A brand new trademark filing has surfaced from Nintendo, with the name S.T.E.A.M: Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menance. There’s no other information about this trademark aside from the name, but it could be an entirely new IP for the company. The trademark was filed in the US on April 2, so perhaps we could see more information about the title in the upcoming Nintendo Direct? It’s interesting that the chosen acronym for this game, is STEAM, which also a gaming service for the PC by Valve Software. There’s absolutely no correlation between the two, which is likely why Nintendo wanted to make sure the trademark was filed as an acronym with full title, instead of just focusing on the word Steam. Hopefully Valve won’t have any problem with this, as gaming companies have known to be litigious over similar words being used in game titles. For example, Minecraft creator Notch settled out of court for the use of the word Scrolls in his card game, which Bethesda contested and said was too similar to its roleplaying series The Elder Scrolls. What are your thoughts on this information? If you want to read over the official trademark filing, you can find it here. local_offer Nintendo s.t.e.a.m wii u stars Further Reading F-Zero X gets updated on Wii U to fix control New Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer and game Super Mario Maker Wii U vs 3DS comparison (vi Get Ocarina of Time on 3DS for only $14 New teaser site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild released How to track NES Classic Mini stock in time for Christmas Miguel Angel Barrueta Hernánde wow! Mercurio2054 Some people are complaining about the name… i don’t care the name! Mayoo Don’t expect Nintendo to know what Steam is when they are still doing console-bound downloads and purchases. This being said, what S.T.E.A.M. seems to point to is in my interest. Lil J Moore I sense domination coming soon. A good IP with some actual marketing can boost the sales of the WiiU. jackie Wii u has a long ways to go for domination. There getting bent over by ps4 right now Lil J Moore Bent over? I don’t think so BIG Franky well it is….sadly. whether you want to admit it or not, the PS4 is where it is at right now, then the XB1, then PS3 & XB360… and then after all of that, the Wii U is a distant afterthought. now that doesn’t mean the Wii U sucks… or isn’t an awesome system… I love mine…. but lets be real here, shall we? just go into any gaming store to see the real hierarchy of things…. you get the next gen stuff up front…. then giant walls of PS3 & XB360 stuff… and then the Wii U section way in a back corner. it is set-up this way for a reason… (and no, not solely because of payment received for better shelf placement… sure, that stuff exists with display placement to a degree, but the store if going to give the most shelf space to what is selling best. Mercurio2054 nextgen is current gen. BIG Franky well yes, sure… but just like last gen, we use that connotation until PS3/XB360 totally die off. we all know what that means. cmon now… Mercurio2054 i get it, really. Dark-Link73 So does that mean you referred the PS3, 360, and Wii as “next-gen” until last year because, based on your reasoning, you must’ve had. After all the PS2 didn’t ” totally die off” until January 2013. BIG Franky no… not at all… that’s not what I said either…. but remember, PS2 outsold PS3 for more than 2 years… there were games released for it. PS3 was “next gen” relative to the previous gen until it became the standard console (again relative to PS2).. cmon man… you know what that means when people say it, stop being a douchenozzle clinging to technicalities. yes, we know that PS4/XB1/WiiU are all “current gen” but as is always the case during the transition, the terms kind of intertwine. when people call that shit out they come across as insecure gamesnobs. Wren Justin Umlauf Orrr do they put the essentials in the back of the store to make us walk through the whole thing. Like how they put the milk in the back at grocery stores. Nah jk, your definitely right jackie Sales wise yes they are Dark-Link73 Not in the land of the Rising Sun. 😉 Now if the trend would expand to other territories. 🙂 jackie Well the land of the rising sun mainly plays handhelds anyway. Consoles in general are doing bad there Dark-Link73 So you’re saying Japan sales don’t count? jackie They do count but they only are a small percentage. For the whole world wii u is getting butt raped swic11 definitely bent over. Its been out since what november? and it already has as many consoles in homes as the wii u…. if thats not the definition of bent over, idk what is…. WiiUisgaming I hope this is Miyamoto’s new IP, it sounds life a FPS and it was rumored the game will be a FPS Lil J Moore Oh god no jackie Yesssss hopefully this means nintendo is growing some balls and are getting more extreme games atl hawks So bayonetta and x aren’t enough for you? Lil J Moore No More Heroes, Mad World, Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness. I would say Red Steel but I