 200 pounds muscular body and it’s gonna be fun but I’m gonna do it in a polite way since I am a decent guy!

Smart move Sony! โ‚ฌ400,- Isn’t a lot for a console with that hardware.

    • Petri

Our retailer went and priced Xbox One at 530โ‚ฌ.
Guessing PS4 will be priced at 450โ‚ฌ.

  • FlyingBoat

500 dollars is completely rediculous, i reckon, and i heard somewhere that its like 600 for australia and even more for UK. what with all the negative things about the xbox one, and the negative things about microsoft consoles (paying for online, ugly colour scheme), its actually making me want to buy a ps4. and i didnt even get a ps3.

plus, all those games they showed today looked great, but then i realized there was nothing really origional. metal gear meets red dead redemption – who cares, if you want stealth mix it up with watchdogs. mechas meet COD – who cares, we gonna get mechas meet monster hunter. then theres that game about making video games – theres already a game on steam called video game tycoon or something along those lines. and other than that we get more fps.

    • Destructonator101

Mate, EB games in Australia priced the Wii U at 600 bucks at first until the actual price was annonced and the SKU’s. So the Xbone here in down under will be like a trillion dollars.

Or as Dr Evil says it will cost:

      • FlyingBoat

be funny if that was what microsoft were saying when the were deciding on the price.
“lets make it one billion, gajillion, fafillion….yen”
        “Sir, thats not a number”

  • sd

I really was hoping the xbox would be my next console. No chance with the game rights and price. Probably opt for PS4, at least ps plus is a good subscription and not a bad price.

But to get to the Wii U, the gaming experience on this is awesome, obviously it needs more games. But it is a great machine. Plus really if you like games you need a wii U, then you can choose between PS4 or xbummed.

Ask yourself a simple question by the end of the year which console will have the most exclusives. In addition to the half dozen exclusives at the moment there will also be 2 x sonic, Smash bros, mario 3d, mario kart, pikmin 3, wonderful 101, zelda wind waker, luigi, game and wario, wii fit U, (maybe x and bayonetta 2), plus any others I have forgotten. What an amazing exclusive list of games. I can get my third party support on the other system that I buy ( PS4 unless unless the xbummed gets new rules regarding games).

Yes things have been slow, but from next month I predict at least 1 exclusive game (min) per month, with a heap in November/December.

    • RockGod

Interesting… I made some release date predictions. Here we go -June- Game & Wario, -July- Wonderful 101. -August- Pikmin 3. -September- Zelda: WW HD. -October- Mario Kart. -November- 3D Mario. that’s as far as I got but so far I was right about 3 out of 6…

    • I say, let’s not count our chickens before they’ve hatched.

    • sd

Well smash bros, mario kart, x and bayonetta 2 are next year, but they have said all the others are this year along with donkey kong, Thats a reasonable number of games I guess.

  • Pameliza

Micro and Sony are throwing things away now that everybody knows how horrible their new XBox One and PS4 are. And they wanted to talk stupidity about Nintendo and the Wii U.

  • Destructonator101

does anyone proof their articles? mistakes are everywhere.

  • beerkin

Love the Wii U!!!! I have played owned NSMBU, Darksiders 2,
Ninland, Ninja Gaiden, Assasins Creed 3, Arkham City, Little Nferno, Sonic Racing, LEGOcity, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Cave, Trine 2, Nano Assault, and at least five more titles. I just dont get the whole no games argument. Is a wonderful VERY young console. I need to go on a gaming ite blackout. Im tired of people trying to ruin my fun. Haha!,

    • RockGod

I don’t get the whole no games thing either… I own 12 retail games for a system that’s been out just 8 months, I’m actually trying to figure out how I can afford ALL the games that I wanna get for the rest of the year….

    • John Andalora

Well, for one, some people have an Xbox 360, PS3, or some form of computer and could already get most of those games listed (Darksiders 2, Assassins Creed 3, Arkham City, Trine 2, Sonic Racing, Ninja Gaiden, Cave), while others were just cheap remakes of the same games from past consoles (Super Metroid, Super Mario World).
After that, from your list, you have NSMBU, Nintendo Land, LEGOCity, Little Inferno, and Nano Assault.

