When discussion about Nintendo games comes up, inevitably there’s always someone calling for the re-visiting of old franchises, such as F-Zero or StarTropics. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime says bringing back dormant franchises might be more likely than you think.

“Nintendo is a very fortunate place, we have over 30 different franchises, and we look constantly for opportunities to bring those franchises to bear on our most current systems. I’m not making any promises, and I’m not making any commitments, but certainly we are thinking about, for Wii U and for 3DS, what are those franchises? Maybe those franchises that have been dormant for a few years, that we can lovingly bring to those platforms to drive our business forward.”

For fans of older franchises, this is great news as it confirms that Nintendo is looking positively at all of their IPs and what can work for both the Wii U and the 3DS. What do you think of this news? Which franchises do you want to see re-visited the most? Let us know in the comments.

  • Jon

F-Zero, Star Fox, Earthbound and of course Metroid would be great to add to the Wii U library! πŸ˜€

Heck, maybe even a Game and watch game. πŸ˜€

    • Luffy

      and Star Tropics!

      • Jon

        I don’t think I ever played that franchise… what systems/games where there?

        • Shaise Mughal

          I think the NES

        • Luffy

there are two games, both on the original NES
          1- Star Tropics
          2- Zoda’s Revenge
both are great and are worth playing if you enjoy old school gaming.

I think the first Star Tropics is available on the Wii virtual console

          • Michael Legault

They are both available on the wii virtual console actually. the first is one of the best NES games I had back in the day. sadly the cart doesn’t work anymore, something broke on the inside >_<

        • LoZ4life98

Star Tropics U would be so cool! It would be cool if Nintendo did something bold like that, and not another 2D Mario.

        • Kaihaku

Star Tropics was considered the sister game to the original Legend of Zelda. It’s an adventure game involving aliens that takes place in the tropics.

      • Hamzilla22

        Your name rocks

        • Luffy

          Arigato gozaimasu!

    • Guhtere

Well Metroid doesn’t need that much of “reviving.” They’ve had a few games within the past few years. But even with that I think they should make some kind of new Metroid game, whether it will be like Super Metroid, Prime, or Other M and if it’s for the Wii U or 3DS.

    • Clel

Still playing Star Fox 64, waiting for the next one…

      • Jesus Eduardo Lara Ortiz

Star Fox: Assault perhaps? I really like it :3 it’s for the Gamecube

        • Arthur Jarret

Star fox command for DS is also awesome once you get used to the controls… a bit easy but so much fun!

          • Kaihaku

That last line is my only issue with the game…so much potential but too easy! I’d love to see a new Star Fox with similar gameplay but amped up difficulty. Nintendo, are you listening? This would be a great title to show off the Wii U’s gamepad!

          • MujuraNoKamen

Yep, I liked Command too far from the best, but it was a solid game anyway. Adventures was good (but not Starfox-y enough) and I really liked Assault – I really don’t get why that one gets so much flak – sure it wasn’t as good as 64 but still great.
Anyway, we’ve been begging for a new Star fox for years now, Nintendo better get on and do it! they don’t appear to be doing that much else but I’m confident they’ve a couple of heavy hitters in the works.

          • Arthur Jarret

I’d love a prequel staring James McCloud, Peppy, Pigma and a mission-dependant 4th flier (i.e. – James hiring Wolf in the last mission – which in turn betrays him together with Pigma in the end sequence).

I think this is the best way to flesh out the story without having to resort to another crazy andross revival or out-of-character-krystal siding with star wolf-type betrayals.

        • TULFich

          Starfox adventures was waaaaaaaay better

      • MetroidZero

        The Skull! SONIC PHANTOM!

      • Mario

Oh my gosh! You kept playing Star fox 64 for so long that you didn’t eat!? Look at you now! You’re nothing but a skeleton! (Kidding! I know this is fake! I’m just joking!)

        • Clel

No need for the disclaimer XD

      • LOL

    • Metroid isn’t a dormant franchise…

    • nin-10-doughfan

remember no metroid and starfox at E3! so they are just considering!

  • Linskarmo

I think a good F-zero would be fun, but then again I’m fine with Mariokart.

    • Nintedward

F-zero has so much potential for online play. Just ramming your buddy of the edge of a track would be the greatest thing ever *wipes eye*

      • howling_wolf1334:[

        Im agree with you, nintendward!!!

      • JB

A sort of devious satisfaction… Haha!

      • Ice Climbers

30 player online, with 5 player local multiplayer. 1080p HD mouth-watering futuristic graphics at a solid 60 FPS. Unforgivably difficult tracks. Ramming your buddies at 400 mph with an awesome soundtrack playing. There are no words to describe how great this would be.

  • Remember, Kid Icarus and Luigi’s Mansion are old IPs that Nintendo revived on the 3DS as well.

    • david jarman

Omg! I would absolutely love a Luigi ‘s Mansion on the wii u.