think that was rated T BIG Franky WTF do these 5 or 10 year old games have to do with anything? LOL… Laer_HeiSeiRyuu You can play them on a WIiU? jackie Those games dont sale no more. Were talkin new gen atl hawks Uh bayonetta 2 and x are coming this year wii u is awsome BY THAT LOGIC YOU MEAN WII 3 AND PS5 AND MICROSOFTSOLDTHEIRMONEYMAKINGBRANDBOX Dark-Link73 They have to do plenty. Nintendo has released over the years “mature” games. Just because they don’t do it every other game like 360 or Sony, it doesn’t mean they don’t do it at all. matthew garcia Of course they had mature games over the years but they still have the kid stereotype. It’s not helping there sales right now Dark-Link73 Agree. I think it’s ok for them to aim to be a family company just like they did with the Wii. I found promotional videos for the N64, GCN, and Wii; and their advertising campaign used to revolve around the early teen demographic on N64, then they expanded to children and late teens on GCN, and ultimately to the entire family on Wii but bringing emphasis on young adults. Now on Wii U, for whatever strange reason, they’ve been focusing their advertising campaign on young children. Whomever is the head of their marketing department in NA, is ruining the Wii U. Daniel Gonzalez Nintendo didn’t release them. Lol. Third parties did. That and Nintendo has only published a few, but never has developed one from their own in house studios. Dark-Link73 Dang I’m on roll today! That’s what happens sometimes when trying to post from work, he he. Anyway, I meant to say rated M games released on Nintendo consoles, not Nintendo releasing them. As far as I know, Nintendo has only publish two rated M games. N64 and GCN. I don’t think they published any on Wii. jackie No cuz just those 2 games dont appeal to everyone still gotta have more variety of extreme type games. Just cuz someone likes bayonetta doeant mean there gonna like x or steam. Always good to have a variety to choose from. So no x and bayonetta are not nearly enough Daniel Gonzalez I don’t think a few games are going to cut it in a 5 year cycle. Bayonetta is about the only game you mentioned that looks remotely mature graphic wise. Marcus Lager Yeah, because we all know how “extreme” Call of duty, etc is… *Sigh* jackie I dont like call of duty. Extreme type games can be anything thats more mature type action game. Video games are entertainment just like movies. Im sure u like rated r movies Marcus Lager I agree. Nintendo needs more mature games, but that doesen’t necessarily mean violent games like FPS. jackie I never said it had to be fps. Dark-Link73 So are you one of those that l feel that a game to be “mature”, it has to have the capital M slapped on the box? jackie The mature im talkin about is not for little kids eyes. Cmoooon u people im a woman and all u kids need to grow a pair. I like mario also but I need some rated r shit also Dark-Link73 And you need just to “grow up”, period. You don’t want “mature” games. You want graphic games. There’s plenty of graphic content games on Wii U, Wii, and other consoles. Just because Nintendo wants to keep their IP’s family friendly doesn’t mean they don’t have the balls to make one. Nintendo has more balls to standing for what they believe instead of falling for the trend of the rest of the industry and come out with gory-bloody shit in order to make a quick buck. You want bloody shit, that’s what third-party programmers are for. Do you want high quality family friendly and mature games? That’s what Nintendo is for. jackie Your a pansie. Half life is a graphic game and is one of the best games ever Dark-Link73 “Your a pansie.” And you need to learn proper grammar and spelling. It’s “you’re” not “your”, and it’s “pansy” not “pansie”. If you’re going to insult somebody do it right, lmao! (btw, thank you for making my point that you’re immature and you need to grow up). As for Half Life, it is one of the best games ever not because of the blood and gore, but because of the compelling story line AND gameplay experience. Btw, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is arguably THE best game of all time and but because of gore our graphic content, but because, again, competing story line, MATURITY, and gameplay experience. matthew garcia Oh god your one of the types who corrects grammar when u know what the person is talkin about. She has a point graphic games allow for a different type of experience. Nintendo games are great but I can’t play the types of games that where they talk they make wierd noises that’s kinda immature also in its own right. Most people in there 30s would think like Damn this is what I played as a kid but have no interest in in anymore. That crowd moved on to more mature games. Wii u sales show that most gamers are going away from nintendo 1st party and are Goin to ps4. I know u like the games that u like but the gaming community is finding mario and friends as something they don’t wanna be seen playing Dark-Link73 Of course I correct grammar when I know what the other person is talking