This week’s Deals and Downloads for Nintendo are actually pretty good, if you don’t mind purchasing a few physical accessories. For the first time ever, Disney Infinity is completely free on the Wii U eShop, but you’ll need a Disney Infinity figure and a base in order to play the game. I’m not entirely sure that you can find just the base available at a store, but if you can find a good second-hand base and at least one figure, you can experience the magic of Disney Infinity.

Aside from that, several new games are releasing on Wii U this week, including a new Mega Man for virtual console to round out Mega Man August. Check it out and let us know if you’ll be purchasing any of these games!

    • Timothy Mercier

seems like the same crap week after week after week….

  • Fred

Hi ho hi ho off to the pawn shop I go (to get a disney infinity portal although just FYI I hear Xbox ones won’t work with Wii U)

  • palomino blue

Life Force, for those old school masochists out there.

    • thedeciderU

one of the best nes games, and i’m not that into space shoot ’em ups

      • Agent721

This was one me & a bud would play non stop in the late 80s. So many great memories of Life Force…I used to get to the 3rd level without dying, which I can’t come close to doing now…I think 12 year old me would kick 38 year old me any day of the week, gaming wise!

    • RyuNoHadouken

      Brutal difficulty

  • Steamworld Dig might be the only interesting thing here and even this is barely enough for me to turn that console on. yawn.

  • I liked Mega Man 6, it was the first one I ever played.

    • thedeciderU

i think more people need to play it. it almost didn’t come to north america.

      • Really? That’s interesting.
Just found that it’s worth about $40, that would help with steam’s greenlight fee.

  • gerb1977

gonna grab the free Disney…….means I won’t have to swap out the disks when my boys want to play with Infinity. Also Life Force was an awesome game when i was young….might pick it up for nostalgia.

    • Fred

and you might get club nintendo points for it too

      • gerb1977

Hope so…..I was wondering if I would….Guess I will find out tomorrow. Regardless it means I can hide the disc and keep it from being tortured, scratched, bitten and thrown by the 2 year old.

        • Fred

Or you could sell the disc

      • Adrian Brown

According to the CN page you get 80 coins for downloading. The game is 10 GB in case anyone wants to try.

  • Sdudyoy

Decided to check it out, you can buy the infinity portal for 20$ on Amazon, the game looks almost worth it now.

    • Fred

I have a buddy that is a level designer working on DI 2.0 he told me that if you buy the 2.0 starter bundle you can use that base on BOTH games. or Target currently has Disney Infinity on Wii U for $30 I’m probably going to see if Best BUy will price match that.

      • greengecko007

        The original base will also work with the new game. From the Disney Infinity website;

“If you have a physical base from Disney Infinity, it will work for Disney Infinity (2.0 Edition) in most cases. The exception is that the Xbox 360 base only works on Xbox 360, and does not work on Xbox One. Neither of the Xbox or 3DS bases work on other platforms.”

        • Fred

So if I buy a base and download 1.0 today and then I want 2.0 next month will there be a “base owner’s” bundle for $10 less like skylanders does or will 2.0 still be $75 for me?

          • greengecko007

I haven’t seen anything on about a base owners pack, although I honestly don’t follow Disney Infinity news.

  • Geek_Daddy

So the portal is just an RFID reader. I have one for skylanders. Anyone see if that portal will work with the disney games and figures?

  • Carlos Webster
  • greengecko007

WOW! Definitely grabbing Disney Infinity now. The bases are cheap on amazon, and I can buy a few figures I like for cheap too.

  • Agent721

  • McEhret

I picked up lifeforce. Thank god for konami code

  • Iflywright

dang, i thought the disney infinity for free was cool but the base and figurines are pretty hefty cost for what they are. I’m most shocked that you have to buy a ‘base’ as the means for connecting the figurine to the video game–for the longest time I thought skylanders and disney infinity were Amiibos’.

  • Dialated

N64 please nintendo pretty please I really want mario 64, and Zelda oot

  • Fufusio

We also have Fire Emblem on GBA Virtual Console :3

  • bistricky

Disney Infinity for free on the eShop, is a cunning move …. to compete with the upcoming amiibo collection ….. but it won’t stop amiibo from winning the hearts of most Wii U and 3DS gamers.

  • Gootube Suck Ass

Nobody care about shitty disney games anyway …
    I will pass.

  • Meh I was looking forth to Life Force so badly only to learn it isn’t available in Europe instead we got Double Dragon 2 which I allready have on the NES. Fu Nintendo! I’ll check again in a bit maybe E shop wasn’t updated Yesterday evening yet when I checked…

  • Ducked

Actually, if you own Disney Infinity on the Wii, or PS3, then the base will work on the Wii U version.
