While the Wii U launch is still a few months away, Nintendo is already shipping promotional materials to retailers. Several stores have already received display materials in North America and Great Britain. So far it’s nothing more than display boxes meant to get some attention from gamers at the stores. The below image was spotted by a member of the NeoGAF forums at a local GameStop. It’s a series of boxes displaying some of the Wii U games, including Nintendo Land, Ninja Gaiden, and New Super Mario Bros U. As we get closer to launch, Nintendo will ramp up Wii U promotions and advertising, and the first place to start is always at retail where a lot of people buy their video games. Nintendo has said that the Wii U price and release date announcements will be unveiled next month in September. It’s likely that we’ll get a sense of which direction they’ll take in regards to promoting the Wii U — will it be something that appears to the core gamers, or something like the famous Wii TV-ads?

Yah! i cant wait to steal them!

    • zam

my body is ready and set let gooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gPadWatcher

The Wii U buzz continues and already GameStop is showing full support to Nintendo and its 8th generation console… Wii U. I’ll continue anticipating until it’s released before Black Friday.

    • NoPUNintendo

I’ve a story to share. I actually went to GameStop to buy Child of Eden for PS3, and the cashier was on the phone with(i hope not a customer but a buddy), explaining that the “Wii U is some brand new controler for the wii. It’s touchscreen and suppose to be a basicly an Ipad. I bet next year Nintendo will announce their 8th gen console. But it’ll probably only be as good as the 360.” I explained that the Wii U is a console, and of course, more powerful than the 360 could ever be. He laughed and said “That’s impossible. Look at the Wii. Now look at the 360.” It’s these kind of people that sadden me, not because they claim to be “gamers” but because, it’s true, a lot of people still think the Wii U is a Wii add-on. But over time, I hope, that most people see that the Wii U is a console.

      • Truth

        Yea…yea…cool story bro…

      • SanPharaoh

I wouldn’t have even explained it that far. People will recognize when they get to play it.

  • Britton

Wahoo! These next few months will get crazy leading up to the launch. Everything Nintendo!

  • yorgen

    awesome boxes 😀

    • grey poupon

      indubitably, fine sir.

  • SuperShyGuy

Great now we need some 1080p Wii U trailers so we can show the fanboys that the Wii U can do it.

    • D2K

I think that Nintendo should start sending Wii U units to retailers so that the buzz can grow even louder. I saw have the Zelda HD trailer, the Japanese Garden Demo, and maybe a few NintendoLand games on a promo disc. They can always put trailers of upcoming games on there as well.

  • TheBoldman67

I can see the Wii version of Black Ops in the Back-ground.

    • Kirbo99

And? Shit, I can see the Wii Just Dance game in the background…

    • Oracion Alpha

Well they are hardly going to put these up in the Playstation section are they.

  • NoPUNtendo

I am buying 2 Wii U systems. One for me, one for my friend. I mean, why the hell not? I’d buy 10 Wii U systems if I could.

    • Kirbo99

You’ve got one lucky friend there.

    • Braulio500

Can I be your friend too? =D

      • NoPUNintendo

My new years revy thing(I’m bad a spelling) was to give away one free item a month. Heck I don’t know what to give away in December, but I’d happily give someone a Nintendo Wii U. Of course if they wanted one. I already got what Items to give away this month, September, October, and November.

  • NoPUNtendo

Furthermore, I’d wish my gamestop had this setup. I’d drive over there now just to stare at it.

  • Wii Uoops!

This is one of those weird moments where I don’t know what to say or how to comment so I just say

    • Nintendude

Hello Wii Uoops! We meet again…

  • Nintengoth

    • Wii Uoops!

      Hey, you stole my mojo.

      • Mid-core Gamer

Did you get that from Austin Powers.

At first I thought displaying the promotional materials to retailers was too early but then I realized that doing this this early was the right thing to do in order to grab a lot of attention before release so now I’m glad they’re doing this now.

  • CSM0

Bring back “Wii would rike to pray”. Please.

    • Nintendude

      Or they can say:
Wii would rike to pray with U.

      • LazerK

        Sounds kinda creepy e_0

  • Wii U Gamer#19

Or maybe a totally new tv ad’ Wii U Play with me XD.

  • gameflow

…hmm… I am sceptical because of the big “nintendoland” ad. Does this mean, Nintendo is really planing to sell nintendoland separately? I hope not 🙂

    • Kyron

Good point there. I hope that’s not the case though.

      • LyingTuna

That’s how I interperated it. Wii u better come with a game… I hate when I go to get a system and there’s no game.

