According to Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, the company sees a future where each household has several Switch consoles. He told Japanese publication Asahi that the Switch is reasonably priced for what it offers and households could easily have several consoles. But for those households that can’t afford more than one Switch, Kimishima is confident that they will pair that console with the 3DS or the 2DS, which he describes as “relatively cheap”. He added that the 3DS could be a starting point for younger children, who first get the 3DS and then move on to the Switch as they get older. In fact, he likened the 3DS as a way to learn how to play games and “become confident” in playing before moving on to the Switch.