about, otherwise how would I know the other is using incorrect grammar or spelling if I didn’t know what the person is talking about?? Duh! Btw, I only tend to correct other people’s grammar when they think they’re smart and clever enough to open their statements with a personal attack and insult, without any basis, just because they can’t postulate a valid argument to validate their point of view. I love a good debate, and if the other person expresses a valid point, then I’ll admit it. But if the other person is so immature that they feel the need to insult me just to feel better about themselves, then that person do it right the first time around, otherwise they’ll make a fool out of him/herself. Now, I do agree that graphic games allow for a different experience, however, that was not her point overall. Her main point is that she has a need for gory and bloody games, and because Nintendo doesn’t make them, they don’t have balls. She’s failing to see that just because Nintendo itself is not into making bloody and gory games, it doesn’t mean they’re are against then. They is an extensive library of rated M games on Nintendo consoles throughout the years. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite M games of all time is Conker’s Bad Fur Day. That game is borderline AO. She’s been given many options of M rated games on Nintendo consoles released over the years, but she keeps on renouncing them as not being “extreme enough” or simply “not enough for her”. Jackie doesn’t want “mature”, bloody, or gory, games on Nintendo consoles; she want Nintendo itself to make “mature”, bloody, and gory games. That’s a whole different issue. matthew garcia Yeah she was wrong to insult u but she does have a point. You don’t have to get butt hurt about it though it’s the Internet and that’s just how it is. Everybody insults everybody at some point. Dark-Link73 Oh don’t worry. I don’t get “butt hurt” with people I don’t know. But on the other hand, just because insulting people on the internet is ” just how it is” (which doesn’t make it right in the first place), it doesn’t mean I’m going to let people insult me without hearing me back. Btw, I didn’t call her names, I just pointed out the obvious. 😉 Daniel Gonzalez I’m pretty sure not all third parties program “bloody shit.” I won’t go into quality of games, because that’s totally subjective, just as mature is. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if Nintendo made a graphic or what the norm is in the industry, “mature.” I see no harm in Nintendo dabbling in something out of their comfort zone. Dark-Link73 Oh I didn’t mean that the bloody games are “shit”, I was quoting her for wanting “rated r shit”, but I forgot to write the entire phrase and put the quotes….. I just fixed it. I don’t have a problem with Nintendo making an occasional rated M game, but the way her and Matthew were making it sound is that they wanted Nintendo to change from making “kiddie games” as suppose to simply diversify and continue crating Mario, Zelda, Kirby, etc. while trying a rated M IP. The main problem is that the two games they publish (Conker and Eternal Darkness) even though they were great games, they bombed in sales. So I doubt Nintendo will make rated M game anytime soon. Judging by the title trade marked, it sounds more like a crazy W101 style game than a rated M game. Unless!….. it’s like Conker’s Bad Fur Day. That would be do much fun. Wishful thinking. asdfg People here are way too extremist. There are the ones who think a game is only good if it has graphic content, and the ones who think all M rated games suck. Mature games can be great if done right. I’d love to see a mature game with a Nintendo twist. So yeah I agree with you thecoolmana777 Why does it have to be M?????? Shane Michaels EXTREEEEEE3ME. Dark-Link73 Um, please define “extreme games”. Because I’d like to know your operational definition (along with a couple of examples) of “extreme games” before I give you my rebuttal. jackie Games that have mature storylines fast paced action that lights up the screen or slow type action that emmerses u in. Maybe action rpgs like diablo or baulders gate. Theres many types of mature extreme David Byrad Mature storylines with fast paced action… Sounds like Wonderful 101 and Metroid! steveb944 Metroid I’ll agree, but W101? Haha. If that isn’t a kids title then Mario needs to be rated T due to kidnappings. As much fun and difficult as W101 can be, it’s not a ‘Mature’ story line. We just need a new Metroid asap. David Byrad Dude, it may be a bit childish but as the game progresses nearer to the end it gets really heavy. The only reason it doesn’t feel heavy is because of a combination between both the humor and the art style making it feel more epic than heavy. steveb944 Hmm now that you told me that I’ll have to pick it back up again. It hasn’t interested me much thus far so i’ve played it sparingly. Can’t wait to see the end now! Thanks! David Byrad Trust me, you will love the game! When I finally beat the final boss, it literally felt like the single