      • Rafael Saldana

Did anyone besides me like Geist on Gamecube? I thought thst game was amazing

        • Arthur Jarret

Geist was awesome… badguy lobs a grenade at you? Just jump out of your body, possess the grenade and roll right back to him!

          It was a great game!

Talking about not very popular one-off gamecube games… Odama would definately work VERY well with the wii U gamepad, too!

Just increase the speed of the ball and make an easy mode!

          • ConCity Soldier

Geist n a true Eternal Darkness sequal needs to come to Wii U. Not to knock Shadows of Eternals, which doesnt look to be even coming out. Excitetruck needs a Wii U sequal, the one on Wii looks sick. I’m finally buy it soon to play on my Wii U, since I never owned the original Wii to play it on. Bring back F-Zero while your at it too. πŸ™‚

          • Arthur Jarret

Eternal Darkness 2: Can you just imagine the insanity effects they could do by using the wii u gamepad’s gyroscope – as well as the camera and microphone? (Amplify your breathing) – or even making scratching sounds from the speakers to catch your attention – then attacking on-screen etc. etc.)

I really wish excitebots was released in europe… but I’d love a wii U sequel even more… just call it excite-racing, include a robust track editor and the mechanics from truck/bots – include both bots and tracks and bring back bikes and exitequads…

          • Andreas Sunde

For a second there I thought it said Obama… O_o

          • Arthur Jarret

That would be a great sequel name.
Roll over bad guys with your big black balls!

            I just made myself sick…

        • david jarman

That is a sweet game too! I know this isn’t a nintendo exclusive game, but it was sweet on the GameCube-“Second Sight!”
It was created by Free Radical now known as Crytek. The game was brilliant.
I would love to see on the wii u.

          • Arthur Jarret

Not to mention the timesplitters series – parts 2 and 3 came out for gamecube.

This was the part of Rare that had talent! Glad they left to give us great console shooters instead of kinect sports

          • david jarman

I absolutely love the timesplitters series!
Now they are known as crytek and work with EA.
They are developing a timesplitters 4 for ms and ps4.

        • Saul Rivera

Funny I was going to say Geist

    • Rich Garriques

im happy they are looking into bringing back past ips but im going to be pissed if i see the majority of them appear on 3ds. im sick and tired of nintendo focusing so much on their handheld instead of console. if they do this again its going to be the end of wii u just like it was for wii.

      • Luffy

I heard somewhere that Nintendo will start focusing more on the Wii U now that the 3DS is pretty much on track to becoming the best selling console of all time.

So expect most of Nintendo effort in the coming years to go toward making the Wii U another successful story in their long record of success.

      • ItzameyaToad

Im not sure what you mean? The Wii was the most successful home console of last generation(current gen) it didn’t fail at all. I get what you mean though if you mean them not putting more solid IP’s on Wii than the DS but really the Wii was very successful.

        • Arthur Jarret

Even then – you can’t knock the wii for a lack of games either.

Everybody seems to forget the great games on wii and only talk about it’s reputation as a casual device.

I can list over 100 great wii games that are well suited to hardcore players and which made me forget my PS3

          • ItzameyaToad

I know I think personally the Wii had the best game library of the current gen consoles.

          • Arthur Jarret

I’m having a tough time to choose the best between Wii and PS3…

I loved uncharted, heavy rain, Ni no kuni, Tales of graces, Mortal Kombat etc. etc.

I also loved Trauma center, Mario galaxy, Metroid prime 3, Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, Muramasa, Deadly creatures, Both zeldas, Batallion wars 2…

Luckily – I was able to get both ^_^

if portables count, then DS wins my ‘best library of next gen’-vote…

          • ItzameyaToad

Sadly I really can’t comment on PS3(was soley a Wii and Xbox 360 gamer) but when comparing it to Xbox 360 it completely destroys it IMO.

          • MujuraNoKamen

Amen, maybe I go as far as to call it the best library of the gen but it had a lengthy list of A* titles (that sadly seem to be neglected) that, despite what people say, kicked the crud out of even PS360’s best games. IMO it had the best exclusives but it lacked the 3rd party games, it was good to get away from CoD and FIFA rehashes but there were some awesome 3rd party games like Red Dead Wii missed out on which evens the field between the consoles.
Xenoblade, 2 Zelda’s, Okami, NMH, MH3, 2 Galaxys, Resi 4, MP3 & Trilogy, SSBB, Mario Kart, Radiant Dawn, Kirby, DKCR, etc. How was this a bad console?

    • everyone

I know its not that old, but I wouldn’t mind them making another Super Princess Peach or Starfy game. They were both pretty underrated on the DS.

    • AAAkabob

      Finally bought Kid Icarus today!

    • LopsidedPasta

OMG! Maybe we can finally get another Mario game (Google search “Nintendo Mario” if you are unfamiliar). It was a side scrolling platformer in which a guy jumped on animal-like creatures, grew, and shot fire. It sold pretty well on the NES, but due to Punch Out’s enduring success, the game quickly became forgotten. Come on Nintendo! I want a second Mario game!

      • Guest

The sarcasm is strong in this one.

