Jul 22nd, 2013

On the coat tails of some of the highest profile releases for Nintendo, the company’s stock has risen nearly 4% to levels it hasn’t seen for nearly two years. The influx of mega hit titles like Animal Crossing: New Leaf have contributed to the jump. It’s also thought that China lifting the ban on consoles has caused a huge jump in the stock as well.

Upcoming releases for Nintendo in the North America region include Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, and Pokemon X & Y. It’s interesting to note that according to the NPD group, 225,000 3DS handhelds were sold in the United States just last week. This is great news on top of Japanese Pikmin 3 sales numbers, which amounted to 92,000 for the first two days of being on sale.

Takashi Oba, an analyst for Okasan Securities has strong faith in the stock as well:

“The stock is up from mixing all these factors. The stock is in a upward trend. There may be some investors who are forced to buy back the shares.”

All in all, this is great news for Nintendo as a whole, as even though the Wii U is currently struggling through its launch, the company itself is doing well.

Impressive considering that there aren’t many new IPs out right now. When all of Nintendo’s IPs come out this Fall I expect Nintendo’s stocks to be up 10% or higher. We can’t underestimate Nintendo! 😀

Oh and I have a theory why there aren’t any commercials for the Wii U right now. Nintendo is waiting for their IPs to come out first so when people see a Wii U add they also see all the great games for the Wii U and will buy more games

    • starwars360

Nintendo already confirmed they work on a new IP game. Nintendo will be much better for Wii U once it is become more library by later this year throughout 2014 and 15. 🙂

  • starwars360

We know Nintendo alway back up once better and more games on way. 3DS already helped lots from few years now since 3DS sales much better when Super Mario 3D Land released as well Wii U will climbing each months since Pikmin 3 released last week in Japan and within UK and Europe getting game this week then US by next week. We will see Pikmin 3 help grow up slowly until The Wonderful 101 plus some 3rd party games hope grow up much more until The Wind Waker HD, Watch Dogs, AC IV: Black Flags, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Sonic: The Lost World, Batman: Arkham Origins, Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut, new Mario & Sonic sport game for Wii U, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, new Scribblenauts game, Wii Fit U and some more will help much more and more sales for Wii U later this year. 2014 will much worse better then this year since SSB, Mario Kart 8, X, Bayonetta 2, new IP game and others on way into 2014. Wii U will be rockets sooner then we expect.

Love you Nintendo, no matter what happens. We alway knew you going uphill and downhill. But you did well all times and keep through some pains and force on markets and hope better sales within whatever customers and myself pick up games from your. 🙂

Truthteller. We watch you!!! We knew what you try say!!!!! 😀

  • Ballzbeard

I should have bought in when it dipped into the $11 range. I’m thinking it will get into the low $20s Q1-2 of 2014.

  • Ducked

    I think the 3DS is to thank…

    • starwars360

This yeah!!! Wii U will be later this year. So trolls can shut their mouths. 😀

      • Ducked

After the 1st party releases in the fall Wii U will be right up there

        • starwars360

Yes!! This will real happen!!!. 😀

          • Ducked

And then next year Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros release, then they can’t stop counting the money!

          • starwars360

Yes!!! then ummmm…… X and new IP game and those should release later after MK 8 and SSB. Bayonetta 2 is possible Spring 2014 joins MK 8 business for Wii U’s Spring 2014 library!!! 😀

Cannot wait for Nintendo annouces more Wii U games throughout with Direct during each some months. 🙂

          • Ducked

But there’s still one game the Wii U needs.

Kingdom Hearts III (square enix, you see this?)

          • starwars360

Yes I have and look forward to KH III. I do hope it is coming to Wii U. If nothing happen. I getting this for Xbox One. No choice since might not on Wii U but we do hope one day Square Enix change their mind and bring it onto Wii U.

          • Ducked

I’ll be getting it on PS4. But if hopefully Kingdom Hearts III will come to Wii U, then I can buy both versions.

          • starwars360

Yeah. Xbox One will be for achievements to get for KH III when KH III come out for Wii U I will trade in Xbox One version to get Wii U and keep it for long library. 🙂

          • Ducked

            But PS4 has trophies lol

          • DragonSilths

KH3 isnt coming to Wii U, yet for some random ass reason Xbox gets their 1st KH game? Makes no sense. But even though I dislike Sony, get a PS4 instead cause HOW IN THE FUCK can you get the Xbox One and not feel like you have failed as a gamer? Seriously I dont give a fuck if its Miyamoto himself if you buy the Xbox One your simply not a gamer.

