Today Nintendo published its Q3 financial results for the 2013-14 fiscal year. Not surprisingly, the Kyoto company posted a profit of 10,195 million yen ($99 million), though that profit is a 30% decrease from the year previous. Despite remaining in the black for the year during this quarter, the company is predicting significantly decreased sales due to seasonal factors. With the holidays over, the Wii U has much less of a chance to meet its expected sales goals. According to the report, Wii U hardware sales for this nine month period between April 2013 to December 2013 only equaled 2.41 million units. That puts the Wii U as having sold 5.86 million units during its entire lifetime. That’s a little more than half of the originally predicted forecast of 9 million for the year, though software sales were up, sitting at 15.96 million units during the financial year so far. CEObrainz So after everything they still managed to pull a profit, no doubt due to 3DS sales? darkcreap But only for Q3. For the fiscal year they have forecasted losses. CEObrainz Oh, I see. Skipped over the “Q3” part. Rinslowe Forecast losses. That also changes when the sales forecasts do as well. Thanks to 3DS in large part, they’re operating in the black… And that’s why net operating profit is the important aspect in that report overall – and the disparity between that and their consolidated losses . Wouldn’t you agree? Rinslowe That’s Nintendo And still us gamers got a few gems to play like Pikmin 3, WWHD, SM3DW, W101 etc… They go under fire by the whole world, give gamers some really nice games on Wii U and turn a profit “overall”, when it seems everybody else is calling their financials and future to question. Gotta love the haters logic for being so meh… Yes Wii U hasn’t earned it’s own investment back, but what product or service really does in the first year on the market. That’s called golden. And quite rare. Thanks to their other systems overall Nintendo operates in the black. Be interesting to see how the other two companies are doing as far as their gaming divisions go anyway… It’s a pet peeve of mine when people look at the previous years profit and compare the current fiscal year and call that a loss. It’s not. adamm “That puts the Wii U as having sold 5.86 million units during its entire lifetime. That’s less than half of the originally predicted forecast of 9 million for the year,” Either this is phrased very oddly or the math is off (I know Wii U’s lifetime is a little more than a year, but this doesn’t mention the total year sales) Ashley King I fixed my wording. darkcreap Strange… I thought it was 9 million sales for the current fiscal year, not 9 million install base. That would mean this year they have sold not even a third of what they forecasted. I think this year they expect to sell 2.8 million WiiUs. Rukiafan Rukiachan Yep this salles is not bad. Wii U sales are picking up, and as i have said 1 million times, once MK 8 is out there will be no bad news for a long time 🙂 http://a.disquscdn.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/802/3122/original.jpg Mario What part of “Never ending cycle” you people don’t understand!? GregoryTheRainMaker Well the Wii U did have a 9 month game drought…..Nintendo you went full retard…NEVER go full retard again. bizzy gie Sales will go up when MK8 and SSB drop. WarioForever Not smash, because it is coming for 3DS too. bizzy gie But will be much better on Wii U. DragonSilths Other then being in HD it wont be any better. The 3DS version holds back the Wii U version. We already know this. bizzy gie The Wii U version will probably have more modes, characters, trophies, and as you mentioned, high definition. You’re not paying $20 more for nothing. DragonSilths Sakurai ALREADY SAID THEY WILL BOTH BE THE SAME EXCPET FOR TROPHIES AND STAGES. The 3DS version is the main version and holds the Wii U one back. DragonSilths That’s what we keep saying. Wait for this and wait for that. If those games come out but Nintendo still doesn’t advertise them it wont do much. I saw a commercial on TV that was advertising Wii U, it was Campbell’s soup. Mario music was playing and the can of soup was jumping like Mario. I was like WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE WII U??? Þórhallur Guðmundsson Bad choises from Nintendo like having a region lock affect this outcome and there is no media center in the system or there is not possible to play dvd or bluray disks in the system Marcos Crill Colon If you want media features on wii u look up plex for wii u it works great I’m able to watch any thing in my computer in hd and it works great with the game pad who needs DVD or blu ray players when they drive the price of the console up Potemkin When the others are offering way more, it would be good if Nintendo added extra value to their