        Please I am.

      • Luca Invernizzi

The sarcasm is strong in this one.

        Pleased I am.

  • Metroid33slayer

Nintendo’s other three racers F-zero, waverace and 1080 snowboarding would be amazing on wii u.

    • Luffy

and Uniracers! (or something like it, since I think they had problem with pixar on how the unircycle looked)

      • JB

Excitebike! And don’t judge.. I’d like to see Gryomite.. I always had fun with that one… It would be rad as a co-op game!

    • Norfair20X5

A new Waverace would be beyond RAD!

      • Kaihaku

Definitely! I loved the N64 game.

    • Tobias Naustdal

a 1080 snowboard game for the wii fit ^^

      • Kaihaku

        Sounds like fun!

      • ItzameyaToad

        Yes! That would be awesome!

    • Arthur Jarret

Diddy kong racing, Kirby airride, Excitebike/truck/bot, Stunt FX, Uniracers, Mach rider, Rad racer, EVR race (now that’s an OLD franchise) and R.C. Pro AM all say hi, too!

      • Kaihaku

A new Diddy Kong Racing would provide a nice contrast to Mario Kart 8.

    • ItzameyaToad

Oh man lol brought back memories when I read 1080 lol. Actually I think I bought it on Wii may have to play it in a few! but yeah that would be awesome to see it come to Wii U!

  • Lusunup

    what about StarFox..

  • Saleh Sbeiti

Guys, he means games like Ice Climbers, Excite Bike, Mr.G&W. Not Star Fox.

  • david jarman

I would love to see river city ransom on the vc.

  • Nintedward

Is Starfox and F-zero really too much to ask for ? just put new iterations on 3DS and I will be happy. F-Zero GX deserves a Windwaker style remake but with a little bit more of an overhaul with online and Miiverse πŸ˜‰

    • Clel

Starfox multiplayer! That could be awesome (on top of a proper campaign and stuff like that). A polished, well-made one, of course, but it could be really good.

      • Starfox assault Wii U. But one that people besides myself will love! XD

      • Nintedward

Yes! Starfox Multiplayer is already proven localy , but online would take it into another dimension!

      • JB

That would be be pretty awesome! I would also like to see some sort of co-op element a la double dash, where one person controls the arwing and the other controls the weapons!

      • WarioForever

The best Star Fox multiplayer has Assault. You can’t deny this, people.

  • Jimmy D. Fugate

    Star Tropics please…

    • Luffy

    • Kaihaku

Such a relief to see that I’m not the only fan of Star Tropics.

  • Ony

C’mon Metroid is old enought, it’s time to be considered RETRO by a certain STUDIO… get it.. Retro Stud…
Well ok it was lame. I’d really like to see a revival of Starfox.

  • Super Buu

    My wishlist:

-StarFox (Do I need to explain why it needs to comeback?)

-F-Zero (Mario Kart 8 may look better than most of the past ones but I still want the challenge and speed of an F-Zero game)

-Nazo No Murasamejou (Basically, this is Takamaru’s game and I can see it being made in an open world Action Adventure game like Zelda)

-Custom Robo (If you like Pokemon and Action RPGs, this is an absolute must)

    -Battalion Wars (Addictive and challenging)

-Chibi Robo (When a game makes cleaning fun, you know it’s an awesome game)

Even if any one of them gets revived, I’m going to be a happy guy.

    • Clel

    • Yoshiwhirlwind

      Chibi Robo HD!

    • Arthur Jarret

To be fair, many games on your list don’t need reviving – as they got a game last gen. Battallion wars sequel came out on wii, chibi robo sequel on DS, Custom robo on DS, Starfox on DS… and even on this gen’s 3DS…

I’d love a sequel to them – but I’m not thinking of those when discussing revived classics.

      • Super Buu

        True true.

    • Johny

i LOVED custom robo arena on 3ds… it looked amazing, played amazing… it was just something completely unique to have on ds. then i got kid icarus.. my dreams were put to rest…. you see.. i didnt play custom robo for robots, but for awesome 3rd person skill based amazing combat

    • SmashFinale

Someone finally said Custom Robo. Thank goodness im not the only one that remembers that game.
And the potential they can do with it on 3DS alone. Imagine it on Wii U!

Also Sin and Punishment. They just announced two Yoshi games so that isn’t needed to be asked for.

      • Kaihaku

I loved Star Successor…if only it had sold better.

  • Rade

    What is Star Tropics?!? xDD
Seriously…I never heard about it until last month

    • Jimmy D. Fugate
    • Luffy

it’s a great game that is well worth your attention. Seriously, I would SO much see Retro being great at reviving this franchise.

    • Nothing5555

And this is why Nintendo should work on some of the older IPs. There are several generations of gamers who were not born before 1995 and missed out on a lot of good games.

    • Kaihaku

The sister game to the original Legend of Zelda. It’s an adventure game that takes place in the tropics and involves aliens. Also one of my favorite NES games.

  • Sam

    Star fox maybe?