greatest achievement of my gaming life. Reason? Just how awesome it was built up and executed. Felt like a 4 part season finale where every single character returns for a final fight from that saturday morning show you always watch. Thomas Vienna I hope it’s not JUST a FPS. I hope he has some exciting mechanic involved, because I really don’t want to play ANOTHER alien shooting game. it sounds so generic. jackie Im sure people get tired of mario and friends also. I welcome some change steveb944 I agree with you on that. I haven’t picked up any Mario title for my Wii U since release Dark-Link73 Six million people have picked up Mario titles (two of them) for their Wii U since release. matthew garcia I believe he’s talking about wii u by itself. Wii u is selling like crap here in America and europe. Even japan it’s bad. Selling 8 or 10000 consoles a week will not cut it. Everyone is talkin ps4 right now. A majority of people think wii u is just add on to the original wii and it’s been out a year and a half. That’s not good Dark-Link73 Even a lot of people don’t want to see it, there is a sense of confusion about the Wii U. Compared to the Wii, the situation is bad. Compared to Nintendo’s console norm, it’s not that bad. People tend to forget that the Wii was an anomaly to Nintendo; just like the PS2 was for Sony two generations ago. I don’t believe the Wii U will be close to match the Wii’s success, but I doubt it’ll be a total failure that will cause Nintendo to leave the hardware market, to focus on M rated games, or make games for mobile. steveb944 And your point is? Just because 6 million copies are sold doesn’t mean I have to find interest in a title that to me seems rehashed over and over again. And I think a few of those were sold as bundles. There hasn’t been a major leap in gameplay for Mario in quite some time. I’ll wait for a Nintendo Selects release to jump into it. For now I’ll stick to other great first party titles and the remaining third party support. Dark-Link73 “Just because 6 million copies are sold doesn’t mean I have to find interest in a title…” Exactly! I’m glad you see it that way. Let’s face it, just because you haven’t bought a Mario game since the launch of the Wii U, it doesn’t mean Nintendo needs to change its games that have appealed at least 4 million gamers and counting (thank you for making my point). Also, if you’re going to critic Mario for not having a “major leap in gameplay” for quite some time, then let’s be fair and take a stab at the entire industry in general. CoD, Halo, Assassin’s Creed, Mario Kart, Zelda, Need for Speed, Starcraft, and many more game series haven’t really had any major leaps in gameplay. The only “major” leaps in console gaming gameplay have been the joystick (Atari), the D-pad (Nintendo), the analog stick/true 3D environments (Nintendo), online entertainment (Nintendo), online multiplayer (Dreamcast), and motion controls (Nintendo). A case can be made for shoulder and trigger buttons (Nintendo), dual joystick (Sony), disk media storage (Sega), 4p local multi (Nintendo), HD graphics (Sony/M$), and many other evolutions of console gameplay. But that’s all those were: evolutions of revolutionary leaps. So if you really think about it. Just because a game is fun to play, is rated M, has blood, or has HD graphics (among other things); it doesn’t make such game revolutionary. But certainly makes it great. steveb944 I think you still missed my point. I only agreed with her on being tired of Mario. When I make a point of gameplay I’m not talking about peripherals used or the tech that is available. I’m referring to the actual play style. The most recent innovation we’ve had is Mario 64 as that brought 3D environments to a 2D world, thereafter the Wii built upon previous principles in the IP. The Mario Wii U titles have only slightly upped the ante. The industry as a whole has gotten pretty stagnant but it’s the small changes that we have to look forward to. All the FPS and racing titles you mentioned can’t change much from their basic formulas, you just add some HD, new weapons/cars, maps/tracks. Assassin’s Creed had something with the introduction of ships in AC3, built on that element with 4, and other consoles will see what happens next if anything. I never got into StarCraft. I’m keeping an eye on VR and PS4 as the next hardware step. I agree with you that none of those things make a game revolutionary. It has to have something ground breaking in order for it to be innovative. That’s why I’m looking towards Kick starter and indies to fill that gap of innovation. (Hyrule Warriors and future Fire Emblem Wii U titles are good too) Dark-Link73 Yeah, as much as I love motion controls when done right (yes, I love motion controls lol) and other recent leaps in gaming, nothing has caused the same impression and amazement as seen Mario rum in 3D outside Peach’s castle. I still remember that moment as if it was yesterday. At 40 years old, I am proud to say that I belong to that generation of gamers who’s seen console gaming evolve from one simple pixel bouncing back and forth on the screen, to vast open world games we have today. 