consoles. Media Center is ALWAYS a good thing, whether you use it or not. Fred I’m not familiar with plex, but I use PlayOn and PlayLater with my Wii U and it works great! Simon Stevens I have plex on my nowtv box (roku), it basically just streams your content through your local network, it’s cool, but there;s probably better options out there, personally, I just find websites to watch tv shows and anime on through the gamepad 🙂 though lack of flash player really hurts the experience though, no idea why putting it on there is such a struggle for them Fred Those are the things I watch with PlayOn Simon Stevens Is it a website? or some kind of homebrew app? :S Fred PlayOn? It’s a software package that runs on your PC. It pulls video off the internet on your PC and then your PC converts it to a stream that your Console (PS3, Wii U, Wii) can handle and then streams it over your home WiFi through your console onto your TV. So you have to buy the software, but then you can use it to watch all kinds of video content that’s normally only available on your PC http://www.playon.tv/playon http://www.playon.tv/store/buy/?loc=home-20131022 Simon Stevens Sounds great 🙂 if my Wii U was my only outlet I’d be all on board for something like that, definitely useful to some people out there, I just tend to copy stuff to a usb and stick it in the side of my tv, before that, it was all about Playstation3 😛 Marcos Crill Colon I never used play later but I have playon and I feel plex I way better the ui is way better and the steaming looks better ..but play on has the ability to watch hbo etc so that’s good too but if you wanna stream everything from your pc in hd with a great gamepad exp plex is the way to go and its free Fred it’s free? Playon wasn’t free. I use PlayOn for ESPN 3, CBS.com (mostly Big Bang Theory) and the free version of Hulu.com it allowed me to cut off direcTV. I might have to look into this Plex if it’ll let me watch more stuff. I thought I was going to have to use PlayOn to Watch BYU TV, but turns out the Wii U’s HTML 5 web browser is good enough to just watch it directly at BYUtv.org. Þórhallur Guðmundsson Thanks Marcos I will check on that plex and see if I can make it work darkcreap Yep, region locking sucks. Justagamer Who cares about the bluray ..everyone has bluray now so why add it Simon Stevens Blu ray is dead, thanks to online streaming services, Netflix, Lovefilm, Nowtv etc readypembroke Which the Wii U has and also Bluray isn’t dead yet. The PS3, PS4 and Xbox One uses it plus the movie industry makes Bluray versions of their movies. Simon Stevens I didn’t mean like that, but streaming tends to be better value these days than buying blu ray’s individually, I still do mind, I love my anime blu ray collection, just recently added Chobits to it <3 but more and more people these days just set up a online streaming account, much easier, I have a high and wide Disney collection on my nowtv subscription 🙂 can't and haven't complained. Daniel Carvalho I agree about the region lock, it does suck. But regarding DVD or Blu-ray player, it’s useless on a Nintendo system. Nintendo has never had any of those features in previous consoles, as their selling point is the gaming system ONLY for a fair price, in contrast to its rivals that sell a multi functional system very expensively. If they were to put a DVD and/or Blu-ray player in the console, they’d only make it more expensive. Sony develops those devices, so the cost for them to simply integrate it on the console is minimum; Microsoft works with companies that make those as well, so they have the same advantage. Nintendo needs to make partnership contracts with companies that develop DVD and Blu-ray players, as well as the software for those, and in the end it’s not even gonna be their selling point! People complain Nintendo “still don’t let people watch DVD or Blu-ray on their home console systems”, but those who want to do so will already have a DVD player at home, or buy a Blu-ray player if they want it so much. No one is going to get a Nintendo system because of that, if they ever decide to put it, and people would start complaining the system is too expensive, and it should have come without those functions to be at a fair price! LJay So they’ve sold nearly 6 million and made $100 dollars-its a complete flop and how will the feed there kids!!? Surely anything that has sold that amount in a year isnt that bad They have made profit nintendoomers!lol can we get back to talking about the heaps of great games coming out for the wiiu? GregoryTheRainMaker I wouldn’t call it a flop, but its not good. Nintendo realistically should have sold more than that, but they put the Wii U through a 9 month game drought. And Nintendo hasn’t even given dates on the upcoming great games yet…all of January has been wasted which