  • ChiwawaBoi

Today…my dream just came true. :’)

  • Zombie_Andrew

All I want is Nintendo to reach 9 million sales by the end of the year, and have more IPs out in Spring 2014, all there seems to be is Mario Kart, then gain my wallet can’t handle one game let alone all this awesomeness. Still at least ASDA are doing the premium at Β£250

  • ezquimacore

You’re thinking too much Reggie!, PLAY THE GAMES, it’s all about THE GAMES!!!

  • Brandon Gardner

Pitfall! Can be Nintendo’s answer to Uncharted!

    • Luffy

Pitfall is not own by Nintendo. It’s actually an Activision IP

  • howling_wolf1334:[

    F-Zero, please, F-Zerooooo!!!! Ok… I said it… Hahaha…

  • Felix Comouth

New F-Zero, Metroid and Earthbound Remake!!! Damn, you can DO A FCKING LOAD OF MONEY, WITH THE IP’S YOURE SITTING ON, NINTENDO!

  • Felix Comouth

Advance Wars Wii U would be also pretty amazing.

  • leemass25

battalonion wars 3 im interested how they could use the gamepad and expand the gameplay, but on old franchises id probably say f-zero and star fox and also if ea hadn’t of acquired star wars games i would of said rogue squadron.

    • leemass25

i know rouge squadren arnt nintendo ip but still would like to see it return on nintendo

      • Arthur Jarret

Battallion wars is part of the advance wars series (known as famicom wars in japan) – it’s a nintendo IP! Star wars unfortunately isn’t… and the company which made the rogue squadron games is gone…

  • Edward

    Ice Climbers!!!

  • mblow12

bomberman 64 duddy Kong racing the original bajo kazooie the gauntlet glover jetforce Gemini Pokemon snap Pokemon stadium I’ll name them all

  • Ray01x

    Custom Robo. . . . . .

  • Jay_D

I would love Nintendo to bring back Mr Nutz by Ocean. One of my all time favorites. Please Please Please Nintendo. At least put it on Virtual Console ill buy that game anytime.

  • AdriΓ‘n GonzΓ‘lez Briones

What about Advanced Wars? I think Wii U has a great tool with the gamepad for this game.

  • Shreckle

The wii u gamepad would work so well for pokemon snap game. Awesome stuff!

  • Byrong1

Mario Paint from Super Nintendo would be great for the Wii U. And Balloon Kid, I played it on Game Boy but think they made an NES one as well.

    • Byrong1

What about Crystalis? Is that a Nintendo franchise?

      • QuizmasterBos

        Nope, that’s made by SNK.

  • JuleyJules

Popeye is another one as old as Donkey Kong. I’m surprised they’ve released several versions of it over the years. Next year is 85 years since Popeye was created.

  • Nintendofreak

earthbound, chrono trigger, chibi robo just no name a few (dont know if their nintendo’s so please dont start bitching)

    • Luffy

just chrono trigger that is not own by nintendo (its own by square).

Tetsuya Takahashi (who is the creator of the xeno serie and the upcoming X on Wii U, used to work for square and he was the graphic director for chrono trigger and most of the crew that left square to form Monolith Software (that is own by Nintendo now) where the team responsible for chrono cross.

So you probably wont get another chrono from nintendo, but a lot of the people responsible for it are now working for Nintendo. So maybe one day a spiritual successor? (would be beyond amazing!)
      maybe after X…

  • Andrew Toner

give me banjo and kazooie 3 and i will give you my house oh wait……. microsoft bought rare and we all know what happened ahem nuts and bolts ahem my life will never become complete

If Nintendo can make a Wii Party U (which I don’t believe anybody wants because it’s like Mario Party, except without the fun and recognizable designs), they can make Star Tropics, Ice Climbers, Metroid, Star Fox, etc.

  • uPadWatcher

    Factor 5’s Turrican!

  • A SNES Day Off

Our bodies are ready for some F-Zero racing…

  • DereX

FACT : Nintendo DS is the best selling Nintendo console of all time and pokemon is the best selling game for the DS (all versions combined)…..

If Nintendo were a smart company then they would release a Pokemon game on their WiiU; however, they will not do that “in the near future”. Reviving an old franchise is not going to prevent people from selling their WiiU.

Mario must be slinging those mushrooms to the entire Nintendo staff.

    • Starfoxguy

Another Fact: The Nintendo DS is also the best selling console of all-time.

  • Starfoxguy

    Starfox, F-Zero, and Earthbound.
    Nintendo please make it happen.

  • Spike Ashford

Does that mean I can has new Star Fox pls? :3

  • Guest

a new Baten Kaitos would be nice to see

  • klenko

Earthbound and Star Fox I want those 2 franchises!!!!

  • Lil J Moore

Some RPG’s would nice to have on WiiU. Baten Kaitos comes to mind. I’ll love to see another game like that. an HD remake of those games would also be nice

    • Baten Kaitos is owned by Namco, so that’s just another franchise they need to “Bayonetta 2”.