🙂 Thomas Vienna I’d like change, too, as long as it is positive change that aims to move forward. I’m just really hoping that it is, so I hope I’m just overreacting about this name sounding generic. WiiUisgaming You are right, but knowing Miyamoto’s past titles, I know he can change the way to play a FPS and still be an original and great game. jackie Thats what a metroid game is. A 1st person alien shooter. I looove metroid URFTBOUND4LIFE . The PRIME series are First Person Adventure games. Not quite the same as a FPS. Laer_HeiSeiRyuu Metroid is a platformer jackie Lol theres definitely some shooting goin on. I consider skyrim 1st person adventure Dark-Link73 Funny that you mention that because, One of the weapons in Skyrim is a bow and arrow and that doesn’t make it a FPS. In Metroid you simply don’t go from point A to point B shooting your way around mindlessly. You have to explore a semi-open world and collect items in order to progress in the story. There’s plenty of exploration in Prime. jackie I never said there wasnt any exploration in metroid of course there is. Not all 1st person shooters are mindless. U say that cuz u dont wanna affiliate yourself outside of the nintendo crowd. I have a wii u ps4 xbox 360 and pc that I game on. Thank god I dont just play nintendo games and think there above all. Right now im playing left 4 dead on 360 and im having a blast Dark-Link73 How quickly are you to generalize. Even though Nintendo consoles have been my primary gaming choice, probably since before you were born, I also have and enjoy 360 gaming, PC, and even had a Dreamcast with 30 games. Again, just because some games aren’t gory and bloody, it doesn’t mean they’re can’t be mature or “extreme” jackie Lol im 29 years old and I never said games had to be gory to be extreme. Uncharted has no gore and is a very extreme game that keeps u on edge. Im pretty sure if nintendo lost the kid stereotype it would sell more consoles. Nintendo is a company that is not just in to makin games but also makin money and wii u sales suck. I want wii u to be successful and m rated games will help with sales. Just cuz they make them doesnt mean u have to play them. U can stick to your mario and friends lol but atleast have the m rated option to appeal to a larger market and have more console sales Dark-Link73 Well I’m 40 so I’ve been playing Nintendo games (and games in general) since before you were born HAH! 😛 But seriously now, Nintendo is an entertainment company that, just like everybody else, needs of money to survive. That been said, Nintendo has come out with rated M games of their own (Eternal Darkness for GCN and Conker’s Bad Fur Day for N64 as far as I know) but unfortunately, neither one of those sold well (.44m and .77 mullion units total respectively) in their lifetime. When you have a Mario game that sales nearly 2 million copies in just four months, vs. a rated M game that sales barely half of a million copies during its lifetime, where are you going to put most of your efforts? To please 500,000 gamers per M rated title? Or to please 4 million + gamers (NSMBU has sold almost 4m copies in just one year) per title? Just like third party programmers that don’t want to invest on Wii U because their games don’t sale, Nintendo is not going to invest on their own rated M games that don’t sale on their console. Btw, I love rated M games as much as the next person. But I love a good story even more. matthew garcia Gta 5 sold 4 million on ps3 alone on its 1st day alone. Doesn’t take months with certain games. Halo sales 7 mil on day 1 alone for 360. Mario sales are at a all time low right now Dark-Link73 First of all, GTA is a multiplatform game so it’s not a real comparison. As for Halo (which btw, if you’re referring to 4, it sold 3.1 million units on launch day, not 7m), an argument can be made over a couple of variables you’re not considering: genre and install base. Let’s start with GTA, the game released on two consoles with a combined install base of around 160 million consoles. If you make the math, about 2% of the PS3/360 demographic population bought GTA 5. For Halo 4, it sold 3.1 units worldwide a year ago, so let’s say the 360 install base was only 70 million. That’s only about .4% of the 360 population that bought Halo 4. If you look at SM3DW, week one sales (i couldn’t find day one) were of 345,000 which is about 5% of the Wii U population. After 3 months, about 33% of the Wii U population owns 3D World. I doubt Halo 4 has sold 26 minion copies by comparison, or GTA 5 50 million copies. Raw numbers are amazing, don’t get me wrong. I honestly don’t think Mario would ever sale 3 million copies on day one. But in order to make an educated and fair comparison, you need to look at more than just the raw data. thedeciderU true. good points. thedeciderU due to low install base, i think. URFTBOUND4LIFE . Well unlike 3rd party titles, Nintendo doesn’t rely on day one sales. Their games sell well over time. People will