Nintendo has been playing the slow and steady game with the Wii U for the past few years after the launch stagnation of 2013. The console has finally managed to sell through 10 million units and this year Nintendo recorded its first annual profit this year since 2011. Nintendo likely has software and amiibo to thank for those numbers, however. The Wii U managed to sell 470k consoles over the past three months, which is down from last year’s figure of 510k in the same period. Still, that number pushes the Wii U over the 10 million sold mark, even if it took Nintendo a whopping 30 months to reach the same ratio Sony managed in less than a year with the PlayStation 4. local_offer Nintendo wii u wii u sales stars Further Reading Switch vs Wii U game case size comparison Miyamoto dismisses the Wii U as a “nece 6 reasons to grab a Nintendo Switch before March 6 reasons to skip the Nintendo Switch for now Nintendo Switch Amazon Pre-Order Watch the Nintendo Switch reveal live!
