Today Nintendo announced a new Nintendo Direct themed around Bayonetta 2, which is releasing on October 24 in North America. The event will be broadcast at 3pm PST/6pm EST. Since the Direct is geared around the release of Bayonetta 2, it’s likely we’ll learn some new details about the game, as well as the upcoming release that will include the first Bayonetta as well.

Are you excited?

  • Josh

    Bayonetta announced for SSB? Hopefully!

    • MetroidZero

      That would be somethin’!

    • Jared Lytle

      Don’t get your hopes up…

    • Rich Garriques

That would be a dream come true

    • BrBa

probably. We already have Samus, tho.

  • Dexrobo

Yes! I loved the first and so excited for 2.

  • masterjedi

Yeeehaaaa! (In my Lando Calrissian voice)

  • bistricky

‘Bayonetta 2’ …. the game that got me to buy a Wii U (last year) ….
is finally going to take center stage …..
I already booked off work, for the October 24th weekend, to get my Bayonetta fix.

Looking forward to some ‘new’ surprises in this Nintendo Direct.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      I remember that movie. 🙂

      • masterjedi

It’s a classic movie with some CLASSIC quotes in it. “IIIIIIII want da kniiiiiiife. Pleeeeeeeease.”

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, The Golden Child. One of Eddie Murphy’s best films, before he slid into obscurity. 😛

          • Jonathan Robitaille

This was early in his career actually. His movies went on to earn like 2 billion dollars after this. Pretty good for ‘obscurity’. Coming to America, Boomerang, Nutty Professor, Another 48 hours and all the Shrek movies all came after. fail

          • abe

man i love Coming to America, wasn’t even my first Eddie Murphy film

    • CydeFxt

OMG! The greatest gif ever man! Awesome that you got the weekend off to spend it with the witch herself XD. I’m gonna pre-order it on thursday.

    • darkcreap

Did you play Bayonetta? PS3 or X360?

      • bistricky

        Never played the original Bayonetta.
But knew of it’s 9.5 IGN review and my son loves it (on X360).

Being able to play the ‘remastered Bayonetta’ and ‘Bayonetta 2’ exclusively on the Wii U is a major score.

        • darkcreap

Hmm. In my case it was a friend who played it in PS3 that convinced me to play it. The deal is that I play Bayonetta 1 on PS3 and see how it feels and maybe I will buy for WiiU, since he is a Play Station guy.

        • BrBa

u let your son play this game ?
nice parental job right there, sir …

          • bistricky

LOL … my son (stepson, if you must know) is 17 …. I appreciate the compliment ….

        • Jonathan Robitaille

same here. day one for me

  • YamiryuuZero

It’s finally coming! Can’t wait to see what they’re going to show us now! Probably a round up of what has already been told and then the new stuff!

  • CydeFxt

It’s nice to see that Nintendo is giving this game a Direct. It deserves to be in the lime light.

  • Christian Schoff

I’ve got my alarm set. ^_^

  • Gizmo

WOO!!! The Hype train has departed and isn’t stopping anytime soon!!

  • ActivesiN

Bayonetta 2 Direct, let the hype flow through you!

  • Diz93

This ones not for me, but I’m glad its getting so much attention because I know there a lot of fans out there. Hopefully it’ll convince even more people to buy a Wii U

    • abe

I dont think (like Hyrule Warriors) wont convince people to buy a Wii U but will be one of the very good arguments to buy one

  • We need a Direct that gives us a Smash Bros Wii U release date, and some Bayonetta 2 stuff AND they can let Shin’en reveal those screen shots of Fast Racing Neo since it’s september now, AND a release date for Captain Toad Treasure Tracker!

I’ll watch this Direct, and I’m getting Bayo 2, but honestly I know everything I want to know about the game lol. So I think I’ll find this one a bit boring.

    • Jonathan Robitaille

yeah, they need a Direct before the end of the year that shows some more Zelda and dates announced for some of these games. We’ve seen quite a bit about this game already, though more is always welcome

      • abe

i doubt we’ll see anything of Zelda before E3 2015.
I suspect we’ll see A Smash one after the 3DS launch (no reason to cannibalise sales there. Then in January we’ll get a 3DS one featuring on 2015’s games, Monster Hunter and formally announcing NEW 3DS

  • darkcreap

    Yes, absolutely!!!

  • Trevor

Bayonetta 2 is what got me to buy my Wii U. It’s a day one buy for me. Everyone should buy Bayonetta 2 and support third party games and “mature” games on Wii U.

  • Raymond Anthony Peacock II

Duck hunt dog trailer at the end if the direct =)

    • abe

i can forsee at the end of the direct, you see Bayonetta shoot at a group of flying enemies. All but one fall from the sky and from behind the bushes you can hear laughter and then his face rise above END

  • PrincessKairi

    Now we’re talking!
i hope Nintendo japan have a fatal frame 5 direct before its release too, very keen to learn more about that one

    • Petri

If they would at least confirm the sodding thing to the west.

  • A – Kuma

    #OperationPlatinum …did i do that right?

  • keithmaxx

Hype Train is here! ‹insert obligatory meme gif here›

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

    Let’s go!!

