Pikmin 3 became officially available yesterday and we’ll have a review up soon, but if you haven’t picked it up yet or you’re curious about the game, Nintendo has just released a new video to help explain things. The video does an admirable job of explaining the story before the game as well as showing off new gameplay, so both players new and old to the series have something to enjoy.

Have you already picked up Pikmin 3, or will you be doing so shortly? Let us know in the comments!

  • Jack5221

Bought Pikmin 3, but I have to wait until Sept 17 to get it, along with W101 and Luigi DLC (Physical Copy) 🙁 I WANT IT NOW!!!

  • Ony

Have it since it’s release in Europe but I don’t have 5min for myself to play it, and that’s make me really sad :'(

  • Rukiafan Rukiachan

Pikmin 3 is a perfect fitting for a title of Shigeru myamoto caliber. Proven to be one of the most successful developers in the industry, Pikmin 3 is certain to capture the hearts of Nintendo fans in 2013.

With Pikmin 3 achieving recognition across the globe with it’s award winning graphics and innovative gameplay, Pikmin 3 will push the envelope even further by harnessing full power of the Wii U Home Entertainment Terminal. Effectively transforming the Wii U into a next generation console before our very eyes.

    Rated E for Everyone.

    • insomniac

      perfect review
      thank you

    • Mariokartfann

I’m surprised that this game got an E rating when there’s many deaths involved in Pikmin!

      • jonen

yeah, it bothers me so much to see one die that im trying to complete the game without a single pikmin death. just beat the Vehemoth phosbat with no deaths yet

        • Michael Ocampo

Nice jonen I was about to beat it when it sucked up 5 pikmin R.I.P.

        • Gecko Altair

hahaha, that was me too! until the next day. my wii controller ran out of batteries and i lost 50+ pikmin. too depressed to redo the day

          • jonen

bummer, should have had the gamepad nearby. i find that the best way to play with zero deaths is to plan all days carefully. i always start off killing enemies so they wont kill pikmin right before the day ends (really annoying), i carefully use swarming and bomb rocks to try to avoid deaths. i always prepare for boss fights one day and take em on right as the next day starts so that i can retry without losing other progress and i use many ultra spicy sprays. too bad there is no ultra bitter spray though

          • greengecko007

Ultra bitter spray was so broken, I’m glad it’s gone. One of the reasons Pikmin 2 was so easy.

        • greengecko007

Hardcore pikmin playing right there. Not giving anything away, but I kept restarting the day on the third boss because I would lose like 20 pikmin in one attack, plus the entire battle took SO long. This is easily the hardest pikmin game in the series.

      • greengecko007

        Mine says E10+

    • lonewolf88

  • SonicLucario

I am currently obsessed with this game, its my first Pikmin game and I’m seriously loving it. Cant wait to play more of your games Nintendo on the WiiU :’)

  • greengecko007

Got a set of Pikmin stick-on patches with my purchase yesterday for informing the Gamestop employees that Pikmin 3 was infact scheduled for release yesterday, and that it would probably be a good idea to go into the back room, get a copy, and sell it to the guy with $60 ready in his hand (me).

    • kevin nun—-

      • greengecko007

The clerk at Gamestop gave me a set of what looks like patches, but are actually strung together stickers of a red, blue, and yellow pikmin for informing him that Pikmin 3 was supposed to come out yesterday. He was all like “Here take this, it’s supposed to be for employees but you just saved me from getting in trouble with the manager when he comes in.”

    • Michael Ocampo

Had to do the same thing -_-

  • Ford Crews

The video shows a lot of wii-mote and numchuck play, they aren’t required are they?

    • Ice Climbers

No they aren’t required. You can use the GamePad or the Pro Controller as well. The GamePad has the very handy map, but the pointer controls with the Wiimote + Nunchuck are more precise.

      • greengecko007

I am loving this game. Been playing it nonstop since yesterday, and it’s the entire reason I bought a Wii U. But I have to say, it’s very disappointing that the gamepad, the Wii U’s biggest defining feature, is the inferior controller choice for Nintendo’s first HD 3D game.

      • Ford Crews

I thought the gamepad had all the wiimote abilities with built in ir sensors, why can’t you point it like a wii mote/numchuck? If it doesn’t why oh why didn’t Nintendo put a clip on the bottom to clip a wimote onto the gamepad where the 2 functioned as a super wimote?

  • Ducked

People, this is a Wii U. It is Nintendo’s next generation console. That’s right, it’s not a add on to the Wii. Yes, it’s a HD console. Yes, you can even play games off TV using the Wii U gamepad. It’s also the only 8th gen console to have free online. It’s also the only 8th gen console to be backwards compatible. Yes, and Nintendo software like Pikmin 3 are finally coming out.

    You’re welcome Nintendo.

This game is beautiful! Somewhat tricky until you learn how to manage your pikmin (if you’re noob like me) but totally worth it. My daughter and I haven’t tried the MP yet but is a good purchase definitely!

  • Andrew Gonzalez

    Bought it yesterday 🙂

  • TheGamerGeek128

Looks really fun. Can’t wait to get it.

  • kevin nun—-

I would like to enter the contest but I can’tbreally chose who is my favorite pikmin since I’ve never played the franchise before.

  • RoboticLink

    This game looks awesome

  • Michael Ocampo

Kinda sad how when I went to pick it up yesterday at gamestop the guy said it wasn’t out for another 2 days but I told him it came out on the 4th and they even had a flyer hanging that said it comes out on the 4th. He was like oops and brought out the games but there were only 6, and all reserved. I went to walmart and they didn’t have it up either so I told the guy to put it up and after 20 minutes he did.

  • 00EpicGamer00

Can’t wait to get this for my birthday 😀

Only downside is, it’s on the 27th of August…..Oh well, good things come to those who wait, I suppose.

  • Rémi

Bought it yesterday, played it till day 4 for now, I find it so cute and funny while at the same time it capture the awesome spirit of adventure that is present in every myamoto’s games. As a little Koppai in a big world where a cellphone is ten time bigger than you, it amaze me that i’m always eager to discover new part of the world and overcome obstacle with specialised infantry known as Pikmin. Seriously i really like this game and can’t wait to finish it and play the challenge mission 🙂

    Good job Myamoto’s team

  • Gordon Tillett

Got it August 3rd and it is fabulous! Very addictive gameplay. The only con is playing HD games for a long time gives me a headache.
