Yesterday Nintendo announced it would be holding a pre-E3 Nintendo Direct the morning the show floor opens to show off the goods to its fans. A thread on the NeoGAF forums now has some speculation about what we’ll see during that show, so let’s take a look at what’s being speculated. Keep in mind this is 100% rumor so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

1. New Retro project is “an old Nintendo IP no one thought they’d have the guts to make but they finally did it”. Says it’s Star Tropics U.

2. 3D Mario development began after Galaxy 2 on Wii was done and brings together new levels and concepts into a HUGE world. Says one of the debated titles was “Super Mario Retroverse U”.

3. New Zelda is a mid-2015 title at the soonest. Aiming to have the game look like the tech demo from two years ago.

4. Mario Kart U is a souped up Mario Kart 7 with Miiverse integration.

5. Super Smash Bros. 4 will be unveiled with new roster additions, some unveiled during the Direct, some kept a secret.

6. Possible Wii U price cut or ambassador program for early adopters.

7. Both X and Yarn Yoshi will have trailers.

What do you think of these rumors? Let us know in the comments below!

local_offer    E3  Nintendo  nintendo direct  wii u
  • I don’t really trust most of these rumors. The only ones I trust are the obvious ones.

  • Nintedward

To me , they’re all too obvious… Anyone could predict them. Perfectly plausible but obvious.

    • Denvy

Really? Startropics would be a big surprise to me

      • Nintedward

Except for that , I missed that originaly and only read it would be an old IP…

    • D.M.T

Star Tropics is not something anyone could predict so no it’s not obvious

      • Pikachief

Sure they can. They just thought of an old game that isnt super popular and hasnt been done for a long time, then said Retro was making a sequel to it lol. Anyone can do that.

      • Nintedward

I missed it on my first read…. That would be about as unexpected as they come for sure.

      • TassosNoDensetsu

The funny thing is, last year before E3 I had a dream where I saw Retro presenting their new game and it was Star Tropics!

It was amazing, the video started with retro logo, then a yoyo came out of the screen and after STAR TROPICS was written and huge letters, every one was mute with surprise and after the initial shock, some gameplay footage that was AMAZING and then, everyone started cheering!

The next day I told everyone! I couln’t stay still!.

So this would be the greatest thing for me! Star Tropics is SOOOO awesome! ^_^

        • You must have seen the future, cause that all seemed way too elaborate.

          • TassosNoDensetsu

            I hope I did!!!

    • Adrian

      Ur such a Debbie Downer.

    • Colby Ellsworth

I doubt they’d release something as out there as Star Tropics. No one cares about it. Now Earthbound U, on the other hand – people would actually want it, Nintendo hasn’t touched it in years, AND people have been saying they didn’t have the guts to make a sequel.

      • Nintedward

Not to mention Amazon UK listed it and it’s been getting crazy popularity from UK gamers. Nintendo would easily clear the Million mark if they released an Earthbound game , they have nothing to lose.

  • Andrew Cardoza

Nope, I think this is pure speculation.

  • I don’t think MKU ( Mario Kart ) will be a souped up version of MK7 that would be pointless , Nintendo never do the same MK concept twice , so I would be surprised to say the least

    • Adrian

Every time I see MK I think Mortal Kombat. I’m old school like that.

      • incoherent1

You’re not the only one. When I first read MK I had to scroll up because I thought I missed something. Good to know I’m not the only old schooler around here. πŸ™‚

        • Daniel

          Same here!!! πŸ˜€ …

          • Marcel Kleine

whenever I see MK, i think of my initials…

        • Ernie Sanguyo

pretty much everyone know’s MK stand for mortal kombat more than mario kart for sure.

          • makkan

i really like mario but even for me MK stands for Mortal Kombat

      • Link Slayer

yeah I remember when my friends would call me (and not on a cell phone) on my house phone and ask if they could come over an play some MK. Man those were such fun days! I remember my buddy would sneak over at like midnight and come through my window and we would play MK or I would play Zelda Link to the past

        • Link Slayer

now friends dont have to sneak over they can text each other and say hey get online lets play some halo or whatever. I kinda miss the old days lot les convenient but way more fun

        • Adrian

Fatality! Babality! Animality!! FLAWLESS VICTORY! Test your might! Man I loved the movies too.

        • YoG99

Ohh … good old days …

          • Ernie Sanguyo

yeah i remember watching first MK movie at the theater lol.

      • wiiu4life

Yeah Same here I remember my buddy worked at the arcade when that game dropped and he knew all the finishing moves first damn.

    • LonDonE247

ambassadors program? YES FREAKING PLEASE!! in uk the wii-u is being sold for Β£150, and i bought it for over Β£350, talk about a slap in the face for a loyal Nintendo fan, just 6 months later, that’s unacceptable! also the total lack of big first party games, hell pikmin3, wonderful 1o1, should have been released by now, same with rayman, but i feel let down, and also the fact that so far the big third party games, like bioshock infinite, crysis 3, dead space 3, tomb raider, all missed the wii-u, the 3rd party western support is not as good as they made out at E3, just like having EA on stage, and then after buying finding out hardly any ea game would be released on wii-u. i understand its not all Nintendo’s fault, but the first party fail is their fault!