Now, when most people talk about “lack of games,” they refer to lack of new games only for that console. Not to hate on Wii U, but most of the games released for it were either on old consoles or released months ago with little changes from their new console.

I’m glad that you’re having a lot of fun with the Wii U, and I’m glad that you like all the games you’ve been playing. However, those who don’t like the game selection have probably already played most of those games and wanted something new.

      • beerkin

I own a ps3 as well……guacamollee and tomb raider right now on ps3 other games on my wii u. dude I have owned a ps3 since the sIim came out. between the ps3 wiiu and 3ds I can barely keep up.

        • John Andalora

Frankly, I don’t really like too many of the games out on Wii U, so I don’t really have to choose between them too often. The only games I’m interested in that are cross platform will be Rayman Legends and Watch Dogs.
So, my Wii U just isn’t ever on.

  • Cerus98

I think JK forgot that both the PS4 and Xbone require a paid subscription to play online – something the Wii U can do for free. If he thinks that doesnt matter to gamers then he’s an idiot. The deluxe is already sold at a small loss. Getting rid of the basic doesn’t pave the way for a price cut. It’s still $100/150 cheaper than the PS4/Xbone.

    • If someone can’t afford $5 a month, they most likely can’t afford a PS4 anyways. That problem rather solves itself. But hey, the online service is pretty much everything the Wii U’s online service should’ve been all along–that all comes at a cost. Free isn’t cheap.

      • Cerus98

It’s not about 5$ a month. It’s about more nickel and diming of gamers. Right off the shelf a PS4 will cost 450 and a Xbone 560 for anyone not already subscribing. While that might break down to a few dollars a month its still an extra 50-60 right then and there to do something Wii U gamers, PC gamers and past consoles have been doing for free. For many that will mean one less game purchased at launch since most people live on a budget. Congrats to you Mr Money Bags for being rich and tossing hard earned cash down the toilet but the rest of us don’t appreciate being robbed by never ending added costs.

        • oontz

Ummmm, ps+ users on average get 5 free full games a month. Doesn’t sound like a waste of cash to me.

  • PS4 is ranked first in Amazon America Movers & Shakers (previoulsly was 33,543,now it is 1.)Sales rose up by 3.354,200%!

    • Better said,3,354,200%!(three million three hundred)

  • Noah Umana

I think XB1 is the best console of all of them, I could write a book about this, just to summit all.
XB1 got Direct X first hand any thing else it just second hand.

    • RockGod

IT DOESN’T MATTER! The Rock wipes his ass with a XB1!

      • Noah Umana

That is just one of the reasons why The Rock couldn’t give two craps from a monkey’s ass about a PS4 or XBone!

  • ATherohatch

tbh im going to buy ps4 and xbox one. ps4 is definatley better but im one of those people that has to have every console

    • You either have parents who buy you the consoles, or parents who are paying for your college which frees you up to buy $900+ worth of consoles. There’s no way you can be the average adult paying rent. xD

      • ATherohatch

its called saving up cash and earning a good living, that and the money you have spare from living at your girlfriends parents house.

      • audi lover

        Na its called working hard

    • Luffy

i usually get every console as well, but i wont get the xbone until i can get for like 20$ on a garage sell, and that is just because i want to put it in my collection, on my shelve of failed console next to my cdi, atari jaguar and virtual boy

  • firstinflight

Nintendo replied to the rumors that Wii U basic sets were being discontinued. They aren’t being discontinued. I’m surprised this rumor persists on sites like this. http://www.examiner.com/article/nintendo-makes-statement-on-wii-u-recall-rumors

    • They’re not being discontinued, but they need to be, to allow the Deluxe set to be sold as the only model available, and at $250 now, to stand a chance as marketable this holidays. Sony brought the pain with that $399 price tag.

      • firstinflight

Whether they need to be or not is a different discussion (personally, I never understood why they sold them to begin with…the $50 difference was always pretty minimal for what you got).