    • Magnus Eriksson

Of course it is. Imagine how much higher it would be without WiiU…

  • Michael Jurado

the wii u struggle is nearly over and haters can finally shut up ^__^ I can’t wait

    • Luffy

can’t wait either! It’s the 3DS all over again! At first, all the haters were screaming against the 3DS, but now, I very rarely see bad things being said about it! 😛

      • Steven_Segal

The excuse for haters about Wii U will be the power, specs and graphics and all that BS but what matters are the games.

        • Luffy

even those have almost die out on 3DS. hopefully, it will also die out on wii u

          • Steven_Segal

Just a matter of time when Mario Kart 8 and X releases and they’ll shut up!

    • Sidney Majurie

The haters will never shut up, but fortunately they will have less and less credibility when Nintendo is once again dominating 🙂

    • they will never shut up >.>

      • Michael Jurado

I know I know but I can hope damn it xD

  • Steven_Segal

Meanwhile my stock will be down 101% when all of these awesome Wii U games release!

    • Mine too… I have already made Gold on Club Nintendo and with my pre-orders and anticipated purchases for this year I will reach Platinum before Christmas.

      • Steven_Segal

LOL, I’ll probably reach Gold when I buy a 3ds! Too many good games coming this year.

  • Wishsong214

Love saying that it’s great news on top of the Pikmin 3 sales…dat backlash at the “Disappointing Pikmin 3 sales numbers” article may have influenced that phrasing. 😛

    • I didn’t write that article, John did. I disagree with his assessment.

      • Deadpool U

Do you know why John seems to like writing articles that discredit Wii U?

        • fireheartis1

I think John is just a troll who needs to be let go from Wii U Daily man.

          • Gecko Altair

John is just knowledgeiswhatsup in disguise.

          • lemonpop301

to far man to far haha

          • Ony

            ^ this

      • e_rocket

That article was terrible, trying to transform a good news into a bad one… shame on John who ever he is…

      • Wishsong214

I know you didn’t write it, I was just curious if noting that Pikmin’s success was in response to the backlash to his article.

      • Maybe someone might want him to check facts and not take information reported 2 days after launch and use that for the whole week knowing that no new information came in the last few days…

  • Yousif Alromaithi

Nintendo will bury Micheal Pachter words, this guys is causing trouble and tricking Nintendo investors and now Nintendo is going to buy atlus. So Nintendo is not dumb after all. Nintendo makes great money on everything they have concert called Zelda Symphony and they make money everywhere so troll analysts should stop.

  • jay
    • Yousif Alromaithi

It prints out gold. Let smash bros come out then you will have your money.

      • uPadWatcher

In the next two months, Nintendo will be printing out PLATINUM!!!!! How WONDERFUL this company is right now.

        • Yousif Alromaithi

They will trust me because I bought a WIi U for my kid brothers when I headed back home for the summer after my University studies at USA. My sisters children saw my young brothers Wii U and how fun it is so they started to become jealous because they love Lego City and Nintendo Land. Today my sisters children bought a WIi U. So I went with them and bought a deluxe Wii U with three games. I believe the Wii U will see more sales in a few coming months. I just convinced my neighbors about the Wii U will some did not since something is holding them back. My country used to love the Wii a lot back on 2006-2008. The debut of Wii Sports changed the market on the middle east. I think people of my country will be convinced of the WIii U if WIi Sports U came to the UAE. My country does not have enough fan base on Wii Fit U. Still can’t wait for e3 2014. Nintendo better make Wii Sports U and debut it sometime next year because my country loves Wii Sports. I hope we can see some teaser by Nintendo in a few coming months that way at December the sales will soar just like 2007.

          • Steven_Segal

Remember on the E3 2011 Trailer that showed gamepad compatibility with Wii Sports? I think they will eventually make a Wii Sports U since Wii Fit U is coming too.

          • Yousif Alromaithi

Oh yeah I saw it. But what is holding them back I don’t know for sure but I think I know why. Since Mr Iwata told the world the big games will not hit once the game completion is done. Other companies copies Nintendo and turn it into their success, Nintendo does not want to release Wii U Sports since Sony and Microsoft manged to steal Nintendo ideas at the first place. For example take PlayStation Battle, Hot Shots and Little Big Planet Kart. Nintendo is smart but the delays really hurt them. Next time Nintendo should not trust the third party developers and release Zelda, Wii Sports and 3D Mario on their next console much like the Wii at 2006. That way they will win and bury Sony with Microsoft Kinect to the ground.

          • You mean Kinect Sports was stolen from the idea of Wii Sports?? Say it isn’t true.

          • Yousif Alromaithi

Lol dude. I am not saying they took the entire idea but they took their ground punch Nintendo established on the market and made it toward their Success. Irony that Rare used to work for Nintendo and now doing Microsoft kinect. Funny thing bro ain’t it a small world.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        • Bob Charlie

Coins that get deposited to the basement!

