Pikmin 3 supports local multiplayer gameplay, such as the Challenge mode, which supports 2 players and is a cooperative mode. In Challenge, players team up in order to collect as much fruit in a given time period. Both players can use the Wiimote and Nunchucks to play — the GamePad isn’t required (but can be used).

Check out two gameplay videos that show how the mode works: the first video shows the co-op game mode, while the second video shows the new Bingo Battle mode, where players compete with each other.

Pikmin 3 has been very successful in Japan — Wii U sales doubled after Pikmin 3 was released. Nintendo currently has a Wii U eShop deal where players who purchase Pikmin 3 get 30% off on The Wonderful 101.

Wasn’t that eShop deal just for Europe? If it’s here in the US now I’ll definitely take advantage of it.

  • Nintedward

This game will be mine on Wednesday or Thursday 😉 I get games as soon as they are delivered to my local game store 😀

    Really excited for this game!

    • Edward

I got to wait until August 4th for Pikmin 3 to hit the US. I did find a good deal for Kirby’s Dream Collection for $7.99 at Best Buy. I’m thinking about getting Steel Diver for the 3ds too for $4.99. For those of you that don’t have Nintendoland for the Wii U they have it on sale for $17.99 also.

      • Nintedward

KDC for $8 is a steal!

        • Edward

I know I couldn’t believe my eyes and was glad that I hadn’t bought it already. It’s a Back to School deal, about 2 years ago I got Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, Metroid Other M, and Rythym Heaven Fever all for 4.99 for the Wii.

      • Steven_Segal

Dang, that’s what I call Early Christmas deals!

    • sharlo galmo

Yo Nintedward take a look a this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnjoovkX6ro

  • Shota

Really gonna play this game with my friends

  • Pikachief

Excited about this game and the multiplayer!

Question: Can I play multiplayer with one person on the TV and the other on the gamepad? And the whole game can be played on gamepad for single player right?

    • That’s something I’d like to know too

  • Maxid765

Looks like a good game to me, not a day one buy for me but looks like something I’ll eventually get down the line IMO.

  • Re4wii2008

If only I had a bit more money I would be able to get this game this year but I made the choice for Wind Waker HD (the original Wind Waker for the Gamecube was my first and favorite Zelda game) and Super Mario 3D World (Not the 3D Super Mario game I wanted but hey it’s Mario and I still want for Christmas!) I already brought Need For Speed Most Wanted U, Resident Evil Revelation HD on Wii U, a brand new 3DS XL and Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon! next year I’m gonna need a second job for all the Big Wii U games coming out!

  • david jarman

I’m so buying this. I will pay the full amount cause I want the hard copy with cover and booklet. Plus, I don’t mind fully supporting and paying for high quality games.

  • Ducked

If only I had friends that would play games like these. Sadly, the only language they speak is Call of Duty. *sigh* Looks great though…

    • Nintendofreak

team deatmatch, free for all, first blood, bloodthirsty, revenge, headshot U.U

    • Mario

      Tell me about it.

      • Ducked

Yeah if it don’t involve guns and killing, then it ain’t fun for them. That’s the United States for you…*sigh*

        • oontz

Wow way to pigeon hole an entire nation of gamers.

    • RoyRelapse

Some of my friends which I only played Battlefield and other shooters with are actually very excited for this game, we all got sick of playing shooters only..

      • Ducked

        Thank God for you…lol

        • RoyRelapse

More like, thank gamedevelopers for creating so many shooters !

          • Ducked

Yeah lazy people who think about money

  • Edward

For those of you who don’t have any of these Wii U games they are on sale at Best Buy in the United States for cheap. Assassin’s Creed III and Call of Duty Black Ops 2 are $19.99, Nintendo Land is $17.99 and Family Party: 30 Great Game Obstacle Arcade is $7.99. For the Wii Just Dance 3 is $9.99 and Kirby’s Dream Collection is $7.99. These are pretty good deals. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=3775536495192763064&id=pcat17071&type=page&ks=960&st=GL_BTS_Video_Games_20130721&sc=Global&cp=1&sp=&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1%7E%7Eq474c5f4254535f566964656f5f47616d65735f3230313330373231%7E%7Enf424%7C%7C4e696e74656e646f205769692055&list=y&usc=All+Categories&nrp=46&fs=&iht=n

      • Edward

I had bought it at $40 but for a buy 2 games get one free special, so it wasn’t that bad.

  • Joyous Killer

Wow… Its weird to see Josh on here… I have been subscribed to him for over a year now… I should go tell him about this, see what he has to say.

    • Pikachief

      They said they can’t lol

(don’t downvote me for “trolling” or whatever. it is what they said)

      • oontz

Nintendo said they can’t? WTF it’s 2013, if you want online co-op and multiplayer it should be no problem for a tech company such as nintendo.

    • kevin nun—-

Yes! co-op and multiplayer, I don’t get why people downvoted your comment.

      • Luke Wilson

b/c they are exactly whats wrong with Nintendo, the company is stuck in a world were online multiplayer doesnt exist and so Nintendo doesnt care to evolve b/c people are complacent with how Nintendo does business (like theyre still in the 90’s)

  • MrDownvote

Hello everybody MrDownvote is here and he is now going to take care of all of your downvoting problems.

    Yours Sincercely,

  • Magnus Eriksson

Nintendo sure make huge launch windows 🙂

  • That Bingo Battle turns me off to this game more than I already am. That’s like one of the worst play modes I’ve seen in awhile. Just saying…

    • Pikachief

You don’t have to play it. I personally really like it. I feel like it fits perfectly with the Pikmin series.

  • Johny

ok first of all… a VERY important question about multiplayer and for the game itself.
can one player just use the GAMEPAD screen and the other the TV screen in multiplayer ??? because that one of the features of WiiU i was MOST excited for when i bought it…. : “non-split split-screen mode” , and a very advertised and unique feature that makes people go… wow. you really CANT do that on other consoles. Please make this nintendo… dont let the gamepad capabilities go to waste 🙂
secondly… i hate to say it.. omg i hate to say it so much, because so many retards say this with nearly EVERY nintendo game, but… damn….. multiplayer looks so awesome. i Wish it had online :/

  • sd

John Kinsley you are a pretty poor reporter. Your last line states “Pikmin 3 very successful in japan, Wii U sales double after release”. This line appears correct based on the information everywhere. Then your next article states Pikmin 3 first week sales disappoint. You then skew the facts painting a bleak and negative spin on this story. You ignore information, such as these being 2 days of sales, and write an incorrect article with a negative spin that shouldn’t be there. To make things worse for you your articles contradict one another. that’s just poor.
The fact is many readers of this site are getting fed up with poor reporting and you will lose readers from this site. If you learn to report more accurately you will gain the respect of your readers.

  • oontz

    so no online multiplayer?

  • Pikboss

The only thing that pisses me off with Pikmin 3 is how they sort of design the game around the Wii remote. DK tropical freeze seems to be designed that way too. I mean come on why can’t they just use the gamepad, this is just going to confuse casual gamers about thee Wii u even more.