is lame. I know we can expect Donkey Kong Country next month, but the Wii U is going to struggle. Iwata is so outdated it’s hard to watch sometimes. Zuxs13 What’s your point? Sony is still making losses and Microsoft has lost $3billion in the last 10 years from the Xbox division. So Nintendo is the only profit makers guess that makes them the only survivors huh. http://www.neowin.net/news/report-microsofts-xbox-division-has-lost-nearly-3-billion-in-10-years Simon Stevens More sales news?, seriously?, how about positive news? upcoming games?, all that good stuff that was talked about before this generation came about to ruin everything?, Wii talk to U about sales daily, what a joke this site is, bet there’s loads of news out there that slips your radar that’s worthy of a mention but you miss it because you keep posting this boring charts and figures bs, the Wii U should have a calculator app at this rate since that’s all gamers are doing these days, I don’t ask my friends if they want a game of Mario kart anymore, I ask them to do my taxes instead, gamers my ass, my 5 year old right now is playing Dr Luigi while your all sat here behind the imaginary round table talking about how they can sell the system, leave em to it, that’s there problem. Ashley King Go to any gaming website today and you’ll find the same news. The Q3 financial earnings of the quarter got posted and whether you like it or not, it’s news. Simon Stevens Doesn’t mean this website has to do it, just because they are, your supposed to be an influence to people with your news, your rubbing them up the wrong way, i’s negative hogwash that should be categorized as business, not gaming news. Ashley King Reporting on facts is not negative hogwash, I’m sorry. News about Nintendo here gets reported whether it’s good or bad. We’re not a fanboy site, sorry. Simon Stevens Makes me frown to the point I wish I never got the stupid thing, so it’s definitely negative, the name of the site is Wii U daily, who else do you expect to come to this site?, the comment section is fanboy haven, the fact you would categorize people as fanboys in the first place isn’t exactly professional. Rinslowe That’s cool. And awesome too. Tell it how it is. However, please do not give too much credit to the voice of anti Nintendo fanboys either. Wii U Daily may not be a fanboy site. But it sure is a decent place to go for Nintendo news that isn’t infested with entitled fanboy’s from other platforms – all stirring the console war pot. I don’t know, some sites may indeed enjoy the traffic that that sort of thing brings. But eventually the real Nintendo fans just move on… Zuxs13 Its the end of their financial quarter. That is what they are going to report in its the Hughes news. Simon Stevens Why does it matter? lol do games not matter anymore? Zuxs13 Its the biggest news of the day and it speaks to the viability of the company as a whole. Just because you don’t want to know about the numbers doesn’t mean its not news. Wii udaily not reporting on it would be like. CNN etc not reporting on another school shooting because you were tired of hearing about them. Just don’t read the article. If you want to hear about all the Indie games got to Nintendoeverything.com or something. Simon Stevens Good point, I get that, though I wouldn’t put Nintendo sales in the same bracket as a shooting lol, just wish things were more positive that’s all, if they were, I doubt we’d see a good 90% of these sales articles, I shouldn’t try to push my opinions on people, for that I apologize. Zuxs13 I’m sure we all wish they were more positive but the wii u sales suck so these are the facts. But to put it into some perspective Microsoft has LOST $3 billion from the Xbox brand over the last 10 years. So Nintendo made a profit this quarter and game sales were up. So there is positive news in there. and expect a nintendo direct this friday or next week. Simon Stevens It’s just a shame that game and hardware sales these days take the light shed away from games, I don’t worry about Nintendo, I think they’ll always do well, even if the Wii U only sells as well as the gamecube, so many people just seem so set against it for these reasons, that’s why I hate all this publicity, if I was just a general consumer who knew next to nothing about games and was looking for a console, all this talk would turn me off it, I just feel we’re awarding consoles on the wrong merits, ps4 and xbox1 have no games yet are widely considered the best, for what reason?, hardware and sales, Wii U has games but isn’t given a fair shot, hearing that about Microsoft does make me feel better though :p Zuxs13 Just a side note, E3 was originally an investors show case. These investment show cases are how much of the world got “news” on these gaming companies. Gaming magazines and web sites grew