Yesterday we showed an interesting third party Wii U Pro controller, made to resemble the classic SNES controller — at least a part of it. Now we’ve got photos of not just one, but 5 different Wii U Pro controller designs from the still-unknown manufacturer. According to rumors, these controllers will retail at $35, which is $15 cheaper than the official controller from Nintendo. On top of that, the third party Pro controllers are also compatible with Wii games, which the official one from Nintendo is not.

The new third party Wii U Pro controllers are shown in 5 different flavors, including the previously mentioned SNES one. Would you prefer one of these instead of the official controller from Nintendo? Let us know in the comments section!

Wii U pro controllers

  • Djs

doesent matter to mee , ill take the chepest one if it works just the same πŸ˜€

    • Dan

No, 3rd party accessories usually has poor quality πŸ™‚ thats why its cheap,, it has cheap parts,, i only buy it for occassional use such us for visitor use πŸ™‚

      • FireRed

        not all of the time…..

      • barry bumgardner

the 3ds stylus when bought from third parties are rubbish.

all it has to do is touch a screen and yet they still screwed that up.
how crap can you be at your job to not screw up a metal stick!.

        • barry bumgardner

          i meant screw up

      • holden

Well if it’s a snes edition controller it’s a must buy for VC Users.
it doesn’t seem cheap to me. there going to make allot of money with these and 50 bucks is too much money i went ahead and got mine off of amazon you can too or anyone if you like.

    • Asiancake

I’m going get over 9000 controller

      • muhammed

        I understood that reference

      • EponaVsCrimsonLoftwing

you had your controller upside down, it’s only 1006 πŸ˜›

        • kenny marsh

Ugh! Ignorant people thumbing down the TFS reference… DUH F*CK!

    • Zeldatrek fc 3780-9021-0732

I know should just put my comment down on the bottom like a good boy. However, this is just too important to go on the bottom. This is real! The manufacturer is InterWorks Unlimited. And are available for pre-order on Amazon with a release date of Oct. 30. Also free shipping. It can be used for anything from vc to Skyward Sword in addition to WiiU. It appears to charge by USB and is wireless. On the down side no word on battery life or rumble and microphone jack. I can live with wired for long gaming sessions, and I have a bluetooth ear bud that I hope works. But I’ll be sad if the fishing shop guy tells me “Sorry no rumble for WiiU.”

    • barry bumgardner

      i always wanted a snes.
then i got one but it didnt have the power cord πŸ™

      • Fahd Al Zarooni

Oh that sucks, my power cord was broken that I have to twist the wire to make it work lol O_O

  • nintendofreak

i was going to buy d snes looking one anyway

    • Nko Sekirei

      same it looks bad@$$

  • Rouuth

Well if i would Prefer these one is a big question.
I wanna first know from which manufacturer these controlers are and if the quality is acceptable.
The designst r great but im not sure with the quality, so im waiting and wont buy any pro controller to see which is better πŸ™‚

  • DarkNite

Does anyone know where to reserve these or buy them on day one? I like the third one, I want to get that one.

    • seph.t

eb games australia i know have them for pre-order already

  • Tramp962

Good news just keeps on coming and coming…

  • Joseph

If they support wii AND WiiU games, I dont really see why not… Sorry Nintendo πŸ™

  • TheAznKidTvo

  • shroomforce

They look very very nice but I’m afraid the quality isn’t going
as nice. I think I will go for the original one =)

  • Ledreppe

Yes, I would prefer one of these to the official Nintendo one, since they are compatible with Wii games. Will they be available in the UK on launch day though?

  • NavyBlueYoshi

Snake, you mission is to get ALL the controllers!!!!

  • Ninjafish

    They’re pretty πŸ˜€

  • Kahhhhyle

The right stick is still in a weird spot lol what’s the point? I do notice some 360 style triggers on the back though

  • Clem

These are beautiful… I want one of each!

  • EvanescentHero

I like the gold one (matches my Zelda Wii remote), the black one, and the SNES one with the purple buttons.