continue to buy 3D World because it is a quality tittle. Those who are planning on getting a Wii U will more than likely pick up the game. There is a lot of hype behind Mario Kart and Smash so those people will buy a Wii U for those games and will likely buy the earlier titles too. matthew garcia Oh and besides metroid and zelda most nintendo games don’t have good stories unless u consider saving the princess and bananas a good story lol Dark-Link73 Touche, personally I’ve never thought of Mario to have a story whatsoever. What’s wrong with bananas? They make delicious desserts! LoL. Dark-Link73 Some people, specially avid Metroid fans that I know, don’t see the Prime series as a FPS, but more as a First Person Adventure. Prime is only similar to FPS games like CoD because of the first person perspective But in reality, is much more than just shooting around in first person. I personally don’t really care to which genre Prime belongs. I think it’s s great game series. I guess Metroid avid fans feel that categorizing their beloved Metroid in the same class as CoD, diminishes the value of the Metroid Prime Series. Magnus Eriksson Hmmm… could be. But isnt it more likely that this is something more in the direction of going third party? Sure sounds like that to me 🙂 Decker Shado Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace…. Okay, so this could go anywhere from EDF (yay!) to ACM. (….yay?) Ducked Sounds like some kind of team to eliminate hackers lol Lusunup most likely Nintendo would get sued for even mentioning s.t.e.a.m it’s all about power (money wise) and who has it obviously Nintendo Ony Half-Life 3 confirmed. jjbredesen And its Wii U exclusive! http://atomix.vg/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/valve-1024×655.png Guest Fall 2013 hehe Dáibhí wotshissurname And yet it says it was due Fall 2013 Assassinated23 Fall 2013 Valve Time. TheHaydenator Frosbite’s Twitter was right! Entropyguy That would be amazing simply to see everyone’s heads explode simultaneously. URFTBOUND4LIFE . God,yes! Please let this be Miyamoto’s new IP DK_Hadouken Or Retro Studios new game. URFTBOUND4LIFE . Ether or,I’d be as happy as a kid in a ,fireworks, candy and puppy-dog store! jjbredesen Holy shit, does this mean Miyamoto’s new IP could be a shooter? That would be awesome it would show that Nintendo can make mature games, but perhaps it has something to do with Metroid or the Wonderful 101? darkcreap The Alien thing sounds very Wonderful 101. I don’t think it will be related, though. I think that The Wonderful 101 should have their own series, but redrawing a lot of things. That guy who hates Spike It could be, but judging by the name “Strike TEAM”. It might be an RTS. Something the Wii U can do well. Javy G The director of W101 said he might do a spin-off, hack-n-slash game of Wonder-Blue with realistic graphics. Why realistic graphics? Because he wants mood of the game to be serious. Dark-Link73 But he already has bayoneta (it at least platinum games does). No need for a bayoneta clone. Javy G True but it could be a while before this game is done. Who even knows if they even started or are going to produce it. At least Bayonetta will be released this year and can decide for next year to release this spin-off. I know one thing, either game better not release around with Hyrule Warriors. Competing with that game might outshine its publicity. Kaleb I wouldn’t mind a Wonder Series or prequels to how these heroes came to be….. that would be awesome Sdudyoy http://kotaku.com/5918095/the-creator-of-mario-and-zelda-wants-to-make-a-first-person-shooter I don’t know if this means anything though, It’s pretty old. Dark-Link73 But…but…but we already have a “Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace.” It’s a one woman team and her name is Samus Aran. She even does FPS games too! 🙂 URFTBOUND4LIFE . How can Samus be a team all by herself? That makes no sense. ….but what if this game that featured Samus Aran as one of the teammates? You have no idea how fucking awesome that would be Dark-Link73 Metroid Other M. Shane Michaels She is a team of one. shadus How about a Third person action game/ rts that brings Samus, Mega man, Sonic, Link, Starfox and Mario together against aliens? Now that’s what I call a strike force:D URFTBOUND4LIFE . No. I want this not to be a Smash clone. Also Nintendo needs this to be a game with serious characters, not cartoony ones.. That’s why I choose Samus only because she’s a better fit for this. Guesty Pooh! I have the real abbreviation for S.T.E.A.M and it stands for: Screw The Electronic Arts Merger! or S.T.E.A.M! Dark-Link73 Lol, good one! 