because of these Investors meetings. If people don’t invest in these companies, then we don’t get games to hear about. They are all related to one another. When the Wii was selling like hot cakes, these weekly and quarterly sales numbers were given off then too. This is always the case, we live in a global Capitalistic economy (most of us do) so unfortunately sales data is important. Just remember usually around the time Nintendo gives out Financial news they either precede it with game news or the games follow it soon there after. Simon Stevens That’s a fantastic point, I never thought about it like that, in that sense, it’s good to have numbers floating about, I just grow concerned that it influences people who have no real understanding of it to only care about the facts and figures. Fred I hope you’re right about the NIntendo Direct!!! Zuxs13 Im no fortune teller but looking at the past two years or so it would seem likely there will be one soon. They had a big one in Feb of last year so I think they will this year too. Justagamer Im building a nintendo website now that will be better than here or nintendolife Simon Stevens When it’s done, please notify me 🙂 I look forward to it, hopefully the emphasis is on games? :p Jeffrey Debris Math is hard, isn’t it? Sales are a huge part of the news. I come here to check the news and see how Nintendo is doing both financially as well as what they’re up to developing content for us end-users. Simon Stevens It never used to be, that’s my point, it’s a fad and a really silly one at that, I don’t see a point in checking up on them financially, we all know there mega rich and ain’t going anywhere for a good few lightyears or so. Jeffrey Debris Then I’d advise you to skip reading if you see headlines about financial results… It’s not like you have to read the articles. Simon Stevens I’m not stupid, just giving my feedback in hope of more game related articles and less business related articles greengecko007 Don’t like? Then don’t bother clicking on an article knowing full well that you don’t like the subject matter just to leave a nasty comment. There’s plenty of other articles for you to read. Simon Stevens Yes it was nasty upon reflecting on it, it wasn’t originally intended to be, but I apologize either way. greengecko007 That’s fine, but I’d apologise to Ashley, not me. Constructive criticism is a good thing. Calling the website a joke because you don’t like an article is not though… Simon Stevens I am sorry to anybody I have offended, but I would not sell myself short in that way, Ashley is a lovely person and none of it was directed towards her, I was talking about the website as a whole, she isn’t the only one who writes articles for it, she is usually the positive poster, my comment refers mostly to one person who like Lord Voldemort, his name shalt not be spoken Fred I agree and disagree. I think there are many more things I’d love to see on this site. Like reviews for games, but I disagree in that I also like to see news like this. No I don’t want bad news to happen, but if it’s going to happen I would like to know about it. I’ve invested a lot of money into the Wii U and 3DS and I like to keep up to date so that I know how things are going on the financial side. Simon Stevens I should of worded it differently, every now and then I do get curious to see I’ve got how it is doing, but a weekly… almost daily update on the situation, to me at least, is just depressing, regardless of reading the article or not, as a Wii U only site, I feel they should be focused very heavily on upcoming games and features, sales and facts and figures should be nothing more than 1% of the articles, I feel people this site, though it doesn’t intend to, shines a negative light on the console rather than the opposite that it should be shooting for, even a friend of mine said she checked out Wii U daily around Christmas time and felt it was too much of a risk and a gamble to invest into it when reading about how poor 3rd party support is and how much stake people were putting into Mario 3D world, she doesn’t care about sales but she’s worried it was going to be a case of the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast she bought a long time a go, I think she;’s a good example to how the gaming market is right now and just how much of an influence these articles and such are. C4 Yes, true, Nintendo doesn’t give a duck wether a console sells 5 million or 10 million per year. They have to push it regardless. They adjust their strategy, hopefully in a good way. Sega on the other hand had a clear target and the Dreamcast ~ 18 month after (japan) launch didn’t meet that target. Even if Dreamcast sales at that point would have picked up (it roughly met or even exceeded expectations at sales but not profit AFAIK) it means the