      • Lil J Moore

Well I would still love to see another one. Both underrated games

      • Luffy

yeah but it was made by monolith software, so maybe they will make a spiritual successor (just like they continued the “xeno” serie even thou they started that serie while working for square (xenogears).

And I would love a sequel to Soma Bringer on wii u (another monolith software game release on the DS. Unfortunately, it was not release outside of japan, but you can find a fandub rom on the net, and its a great game!)

  • Kirbyomega

Can someone link me a list of all of Nintendo’s franchises?

  • $41809923

  • therealruben1

Star Fox and F Zero.Even if they are re releases!

  • DereX

Will they ever remake the good Nintendo games like Medabots and Bubble bobble, Bomberman, DK racing, Quest 64, Megaman Battle Network, DK64, Star Fox, and Banjo Kazooie?

    • Those aren’t made by Nintendo except Star Fox, that would require more red tape for them.

  • Brian Bridenbecker

Nothing wrong with reviving games from the past…Xbox and PS are all about first-person-shooters for the most part. I would love to see a revival of: Duck Hunt, Original Donkey Kong (Updated and Modernized); Popeye, Kun-Fu and Luigi’s Mansion on the WiiU…They title it” LM’s Haunted U-niversity!!!!

    • Lord Carlisle

There’s a pixar movie coming out that’s named something like that.

  • wober2

I really want something besides zelda with a huge discover-able world filled with npc’s and lore! “X” will be this but I would love a new mario rpg with non-turn base mechanics.

  • kyoko

i would love to see twinbee on the wii u

  • Erik Lind

I wish they make a true Secret of Mana game for the Wii U like the 1 they had on Snes.

    • Mvasd

      oooooOO…. Agree

  • Johny

Does another iterationr of Kid icarus counts as reviving old franchises ?
because WAW… i bought a wii u with a grain of hope for a kid icarus game, since Uprising is one of my (if not THE) favourite games on my 3ds… have over 200 gameplay hours on it πŸ˜€ online is awesome too ! just another proof (aside from MK) that nintendo can do good online if they want to…
and the gameplay.. OH IT WAS SOOO GOOOD.. so fast paced and awesome. but it had its flaws, like cumbersome powers selection, etc..
WHICH could be “fixed” and improved on wii u SOO much. Even if they would choose to keep the 3ds control scheme (touchscreen aiming) which worked WONDERS ! they would have like… 2 more buttons than on 3ds πŸ˜€ (+ better accessible D-pad)
its just a must! .. uprising was just SUUUUCH a good game.

  • plsburydoughboy

If we’re talking long dormant franchises with potential, I’d go for Battle Clash/Metal Combat. They have quite a few puzzle games, including puzzle platformers, that would do just fine just coming to Virtual Console!

  • Beat

    Custom Robo!

  • Lil J Moore

Starfox- don’t play it much, but would love to see one for the WiiU

Kid Icarus- Uprising was great. Would love to see an adventure on the WiiU

    Luigi’s Mansion U-Hey a guy can dream.

    Some nice RPG’s.

    Ice Climbers- ?

    Kirby dreamland for WiiU

    Yoshi island for WiiU.

    • everyone

      Paper Luigi

  • disqus_ZkQtVQupxN

I’d personally like to see the following:
Paper mario for Wii U (like the N64 original rather than Wii, not played TYD or SS so can’t compare)
F-Zero, new game, new tracks but like SSB and MHU a simultaneous release on 3ds and Wii U as IMO it would look fantastic in HD and 3d!
Metroid for Wii U (FPS like prime with an online multiplayer that shows up the likes of call of battlefield)
Metroid for 3ds (Super Metroid style, less liniar than Other M)
Mario Strikers for Wii U (featuring, bear with me, licenced teams. Put Mario and the others in any strip – think Mario meets FIFA but without the boring stuff)
    Excite Truck Wii U/3ds
Advanced/batillion Wars 3ds. Essentially advanced wars controlled by touch screen but your top screen would show the unit in full 3d Batilion wars style (one of my first thoughts when 3ds was announced and it’s just occurs to me I’ve pretty much described Fire Emblem)!
I would also like to see (highly unlikely) a Sonic & Mario ‘worlds collide’ style platform taking the best from Generations and NSMB for the 3ds. Or a full HD 2d platformer. (I know that’s not reviving a franchise per say but it’s a modern take on retro platformer a).

    • that guy

played all of the paper mario games and thousand year door is easily the best. i suggest you play it.

      • disqus_ZkQtVQupxN

I do intend too. Struggling to find it and tends to be pricey on eBay. Same for f-Zero GX. I’m hoping GC games will appear on the Wii U VC but not holding my breath for anytime soon! Still awaiting TVii here in the UK!

    • disqus_ZkQtVQupxN

I would also like to see a Wii U remake of Pokemon Gold/Silver in a full 3d world. A cross between Stadium and Xenoblades. Jotoh & Kanto, 251 Pokemon, 16 gym leaders and the elite 4!