      • incoherent1

The 30 cent VC games have been a quasi-ambassadors program, which has been nice. If they extended that or offered something similar (especially for 64 or GCN games), then I’d be pretty thrilled (although I’m not really expecting it & would be surprised if Nintendo gave out or sold newer games for cheap prices, even on a special).

        • Fred

I agree 30 cents is basically free. So we got offer a bunch of “free” NES and SNES games!

        • Edward

That’s a 30 year anniversary reward, not an ambassador type program. I bought the Wii U first day and hope they offer something like the 3ds got.

          • dasapolis

Well, it won’t be availible to those buying it this fall, so in a way, it is.

      • LoZ4life98

Another ambassador program would be simply amazing. It would be a winning situation for the loyal fans, and the people on the edge for buying a Wii U would have an incentive because the price would be lower.

      • Guest

Truer words have never been said, LonDon.

      • Wren Justin Umlauf

The only reason Tomb Raider wasn’t on Wii U is because they built the PS3 and Xbox versions from the ground up. They said that the game had started development before the Wii U was announced and they thought it would be unfair to Wii U owners to get a crappy port of the game. So they decided it was too late to start development on it. Sounds like a reasonable answer too. Unlike EA’s BS

    • Christopher Acuna

I would love another Double Dash Mario Kart

      • Josiah Parsons

Same here. I can see the second player aiming weapons with the gamepad like Metroid Blast!

        • Aqua Team

    • WiiStation360

I think Mario Kart WIi U will have a track creator. And at least 48 tracks. And missions. It should. It must. It will!

    • FlyingBoat

exactly. nintendo doesnt recycle ideas, apart from true sequels (galaxy 2) and 2d marios. its completely defined by innovation, itd just screw them over to make a souped up version, and they know perfectly well how amazing their games have to be. people wont always be like “ooooo, xbox one, what a stupid console, im getting a wii u”

    • makkan

      haha nice gif πŸ˜€

  • I_I

I’ve a Wii U but if they bundle it with Star Tropics U I would buy another one just for this game

    • pfff

what is this star tropics about!?
Never heard about it and the trailer don’t really show (imo)

      • incoherent1

It started with an old school NES game that was pretty similar to Zelda
(in terms of gameplay, not story). YouTube has some good play-throughs
that’ll give you a good idea. There was a sequel a couple of years later, too, but since then there hasn’t been any new development on it (except bringing it to VC).

      • I_I

it’s a copy of LOZ on the NES but with baseball player instead of Link and it’s crazy and hard search Startropics Nes on youtube you’ll love it

  • Johny

i want to see some BAYONETTA 2 !!! anything ! ..gameplay, cgi trailer…. anything >.>

  • derty

I just hope Mario kart wii u isn’t rushed for the holiday season like MK7 was πŸ™

  • pfff

It’s also rumored, that Bayonetta and the new Mewtuthingy are playable in Smash Bros. Calamity (that’s the rumored title)

    • Guest No. 3

Calamity is a pretty fan sounding name. ._.

  • Kind of disappointed about the Mario Kart U.. I have Mario Kart 7 for my 3DS so I hope that they “soup” it up a lot and add tons of content.

Also the delay to 2015 for Zelda U concerns me.

But like any rumors I will wait and hear it confirmed….

    • Just keep in mind this is all purely rumor. There is absolutely no official confirmation.

      • incoherent1

I’m interested to see if 100YOG weighs in on the IGN sites. I’m sure you’re checking his account even more than I am… πŸ™‚

  • Jon Augustyn

If the new Mario game isn’t called “Super Mario Universe” or something similar ill be upset

    • D.M.T

Not every Nintendo exclusive needs to have ‘U’ in its name. There are already enough games with ‘U’ in it:

      New Super Mario Bros. U
      New Super Luigi U
      Monster Hunter 3 U(ltimate)
Need For Speed Most Wanted U
      Wii Fit U
      Lego City U(ndercover)

I’m not a fan of most games having “U” in them just because the system is called Wii U

      • Denvy

This was also very common for the SNES and the N64. I’m used to it. Lego City Undercover is named such because you actually go undercover. Not because it’s on the Wii U.

  • Stephan Celis

I really hope for new decent pokemon stadium game with the X&Y generation. But I fear it’s unlikely πŸ™

    • I don’t think it’s as unlikely as you think. With X&Y they’ve moved away from sprite based games, which means those graphics and assets could be re-used for the console version with minimal touching up.

      • Stephan Celis

        You gave me little hope:)

    • Adrian

      screw PokΓ©mon Stadium, I want PokΓ©mon RPG!

      • gimpcell

I just want to be Ash all over again.

        • Adrian

          I think you mean “Red”.

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Ohhhhh boy!!!! If they manage to make a Zelda like the tech demo……

    • AkaLink77

      !!! πŸ˜€ !!!

      • Gabcormier

Mine’s not. How can a body be ready for such a marvelous glorious masterpiece like a Zelda HD game?

