Gamescom is one of the biggest gaming conventions in Europe and Satoru Shibata, the president of Nintendo of Europe gives us a tour of Nintendo’s booth at the show. He shows off several new 3DS games such as A Link Between Worlds and Professor Layton, but we also get a look at Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, and Super Mario 3D World. Are you attending Gamescom? Let us know how you’re enjoying it! local_offer gamescom Nintendo wii u stars Further Reading New Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer and game Super Mario Maker Wii U vs 3DS comparison (vi Get Ocarina of Time on 3DS for only $14 New teaser site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild released How to track NES Classic Mini stock in time for Christmas Indie game Stardew Valley moves from Wii U to disqus_jnx8BgXLZd the 3DS is going so healthy I can’t believe they aren’t putting more money and time on the Wii U so we can get more games at a faster rate Levi Johansen I’m sure they are, but will keep alot secret until the launch of PS4 and X-Bone. They need it to sell well THEN more than NOW… The Clockwork Being It would be funny. a month before alot of big games releases, Nintendo says that some games that weren’t confirmed are. Levi Johansen There was a rumour of a Metroid game from within Nintendo was there not… and mentioning of Star Fox by a small studio that has worked with Nintendo in the past… and didn’t Miyamoto himself say he was busy working on a brand new IP right after the launch of Wii U… – It was also confirmed by someone at Nintendo (i think) that the system supports 3D gaming (with 3D televisions of course), but this was not confirmed properly… but still, if it is true, then a 3D game is in the making for sure. 3rd-party devs could confirm this, but they haven’t so it is likely that the system needs a firmwire update and that the dev consoles does not include this feature…. The same for support of 2 gamepads… We don’t need either of these functions, but maybe they’ll bring it out to show of some more power when PS4 launches. Mohammad Badir I was reminded a bit of the GC when you mentioned that 3D gaming bit. the GameCube apparently had hardware that allowed for 3D gaming with 3D TVs but those were a premium at that time so the idea was scratched. Luigi’s Mansion apparently supported some 3D which could explain why the sequel was released on the 3DS. GBA also had a screen similar to the 3DS that allowed the use of 3D but no game used it because of the GBA’s low resolution which made the effect look bad. man, Nintendo’s one step ahead of us, eh? NintendoMan Mario Kart 8 is supposed to be supportive of two GamePads when it launches. I can see why. Going on the side of a wall with a Wii Remote is REALLY akward. Trust me. It will not support 4-player. Levi Johansen The game will support 4-players. Just noe with 4 gamepads. Infact, it’s likely it will support 5 players, like Nintendo land. Wayne Beck Takes time and resources. The big 3DS push started development over a year ago. The Wii U push started earlier this year. That is why Nintendo has at least one first party title lined up for every month from last month to the foreseeable future. Jack5221 Remember its Nintendo. They take their time to release games because they want them to be good. This isn’t EA here, where they just release half a game for 60$ then require you to buy the rest via 30$ DLCs. Magnus Eriksson They are probably preparing a huge load of remakes, Virtual Console relase of Action 54 and ports from 3 year old 3rd party devs. We will soon see their own 1st party franchises on PS4 and XBOXONE or? http://playeressence.com/microsoft-and-sony-are-closer-to-going-third-party-than-nintendo-lets-get-the-facts-straight/ Nintenjoe82 Interesting article but you could add zeroes to all the figures and the mainstream would still claim Nintendo were doomed before they’d say a word against the loss making gaming companies. Most will be pretty quick to get on the back of Sony and MS if one outsells the other, but Pachter would probably deny MS being in trouble until they went bankrupt. The man gets too much attention. He’s like Drop Dead Fred or ‘It’ and we just have to stop believing in him and he’ll go away like Jack Thompson did. Jason Setley I like Satoru Shibata Sonic Have you heard? Wind Waker HD will have the ability to play in full first person! crocodileman94 Really? Sounds interesting. jay OK to clarify there is a first person mode, but it hasn’t been confirmed if you can play the entire game or swing your sword in first person. Sonic “Enhanced first-person camera Can now have full movement in that perspective Can travel through hallways and shoot arrows like you’re in a FPS” well close… Thomas Fitzgibbon That would make shooting that orb on the back of Snake Puppet Ganon much easier 🙂 Baum 「ツリー」 *Gamescom is the biggest gaming convention in the world 😉 I think it’s pretty cool, that Nintendo’s showing their botths at those conventions for People, who aren’t able to attend 😀 (be it because of time, distance or the BS laws for traveling to the US :P) I’m already looking forward to Reggie’s tour at PAX ^.^ daeglyth Gamescom isn’t in the US, so why would traveling to the US matter? Baum 「ツリー」 PAX, E3? I guess we’ll see booth tours there, too. Thomas Fitzgibbon 3:04 That was a quite a feeble “Wahooh” but it was nonetheless totally awesome! crocodileman94 He will never beat his Phoenix Wright impression. Baum 「ツリー」 I thought that was even better than Reggie’s legendary Quote ^^ crocodileman94 I don’t know about that, but they’re definitely on the same level. NintendoMan “What’s wrong with you?” Best. Line. EVER! Baum 「ツリー」 Shibata’s one of the best CEOs/Major Producers at Nintendo! the only one I like more is Miyamoto 😀 andrewjcole Nice video! Wish I could go to all these conventions. jay Wow never seen anyone more into a game than Luigi. Noah Hood I like the part at 3:04 where Satoru Shibata pops out of the tunnel. xD NintendoMan Satoru Iwata… Satoru Shibata. Seems like Nintendo is namist.