    • Mr. Hobo

Nintendo stock down 78% since 2007…

      Sorry I had to.

      • BIG Franky

hahaha…. new to finance, Mr. Hobo? try typing almost any stock ticker into yahoo finance and graph from 2006 until current time and see if those results are much different, LOL…. a lot has happened since 2007!

    • Satoru Iwata

Ahh….I see someone has come across our prototype console, Famibucks. Please understand, that it prints you money so you can continue to buy our products. However, we are having slight setbacks with it in North America since the US Government and the Government of Canada don’t share our vision. We apologize and will try to work out of these setbacks so you can print your own money on our Famibucks console.

Thank you and continue supporting Nintendo and its products.

      • DragonSilths

Whats wrong with the Canadian Goverment and Nintendo? Nothing really.

    • Rukiafan Rukiachan

The future of Nintendo is definitely a bright one ahead. However,
this has been well planned and was thoroughly discussed at the beginning
of the Wii U tenure in the market. What this shows is Nintendo dedication to quality over quantity and substance over gimmicks. This is why Nintendo has been the leading brand in interactive gaming since a long time ago.

With enhanced first party support, affordable development budgets with
the Nintendo ecosystem Wii U is here to stay. As with Nintendo mammoth machine, you can look forward to four more years of a true next generation
experience that cannot be seen on no other platform.

Thank you for choosing Nintendo as your primary interactive device to enhance your living room experience.

  • Jack5221

Its going to sky rocket by the end of this year. Pokemon X and Y, plus all the Wii U games coming out. Im laughing at all the idiots who claim “Nintendo is dying” 😛

  • $41809923

  • Starfoxguy

    The future is bright.

    • Steven_Segal

      Very bright…

      • Satoru Iwata

Bright as Miyamoto-san’s pearly white smile.

        • Steven_Segal

          LOL, go back to work!

  • uPadWatcher

The sales in both Animal Crossing: New Leaf (United States and Canada) and Pikmin 3 (Japan) were incredible. I hope that Nintendo continues doing what they always do best… especially creating ads on TV (The Wonderful 101 is next on Nintendo’s list)!

  • Mochlum

Sorry, can’t hear you over Nintendo’s money being made because Animal Crossing and Pikmin 3. MONEYMONEYMONEY

  • Madmagican

Always nice to see a positive article
this is probably due to Pikmin 3 and massive 3DS sales

  • Ony

ah ha, yeah, fuck that, Nintendo winz.

  • Guest

Nintendo stock down 78% since its peak in 2007…

    Sorry I had to.

  • sharlo galmo

Because of all those great games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnjoovkX6ro

  • Arthur Jarret

You guys are still waiting for Dream team?

Here in europe, it got the horrible title ‘dream team bros.’, but it’s been out for… well… for long enough to beat it!

    • Mohuz

I live in europe too, yes the title is bad XD, but atleast we finally got something released before NA, eh?

      • Arthur Jarret

Well, those are getting more and more common. Xenoblade, Last story, Pandoras tower on wii – even the donkey kong games on gamecube… not to mention the awesome pikmin 3 this friday (they usually allow stores to give out the preorders a day early too, so tomorrow) as well as Luigi U’s retail release.

Finally, Nintendo is starting to understand that the european region is more important than the US – which was just founded by europeans who were not good enough to find work here. (just kidding guys… just kidding)

  • Ross Brocklesby

Quality not quantity is nintendos theory. Trolls better watch wiiu sales will storm the ps4 and Xbox one, the wii outsold em both last gen. Fancy graphics won’t win buyers but good games will, Nintendo been at this game longer than Sony and Microsoft

    • Michael Jurado

so true sony’s gaming industry only exists thanks to Nintendo and Microsoft is just after money i’m sticking with Nintendo for my video games ^__^

    • oontz

Most US retailers are already reporting double the PAID pre-orders of PS4 and XB1 systems compared to last generation. Also they are sold out of the initial shipments of hardware.

People think that they aren’t going to sell like mad. They’re wrong. Everything is pointing to huge sales for Sony and it’s next console.

      • Elem187

That doesn’t mean anything.. Nintendo sold out of the preorders for the Wii U as well.. 3 million people purchased up every Wii U that shipped… So its a meaningless metric.

        • oontz

No Nintendo didn’t sell out of all initial stock… are your retarded? On launch day and for weeks after, you could walk into most North American brick & mortar retailers and buy a wiiu right off the shelf. Why do you think shortly after launch individual companies started slashing the prices and taking a loss on their own? They did that to get rid of all the stock that hadn’t sold yet.

  • Linskarmo

I hope it keeps going up!

  • Leo

As soon as China enters the game Nintendo’s stock will skyrocket out of the roof.