    • Wildcat

      Wave Race anyone??

    • Baconfat23

Every game you listed had a game last-gen and would end up being a sequel and not a revival, except for the Mario & Sonic platformer which would be a new franchise and not a revival either

  • RoyCar69

I’d love to see a modern Duck Hunt, Excite bike, and Kung Fu. Oh the endless hours..

    • Wildcat

actually a new hunting game version with a new Wii u gun could be refreshing its brilliant when you have friends over

  • JakeySpades

It seems as if the the only franchises they focus on these days are Mario, Zelda and Pokemon. I honestly think they should have more Pokemon games for a home console rather than a portable. Pokemon Snap with all these knew Pokemon would be great and would really utilize the gamepad’s features. I also think they should get with Sega to bring back an old Sega franchise; Jet Set Radio.

  • I bet it’s StarTropics

    • Kaihaku

      One can hope.

      • Luffy

it will be, mark my word πŸ˜›

New Final Fantasy, chrono trigger 3,a new lufia New,Luigis mansion,New secret of mana,New crazy taxi, and A new illusions of gaia game!

  • Matthew Tyler Preston

o and I liked that quest 64 game.

  • Nintendo4life

    Legendary wings please!

  • AJ SV

    F___ IT! BATTLETANX!!!

    • Starfoxguy

Sorry to kill your dreams but the studio that owns the rights to battletanx shut down year ago. But that would look cool on the Wii U.

      • AJ SV

        Dreams killed πŸ™

  • ItzameyaToad

Here is my list of ones I think that need to be revived, Star-Fox: I want a Star Fox that pays homage to old fans and to people who are new to the series. I also want a 3d world in which there are air battles as well as on foot adventering. F-Zero: while I got a copy of F-Zero GX only 2-3 years ago I feel I am able to say it needs a long overdue entry in the series. Yoshi: I say Yoshi realizing Yoshi Yarn coming to the 3ds but I want a true successor on the Wii U to Yoshi Island on N64.Pokemon: I realize that many people don’t want to see a Pokemon type game on a home console but I think it would be awesome to get another game like Pokemon Snap or a better sequal to Pokemon Stadium, or even a console adventure much like what is offered on Nintendo’s handhelds(have never understood why Nintendo home consoles have never got a Pokemon adventure game). Also while I have never played Earthbound(that has Ness in it right?) from what im hearing it would also be an awesome game IP to revive. Those are all the immediate game series I can think of (would say Kirby but it got games a few years back on Wii).

    • Luffy

Yoshi Yarn is coming to Wii U, but there is a successor to Yoshi’s Island coming to 3DS (Yoshi’s New Island i think its called)

      • ItzameyaToad

Oh cool! Lol must have got my info wrong when I looked up Yoshi’s Yarn.

  • bizzy gie

I think everybody is getting a kick out of listing games they think no one else knows about.

  • mar laguna

  • Zelda6478

please no HD remakes. New games please

    • Wildcat

A new version of wave race could be super cool especially with the Wiiu. the water effect and physics have never been topped by any other games on any platform. why is this game not on Wii u?

  • Kaihaku

Star Tropics was one of my favorite titles on the NES, I’d love to see it revived and, probably in the minority here, I think I’d enjoy yo-yo motion controls. Walk the dog! Around the world! Baby in the cradle!

Star Fox is also one of my favorites dating back to first demo I played for the SNES game. I don’t really consider the series forgotten but it does need a high quality title to keep the series strong. The Wii U would be perfect for another try at Star Fox 2 / Star Fox Command style gameplay.

Endless Ocean would be great in HD with the Gamepad as an underwater camera. Again, this one isn’t really forgotten. Wave Racer would also be great in HD.

Mario is Missing would be great in HD. I love the idea of Luigi fighting Koopas in real life locations while gathering clues as to where his brother might be held. The gamepad would make for a great detective’s notebook.

    • Guest

Haha. Mario is Missing should make a comeback! It would be great to explore real life locations in HD as Luigi!

    • ItzameyaToad

I agree with the Star Fox comment, it would be great to have another entry. I only hope it is a balance between Flight Missions and ground adventure. I guess it would be fair to say maybe something similar to Skyward Swords ability to go from adventuring on foot to adventuring in the clouds on your bird, though more emphasis should be put on flying missions.I have never heard of Star Tropics though(N64 was my first Nintendo console) will have to look it up as well as Endless Ocean.

      • Kaihaku

Star Tropics was an NES adventure game that took place in the tropics and involved aliens. It took the original Legend of Zelda’s gameplay in a different direction than Link’s Adventure or A Link to the Past.

        • ItzameyaToad

Hmm will have to check it out.

  • Wildcat

    Please get us WAVE RACE

  • papermariodude101

    F-Zero. End of story.

