Pikmin 3 wallpaper 2

Nintendo has finally opened its Pikmin 3 site for business, where fans interested in the game can go to read more about the story, the variety of Pikmin they’ll encounter, as well as all the currently released trailers and screenshots for the game.

The website also features mini biographies for the game’s 3 playable characters, including Brittany the plant expert, mechanic Alph, and Charlie, who brings a rubber duck with him for good luck. The game will officially be available in North America on August 4th.

Don’t forget to check out Wii U Daily’s Pikmin 3 contest, where you could win a copy of the game!

Awesome game, I hope that you guys in the US enjoy it as much as us folks in the UK do πŸ™‚

  • Honest question everyone. (especially our UK friends who already have the game) I was AWFUL at pikmin 2. So awful that I ended up not finishing the game. But pikmin 3 looks really beautiful and really fun… Should I still get it, or do you think I’ll run into my old frustrations?

EDIT: I think I’ve been convinced to pick it up! Oh! One more thing, is there co-op, or just bingo battle mode?

    • Zombie Boy

Definitely get it. It starts off slowly, so you’ll have plenty of time to learn the ropes before moving onto the harder areas which will test you more.

      • Hrm… I like that… I remember in 2 I lost ALL my pikmin to the queen bulborg or something. Like the first boss XD

        • Zombie Boy

Trial and error πŸ˜‰ But you have plenty of time to learn how each pikmin works before anything too difficult, as the game is spread between three different characters with their different types of pikmin, and nothing too hard comes along until you’ve mastered all three. And, as mentioned above, you can go back and restart the day to retry the difficult bits with better knowledge of what’s to come.

          • I really like that feature… I think I’ll pick it up!

          • Zombie Boy

            You won’t regret it.

          • or WILL I?

By the way, is there any multiplayer besides bingo battle? Is there co-op? Online play? I’m pretty sure theres no online play, but I think there’s leaderboards or something? Not entirely sure.

          • Zombie Boy

There’s local co-op, Bingo Battle (which is excellent and great fun) and, as well as story mode, there’s a missions mode (which is all about completing a set objective). I’m not sure about online (my Wii U isn’t hooked up at the moment because I was playing offline the other day and haven’t reconnected it yet), but you do get medals and stuff in the game, which are probably connected to online features somehow.

          • story mode can be co op?

          • Zombie Boy

Some of the missions are co-op, so you can team up with someone to collect treasures, beat a boss, stuff like that.

          • ooh. that’s awesome. I read somewhere it wasnt. So you can’t play the entire game co op though? that’s weird…

do you have to do co op through like, some challenge mode aside from the story?

          • Zombie Boy

No, it’s completely optional as the missions are just like “Okay, today I fancy doing nothing but killing this boss as quickly as possible” and you can do it by yourself or with a friend. But it doesn’t affect the storyline, it’s a separate campaign. I guess it is a challenge mode, in a way. I’m probably not explaining it very well.

          • ooh, i like that. My girlfriend and I can play it together πŸ˜€ (watching a bingo battle video got her excited for the game)

          • timehacker11

Story is not co-op. Zombie Boy is wrong. “Mission Mode” is the mode that is co-op.

          • ah, alrighty

          • Zombie Boy

That’s what I was trying to explain (badly).

          • timehacker11

            LOL. Awesome admitting that πŸ™‚

        • Guest

In this new one, if you feel you screwed up bad, you can go back to a time where all your Pikmin weren’t dead=d…IE You can go back a few days and start from there if you feel you could’ve handled things better

        • Sam

I just beat her! I lost all but three. You’re supposed to just toss a few at her rear at a time and then call them back before she starts rolling.

          • XD I just had them mob her. Every single one gone on the first attack

          • Sam

            That’s hilarious.

    • Yousif Alromaithi

I don’t know I have not tried the game but I have friends that said the game is cool.

    • RockieOllie

I’m going to be honest, you probably might run into the same issues as you did with Pikmin 2.

I suggest looking at some reviews and possibly making a decision based off of the points brought up.

      • I’ve been watching a lot of stuff… Are the pikmin easier to manage in this one?

        • RockieOllie

          It seems like it.
One onion to manage all the pikmin.
Easier to throw selected pikmin and the gamepad helps tp keep track of your pikmin on the field.

It seems like things have been streamlined and refined for this game. Still waiting to get my copy next week, so i don’t know how difficult it gets, but there are tools to help.

          • thanks for the advice!

    • Marcus Navarro

You might be frustrated, but there’s an answer to your anxiety: purple pikmin.
Pikmin 2’s good, but you might be spoiled from playing 3. You’ll enjoy it since you’ve (probably) gotten better at it.

      • there’s no purple pikmin in 3 though XD

    • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

I think you might know that already, but there’s an option to restart at any day πŸ˜€

It helps a lot especially when you fought a boss for the first time and totally fucked up (like I did on the third one lol). I just went back to the day I encountered him and got some more Pikmin and it was a lot easier, because I already got an idea of how I beat him before ^^

      • I didnt, actually! (or rather, I forgot)

        hrm… This makes it easier

    • AAAkabob

In this new one, if you feel you screwed up bad, you can go back to a time where all your Pikmin weren’t dead=d…IE You can go back a few days and start from there if you feel you could’ve handled things better

      • ooh… I really like that. Thanks!