    • RoboticLink

Lucky… I wanted the gold wiimote but they were all sold out (oh well at least I got the zelda 3ds). But I still want the gold one after I get the nintendo one.

      • EponaVsCrimsonLoftwing

I found out about the zelda 3DS like a month after I got mine and OoT3D. I was so bummed out that I couldn’t get the Zelda one. It looks so sick

  • Luc

If this is well-made and of good quality, IΒ΄m definitely getting this over the nintendo model! And being compatible with Wii games is a huge plus!

  • YawanShimuel

I don’t know if I’m right about this.. but I always thought Nintendo doesn’t allow third partys to use the ‘plus style’ D pad when they make controllers for them.. like it’s one of their trademarks or something o.o
Dunno about any of you but something’s starting to look a little fishy..
Or I could be a right fool! I sure hope so ‘coz that controller looks cool ^.^

    • Sage

it must be affiliated by Nintendo. That happens sometimes. (More oftern with Playstation than Nintendo though.)

  • Seoirse009

If these are only $35 then I will definitely buy a couple. The one with the purple buttons resembles an SNES controller too, does it not?

    • EvanescentHero

    • Nintendo Gamer

      Nobody cares who is first

  • Chris

The SNES and the Golden Pro Controllers are the ones I’m going to get =3

    • Nintendo Gamer

      Of course you do

    • FireRed

      cool story bro

    • AKA-Link77

Keep your stupidity up and youll get banned.

      • Nko Sekirei

i agree that da gammerrrr needs to go bang a cactus

    • Nintendo Gamer

      Yeah, sure u r

    • FireRed

      your mom?

    • EponaVsCrimsonLoftwing

God. Now step off. Didn’t I cast a Hell bound restraining order on you?

    • Nils

      I am your domsday

  • seth

YES! I definitely want that original SNES one. $15 bucks cheaper and works with regular Wii games?!!? Sign me up!

  • pdxmojo81

    Im getting the colorful one!

  • sharks345

I would because I’m poor and compability

  • ThisGuy

I want the purple button one!

    • ThisGuy

      oh yea ….FIRST

  • Armani

Hmmm I would, but I seem to get bad quality with third party accessories πŸ™ I love the design, but I think I’ll stick to the official Nintendo controller.

  • Neo

I hope they are sturdy and not crappy.

  • iLikeWeYOU

    beautiful *sniff* just beautiful

  • mojojojo888

Hey, if they work with Wii games, count me in…now, are these still Australia exclusive, or will the states be seeing these also?

  • Mida

    Same company?

  • t_vo

big savings, especially when you’ll probably be buying 2.

  • Lush05

“On top of that, the third party Pro controllers are also compatible with Wii games, which the official one from Nintendo is not”

Yeah, i’m starting to think these are fake

  • bigha6900

I like is am getting one

  • MysteryMan

There has to be a reason why you are paying $15 less. I would assume that the biggest deal in question is the battery inside these controllers… Do they still get the aforementioned 80 hours of game play on a single charge?

I do like that it is compatible with both the wii and the wii u unlike the Nintendo one. Also I suppose that given the fact these controllers aren’t “Nintendo” name branded, that would create a slight difference in price…

Either way I love the SNES look. Brilliant.

    • Nils

      You sure are the “MYSTERY”man

  • XBox 360

    Nice they

  • Trev

They look awesome but in my experience most third party controllers are not of good quality

  • steven12153

I have already ordered the black controller form nintendo, but now that I know that these work with the Wii games now I might be getting rid of my nintendo controller.

  • SoFLY

No actual package …..no side views or any 3d view points … Same controLler as yesterday all the controllers have the exact same light/reflective effects..
    This means photoshop

    • SoFLY

But being its on amazon I hope its real..ill buy 4

      • Diogozaca

be awared that even the original pro controler canΒ΄t be used on all games. Some need to use the wii remote and nunchuk.

      • D2K

Even if the pictures are shopped they still could be real. Especially if they are still in production. Takes just a couple of minutes to make one image, change the colors, buttons, and text. That way they can advertise the product without actually having the product.