🙂 shadus I would change merger to management, but otherwise perfect. classicgamer20 Sounds like Metroid!!!!!! but lets not get our hopes up people darkcreap Mmmm. This sounds good. New IP incoming? Magnus Eriksson Wonder if this might be a sign that Nintendo is going third party? After all it would make sense. This generation they have proven that they are most interested in the casual market, and since the casual market are playing on pads and phones its just reasonable that Nintendo will head that direction. I think it would be a wise decision, no one is really interested in Nintendo hardware anymore, and with the VR revoulution around the corner there is probably not anything more to do. The good thing is that Nintendo are experienced in making games, and could probably make games just as good as Angry Bird, Flappy Bird and the like, maybe even slightly better. I think it will be great to see Mario on my phone. STEAM sounds pretty much in that direction I think. jjbredesen Yeah they are going 3rd party no question, i think we will see Mario and Zelda crossovers with games such as Flappy bird and Nintendo will join Zynga and Facebook to take over the software world with games such as Hyruleville and Flappy Bros. Kevin Sepulveda lmfao!!!!!! Magnus Eriksson That would be in Nintendos best interest. Im very happy to see that they have taken into reason now. I think they will do decent here. And if they fail they could always continue on the plans building a fitness studio in the blue ocean. Dark-Link73 This place needs a “down-vote” button. Magnus Eriksson Why? Dont you like fitness? Thats what Nintendo is all about. Fitness and old people playing Wii Sports. NotCalledSteve And fun. Don’t forget the fun. Dark-Link73 Where’s the down-vote button????? I can’t find it!!! Please somebody make him stop!!!!!! jjbredesen http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lyms769Xeb1qlolyqo1_500.jpg 00EpicGamer00 Oh no. Not a brain teasing image! SolarGalaxa It has one. Dark-Link73 It only works to down-vote your own vote. Not others. Trust me, I’ve tried, lol. Daniel Gonzalez Actually, it does still work. If you view the source code from each post, it shows the number of down votes. It just isn’t visible on the page. Dark-Link73 Yeah I sort of figured that the moment I pressed it and the arrow turned red. 😉 Daniel Gonzalez They did, but Disqus realized that many were abusing it as well as hackers, so I supported it being removed. Either way, it’s easier to just go along with a gag, than express distaste. You only make it harder on yourself, while a good chunk of people are either used to it, or have a sense of humor. jjbredesen Yup no question that this is the best option and then Facebook can release a console that Nintendo can develop for filled with micro transactions; Pay $0.99. per flap etc. And then we will get Ninyngadobooklines a cruiseship line with VR so that you think you are on a ship but really your not and the best part is that it will be full of ads! Magnus Eriksson Nintendo should consider the possibilty to make facebook games. Zelda on facebook would be great. Anyway I dont think micro transactions are very good. I would rather see it become heavily filled with in game commercials and pop ups questing for online surveys. That way they could make some extra bucks too. jjbredesen True, i also think Mario Kart 8 and Smash should be canceled and moved to Facebook, flash graphics would make the games look much better and lets not forget that you can send requests and stuff like in Farmville. NotCalledSteve don’t be silly, myspace is the way forward. NotCalledSteve Yeah, and the new zelda will be confirmed to be PS4 exclusive at E3 2014. jjbredesen No, it will be released on Facebook, Zynga and EA’s new console the: Microtransactor. Dark-Link73 I was about to answer back to your hasty generalizations until I realized it is you Mr. Eriksson. Carlos Coronado Why will they go third party the 3ds is selling almost as well as the ps4. matthew garcia It’s a little different when a 3ds cost 149 and a ps4 399 and the ps4 is still out selling it Carlos Coronado Yet with the amazing sales of the ps4 sony still report a 1.1 billion dollar lose for this year and after their pc division goes on sale they are going to fire 500 people not to mention that hey already fire 50 to 60 developers from Santa Monica Studios. Also the Ps Vita Is been dead in the water for like 2 years so you logic of the Wii U not selling can is the reason why Nintendo should go third party to you then sony should just drop the vita and make the games for the 3ds. Shane Michaels All of these sissy little babies clearly don’t remember that Nintendo was a third party to Atari, true geniuses of the craft . This would be a return to their form. Carlos Coronado And that is why Nintendo wants to still making home consoles since they make more money that way. Carlos Coronado You mean like sony did to help with the sales of playstation battle royal and pretty much didn’t really help at all. Logan Wayman New franchise? Main character hopefully comes to SSB4. wii u is awsome maybe this will be a character in ssb4 in tomorows direct (and maybe reveal the game) but THE CHARACTER WILL HINT AT THE NEXT GAAAAAAAAAAAME sorry for shouting BELIEVE THE GODAMN HYPE! TimothyTShatzer The good thing is that Nintendo are experienced in making games, and could probably make games just as good as Angry Bird, Flappy Bird and the like, maybe even slightly better. I think it