CastleStorm developer Zen Studios has announced its DLC entitled From Outcast to Savior is headed to Wii U tomorrow. This is the first of two planned expansions heading to the Wii U version. Features of the new DLC include a brand new faction called the Royal Guard, new environments, a new hero, 20 new battles and plenty of new weapons. There are also new skirmish and survival levels included.

The DLC will be available for $2.99. The second DLC expansion that will be released later this year is The Warrior Queen expansion, but currently there’s no release date set for it.

nice, i like towerdefence games and this one is a blast πŸ˜›

  • For that price I’ll probable try it. I quickly lost interest in castlestorm once I finished the campaigns. This might rekindle my interest.

It’s a great game, but the campaign can get a bit boring after a while. Online is fun if you can find a game. For $3 I might check out the DLC.

  • Fred

I love this game. Yes I’ll buy the DLC tomorrow. I don’t know why nobody talks about this game it’s one of the best indie games I’ve played

    • Noteak

I didnt know it was on the wii u until now… It looks pretty good though.

      • Fred

It is really fun. And for that price, give it a try. Go to best buy and grab a $20 gift card for $16 (they’re on sale this week) and download it.

        • Noteak

Hmmm, I just looked it up on steam and $10 seems a lot better of a price.
Edit: Nvm, I thought you were saying the game was $20 on the wii u.

          • Fred

Oh, no I just wanted to point out that deal of 20% off. It’s only $10 on Wii U.

I have a $10 eshop gift card, and I was split between Earth Bound and Unepic, but should I consider this too?

      • Fred

Absolutely! I can’t speak on Unepic as I haven’t played that one, but I do have Earth Bound. I have enjoyed Earthbound, but I have more fun with this.
If you ever play with others it’s a no-brainer as the multiplayer is tons of fun.
If you only play by yourself it could go either way depending on which types of games you like best.
Castle Storm is a very fun 2D RTS. If you have any questions about it I’ll be happy to answer them.

        • Josiah Parsons

What kind of multiplayer is it? Does it have local, or just online? I’m glad I saw this, because Unepic didn’t look like my kind of game, and EarthBound looked kinda dense.

          • Fred

It has online AND local multiplayer. My wife and I have loved playing the local multiplayer together. One of us watches the TV and the other looks at the Gamepad screen. I’ve tried the online multiplayer too. It works great when you arrange with someone, but it’s hard to find a random match. Local Multiplayer is very fun though.

          • Fred

Let me know when you decide which game to get; I’m interested in hearing about it.
I bought the new DLC last night so I’m hoping the new levels are fun.

          • Josiah Parsons

I ended up with CastleStorm. Sadly, I don’t have a pro controller so I can’t play local multiplayer, but the campaign is fun too.

          • Fred

I’m glad to hear you like the campaign. I ended up buying the DLC. So far I like it to. It doesn’t reinvent the game, but it brings more levels and they start out more challenging (I had to play the first one 4 times to best it)

Barbie_bobomb from Zen also confirmed they were still planning to release the pinball tables other consoles got ages ago.

That’s nice to know too, because the gamepad shape feels better for pinball.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I’ll have to check this game out on Steam. Certainly worth a look.

    • Fred

If you ever do couch multiplayer Wii U is the way to go as you both get your own screen!
My wife and I play against each other and love it

  • darkcreap

Wait, there is a storm in New Castle?????

  • Rodger_Ramjet

Awesome. Very good game and atleast the WiiU indie scene gets it’s fair share of DLC. The 3rd party scene on WiiU thanks to the devs themselves like to unload terrible, lazy, pathetic ports.

    • Fred

This game wasn’t a lazy port, just a late port. As far as I can tell the only thing it’s missing is a demo, but the 2 screens for couch multiplayer is really nice.

Now I’ve finally got DK out the way (it was fucking hard!, in frustration I smoked a lot playing that game), I can finally give this game a go as well as it’s dlc, excellent.

    Works for me