target to continue wouldn’t have been met. There’s no such target for Ninty – of course the more hw + sw sales the better though, of course! Simon Stevens I understand all of that, but people non involved and non interested in the gaming world probably wouldn’t so they might be put off by it, I think Sega deserved to go out of business as they weren’t well trusted with there hardware, given the fact that they never stood by it, Nintendo regardless of sales have always stood by there hardware, failure or otherwise, you have to feel sorry for them, as most articles around these days, including the articles Wii U daily produce, are for the most part very condescending and paint a picture of the Wii U as somehow inferior to the console market, it’s upto Nintendo now to prove everybody wrong….. again, and make no mistake, they will 🙂 Ducked I agree with you, why do Wii U owners care about bad sales news? If you google Wii U, all you get is doom and gloom articles. Unless the Wii U hits some huge milestone is sales, or is discontinued because of it, then I don’t care. I’ve seen many Wii U game news missed out, while these stupid articles show up on here instead. Simon Stevens Exactly my point 🙂 thankyou for pointing it out, anybody who google’s the Wii U, and in today’s society, anybody can from any given location anywhere in the world, they could be stood next to it in a shop debating on buying it, google it, see all the bad press and be turned off by it, the gaming industry never used to be this negative and for the most part, had article after article about upcoming games and generating excitement for those games, these days it’s mostly complaints, Nintendo have just announced NDS games coming to the eshop for the Wii U, if more time was spent looking into it, we’d have seen an article already and probably some of the games that are debuting on the VC, absolutely nothing thus far, it’s not just Nintendo though, I was reading an article the other day about Kingdom Hearts 3 and rather than talk up the game the article stated it may not sell well and be a made move for Square Enix, I miss the days when Developers and Publishers did there job for the love of making great games, not a quick buck. Ducked Exactly, you’d think a Wii U site would strive to get exciting news on the system, rather than gloomy sales. And that’s another good thing you stated out that I recently thought of. People interested in a Wii U are gonna google it, and then be turned away from it, just like you said. I saw the same article you did about Kingdom Hearts III, their acting like the series can’t make a comeback. And of course, Wii U Daily still hasn’t reported that DS virtual console. The writers can’t defend this site. I might switch over to Nintendo Life, they actually post Wii U news, and write many reviews on games. Simon Stevens If they own the site, I fail to see why they feel obligated to post this kind of news, the writers on here go on about Nintendo never changing in the ways they want them to and ignoring the fanbase yet they are extremely hypocritical as they don’t change one bit, not even a smidge, they actually participate in the comments section and ridicule the people for having a different opinion than the article they’ve posted, it’s highly unprofessional, and I fail to see how any of these authors are even remotely qualified in this field when they make such rash and bold statements, half the time it takes the readers to correct them. I know a few people who were interested in the Wii U initially but have since turned into a robot spouting the same negative unjust nonsense that’s going around now in these articles from the big name sites, they have some vendetta and agenda towards Nintendo, there is no other way around it, even when the Wii was flying, soaring even in sales, as was the DS, they always found ways to nitpick the achievements Nintendo had made and bring them down to an inferior level, for what reason?, hardware?, there games were different?, they didn’t serve the generic audience and instead served the audience the other 2 forgot about?, very petty selfish reasons for sure. I still fail to see what they’ve done wrong, they have a fantastic business model and have always been about bringing us great games, what more can a company really do?, other than deliver hardware to play there great games on?, I think the biased people who spread the negative vibes are the ones to blame in all of this. I think Kingdom Hearts will make a great comeback, Square Enix seemed to have learned there lesson, last generation, they got greedy and tried to serve the western audience, t didn’t work out, they didn’t get the mega millions they expected, now, they’ve started focusing on the jrpg foundation they left behind, and hopefully it works out for them, I think I’ll join you on Nintendolife by the way, I watch there youtube channel a lot, it’s great, all about the games, lets get on it. 