will be great to see Mario on my phone. STEAM sounds pretty much in that direction I think. http://qr.net/stx3 Tim van Broekhoven Yes! YES!!! LET IT FUCKING BE MIYAMOTO’S NEW IP I NEED SOME NEW GAMES, I MEAN WE ALL DO. AAAAARRRGGGGG I’M GETTING CRAZY! AND I CAN’T WAIT FOR MARIO KART AAAAAHHHHH I FEEL TERRIBLE AND SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY BUT tomato SP-937-215 “tomato” I couldn’t have said it better myself. Donaald Chances are it’s Miyamoto’s FPS and probably his last game. uPadWatcher It’s not officially Miyamoto’s “last game” until it’s confirmed by the man himself. Nice try, Donnie. Donaald Nice try to what? 00EpicGamer00 Actually, there’s a possibility that this could be Miyamoto’s last original game. You do know that Miyamoto’s pretty old, right? He’s like, in his 60’s. He has to retire at some point. lonewolf Its star fox 😀 FutureFox You’re probably right. SP-937-215 Probably a 2.5D platformer, with special guest: Cranky Kong. uPadWatcher Codename: STEAM… a rated T (or M) game in the making from the Big N? SOLD! MujuraNoKamen Miyamoto’s new IP? He said he wanted to do a shooter and this sounds like a shooter. Interesting. Gordon Blakey If they want to keep competing then they need to take extreme measures and come up with exclusive games that people want to play in the masses like XBox did with Halo and Titan Fall. mojack411 And don’t forget Candy Crush Saga creator suing The Banner Saga creators for using the word “Saga”. Man, this world some times. J_Joestar The name + Acronym kind of sounds like it will be more on the cartoony W101 style alien fighting game rather than a more straight-laced Metroid style. paulthevgking star fox confirmed darkcreap Hi. I hope people here will forgive the off-topic, but I just wanted to say that I have kickstarted Earthlock: Festival of Magic. It is coming to WiiU along other platforms and there are only 4 days more to go. Just in case you might like the game and would want to pledge, I put here the link for the kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/171497873/earthlock-festival-of-magic It seems that they are doing OK, but I thought they might need a little help to reach the goal. If anyone here has a WiiU (or any of the other platforms targeted by the game), and thinks it deserves to have a little help, there you can show it. I pledged 25$ myself after discovering the game here at wiiudaily.com some days ago. It is the first kickstarter project I pledge to and also the first turn-based RPG that has caught my attention. I am “discovering” RPGs after playing Xenoblade Chronicles and this game really caught my attention. There is even an alpha for several platforms (for Windows, Linux and Mac). I downloaded it and was convinced by the feeling of it. Thanks for reading and sorry again for the off-topic. Roman Not a good move. You could easily come up with a different Alien killing team acronym. The confusion between the two names will hurt Nintendo more than Valve (as Steam has been around for a lot longer and used by a lot more people). uPadWatcher Nice try, Romeo. Rodger_Ramjet Sounds like a shooter to me. I think for all those BF and CoD gamers out there, if Ninty produced a new IP to rival those not to mention destroy them by taking the best elements, with unrivalled Nintendo graphical ability and great multiplayer … That would be something to behold. Rodger_Ramjet When was half life 3 confirmed? I thought it was an electronic arse title? Unless someone like straight right are going to produce it? Krzysztof Sounds like a new Metroid to me. Rinslowe Sounds like…. I want to know more…. Leo an alien game? It better be metroid or star fox, because the alien theme is far saturated by the PS360 army… KH This surely is Retro’s New project, they have been hiring designers that specialize in grotesque monsters and alien design, since around E3 last year. The game probably entered development as soon as DKC:TF was done, which probably was around October or September, seeing how the game was suppose to come out in December, plus seeing how they are capable already of being a two dev team studio, some early footage or atleast some interesting concept art could be ready for this E3. Could be Miyamoto’s New Ip, though I think that will more probably be one of the NFC games, Nintendo spoked about, but sometime ago the chances of Retro soon working with Miyamoto were mentioned, so Miyamoto could also be working on that STEAM game as Director, and with what seems to be a FPS, be able to fulfill his dream of doing a FPS, and so bring the big finale to his videogame developing career. Fierce-Deity Link i doubt the game will be “mature” but it would be interesting if it was some brutal game with dismemberment.. not saying it would be good cause of this, but ppl would stop complaining about the lack of “mature” games Konnor Cook Could be a new Metroid spin-off. Cyntheta Luis A New IP!! Hooray! Tonkka So basically its going to be a game where Mario joins the minutemen and hunts down every illegal mexican in the mushroom kingdom?