  • A – Kuma

Off topic but it’s something i think i may have just realized while typing in another comment elsewhere.
Nintendo has a plan. At this point i think they’re literally just doing what they can with the Wii U but in the big picture it’s actually irrelevant. I remember a year or two ago reading that they realize the problems the Wii U has caused them, i think this refers to the fact that the Wii was a golden opportunity to get the “casual” audience and it worked like a charm but they tried to carry them over and it fell through. They don’t want to do what sega did so both them and their fans/potential new customers are just patiently waiting for what is to come in the future, maybe 3 or so years from now.
Most may not remember the rumor but there was a huge explostion over some rumored “Nintendo Fusion” console, and the more rumors and “leaks” came out and nintendo actually talked about it briefly but then the hype and rumor died not long after. Personally i got a little too hyped and deep researched all i could but between my findings on that topic and them coming out saying they messed up, they said in a nutshell that their real plans are far ahead of us.
The two recent articles that made me suddenly remember this was Miyamoto calling out the casuals, and this “New 3DS”. Thinking back the vast majority of his games, while “childish” and welcoming in appearance, were never “casual” games. What’s the deal with the “New” 3ds, why do they need it if the 3ds and XL are already very successful now? I think we’re starting to see a glimpse of what’s really going to happen.
Call me crazy if you want, but considering all that has happened recently and what they were saying a year or two ago it’s starting to make sense to me at least.

    • SolarShane13

Makes me wonder if the Fusion was a controlled leak. The new 3DS with the supped up CPU and GPU, and the C-Stick makes me wonder if this is the “bridge”

The only thing I hate about it though is that $0.30 ransom fee. But thinking about it, who seriously wants to browse the net on a 140p screen when their smartphones have 100x the resolution? Hell, I hardly use the Wii U’s internet browser.

      • darkvam

The wii u browser is great. I use all the time. It’s not perfect but I love it.

      • uPadWatcher

I assume the ransom fee is only in Japan since there’s no confirmation here in North America or Europe as of yet.

      • Merry_Blind

The Wii U’s browser is superb for a console. The touch screen for interfaces and typing is very useful and efficient compared to a controller, you have the TV to display videos, and it’s actually pretty fast too! Also, the 3DS screen is 240p, not 140p, in case that wasn’t a typo.

    • BrBa

yes, you’re being a bit of crazy -__- … the new 3DS is just a “sequel” to the DSi.
      That it.

  • Petri

I have been waiting for this so long now.
Going to mark European release date on my calendar.

  • I’m not interested in this game, but I still support it, Nintendo took a (I think) well loved game, and got the company to make a sequel for it exclusively on their console even though the first game was multiplat, not to mention the first game is apparently really hard, and this game is a Mature game, Nintendo should be getting more exclusives like this one, hopefully it will sell well.

  • Please keep this kind of spam of Wii U daily, everyone knows you didn’t actually make that money, I like Wii U daily because the comment section for the most part is spam free, now if you would be kind enough to spam somewhere else.

  • Petri

No European direct… they better not delay it here.

    • abe

we havent had one for a while have we? they’ve all been US timed

      • Petri

Hyrule Warriors had Eu and US.
But yes, usually the timing is more US centric.
Europe gets to watch them late at night or very early at morning.

  • BrBa

Nintendo Direct is the best video games marketing strategy i have ever seen. But their TV commercial department is seriously terrible -__- …

  • BrBa

we should spam #OperationPlatium the shit out of it in the next NintendoDirect. WHO IS WITH ME !!!!

    • Petri

      Wait, what?
I’m sorry, but as far as I understood, that “movement” is not as much about the sales, as its about to getting some exposure to the game.
So why to spam the one place where everyone will already know about the game, or at least soon will know.

How about instead of that, spam somewhere else, and direct people to watch the Direct?

      • Merry_Blind

It IS about the sales though….. however exposure should equal in more sales too.

        • Petri

I don’t know if you watched the videos of the one who started all this.
Since I out of boredom stumbled down there, it did not seem as the “1 million” was as much the point as those who have chosen to tell about the movement has let people understand.
But sure, more people know about the game, the more change of a sales generated.
I did not really think anything past ridiculous of the project, until I saw the videos.
Since the game should sell because its actually a good game, 2 good games in 1 in this case.
And not just so we can “show” Ubisoft something.

          • Merry_Blind

No I did not watch the videos. From what I understood, and that’s actually what WiiUDaily reported too, is that the point of the campaign is to get Bayo 2 to sell 1 million copies. So that tells me the movement is about sales.

But hey, maybe there’s more to it than this, I don’t know.

          • Petri

Who knows, I’m too lazy to do Nintendo’s advertisement, and I’m already set on to the game as soon as it launches, and anything past that wont matter for next 5 years.
I guess my participation will be limited to reminding Miiverse this game is worth buying.

          • Merry_Blind

Yeah I’m definitely getting it too, but besides that I’m not really taking part in that whole #OperationPlatinum thing-y.

  • BrotherDump

  • MujuraNoKamen

Awesome news. Demo please and European launch date.

  • Prizm

Not another Direct dedicated to only one game.

    • Merry_Blind

Why not? I think it’s great. It puts the said game in the spotlight to get hyped. They shared tons of info on Hyrule Warriors to get us excited for the release in less than a month, now it’s Bayonetta 2’s turn to get hyped for its October release (in North America)

  • Des

That’s cool. I never played the first game. So I would love to hear more about the sequel.

    • Venus Adept

Well you’ll get to play it, because it comes with Bayonetta 2.

  • Now, that is a game I’m eagerly waiting for!

I’ve only bought 2 games at launch and this will be the third!

  • Willie The Lucario Master

Time for some cold hard gameplay

  • Moyack

  • Bravyoura

I can’t undrstand why Wii U fans are getting so excited about Bayonetta they do know the original has sold less than 1.5 million copies since it was first released almost 5 years ago on 2 established consoles. Out of the 7 million Wii U owners realistically how many copies can the game sell and will it be enough for a sequel?

    • Merry_Blind

Your comment doesn’t make much sense. What does Wii U fans being excited about the game has to do with how many copies the original sold?

Also, pretty much every single Platinum Games games are known for not selling well despite being considered an absolute blast by both critics and players alike.

We are excited about Bayonetta 2 because it looks awesome, not because of how many copies it’s going to sell…