    • Andrew Gonzalez

I’m getting it because I want something different from your everyday hardcore violence.

  • dfoz3

Yay!! I preordered at GameStop just to get the early digital release. Here’s to hoping Nintendo and especially GameStop don’t screw this up, I want to play all weekend long!

    • Elem187

Agreed… Gamestop told me they will be giving out the codes on 8/2… So I’m hoping its there as soon as it strikes midnight 8/2.
Over in Europe some recieved their download codes 2 days early and they were able to download the game 2 days in advance… So i’m hoping the same thing will happen, so soon as we receive our codes I’ll be attempting to download it immediately on the eShop.

      • dfoz3

The employee at the store I went to had no idea what promotion I was talking about and couldn’t even find it in their system. After threatening to go to the other store he decided to call them first (I’m sure he didn’t want to let a pre-order walk out) and they showed him how to find it.

After that experience my confidence in this is rather limited. I’ve got my fingers crossed!

        • Elem187

i will be massively angry if there is a problem and we don’t get to download the game at least 1 day early as advertised..
I will probably never, ever buy anything more from Gamestop. it will be the last straw.

      • Mochlum

Wait, so how do you do the digital preorder? Do you do it and they email you it, or what?…

  • Marcus Navarro

Will they have a poll to gauge interest in online multiplayer? It would be nice, seeing as though the game’s 20hrs.

    • RΓ©mi

Technicly the game is longer if you take the time to perfect your score at the challenge map and if you wan to play with friends at Bingo Battle. And myamoto is open to DLC

      • Marcus Navarro

Consequentially, yes. It would be longer if one doesn’t run through the game like an 18-wheeler on a football field.
Since Miyamoto’s open to DLC(as an afterthought, which is commendable), I can only wonder if he’s open to running servers…or letting another company do that under Nintendo’s supervision.

    • AAAkabob

Keep in mind the story mode is 20 hrs but the challenge mode will last you a lot more.

  • Mr. J

will be getting it on day one maybe at midnight. πŸ˜‰

  • JeanPaul

Has nintendo even advertised this game? I haven’t seen anything about it on TV here. Have they had commercials in the UK?

    • Clel

I saw ads both on YouTube and on TV. I don’t watch TV (ever), but as I was switching to the HDMI channel, I saw a Pikmin 3 ad playing πŸ™‚ I don’t know about the UK though.

    • Beat

I’ve seen ads on online videos as well, maybe on hulu or something.

  • SonicLucario

I pre ordered this game almost a YEAR ago and im finally gonna play it in less then a week…..I cant wait *gasps*

  • RoboticLink

Well, the site didn’t really teach me anything, but it’s cool to see that Nintendo is advertising

  • $41809923

    • MoodyG355

Same here! It’s good to see that Nintendo is advertising their games, but I really think they should start advertising The Wonderful 101, also…

      • Michael DeVore

TV ads are only good a few weeks before launch. Too early and people end up forgetting that they wanted it. TV ads need to be placed at about the optimal time for sending a party invite which is about 10 days before the event to get interest and then 2 days to get them to come out. Too early and the effort is wasted. I can source that if needed, but it’s easy to look up if want. The only thing they could try to do is boost pre-orders, but with so many going digital on launch day those figures aren’t as reliable as they used to be.

        • Perkoff

I don’t know when the last time was I watched a TV commercial. With DVR’s I doubt many people do watch commercials. I think watching “live” television is becoming a thing of the past.

          • Michael DeVore

Agreed, but when I say commercials I’m including things like Hulu. Which, for me, along with youtube, is a source of commercials on my TV. As for my DRV it is used exclusively for the News, and PBS. However, that’s not everyone. A DVR also tends to keep commercials in the system longer. Neilson does all the ratings for viewership for commercial pricing. People are looking at a C3 stat or commercial viewership plus 3 days for DVR data. Some are now considering a longer period, but DVR’s haven’t eliminated commercial viewership yet. Just changed it.

Who would like to see a fan made movie trailer of Pikmin?

    • Mochlum

What channels? (or is it just in Europe right now?)

      • $41809923

  • sdmac200600

    Just pre-ordered it today πŸ˜€

  • Jack5221

I’ll have to wait until Sept 17 to play Pikmin 3. πŸ™ The game is way over priced here in Costa Rica, so when my brother visits the states Aug 27, he’ll be bringing me back Pikmin 3, Super Luigi (hard copy), and Wonderful 101. So I guess its not so bad of a wait.

  • timehacker11

It has been open for at least a week now.

  • Lord Carlisle

Ugh. I was on vacation when that gamestop promotion happened, and missed out on the chance to get this game early. Now I’ve only got Sunday to play it before it’s off to band camp. Eight hours of pure exhaustion matched with the inability to play my new game… tragic.

  • Shota

playing the right now(almost 100% complete)

  • Maraccuda

Does any country have a pre order bonus for this game?
I ask cause here Pikmin 3 came with a clock in a can, and even ML4 came with an inflatable sleep kit (things like a neck pillow and sleep mask).
But I missed out on both.

  • Perkoff

I can’t wait to get this game, the first Pikmin game is one of my favorite games of all time. I never played part 2, kinda odd since I loved the first one so much.

  • TheRealStrider

Who would like to see a fan made movie trailer about Pikmin?