      • Nintendofreak

reggie is now more famous than mario

    • Sidney Majurie

I just want Mario Paint. Can u imagine the Miiverse drawings from that game πŸ˜€

    • Suraj Alexander

I got a feeling that GTA V might be announced for the Wii U during the E3 time. Reggie said it was very likely that GTA V would come on the Wii U. He sounded very confident. Even Rockstar said they would consider GTA V on the Wii U. Hopefully they will have Wii U exclusive features.

      • Isaac Serious

Hopefully they’ll have a Wii U version because not only would we get off-tvplay but R* games would surely implement the best minigames with the WiiU gamepad. There’s Miiverse for posting hilarious screenshots and finding other players, some motion control, there’s just so many possibilities. Also that would explain the delay but if it’s announced for Wii U, it might be three new versions for all three of the next gen consoles.

    • Billy_Perry

The Wii U Zelda will not be in the same graphical style as the demo they showed off. This is because the demo was a upscaled version of TP’s graphical style, and they have already said that the new Zelda game will not be in a style that they have done before, it will look like something completely new and different.
Also, I doubt it will be in 2015, I think they will follow the same release pattern as they followed with Skyward Sword. I.E. annouce it this year, with a short reveal trailer, then the next E3 have a gameplay demonstration and trailer, with it playable on the show floor, then release it the following fall. That is what happened with Skyward Sword and I think it will happen again.

Just my thoughts on the rumours about zelda. πŸ™‚

      • Pikachief

I believe they said it would be similar to the skyward sword style. But they also said after motion controls they wouldnt go back lol so who knows.

Also Miyamoto did say he wanted to shorten time between zelda releases to 3 years, so next fall 2014 seems about right.

      • Isaac Serious

Yeah I agree with you both 2015 does sound a bit off if you ask me. Although considering Nintendo has more than enough games lined up for E3. Plus we’ve yet to see Metroid, Starfox, Kirby, Fire Emblem U, Pokemon U, F-Zero etc.

  • john

If the new Mario games actually turns out to be called “Retroverse” then they should make Mario’s overalls red and shirt blue like the old games. But I think that name is lame to be honest. I think “Universe” (emphasis on the U) would be both a cool name that would emphasize that it’s for the Wii U

  • Adrian

    X needs a release date

  • Super Buu

5 and 7 are the most likely.

  • PS4/WiiU

I don’t beleive this at all. These things are all way too simple. I think Nintendo would try wayyyyyy harder than to just do a souped up mario kart 7 with miiverse integration. Plus, with Namco Bandai inside the development team in super smash 4, there would be wayy more than just an addition of maps and characters. Miyamoto did say that he would add plenty of new things in this new super smash.

    • MTGSWE

Sakurai man, not Miyamoto. Miyamoto has nothing to do with smash bros πŸ˜›

      • PS4/WiiU

Oh yeah, my bad. I know its Sakurai, I just mistyped

        • MTGSWE

          It’s cool. πŸ˜€

  • Clel

    Yay! Yarn Yoshi trailer.

  • Pikachief

    1) never played a star tropics game (dont really know what that is) so that’ll be interesting!!

    2) idk about “Retroverse” but i could see it going from wii -> wii U in development stages. That happens aaalll the time.

    3) I’m pretty sure they already confirmed that the new zelda won’t look like the tech demo. Also i dont think any zelda has looked like the tech demo. Remember Space World? Also if Nintendo announces mid-2015, you can expect it in november. Lol

    4) Mario Kart 7 U would be cool as i really liked that game, but they usually try a fresh new idea with every iteration.

    5) they’ll probably only reveal a handfull of smash characters at first. Possibly even just 4 or 5.

    6) would be nice!!

    7) That’s expected.

These pridictions really sound like anyone couldve made these up. :/

Ashley King, what’s your “Nintendorect” predictions??

    • RyuNoHadouken

it created and defined the “Action-rpg” genre….its a masterpiece!!

  • Alexander Kleinwechter

Wait a minute, i think i heard from this site that a space type kind of game shall be released on the wii u, i dont remember what its called, but i saw this on this site before the wii u launch, somebody knows what i mean

  • Tyler Hilton

id like to see some kind of achievement system , perhaps one your able to turn off if you dont want them , and options to hide other peoples so you dont get constant notifications

  • Alex Damman

    nintendo… please… metroid prime 4… i beg of you…

  • ludist210

I believe the last three. The first four don’t sound right (especially the first one).

The system needs a price cut and an ambassador program like the 3DS got. Once the price cut (and strong software hit the platform), it took off. I think the same could (and likely will) happen with the Wii U.

  • Einar

I don’t like the sound of the new Mario Kart, I’d like a different art style for Zelda and I’m super hyped for more 3D Mario news πŸ™‚

  • RyuNoHadouken

im down with the ambassador program

  • Dylan

These aren’t rumors. They’re SPECULATION. These people have apsolutely no inside knowlege.

  • WarioForever

I like those rumors. IMO, they are best! I hope it comes true.

