Very cool indeed Denvy Not particularly itching to play Double Dragon, but it’s a step up from previous weeks offerings. Bob Wilkerson I hope that means A Link to the Past will come to the US soon too. I have that game on my Wii VC but would pay the $1.50 to have it so I could play it on my gamepad with the gamepad controls. darkcreap They usually do some releases first in North America and then in the EU and viceversa. Do not worry, it will arrive. It is probably that probably Nintendo Europe and Nintendo America work at their own path so different games have different release dates depending on the game. Link to the Past is so popular it would be nonsense to not release it in the USA. They would be allergic to money if they didn’t. Aleks Oh look. Crap for the U.S. again. No wonder WiiU bashing is trending. Virtual Console is deservedly failing. No Link, No Final Fantasy, BUT wait theres an 8bit Double Dragon! I dont give a double *#@* for yet another week. Boo. Jack5221 People are bashing Wii U because of the low sales it has had this year. Has nothing to do with Virtual Console… Aleks Yea right. The dismal Virtual Console selection AFTER OVER A YEAR, has nothing to do the low sales (rolls eyes). Christopher Acuna And if the Virtual Console was living up to it’s potential those low sales might increase because people would be talking about how great it is to play all these classics along side these “next gen” games. It may not be the only reason the bashing is trending, it is definitely one of the reasons. I still <3 my Wii U 🙂 Bob Wilkerson Oh Look! Someone doesn’t like the game released therefore it must be crap to the whole world because of his personal opinion! Aleks Not at all. Just crap to this one very very very frustrated Nintendo fan. Denvy At least it’s a good game, regardless if you want to buy it. Majora’s Mask NC PEOPLE THINK THE WII US KILLER APP IS VC THIS IS WHY THE WII U IS FAILING henriko500 i feel sorry for america. we in europe gets a link to the past while they get another 8-bit game. Denvy There’s nothing wrong with 8 bit games. They aren’t inferior to 16 bit. However, pretty much everything is inferior to ALttP 😉 I am Error. It really is a shame that the Wii U and 3DS eShops aren’t living up to their potential. Granted, I love Double Dragon. Lots of happy childhood memories there and I gladly spent a buck upgrading my Wii version. Look at it this way… the Wii VC sported NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, Master System, TG-16, Neo-Geo, Arcade titles and even Commodore 64 games. The Wii U VC supports NES and SNES. And that’s it. My smartphone, my 5 year-old smartphone, can play N64 games. And SNES games. And my 3DS cannot?! Linking the eShop accounts should give Nintendo a great chance to offer cross-buys. A 3DS owner may find the idea of playing their VC titles on the Wii U appealing… until they learn they have to re-buy them. Doh! So that’s a problem. One title a week, sometimes two, on the VC service, is a real shame. With such a rich library to pull from, not just from NES consoles but from the Sega consoles as well, one title a week isn’t even going to scratch the surface of the awesome retro titles available during the (hopefully) long lifespan of the Wii U. Bashing the game that gets chosen instead while glaring at Europe for getting ALTTP will do nothing. Nintendo can read our Miiverse posts of anger and disappointment. But still, we get Urban Champion and Clu-Clu Land before SMB 3. The best thing we could do isn’t to boycott the VC. Write Nintendo. I do it almost weekly. Do it politely. Be heard. Use the comments section on your Club Nintendo surveys to suggest a better VC service. People like variety. Ideally there would be an NES classic each week posted in addition to an SNES offering, an N64 title, maybe even a Sega classic. The VC has become a source of frustration for retro gamers when it COULD be the Holy Grail of gaming. Rugmouse I agree with you completely. There have been a lot of occurrences where we in the North America region have gotten a good title, while the EU was stuck with some nonsense game. At least Double Dragon is a classic! In terms of how they are handling the Wii U VC – that is where the real problems lie. I remember during the last Nintendo conference call, there was a question brought up about the VC during the Q&A: “While Wii U and Nintendo 3DS already offer Virtual Console software, I feel that we have not been able to take full advantage of our assets yet, so we would like to enrich our Virtual Console lineup.” – Iwata Well, it has been a month, and we are still sticking with the same concept – 1 game released a week, for NES or SNES. That’s your ‘enrichment’ strategy? I will be taking your advice and writing to Nintendo to express my disappointment. Gabe Hoffman Well not everything happens overnight. And there is more that goes into making VC possible than you think. Besides emulation code there is the additional prospect of renewing all the licenses Denvy I’d even be happy to pay a nominal fee to play the VC cross platforms. Say the $1 or $1.50 you pay now to upgrade to play on the Wii U. I would think it has to be done sooner or later. LoBo_UK They should really just have a huge library of 64 games , instead of adding one once in a blue moon like they did with the wii , the library should just be there with all the games they can sell , and let people chose . Arthur Jarret 3DS at least got two fantastic megadrive sterescopic remakes with more customization options than you can shake a dolphin at. I was really positive that nintendo meant to release all games when they announced to release NES and SNES VC after their introductionary promotion – both the drip feed and the standarized pricing make little sense. Toki tori 4 bit original costs 5 bucks on gb color VC (i think), while the HD remake costs only 2. Sega’s stereoscopic genesis remakes are actually cheaper than NES games like urban champions, tennis and donkey kong 3… I really hope miiverse feedback will make them change their stance on how to handle VC Michael Hancock I am Error. Pikachief Nintendo eShop Downloads Europe: A Link to the Past North America: Not A Link to the Past oontz Exactly!!! What is with that?? Jason That’s actually the only thing I took note of from this post haha. Andrew W Garttmeyer AHHHHHHH! OK. I am going to calm down and ask nicely, ‘Why are the US and Europe VC releases different in the first place?’ Knowing that someone will have a sane and making sense answer I will than proceed to say, GIVE THE US A LINE TO THE PAST BEFORE I STAB MY WII U IN THE FACE! Andrew W Garttmeyer Also, why the steady crappy trickle? and GIVE ME A RELEASE SCHEDULE. Tell use what games you guys ARE working on. Jeppers cripes please give us something to look forward to. Only one more week until I am off for 10 days, give me something to look forward to for the Holidays! Guest Why no downloadable Wii Party U on US? Shame! Edit: It’s about time to stop putting these lame VC games on eshop! (US) wober2 I think nintendo is trying to space out their content so not to have a drought, but what it looks like they do not have original content to do that with… I just cannot believe we do not have all of wii vc content in the wiiu eshop yet. juancamiloarq Hell no. Where’s A Link to the Past!? Come on… juancamiloarq Aim your heavy guns at us Nintendo! We want the real stuff you’ve got there!! Come on, how hard is it to have good re-releases on the Wii U VC!?