I’d just like a little more journalistic accuracy from WiiUDaily…

  • I made this up in response to the XBOX One and PS4 details

  • devmiles

Nintendo can play the price game but believe me, the ps4 is going to be a huge succes with epic titles from day 1, not to mention xbox one. real gamers don’t care about $150 more for a console that does so much more. i hope nintendo realizes that before that time nintendo owners can’t be satisfied with some luigi-u, pikmin and zelda remake stuff and VC titles, just can’t… that would be a companies failing strategy. the wii-u will get that same status as the wii ”nice to have on the side machine” while the big AAA titles from big devs will be only on PS4 and Xbox. it’s fucking sad Big N but you need a serious kick in the butt

    • RockGod

The Rock thinks you need a XBOX ONE n a PS4 bound together, shined up real nice, turned sideways….. you know…. you like it….

    • Luffy

for now, i only plan on getting a ps4 for kingdom heart 3 and final fantasy 15. not much else that i look forward to… hope it change

  • Sami Rautio

My thoughts about Ps4 even i own a Wii U this console seems interesting ๐Ÿ™‚
and remember to watch Nintendo direct it’s going to be awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

Well it looks like Microsoft is dead in the water
    it’s a PS4/Wii U generation

  • RockGod

A little over an hour away… I’m going on no sleep… I hope you’re ready to blow our minds Nintendo

  • Per-Nilliz Edward Nilsen

the price on wii u doesnt make it more attractive.. i pree orderd the
wii u and then traded in my ps3 for it… it was a mistake which i have
now undone. that nintendo call wii u a nextgen console is just
embarresing. nintendo wii u is a joke that only apeals to kids as wii

i was hoping for xbox to make a stand but
no… complete suicide… ps4 will rape all contenders in this
    ”console” war.

and to pay less then 5$ a month for online play when
you get a free game every month ( you also get drive club on release if
you have plus) is not even of remote interest. get a grip

    • ConCity Soldier

      You are beyond lame.

  • ElladanCZ

And PS4 beats the XBone by 100 bucks.

  • Jecko

LOL I can remember all the Nintendo Slurps bragging ps4 would be at least $600!!LMAO!!
Sony shocked the world when they priced it so low for next gen!!it is only $50 more expensive than a Wii U deluxe!!!
Hmm $350 for last gen cack gimiick console or $400 for a true next gen system?
Bye bye Nintendo your direct was a joke and I said all along that they would be dead after E3 and i was right!!!

    • sd

      Such a dick ^.
Ever thought of owning both, oh wait you need to get a job and for that you need an education.

  • Potemkin

    This and Wii U then.

Hate the f*cking box though. I wonder who makes the design for Sony consoles.

  • howling_wolf1334:[

Okk, Ill buy a PS4, looks fantastic… All the specs, price, games… Yeahhh…

  • sd

The PS4 has been repriced in Australia at 547 at harvey norman and 548 at JB. Thats a big price hike over the wii U tho, which, “if” reduced could be as low as $350 for a deluxe edition.

  • DWraySweZ

is it just me or isnt that the xbox one but standing upright, i am so confused… kinect and everything right there. wow… if im going to get a spy machine might as well get a ps4…

  • Weraru

    Xbox dOne isn’t a problem…

  • Logan Waltz

i figured that sony would release ps3 games on ps4 for free to phase out the older system.

  • The-Master

I predict that the PS4 and Wii U will win next gen.
    (Stating the obvious, right)

There’s no point in owning an Xbox One console.

  • Semi_Auto

Why do people assume people moms go into stores blindly to buy consoles all the time. Kids tell there parents what they want. It is up to your parents whether they want to spend there money on that system. As a kid I never left it up to my mother to just buy me a console I told her I want an SNES I want a Genesis. I think most kids are still like that. I also feel that most people who make comments like “mothers are going to buy a Wii U cause its cheaper.” When they where kids they probably told there parents what they wanted to. It’s kind of a weak argument to make that Wii U’s are going to sell better because of price. If you want and PS4 you want a PS4. The same goes for Xbox. If you don’t want a Wii U you don’t want it. The kid probably will just ask for something else…….