  • JuleyJules

The ambassador program/price drop would really help Nintendo! As for Retro’s project I have no idea what Star Tropics is and have never personally played Metroid. However, one thing I do know is that Metroid is extremely popular and a new HD Metroid would go along way to get people buying a Wii U – especially important would be a fall release date! I know many people who loved the Metroid Prime Trilogy and I’d love to try it out. Metroid Prime 4 would be great as well as an HD Collection of the Prime Trilogy (this could be later on though so the new one is out first)!

  • Fred

Wait, a trailer of X? Dang I was hoping it was closer to being done. Real disappointment now. Thanks for the warning.

    • Guest No. 3

You realize trailers can come out as frequently as launch day, right? XD

      • Fred

Yes, but usually if it’s going to be released during the year they have a playable demo at E3

  • AAAkabob

    Kinda weak imo.

Edit: Actually nvm, they brought every big gun they have to E3 lol

    • Michael Jurado

      damn right nvm

  • ByteManNeo

    My thoughts:

    1) Star Tropics 2 would be awesome, but it’d need to be a TOTAL BLOCKBUSTER in order to get me behind it.

    2) I can wait on the Zelda. If they are trying for the tech demo, SOLD.

    3) Another Ambassador program to me feels unnecessary, but would be welcome.

    • QuizmasterBos

      1) Startropics 2 already exists. It was a direct sequel for the NES.

      2) Aonuma stated that he wanted the game to be done in about 3 years, if possible. Unless the prospects change, I’m still sticking with a late 2014 release. Of course, if the game will need more work, then please do. Miyamoto said it best: “A delayed game will be eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever”.

      3) An ambassador program would be VERY necessary. If the Wii U ends up getting a worldwide price cut, then what about all those people that bought one for 350 when it was first released? I hope they’ll put GC games on there though. A library of NES games wouldn’t help me out (I’m in the PAL region, so I’d get a lesser game).

      4) Yes! I agree.

    • Gabriel Dowdy

Ambassador Program very nessacary. Especially if they give us Gamecube games out of the blue.

  • Ivan Hernandez

a nice ambassador program may be giving me $100 or so on the eShop, and let me spend them however I want πŸ˜›

  • bizzy gie

    Mid 2015? Like hell.

Souped up Mario Kart 7? They’re asking for it.

Well I liked most of the rumors.

    • beerkin

i played mk7 to the point of being sick of it. if this is true I wont be getting mku.

      • bizzy gie

Same here. My cartridge just sits in my 3DS most of the time.

      • Russel Bowersox

no two Mario Karts were ever just “souped up” versions of the last, It’s going to be a whole new thing. guaranteed.

    • JuleyJules

I never played MK7 but they need to really go all out with Mario Kart U and not make it a souped up version of anything – as you’ve said! Fans wouldn’t go for that especially when they’re doing that with WW HD.
Would it be a bombshell if they announced another big exclusive or a partnership with some developers or publishers like Nordic Games Group that just got the Darksiders IP among others from the THQ auction?

  • jcnba28

    Ambassador program? Cool πŸ™‚

  • All I want is a good RPG!!! I wish Sega would relaunch Shining Force or Phantasy Star. I doubt we will get Dragon Age or the next Skyrim. Please at least give us some classic RPGs for the virtual console.

    • Guest No. 3

If it interests you, Monolithsoft (the people behind X) are HUGE admirers of Bethesda. In fact, the main developer for X said that they’re actually trying to make a game that rivals Skyrim. Will this happen? Unknown. But more than once the developers have expressed sad feelings towards JRPGs and praise for Western games (mainly Skyrim).

  • Nintendo4life

I really hope for metroid or star fox

  • Jon

News about stuff that gets us all excited πŸ˜€

    QUEUE Knowledgeiswhatsup!!!

  • Desend

Star Tropics + X would be amazing, I wouldn’t need another game for quite some time. Well depending on how awesome they make another Star Tropics.

  • Andrew

I think if Zelda is out that far, we won’t see any of it.

  • I’m definitely down for another Ambassador Program. I use my WiiU a lot more than my 3DS. I have a ton of eShop Content on my WiiU and only a couple demos on my 3DS.

  • beerkin

kinda dissapoonting rumors. here is hoping they are false. no metroid……souped up MK7, no thanks I put too many hrs on that game already, Zelda still two years out……

    • I agree with you for the most part, but a lot of this DOES sound completely made up to me. Star Tropics U??? Anyway, what else could you expect in regards to a new Zelda game? Skyward Sword wasn’t that long ago, and Wind Waker HD is coming out this year… 2014 would be asking a lot. Chin up, things will look a lot brighter on the other side of E3.

      • beerkin

the no metroid is the big one for me. i was certain retro was working on an hd metroid. oh well. gonna be a great memorial day weekend. i might go outside if I can pry myself from DKCR3D, LEGO city, Super Metroid, and Luigis Mansion2.

  • Nintendofreak

i dont really give a shit about ambassador thing just give me something to buy

  • $41809923

hopefully i will see a battalion wars 3 for the wii u and a star fox game

  • $41809923

ware was star wars? it is coming to the wii u

  • Silent

Please Retro, Just give us Metroid Prime, would ya?