    • Wildcat

F-zero is great but I don’t think it would be a system seller

  • Wildcat

Away from Zelda and Mario what is for you guys the best games ever made on Nintendo

    • Luffy

hmmm. I cant say my absolute best, but my favorites are:

      – Uniracers
      – Wario’s Woods (Snes version)
      – Mario Kart Double Dash
      – Star Tropics
      – Super Metroid
      – Yoshi’s Island

These are my favorite game by nintendo, even including Mario and Zelda (and i love Mario and zelda, but these are just special to me.)

      • Wildcat

With so many franchise, why is Nintendo sticking with Mario and donkey kong? such a waste. and I am sure every nintendo fan would buy a wiiu if a few old favorites were revived

  • Andreas Sunde

Anew F-Zero, madein collaboration between Sega and Nadeo (Trackmania). Do that, and I will give you all of my money.

  • Alvaro CastaΓ±eda

A totally renovated Ocarina of Time in HD would be awesome!! Even Mario 64 could look amazing with so many different worlds. And Please a POKEMON RPG-game in Wii U, even if it is a remake of only the first 150 pokemon would be great!!!!
A POKEMON RED in Wii U totally 3D and HD!!! I could imagine myself all day long playing it!! =)

    • John Raybell

are you confused, they have zelda today and mario and pokemon, do you even understand what is being talked about here????????

Or is this a really really bad joke????

They are talking about bringing back games, not bring back ummmmm what is already out, fuck i even felt like a retard saying that, lol

  • smashbrolink

I’m wondering what some of their more obscure titles are and how THOSE can be brought back.
Everyone wants more reboots of the well-known games, but there’s more than just Zelda, Pokemon, and Mario out there.

  • When

  • Rob Lucci

    Wild Guns for WiiU.

  • iceazeama

monster games should make f zero or even wave race and platinum games starfox. those ones taken care of.

  • nin-10-doughfan

i hope they’re not just saying it to get us exited! remember no metroid and star fox at E3!

    • ItzameyaToad

The problem with what you are saying and what they are saying here is they NEVER said anything about Metroid or Star -Fox prior to E3 so really it was people’s fault if they got too excited for something that wasn’t confirmed by Nintendo at all. Keep in mind too that they are not promising anything here, Reggie is just throwing out the possibility of them making games based on old franchises Nintendo hasn’t touched in awhile.

      • John Raybell

But that’s the issue its just talk, its hype, hype for what, who knows lol. I want to be hyped about what i get to play in the next couple years, not hype about “THE FUTURE” when cars fly lol. get my drift

        • ItzameyaToad

I see what your saying but I think all companies are guilty of hyping things too much lol. I am merely saying people shouldn’t get “too” excited for something that may or may not happen, though I see it happening since Nintendo has been pushing old IP’s out on the 3DS and Wii. Also this would be the perfect time to release games like Star-Fox more so than Metroid seeing as people have been wanting one more than another Metroid for years and it would add that extra BOOM! to the Wii U. Will it happen? IDK best not to get hopes up too high though.

          • John Raybell

Hype is one thing, this kind of hype we have been getting from nintendo after E3 is a different story. It bothers me, its like nintendo has no games, only what we know about for the next couple years, so instead of hyping what we will be playing he pretty much brings up what games we might be playing when the new nintendo console comes out, lol

But yeah i do understand where you are coming from πŸ™‚

  • John Raybell

more hype, hype is good and all but after that last Direct thats all we are getting from them.

Almost bugs me, also instead of saying considering it how about actually do it and tell us what they have plans for, that’s better hype, but this “we might crap”, no way get outta here.

Reboot star tropics,Adventure Island would be awesome.

    Here nintendo get to work!!!

Now instead of saying crap like we might, pick some titles and just do it already :), this might stuff wont happen for at least 4+ years that the issue, what are you doing before that, its nice to hear what you guys might have planned, but what about today, next year, year after that and so on first :).

Hype for the year 2018-2024 isn’t what i want now which is the year 2013!

  • Forbsz

Star-Fox, Super Mario RPG from SNES, Eternal Darkness, Star-tropics please and thank you OH AND EARTHBOUND (even though that will never happen)

  • dM81

It’s definitely time for f-zero to return. The HD treatment could make that game amazing. Especially if they bring in a large online multi-player experience like is seen on COD games. A big room where players can talk smack to each other. Allow customization of the vehicle…that would be epic!

    • oontz

agreed!!! I only hope mario kart 8 has online lobbies and clans!!!

  • dM81

I would like to see a Mega man exclusive for the Wii U. Something built from the ground up for the U, and not ported left over garbage from someone else’s system. Imagine the possibilities! You could change powers on the fly, combine powers. Could also mix up game play by giving a visor option a la Metroid: Other M. This Capcom title needs to come home and stay there. With smash bros. hype alone this would sell exceptionally well.

  • Arthur Jarret

How about New adventures of Lolo?

  • Woodsy

  • Logan Waltz

i want their deal with sega to net them all the classic genesis games on virtual console as well as their older IP’s as wiiu exclusives. i need a new good shinobi U game like the ps2 version. we could use some open world streets of rage U. you know what? i want a proper shining force game. we still don’t have an english shining feather. golden axe U, chakan U. that said, we could really use some less advanced iterations of classic titles. sonic spinball had some really sharp graphics. a high res sequel would look great.

