The original version of Super Mario Bros. 3 released on the Wii U virtual console today, but if you’re looking for something a little bit more new, check out this play through of the upcoming NES Remix 2, which will be released on April 25. The NES Remix series takes classic titles and turns them on their head by offering a unique way to play with these old games.

Aside from this new look at Super Mario Bros. 3, NES Remix 2 will also include the full Super Mario Bros. game that was turned into Super Luigi Bros., where players play as Luigi and go backwards entirely through the while game. The full version of the game is confirmed to have these classic titles as playable:

  • Ice Hockey
  • Wario’s Woods
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Dr. Mario
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Kid Icarus
  • Punch-Out!!
  • Metroid
  • NES Open Tournament Golf
  • Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Will you be picking up NES Remix when it arrives on April 25?

I did’t think i would ever buy this, but it looks really cool perhaps i should give it a try?

    • Magnus Eriksson

Im thinking the same. I want the first one too.

      • shanafan

By owning both, you can unlock a Championship Mode in NES Remix 2

        • thedeciderU

super alpha third strike championship edition turbo? wait…that’s capcom.

      • thedeciderU

i have the first one, and i have to say, the games in nes remix 2 appeal to me much more! i can’t wait to see the kirby stuff. i got an nes in ’89 and never had some of the earlier simpler games (growing up). they are classic, but my favorite nintendo game memories are these (plus smb and excitebike).

        • Magnus Eriksson

Got mine in 86. Never was a fan of Kirby though. Found it too easy and somewhat childish. But I was 14 when it came out so not that strange. And if im correct we had moved on to SNES and Megadrive by then.

          • thedeciderU

i was about 11 when i first played kirby. it was fun and the powers were awesome. i admit, it wasn’t the hardest game, but many kirby games i’ve played have been on the easy side, most recently epic yarn, but it’s still charming and fun. i wish it was a bit harder though…

          • thedeciderU

            megadrive is amazing.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, it is. I dont understand why Nintendo doesnt make a deal with SEGA to release Megadrive (and Saturn+Dreamcast) on Virtual Console. It should really be there.

          • thedeciderU

i think they’d make a lot of money off it, plus it could be (somewhat) exclusive to nintendo consoles. i never had a saturn, and there are still a lot of dreamcast games that i’d sold off i’d like to play again.

      • jjbredesen

Yeah, now i just need fu*king internett on my dam Wii U lol, i have now been forced to hack my neighbors internett to be online because of Telenor….

So now i have no internett on Wii ร™ as the signal is to weak ๐Ÿ™ i really hope its back before MK8 hits.

        • steveb944

I feel your pain, but in the States. I had to get a router extender that passes internet connection through the electrical outlet and set up my router closer to my Wii U that way.

          • jjbredesen

i can’t even do that :(, if i was to that i would need a 100m Ethernet cable, and dig a trench between my house and my neighbors and get him to let me use it……. in other words its not going to happen xD, i am moving to the UK later this summer, so i guess i will just have to survive offline for a couple of months :/

I really enjoy the first one. It is a quick nostalgia fix and great fun. When I actually get to play my Wii U, I usually play 10 mins of Remix before jumping into other games.

    • If you want to see a closer look at the original, you should check out the impressions video I did:

      • thedeciderU

        great videos, keep ’em coming.

      • jjbredesen

Thanks, really great video as always ๐Ÿ˜€

    • CharlesAnderson

Absolutely. No joke: for about 3 weeks the original NES Remix was the most fun I’ve had with games in the past 10 years. It single handedly brought me back into the Nintendo fold. The original games on their own may be easy to pick up and put down 5 minutes later, but this game is all about the challenges, new spins on old games, and beating your best time (and competing with others on Miiverse as well!) It’s really fun, and looking at it as just a collection of microgames is myopic.

  • JB

Day one download for sure! I held off on buying the first one because I was unsure, but I ended up getting a eShop credit as a gift a few months ago and finally caved and don’t regret it a bit!

    • Squid

I mean I got it then I don’t remember which game it was but I didn’t play anymore because if got sunk into it.

  • SmashFinale

    Kid Icarus? Good freaking luck…

  • Capt. Smoker

    Can’t say I’m impressed….

      • Sdudyoy

Not Ben drowned, why is that popular?

        • Commander Raichu

because it is one of the greatest creepypastas to be written and it is very well thought of and very scary

          • Sdudyoy

Ehh, Creepypasta’s are all stupid in my opinion, I guess my problem is I can’t take them seriously, and I don’t scare easy, video game Creepypasta’s are especially dumb to me as there is no way video games can do the stuff they say it did, I just can’t read them seriously, I wish I could but I can’t make myself get scared from story’s video games or movies, as I know that they’re not real.

          • Nicolas Dorion

Yeah but Ben Drowned was special, at least when it came out. Gaming Creepypasta’s has always had only text to tell it’s story, maybe a blury picture if you are lucky. But Ben Drowned had videos and videos of evidence, making the whole story much more credible, or at least much more enjoyable. We know the guy just modded his game but the videos are still creepy as hell. Did you see them?

          • Sdudyoy

Yeah I watched them, and I respected how much work he put into them, but in the end I could tell they where fake, Ben drowned is probably the best video game creepypasta, but as I said before I just can’t make myself scared of them, and that takes away the fun.

          • ETMew2348

            read 1999 ;-;

      • I’ll see your Ben and raise you…
A Weeping Angel. Have fun, don’t blink or you die!

    • David Trail

Have you played NES REMIX? It is awesome.

  • thedeciderU

does anyone know if they updated nes remix to have pro controller support? i guess i’ll have to check when i get home. they really need to.

    • thedeciderU

      it does. sweeet…

    • CharlesAnderson

Yes they did months ago and it was sorely needed.

      • thedeciderU

it should pretty much always be an option.

  • Jon

Can’t wait for this ๐Ÿ™‚ Loved the first one and I’m sure I’ll love this one just as much if not more ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Saul Rivera

Great now I want to play Super Mario Bros 3…..well…time to insert Super Mario All-Stars into my Wii U

  • I haven’t played the first as the games didn’t really appeal to me but Nes-remix two looks far more promising imo, got my nes back in 87 I was like 10 back then and so many fun games back then, seeing them come together in which a lot are my favorites from that time, it’ll be a day obe purchase for me.

  • ETeach

The first one was a blast, so I’m looking forward to this one. Especially since there’ll be more games that were memorable. Pinball and Clu Clu land never really made it into my young NES collection…

  • Tomtom

Not sure why video isn’t in English

  • Skelterz

I’m Going to be the first to come out and say it ”This is off topic”.
But not so long ago myself and a few people who frequent this site often criticised its articles claiming they were readable elsewhere sometimes 2-3 days earlier, But i have to say i’ve slowly started to check the articles again recently and there’s a couple there i’ve not read anywhere else shout outs to the writers and info finders at wii u daily This is my favourite wii u site because of the community so good job on keeping things fresh i’m back to stay i hope.

  • David Trail

This and Mario Kart 8. It is going to be an awesome summer.

  • Jack

    I can’t wait for this!

  • Andy Cadle

Ugh; How God damn awful was the player playing this?? Can’t of been a child of the 80s growing up with this game- Surely anyone who’s played SMB3 knows the layout of the levels with a photographic memory??!! Hell, even my 7 Year old son could of done a better job than this amateur…