  • TassosNoDensetsu

Star Tropics!!!! I had a dream last year before E3 that this was what retro was working on!!!! ^_^

  • Jeff Hunter

ambassador program would be nice, being rewarded for buying the system early on πŸ˜€

  • Dahui

    1. I doubt it. I’m pretty sure they’ll be working on another Metroid game (probably not prime). Although, I’m hoping for a new Kid Icarus game by them.

    2. I don’t like the ‘Retroverse’ title… It sounds like another 2D title (nothing wrong with that, but we just had one).

    3. My guess, Zelda will be coming out for the 2014 holidays. Since the sales have been lower than expected, they’d want to push this game a little faster.

    4. I never did play the MK7, so I wouldn’t mind. But, I would like them to be more innovated than that.

    5. Super excited for Smash Bros.

    6. Doubt it. While it did boost the 3DS sales, I think it was good games that made the difference. However, I wouldn’t mind an ambassador’s program…

    7. I’m interested.

I do believe this is merely speculation. Some of the things might be true, but that will be just by coincidence. I’m started to get hyped, but I also don’t want to get too excited. I remember what happened last year…

  • Jamal Brown

wot the hell is an old Nintendo ip

  • uPadWatcher

If the Zelda U rumor (including the tech demo that was displayed two years ago) is true, this could be the most epic game changer that Nintendo will be delivered two years from now.

  • Ony

    So, not Metroid?
I’m not interested in Nintendo anymore. Brb I have to hang myself <3

    • uPadWatcher

      Failed attempt at trolling much?

      • Ony

        No, really, if it’s not Metroid, that would depress me as much as if I find my cat dead at home. And god, I love my cat so much ;_;

        • beerkin

hahaha. im already feeling a little blue bout the rumors. no metroid would be a huge blow to my general well being.

  • $41809923

i heard that mku will have sonic characters its sega third sonic game and heard that mku is being made by sega its like all star racing

  • Cameron

I want to know what retro studios has got. After Metroid Prime 3 and DK Country they started a project to be unveiled soon. If it’s a new metroid that’d sell some on the console.

  • scarlet

    I hope #6 becomes true!

  • OMG! Star tropics was such a fun game back in the day! That would be AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Moshugaani

    Sounds made up stuff.

  • Nookling

Mario Kart one seems very unlikely to me. Mario Kart is one of Nintendo’s system sellers as it was one of the most popular for Wii. Nintendo knows that if they make a new Mario Kart U it will sell systems and I don’t think they would want to miss that. They wouldn’t be skipping this console of a new Mario Kart! (only one per console)

  • Lusunup

2015?? oh my thats a long time.. but then again this is a rumor and i hope its not true DX

    • Guest No. 3

      I’ve heard mid 2014.

      • I was hoping that it would come on or before the holiday season 2014. I don’t want it rushed as I am hoping this will be the Zelda game that changes Zelda games forever.

        • Guest No. 3

I’m pretty sure any Zelda game that looked like that Tech Demo would raise a few eyebrows.

  • Streakin-Cobra

    Plz announce GTA V!!!!

  • DereX

When you open up PSN, you can search any old game and its most likely there… (crash bandicoot, twisted metal, tekken)….. When you search Nintendos eshop(even on wii), there is nothing there that lured me to begin with. No bubble bubble from nes…. No pokemon from gameboy color…. No old school zelda games…. No medabots… Instead, the rumor is star tropics (wtf is star tropics?)…..

  • Squid

Looking forward to a price cut πŸ™‚

If this is true, that is.

    • Cerus98

Really isn’t needed since its already sold at a (minor) loss. Since the price difference between basic and deluxe isn’t enough to warrant all the extras you get with the deluxe I’d imagine its the one being sold at a loss and therefore at an already reduced price over what it should be.

      • Steve

But it will be a bigger loss if the console does not sell. To be honest, its the 3DS dilemma part 2.

        • Guest No. 3

The Wii U will be cheaper then PS4/Xbone, and while I’m sure everyone enjoyed the 3DS price drop I don’t think that had entirely everything to do with sales soaring.

5th: No shit…maybe we will get Smash Bros Dojo up and running again…
6th: NO PRICE CUT, Wii U Ambassador games should be all Wii U owners able to download the E3 demos that BestBuy will have.

Completely agree about the downloadable E3 demos. I actually thought that was what they were going to say when they first announced it on the Nintendo Direct

  • Nicolas Dorion

β€œan old Nintendo IP no one thought they’d have the guts to make but they finally did it”… that can’t be starfox, because it’s not very old (gamecube gen) and why would they not have the guts to make it? I think that old nintendo IP is………… EarthBound. It just has to be

    • david daniel wharton camacho

the guts to make i believe its true :O!

    • Kyle Crozier

Star Fox has been around since SNES not Gamecube.

      • Nicolas Dorion

I know, I meant it hasn’t been such a long time since there’s been a starfox game. the last real one we had was on gamecube (starfox assault), the most recent starfox game was starfox command on nintendo ds and it was more of a weird strategy game than a space shooter and we recently had starfox 64 3d on 3ds. By it isn’t very old, I was talking about the games themselves, not the serie.