  • Wanderlei

    Wave Race, bitches!

  • Steven Scott

A pokemon game like XD would be nice

  • Leon Tizzano

Staxfor adventures was so amazing, I’d love another game like that

  • Leon Tizzano

Waverace in HD would be sweet too.

  • A SNES Day Off

    Shadowgate and Wave race please.

  • Samuel Mungy

    Make a new IP.

    • John Raybell

that’s neat to, but you underestimate the franchises from nes and snes that need to be rebooted, you just have no idea.

Not talking about the normal nintendo stuff we see now days, talking about games that would make any ps4 xbox one gamer cry. no joke

      • Samuel Mungy

Like F-Zero. If that came out it would be amazing. I just realized that there’s a lot of franchises Nintendo hasn’t gone back to. Like a proper console StarFox, F-Zero, etc. Nintendo should really try to reboot these.

        • John Raybell

nah they need to look further back, there are very very great snes and nes titles that everyone has forgotten, those are the ones that need to rebooted, so they can shine again, i would like a remake for those games you listed buuuuut not any time soon, tired of the same old nintendo games over and over, need something a bit more fresh πŸ™‚

  • wiimenonowiiu

Their are sooooo many uncharted waters new horizon i still play this game on snes, top gear, f-zero, star tropics, dune, star tropics, their are just sooooo many they should bring back

  • Pebbicle

If Rare was still with Nintendo… I would’ve loved a new Conker game <3

    • John Raybell

Yeah will never forgive Nintendo for letting them go :(.

Banjo!Conker!DiddyKongRacing!KillerInstinct!GoldenEye 007! And below for a crap ton more. people have no idea!!!!!!!!!

And to piss people off even more, yes even today years and years later, look at what RARE did for nintendo
Minus those very very few xbox tiles, look at what they did for nintendo!

Whats that? They made nintendo? yeah pretty fucking much, giving these guys up was like cutting off there own balls. OUCH!

      • Pebbicle

Got you there bro… What they are currently doing for Microsoft is nothing compared to the things they did for Nintendo πŸ˜€

        • John Raybell

yep, Rare is doing nothing for them, but that has to do with most of the old Rare devs are gone, doing other projects, some are working on that new game just announced, some are working on a banjo successor some of doing fps games, its crazy.

To bad nintendo let them go, should have just bought them and kept allot of great titles exclusive.

  • Magnus Eriksson

This one was funny. Want to share it with you. XBoxOne vs Kinder chocolate.

    • John Raybell

Whats really funny is that list is broken now πŸ™‚

      xboxone can play games offline.
      Can trade games with friends

Pretty much, the xboxone has the same policy’s as sony now. very very close, think xbox360 same deal, so anything you did with that you can do with this.

One online check when you first get your console, never have to be online after that, can lendborrow games, and used games wont be any different from the xbox,xbox360,ps1,ps2,ps3 πŸ™‚

less for people to cry about now

  • Mario

Guess what everyone! There’s a petition for bringing Kingdom hearts 3 on the WiiU! So if you want this game in this console, go to change.org to sign the petition now!

  • sd

Starfox, F zero, Kid Icarus and Wave Race. Also bring a new RPG that it is old school top down original zelda style.

  • Sindbad

Ice climber 3D world like Mario 64 please

  • John Raybell

For what ever reason, i really don’t like Reggie lol, something about him, freaking alien or something, i don’t know just cant figure out what i don’t like about that guy, but its something that’s forsure.

I wonder how difficult would it be to revive Contra, Double Dragon, or Rygar. Hopefully a better version of Rygar than what we got for the Wii.

    • oontz

since those aren’t “Nintendo” franchises… probably pretty hard!

  • UnknownBane

What about Go! Go! Hypergrind from the Gamecube

  • Smartass2

    F-Zero please

  • Rolando Belber

I wish instead of going back and reviving old IPs I would like to see them create spin-offs of old IPs. From Metroid the other M, make a game based on the Star Troopers. From Star Fox, make a game based on Wolf and his gang as bounty hunters. I can’t think of anything else, but if somebody does come up other spin-offs please reply.

id like to see personally in my opinion either secret of mana or secret of evermore redone for the wii u

  • Gameroy8

old rpg franchises. Secret of mana. illusion of gaia, terranigma, soul blade, add a fourth one to that series. crystal chronicles. im thinking mostly franchises from the golden days of the SNES. perfect dark maybe. 007. diddy kong racing. another donkey kong on the lines of donkey kong 64 (would sell like candy) i’ve heard people say eternal darkness and fatal frame (also would sell like candy). star fox maybe. just go back to any of them really. put some damn games out there already. my wii u is gonna collect dust.

  • XxStoicmonkeyxX

Star Fox, F-Zero, Start Tropics, and Geist would all make excellent Wii u games. These titles need to come out. Especially Star Fox, F-Zero, and Star Tropics they would be system sellers for sure.
