Pikmin 3 boxNintendo has announced the release schedule for two highly anticipated Wii U games: Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U will both be released in North America in the second quarter of 2013, which means we’ll see the games on the store shelves in the period from March to June.

Pikmin 3 was originally a Wii U launch title, but Nintendo decided to push the release due to strong third party support for the Wii U. Wii Fit U is the sequel to the best-selling Wii Fit, and is compatible with the old Wii Balance Board. The game will be sold as a standalone title and in a bundle with the Wii U Balance Board.

Nintendo recently showed off Wii Fit U during its Nintendo Direct presentation, you can find that video here.

NO! It said Q1 about a month ago! I don’t wanna wait another 2-4 months! >:(

If miyamoto needs extra time to make the game even more pretty , then so be it. That new video looks like a a dramatic improvement over the e3 videos. New lighting has clearly been implemented.
I will wait patiently for this game. I am looking forward to Monster Hunter Ultimate in March. Native 1080P Monster Hunter ? YES!!!!!!!!!!

NInja gaiden 3 , Scribble Nauts , Lego City , and others which are already out that I can’t afford yet.

      • Fred

Just because you’re out of money doesn’t mean the rest of us want to wait. I’d love to get my hands on Pikmin. I had just come to terms with waiting until the end of the “launch window” now the wait is even longer. Pikmin is THE GAME that caused me to buy my Wii U.

        • Nintedward-3DS-WiiU

          Well I’ve Just bought a Wiiu ZombiU deluxe £320 , NSMBU £42 , Black ops 2 £40 , NIntendo Land £40 , Sonic Racing £30 , AC3 £40 ….

I have money , but I need to pay bills and stuff like that right now. I will have plentyfull money again by early Jan. I need paper mario and TTT2 this month.

It’s not really a money issue but Like I said , I would rather Pikmin be a full graphical showcase of the wiiu. It certainly looks AMAZING.

          SO MANY games in first of 2013 I need…. about 7 3ds games and 5 wiiu games….

          • prettypinkpanacea

Yeah, I bought the wii u premium with that nintendoland, zombiu, black ops 2, nsmbu and batman arkham city.
Next is white 3ds xl with 3d mario land nsmb 2 and possibly street fighter 4. Too many games, not enough time.
            P.S. Accept my friend request!

          • Nintedward-3DS-WiiU

Will do. Long story short. My wiiu is far away (2 stories from my Router. So atm , i have to take my wiiu downstairs to play online 🙁 . And have been busy recently…

I will add you ASAP ! just hang tight bro 🙂

          • I don’t think the game is being delayed to make it look better. I believe Nintendo said it was delayed because of strong third party support that they wanted to encourage by not releasing too many of their own games.

          • MujuraNoKamen

I don’t know about that, the graphics do seem a little better than
before so I hope they’re going to continue to build on that. But if what
you said is true and they are delaying it just to give 3rd party devs
more support then that makes no sense! I know 3rd party support is very
important, I’m not disputing that, but if I were a developer I wouldn’t abandon Wii U just because Nintendo wanted to release an A grade title that fans have already been waiting 8 years for. I
also fail to see how it would hurt anyone to have more games released
sooner, Pikmin 3 as a launch title would have been great, and if Pikmin 3
is ready to be released then release it if you’re not going to use the
time to improve it. Many games have already been delayed like Lego City
and Rayman legends so they’ve got the titles nicely spread out over the
launch window, by delaying them they’re hurting the release library and
will have too many games launching early next year.

          • ThomasTruong

Unfortunately it makes financial sense to delay this title to outside the launch window. It being absent from launch will encourage sales for third party titles. This benefits Nintendo and the third party.

They also want to stagger releases so there isn’t a big hole in releases at any given time. True, Rayman and Lego City are being released to help this from happening, but Nintendo does not have control on when these titles will be released. They can, however, control when Pikmin 3 launches.

We Want Pikmin! We Want Pikmin! We Want Pikmin!

What about Metroid?Star Fox?Pokemon,Zelda,Fire Emblem,Kirby,F-Zero,Kid Icarus back on a console for the first time after almost 30 years.Another Mario Galaxy perhaps?Maybe a Xenoblade sequel?
The possibilities are infinite for each one of these games with the Wii U(I still have my hopes up for that Pokemon MMO)
      Amaze me once again Nintendo

      • TheFarmboy

Maybe among your cluster-duck of titles listed (although Pokemon is developed by Game Freak, Nintendo is it’s publisher._ No on a Mario Galaxy 3 personally because I want to see a Sunshine 2 or a new 3D Mario. What Xenoblade sequel?

Just be patient, I heard the Zelda game on the WiiU is going to be quite impressive.

        • RoadyMike

Ahem, excuse the 2 month reply but,
          That is all

For anyone still having trouble with registering on Wii U Forums:

Try registering again, but this time, try a different date of birth and username (with more numbers?), try a better and longer password (with numbers and other characters), still use your same email, answer the security question correctly, try using another timezone (you can change that later), and tick/check that you agree on Terms and Service.

This worked for me after countless of tries with same information but 5 different emails. Just changing the above information randomly actually worked for me…

Access Control Panel, and click Edit Profile under M on the side-menu on left-side, to change date of birth. From same menu, click General Settings under My Account, and change timezone.

  • Prid Speed

Nevermind below. The key to register on Wii U Forums, is to have a Username with numbers in it.

For instance, don’t try your username as, coolusername, but instead try, coolusername123, or something, and it will surely work 🙂

  • Is the game still in development?

  • Alec Petzak

This disappoints me that Nintendo put Pikmin 3 aside for third party games. I would rather play a first party exclusive than a Call of Duty Wii U. Why cant it be like the old days were there was diversity in consoles. I dont want Nintendo to fall into the current gen and become another Xbox or Playstation…

  • MujuraNoKamen

Dang it! why’d they have to delay Pikmin?  I understand the need for 3rd party support but releasing Pikmin earlier isn’t going to cause developers to abandon the Wii U. Since Rayman legends, Lego City and, I believe, Scribblenauts were delayed then why didn’t they get Pikmin 3 out if it’s ready? Oh well, as long as they use this time to optimize the game and all then that’s OK but if they’re just delaying it to spread out their games for sake of getting Sing party out sooner then what the hell are they thinking! 🙂