  • Phoenix Maybe

For the new Mario Kart I was kind of hoping of a Double dash sequel. Anyways I don’t think Nintendo should release another Mario Kart 7. I’m not saying I didn’t like MK7, but I want to see something new.

  • Larry Howell

I will be all the fuck over a Star Tropics U.

  • Russel Bowersox

… the last game the “3D Mario” guys did was Super Mario 3D Land, not Galaxy 2.

I’m not sure what “souped up” means… But no two Mario Karts have been the same. Mario Kart U won’t just be Mario Kart 7. It’s going to use the game pad and everything the Wii U can do. It’s going to have a new “thing” as all the rest of them did, such as bikes, two man cars, flying / swimming and all that jazz.

As for smash, I think people are expecting WAY WAY WAAAAAY too much… The game has only been in development for over a year. Brawl took the better part or 4 years. That was ONE game now they’re working on one for the 3DS and Wii U. If we get this game by 2015 I think we would be lucky. The only thing we know we’re getting from smash this year is pictures. JUST pictures. Maybe a little video, but they’re not going to tell much at all about who will be included… I kinda wish we didn’t even know it excited yet to be honest….

    • Smashninja22

Its being developed in less time with twice the team size as namco bandai is working together with Sora (co-developed)

      • Russel Bowersox

That is true… So hopefully it’s sooner then I think. But still TWO amazing games at once, they have a lot of work ahead of them.

  • Old Nintendo IP? I hope it’s not F-Zero, honestly… Wii U has plenty of racing games. We dont need another.

For the love of God, let it be Star Fox

  • Hmm good thing is that it are only rumors because honestly I don’t take them with a grain of salt but with a whole bag of salt… πŸ˜›

    For me first of All:

What the F is Startropics? Is this some kind of game which has only been released in Japan and the US? No seriously I honestly have no clue, never ever heard of it before. I actually had to look it up on YouTube, and when I did I still had no idea what it was, seemed like a mixture of Zelda and Rygar on the NeS.

Second: new Zelda trailer to look like the Tech Demo 2 years ago? Okay sounds plausible, but I deny it as Nintendo has allready clearly stated before that they feel they have hit the soft spot on Zelda Graphics with Skyward Sword Artstyle, and they stated before that the new Zelda will be in the same artstyle, truth be told it’s possible they had a change of heart, and honestly I would PREFER tech demo graphics for Zelda over the Skyward sword graphics. Don’t get me wrong, I love the artstyle of Skyward Sword. But Twillight Princess, Majora’s Mask, Ocarina of Time do Zelda far more justice. In my honest opinion, the more Dark artstyle and realistic artstyle make Zelda look less like a to colorful fairytale, but still feels like a fairytale in gameplay.

Third: For X a new trailer is the one thing I do think is very much possible, first trailer of Xenoblade Chronicles was released in 2009 and it took two more years before the game was actually released and the game was in development since 2007, so yes sounds very fair and truthful, new trailer and a release for X in 2014 as the game has been in development since 2010 according several sources.
Fourth: The remaining rumors sound fair enough in my opinion as well, except the Mario kart Rumor, I think that is 100% not true, not the way the rumors spread atleast. So I’m somewhat looking forward and are somewhat hyped for June 11th 2013.

Well that’s my two cents at least πŸ™‚

  • 00EpicGamer00

“New Zelda is a mid-2015 title at the soonest. Aiming to have the game look like the tech demo from two years ago.”

Holy sweet mother of god! I love you Nintendo! I absolutely LOVED the tech demo. It was so beautiful πŸ˜€

  • MetroidZero

For those who love hearing RUMORS (again, Rumors!) check out this link and picture about SSB4:

    • Sounds incredibly unlikely.

    • XelaFury

Pacman will obviously be in SSB4.

    • MujuraNoKamen

Sounds cool, let’s hope there’s some truth in this. Since Namco are co-developing, I hoped Pac-Man would feature. But I’m not sure what to think of Palutena AND Pit appearing, Pit is fine but Palutena isn’t exactly as iconic as other characters and 2 characters from the same [smaller] franchise seems a bit much. It wouldn’t bother me so much but they’ve said they won’t have as many characters this time round. Anyway great to hear Sonic might be in it again (no word on Snake? oh…) and I really want Shulk to be in it. There’s so many who deserve a place in SSB but not all will fit in 1 game so I hope they do DLC characters after launch so we can get as many characters as possible! It would also be cool to see Bayonetta or someone fromW101 make it in.
Anyway, these are just rumours right now so we’ll just have to wait πŸ™‚

  • Leo

I would love a proper sequel for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars made by Square.

  • Nookling

My Idea!!! In next Smash Bros: The Pikmin rep will still be Olimar but Alph, Brittany and Charlie will be in it too! Not as 4 seperate characters but all as one. Similar to how one can change the color of hte characters, when you change Olimar’s it will completely change to Alph, Brittany or Charlie. They would all play the exact same way except different models. Who else think this will work?