😀 RyuNoHadouken they need to release 8 AAA titles this year alone!!!! shit is so simple…ugh, they piss me off at Ninty!!!! Daniel Carvalho Come one, Nintendo, it’s not the seasonal factors that will hinder Wii U sales, it’s your poor advertisement campaign! If you were advertising the Wii U like you should be doing, you could’ve reached the goal of 9 millions in 5 months! Ducked Nintendo needs to ditch the gamepad, not all together. They need to make it where the system can be started without the gamepad. Nintendo could sell the Wii U at $199.99 USD if they packed a 32 GB Wii U with the Pro controller. Update the Pro controller with a headset jack, and motion. Then sell the Wii U gamepad for $99.99 to those who want it in the future. greengecko007 I think that would have been a good idea during the launch period, but now they may as well stick with the gamepad. They have put their focus on 1st party games, and I think that’s the best they can do now. Simon Stevens That’s a good point, but they dropped the 3D from the 3DS to make it cheaper, so I can see them doing the same thing to the Wii U, it’s not a bad thing though really, I got my 2ds for 99 pound with pokemon y, and right now it’s available with Animal crossing for 89 pound in GAME in the uk, if they could do that to the Wii U, and with the games out for it, I could see a lot of people buying into it greengecko007 It wasn’t really to make it cheaper, after all, the 3DS is the fastest selling console. Nintendo made the 2DS after they got sued for patent infringement of 3d camera capability because of the 3DS. Because the 2DS doesn’t use 3D, Nintendo gets to keep all of the money from its sales. Simon Stevens Whatever the reasons, it’s still a decent piece of hardware that’ll probably sell well through it’s life time, I was tired of stealing my son’s 3ds xl so having my own access to 3ds games is great as that’s all I cared about, though I;ll admit, In comparison to the xl…. I feel really inferior lol Rinslowe They likely introduced the 2DS in wanting a market segment which despite the success of 3DS was still open… Especially the younger market, which keeps “getting” younger, 3D is an issue there. Also the super bargain gamers as an entry level device… The patent issue wouldn’t have been a motivator in this scenario. Their lawyers would have had a clear plan from day one. And as it turns out they reached an agreement on that issue. Correct? Yen I don’t really know what you’re complaining about. The Wii U CAN start without the gamepad. If you really don’t like the gamepad, let the battery run out and just leave it on the side. The Wiimote alone can start the Wii U and operate it. Simon Stevens You shouldn’t have to wait for the battery on the gamepad to run out, I just started the Wii U and the gamepad turned on anyway :(, going to let it run out of battery and test out your theory lol as like ducked, I much prefer just using the pro controller. Yen I can’t say for the pro controller cause I don’t have one. But I can do it with a wiimote and the classic controller attachment. I guess the real issue is that the gamepad turns on when the Wii U does. But is that really a problem? Just let it be on, don’t look at it if you don’t want to use it. I’m just not seeing why we need to go as far as getting rid of it. Simon Stevens Lol I used to throw my coat over it while I was watching Netflix because it was just so distracting, some games don’t work without the gamepad, which is a shame because some of these games show no real use of having to use it Ducked Not for opening up passwords Yen I will say, it’d be nice if they let you at least sign in without needing the gamepad, but it’s not that hard to workaround the gamepad if you really hate it that much. Just sign in and switch to another controller if it bothers you that much. You not wanting to sign in on the gamepad is not really a reason for them to drop it as the main controller. Simon Stevens I agree with this, mostly because all I ever wanted was a Nintendo console boasting high definition visuals with a gamecube style controller, like the 3D feature on the 3DS, even Nintendo have abandoned the very idea of it, as an accessory for certain games and offtv play, it would please some, but certainly not all, my analog sticks recently went on the gamepad, had I not been a technician, that could have been a costly replacement or repair, in that sense it was always a bad idea. Ducked My A button us wearing out, and if the gamepad goes for anyone, it’s a costly replacement like you said. Nintendo could sell the Wii U for so much cheaper if the Pro controller was included instead of the gamepad in some bundles. Wii U owners would eventually buy the