    • Shamus

Since nintendo have worked with loads of 3rd party developers, isnt there a good chance that we will seehthe wiiu bundled with assassins creed 3 or black ops 2? I’d be more happier with that. And does anybody know what the price of a controller will be?

      • BluChuChu

There may be a bundle in the future, but I really doubt it would be available near launch day. Although I think bundles typically include first party games, not third party.

  • GeneralCrocket

    So it begins…

  • afro ninja

wonder if theyllbe releasing more of them

  • Hi8us

One more month til the hype train really starts to kick it into high gear. Any companies still doubting Nintendo, will regret not having any games ready for this next console.

  • Ledreppe

I’d try and swipe the display boxes if I went into that store, but i’d probably get caught!

  • Nintendonoob

Im happy that Nintendo is advertising the Wii U. It will show that Wii U has alot of exclusive games and people will like that the Wii U has games that other consoles dont

  • ajfel

    Pikmin looks so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Can’t fucki’n wait!

  • goth magic

    Wii u dog dick smokers

    • Shadriczo

  • FennexFox

So this is the start of getting attention from Nintendo. Can’t wait to see what else they have to promote there system.

  • Braulio500

    I can’t wait to have a Wii U in my house! =D

  • gearchin

my wallet,my body and face are ready, it sure will have butterflies once im done picking up the wii u with a ton of games 😛

  • Paul

looks good, ill be checking my local gamestation store today to check it out…

i just hope nintendo dont do a 3ds stunt and launch the console higher for the first 2 or 3 months then lower it by another £100 as ill be mad as hell

    • gPadWatcher

Relax, Paul… it’s Nintendo. It does everything!

      • Paul

        hope so

anyways theres no advertising in gamestation store and hmv but put a £10 deposit @ hmv as gamestation seem to not bother

  • link 5

If they want to sell well in new York show off 3rd party games to show graphics

  • SteampunkJedi

All I can say is I am extremely excited for the Wii U. I would have been satisfied with just a high-powered version of the Wii, but the second screen should open up a lot of possibilities. If they get the marketing and the price right, then it should be a hit.

  • Christian

I’m so excited! The Wii U looks really cool.

  • MR.nintendo

i dont want artbox i want wii u demos in the stores

  • Joaquim

I think these are the Wii U consoles box art and they include Nintendo Land just see the boxes: one Ninja Gaiden 3 bundle and 2 NSMBU bundles.

    • Bitu

Great e28093 I should caenritly pronounce, impressed with your web site. I had no trouble navigating through all the tabs as well as related info ended up being truly simple to do to access. I recently found what I hoped for before you know it at all. Reasonably unusual. Is likely to appreciate it for those who add forums or anything, site theme . a tones way for your customer to communicate. Nice task.

  • tommy the shirt

Cant wait for new xbox n ps4 to blow this shity lil fag console away

    • Shadriczo

    • Paul

playstation 4 and xbox 720 will be over priced and will be copying nintendo with the handheld tablet

xbox 360 and ps3 suck ass

if your not interested in the wii u then go away silly fan kid

    • Nintendo Forever!!

So if you are such an x box and ps fan, then what are you doin on a NINTENDO FAN SITE??? If you don’t like Nintendo, then fine, just stop trolling on those who do!

  • SuperSonic 128

Wii U would like to play lol.

    • Mofju

It weighs you? Egad. I shduedr to think what age it would pick for me. I still want one, though. Let us know how you fare with it. If you like it I may have to run out and buy one for myself!

  • Ben

By the looks of this the boxes are all the same witch a shame because there are allot of other great games coming like Lego city, Rayman legends and ZombiU. I really think they should promote the exclusive games more than the nonexclusive with a club Nintendo card in every exclusive game and like they did on the GameCube and N64 saying its only for the WiiU.

I am getting very happy to just have a Nintendo console in HD for once…I can’t wait to own the WiiU.

  • Ocarina Of Time

regardless of price. 1g or so is going to just the wii u, it’s games and a second tablet and controller.

  • codplayer

cant wait to play the wiiu =D

  • Novum Magus

Pre-order for me! I’ve never pre-ordered a console in my 25+ years, so it’s an exciting time for the new magician. Pikmin 3 and Scribblenauts Unlimited look amazing

  • Aaron

I realized that with the nintendo land promo it means it will not come with the system….

    • Paul

it will come boxed with the console as just like wii sports did with the wii u

  • SanPharaoh

It feels good to know Ryu will finally be coming back where he belongs…the bizarre world of Nintendo. I’m getting even more geeked out than usual.