    • Sol Ridgeway

I always thought they should do this with all the characters. Like with Sonic, his suits would be Sonic, Metal Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles. The hackers were able to do it, so I hope they can pull of the same thing. I just want more levels that don’t do crazy things.

      • Nookling

I feel like this could work for a TON of the characters. Such as Birdo and Yoshi, Diddy and Dixie, Peach and Daisy, Marth and other Fire Emblem characters. Bowser and Dry Bowser. I wouldn’t want them to combine any characters that are already there of course. And characters such as Toon Zelda and Zelda obviously wouldn’t work very well.

Any speculation about no1?”An old Nintendo IP no one thought they’d have the guts to make but they finally did it”. Could it be KILLER INSTINCT?I hope YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • KingKKrupps

Nah it won’t be I bet – I’m sure its owned by microsoft now after they bought Rare in 2002

  • DemonRoach

Mid 2015? lol If so, then Nintendo is gone. I would expect the new zelda in 2014. It does not take 4 years to develop a game.

    • Smashninja22

You know the last few console Zelda games all took 4-5 years. And their all polished to a shine. I don’t think you’d ever find glitches unless you look for them

      • DemonRoach

I hope you don’t actually believe those lies. They just want you to think they are polishing the game for 3 years.

        • Smashninja22

They do polish them for about 2 years changing things around improvements in design, fixing errors. I trust Nintendo and they said SS was 3 years in development and 2 years polishing it off. Compare it to Skyrim which only took 3 years and you see it much more polished

          • KingKKrupps

SS still had a catastrophic glitch where if you did the Temple of Time dungeon (Lanaryu Desert) in the incorrect order then the game would ‘break’

SS takes about 20 hours to finish, Skyrim about 200+ hours – apples and oranges my friend – just saying…

          • Smashninja22

I’ve spent over 80 hours on the game. There’s stuff to do besides the main story. I don’t believe those hours come from many many carefully crafted dungeons rather just a lot of sidequests, dialoque and stuff to collect. Also its an RPG time can be wasted up by the player themselves having to grind

          • Lassassino

Skyrim is a shit garbage game dont sit there and pretend it takes that much time to complete the game. it takes an average gamer MAYBE 25 – 30 hours playing it decently. Skyrim skipping everything except the main story was beaten in 2 hours and 16 mins with NO CHEATS LOL WTF? that game should have taken 6 months to develope. Fastest even Wind Waker could be beaten was 5 hours and that was WITH GLITCHING. FUCK SKYRIM

“Team rep Jeff Browne to the end credits. Bernstein’s final time was a
lightning-fast 2:16:10 – twenty seconds faster than Browne’s effort. The
speed run competition was held to celebrate Skyrim’s imminent
launch and cheats were not allowed. Bernstein, who can be seen basking
in the august rays of victory above, received a small trophy for his
troubles as well as a pie of his choice, baked by director Todd Howard.”

          • KingKKrupps

Who was talking about Wind Waker, fanboy?
Just settle down and put your pants back on. I was simply making a point that a huge varied sandbox type RPG has much more elements to potentially glitch than the relatively scripted RPG Zelda SS.

Personally I think Zelda >> Skyrim (the latter of which I will concede, was rushed to release particularly on the PS3 having it’s own far worse game breaking glitch -but it is a bigger and more complex game than SS)

          • Lassassino

do you have a mental disability? dont try down playing this all of a sudden you just said “apples and oranges SS takes 20 hours skyrim takes 200 hours” you’re trying to sway facts and numbers then you get called out on it and its OOHHH CALM DOWN FAN BOY. no fuck no i will continue skyrim isnt all that great

          • KingKKrupps

Yes you found out my secret. Well done.

Continue, by all means please…. *motions over to the area marked “fanboys only”

  • KingKKrupps

    Golden Sun U please….

    • TUbEStAR

      Yesssss! I wish.

  • Bob Singh

Do they have to put U after everything?

    • KingKKrupps

It was cool when it was 64 was it not?

      • Bob Singh

        Yes but times have changed

      • Scott Duperree

It was cool on Super Nintendo when they put Super before everything, by the N64 it was already getting lame. The games were great though, so it didn’t matter.

  • Here’s my idea:

Retro has been working tirelessly for the last four years developing Elite Beat Agents 2, making an open world rhythm game with online support and community editing tools.

    3. New Zelda is a mid-2015 title at the soonest.

    WHAAAT!? Source?

    • Freez0

Well don’t expect the game to come out soon, this is suppose to be one of the biggest Zelda titles to this date.

      • ICHI

Yeah it won’t be out soon but how many (new) zelda games are released mid year? Usually they are Christmas system sellers.

    • To be fair, there has been a LOT of zelda happening the last two years. I’d be more than okay with a little break – and the 3DS title seems like more than enough.

      • discuss

        I have a Wii U πŸ™
Taking a break is simple, you just don’t buy it.