gamepad. Marcos Crill Colon Nintendo fixed mines for free and replaced my screen when there was nothing even wrong with and I didn’t pay a dime Marcos Crill Colon Nintendo fixed mines for free and replaced my screen when there was nothing even wrong with it and I didn’t pay a dime Simon Stevens That’s great man, I have more than 1 Wii U unfortunately and the gamepad that went was the basic I bought at launch so my warranty was up I’m afraid, all in all I’ve bought 4 Wii U’s lol 2 for my house, 1 for my son’s house and 1 for my mum’s house, it’s a great present for anybody to enjoy, just not so great when the analogs mess up which is a common problem for any controller, kinda why I wish they’d stuck with the original design of 3DS styled analogs, weird how the Wii U system itself could pass for a casual pc, my step dad never plays games on it but literally does all his browising and youtube watching on it, mostly he loves Wii street U, I can’t ever go onto that app, it makes me wanna cry lol the music is so nostalgic Marcos Crill Colon But even if you brought it at launch you get a year and half warranty if you register the console on club Nintendo Simon Stevens My Wii U’s premiums are registered, never got around to the basic, that’s good service that from Nintendo, oh well 🙂 doesn’t matter now, replaced em and all is fine and dandy Zuxs13 Then what differentiates it from the other systems out there and its predecessor? Not much if you remove it. The gamepad is the best part of the Wii U after the games. Ducked Because some people just want to play Nintendo games like Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, etc. Zuxs13 Then buy the Nintendo. Quit complaining about something that isn’t worth complaining about. Removing the pro-controller would be like removing the app store from an iPhone, its just moronic. You can buy a pro controller (white) for $15 big deal. Or you can use the wii classic controller that has been lying around for years if you are that cheap. You keep touting its the games, but the games are not the only thing people buy the console for. The game pad doesn’t make the console that much more expensive, but it makes the user experience far better than the other two consoles. Marcos Crill Colon Yea so we can have 3 consoles the are the same but the wii u will be the least powerful ..the pad is what makes the wii u special they can’t abandon it at all ..plus you must not own a wii u if you say that as every wii u owner knows how magical the pad is its a real game changer Ducked People buy Nintendo consoles, for Nintendo games. The gamepad separates it from the other two consoles, but it’s the exclusives that makes people want to buy a Wii U. If that were true, then Wii U wouldn’t be selling this bad. Marcos Crill Colon But that’s the thing it’s not selling bad it was the first half of the year but has since picked up a lot ..they just had there best month in the US in dec and they sole more then there launch month ..they are actually selling a few thousands less then ps4 and x1 globally and that’s expected cause there new and there’s still launch hype also how many articles where there saying stores were clearing wii u stock to make room for the other next gen consoles so wii u putting up them numbers is great …just look there not selling more but it’s not like there selling really bad ..back in July or august I can’t remember the date they said they only sold 3.6 million to date ..now 6 months later they allmost doubled that ..that’s almost 3 million wii u’s ..there doing good and once the other games come like kart they will be ok it’s just the media makes them look bad just like today there posting they sold 2.4 million in 9 months when that’s untrue it was a way less timeframe than that when in the summer they said they where at 3.6 etc look I found there article it was in July they had 3.6 sold ..http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/31/nintendo-financials-reveal-dire-wii-u-sales Rinslowe No, no they don’t Brandon Well the wii u is just as dead as the vita but at least sony is trying to revive it. Agent721 A small improvement over the original dismal sales…Mariokart can’t come soon enough! Mj78 MK8. Everyone said Mario would be the system seller….it just ain’t gonna happen folks. One great game cannot change the damage already done and it is all of Nintendo’s own making. C4 It’s an important title, but I wonder who buys the console for Mario Kart and not Mario 3D World? Smash, MK, Bayonetta and others will make Wii U a more complete package. Make people know that and advertize them, Nintendo… Rinslowe 6 – 6.5 million is about what most people were expecting by March 14. Ha, I guess that makes us all a bit more qualified than Pachter on Wii U matters. 🙂 Lol. Donaald Getting better? Yes. Getting better fast? No.