    • stratisifre

well, i highly doubt that we’re getting a wii u zelda soon purely based on the fact that we’re getting windwaker hd on the wii u this year. last time they made a remake of a zelda game on a consoel, (ocarina of time 3d) it takes them about two years after to release a full fledged new zelda (a link to the past 2)

      • discuss

To be honest I was thinking the same thing. However I completed the Windwaker about 10 times so I was really looking forward to playing a new zelda.

        • stratisifre

i fell terrible about this, but i’ve only played through the game once. i never actually owned the game and borrowed it from my friend a long time ago and never played it again lol. can’t wait to play the wii u version personally, but i can totally see where you’re coming from.

    • Christopher Westcott

What exactly is an ambassador program?

  • Kireita

    1. i’m doubtful on that one since other rumors stated they are making a futuristic FPS
    2. Nintendo never sleeps when releasing new content , they just keep going forward
    3. zelda has always been a title that takes the longest development time since all off them have a unique and satisfaying stiry so it will be worth waiting for, and that waiting time could be true.
    4. i don’t think that’s true since Nintendo always does something new with mariokart
    5. same as what they did with the other 2 games so i don’t doubt that
    6. Nintendo is being generous lately and is rewarding patient Nintendo fans so this could be true.
7.with some footage already been done i think well get more than trailers

generally i think these rumors are just logical thinking since this can actually be taken from their Nintendo directs i mean nintendo never fails to deliver a mario, zelda, starfox, metriod, smashbros and mariokart. what i want is for them to either use a really old IP as the suposed rumor #1 or a completely new one… dont get me wrong i love me some 1st party nintendo titles and i will probably own them all. but its time for nintendo to take some risks or at least expand their horizon since they have HD capabilities and all the motion controls dominated… but thas just me thinking out loud XD.

I’m sorry Microsoft but you are gonna lose this console war Nintendo is ready to do this their in the HD era smash bros is coming mariokart is coming Nintendo was made for families and YOU Nintendo may have lost in the ending of 2012 but this year Nintendo will dominate they well dominate summer and they will dominate the holiday season Nintendo isn’t trying to fight against Sony and Microsoft Nintendo isn’t even trying and if they were you guys would have lost already because Nintendo started great and there gonna keep on going until the end Nintendo is just one of those company’s who doesn’t give up easily they made great games from the start and they are gonna keep on doing it

    • Smashninja22

Nintendo shifts there work forces around so They could have a small group in Tokyo EAD working on a smaller(porable) game while the majority of the members work on a bigger title. thats what they did when shifting focus from Spirit tracks to Skyward Sword

  • Ghost Nappa

A new Star Tropics? My dreams that I’ve had since I was a kid might come true. =D

  • noel

Wasnt there a “rumor” that nintendo was developing a new wii U?? With revamped hardware to match the ps4 & X1??? Idk, if nintendo does come out with a newer system i’ll be upset!

    • Christopher Acuna

That would be unlikely. They just need to push the WiiU to the limit. Or perhaps give a shorter cycle then the Wii.

    • Petri

      Yes, very unlikely.
I dont know if Nintendo playing catch spec wise is a good plan, but its a smart plan.

MS and Sony pushing hardware limits, result in the RROD’s and YLOD’s.

But when ever they do release a new console, they better not drop the gamepad.

  • Linskarmo

I’d love all of these except for #4 (I want a completely new Mario Kart) and I’d like the Zelda a bit sooner than that.

  • Eric Degrechie

Retro better be making Metroid and not fucking Star Tropics. I don’t even remember what that game was like, but I know I don’t care enough about it to sacrifice a new Metroid for it.

    Shall We Begin

  • Christopher Westcott

I’m pretty excited for all of these titles. But what I’m most excited to see is how Nintendo leverages the Miiverse to make gaming more social for those of us who don’t have a large family or group of friends that sit around the TV with us. I’d love to see a partnership with Google+ or Twitter for the Miiverse, and I’d like to see how I can seamlessly play with or against other people in real time.

    We’ll see!

  • Leo

Imagine if they can reboot the Star Tropic series like they did with Zelda OOT

  • Ice Climbers

Since this E3 Nintendo Direct will be focusing on Wii U games throughout the rest of the year and beyond, there will be a lot shown.

3D Mario, Mario Kart, Wind Waker HD, Yarn Yoshi, Bayonetta 2, Monolith’s X, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Watch Dogs, Rayman Legends, Batman Arkham Origins, AC4: Black Flag, Smash Bros 4, Retro’s Project, a new Zelda game, possibly the 3rd game in the Sega partnership, and any surprise announcements.

That’s at LEAST 20 games folks, and that’s just Wii U. Then there’s the 3DS, which has Mario Party, ALttP2, Smash Bros 4, Monster Hunter 4, and several other games. Oh, and Pokemon X/Y, which has its own event.

    MY BODY IS READY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Noel Canales

all lame stupid rumors that i hope are not true. So the best we get out of zelda is something from and E3 demo over three years ago. What gives Nintendo, have you lost it man, get youself together and stop covering your a$$sets. Hangs your balls out there and become great.

  • Ben Kapferer

Actually, I think Mario Kart U will be a home version of Mario Kart Arcade GP DX (which Namco is releasing in arcades this year).