A lot of images we see of object advertising upcoming products are 3D renders. For instance, here is a picture of a project I had to do in my 3D Simulations and Illustrations class using 3DS Max advertising Crayola crayons.

    • PACMAN

maybe 1 or 2 but so many of these are the same.

  • Tubba Blubba

I think I actually like the design of these more than nintendo’s, but I have to see how to they play first, cause it could be a crappy cheap controller that looks cool

  • Nintendo

these better b available in the U.S.!!!

  • D2K

Don’t know if it is or not, but I could easily shop it myself. Not hard to do at all. These particular images might be shopped.

  • nintendoododo

They should make one that looks like gamecube controller

    • eli

      yes yes they should

  • srpg2ishere

Um.. Is It just me? Or did I see the words Wii/Wii U on that thing?! 0-0

  • GoldfishBrother

Great design. I think i would like to buy this cheaper one.

  • tronic307

The Super Famicom style is my fave. I’d give it a try.

  • Owen

I think i might try to mod my Nintendo brand pro controller to look like the SNES ones. Because those two are awesome.

  • NameUcantHate

Im getting the black one. Everyone knows it runs faster.

  • ZeldaFan996

When I first saw this I thought, “oh, they’re just trying to get money from the retro craze; it’s probably a piece of crap”. But since they will play Wii games? You’ll bet your *** I’m getting one of these.

  • Chaseaburger

I’ll take the purple buttons that’s the one I had with my super!

    • bearmon2010

The purple buttons are ugly one.. A color buttons are the sexy one.

  • docthespot

How does it charge? AA batteries needing to be replaced regularly, or will it have a built in rechargable battery? This will make all the difference. Sure I can save $15 on the purchase price, but will spend at least twice that each year in replacing batteries. Or be required at a later date to buy the rechargable battery pack adapter which will end up costing me $15 to $25 anyway.

    • bearmon2010

It will have a built in rechargable battery just like ps3 controller. It will have 80 hours. πŸ™‚

  • Jbaeza

I really like the Super Famicom control, but its not first party, so i won’t get it. Too many bad experiences with third party controllers.

  • Nintenlord

Well is official some 1 is lying about the compatibility of the pro controller,i dont know if this is a classic pro that look like wiiu 1 or is not realy compatible cause not many game where compatible whit the classic

  • Kyle

I’ll actually think of getting one now that I found out they are compatible with Wii games.

  • elbossmx

What keeps me wondering if they’re real is that it says WiiU/Wii.
How would one use one of those on the Wii?
It’ll have the cable to connect it to the Wiimote like the Wii Classic Controller Pro?

  • derty

I would totally get one. That epic classic one with purple and grey buttons just brings me back haha. I will get one for sure. Idk about 4 like the guy above me lol

  • Roedburn

I don’t trust third party controllers after my Nyko Wiimote stopped working after a year and my Gamestop Gcube controller’s c-stick broke off after two.

  • Nintedward .

5 flavours hey ??? do they do white chocolate macadamia ???

    • srpg2ishere

I’m definately getting this instead of the first party now that i found out its compatible with wii.The good thing about third party is they can give you controllers cheaper than the original that supports a STRONG rumble support. I don’t know about the battery though because the regular one was rumored to go 80 hours. Now I can play super smash bros brawl with my wireless pro controller all in the comfort of my underwear while eating my doritos..

      • Nintedward .

I strongly aprove of this comment!

      • Roedburn

They look cool but their cheaper for a reason, they all break down very quickly. I only trust first party controllers.

    • JumpMan

or chocolate chip cookie dough? eh, i’ll just grab a brown marker!

  • redclow

Cool! Hope it’s real, cause it’s cheaper and I can save my money for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and 3DS! πŸ˜€

    • Zeldatrek fc 3780-9021-0732

      It is

  • Volcano

FIFTEEN DOLLARS LESS?! WORKS WITH WII?!! Ok. This is a sure nominant for BEST CONTROLLERS. Face it. Hardcore will ace it

  • srpg2ishere

I’m getting this then I’m getting sonic and all stars racing.

  • Volcano

I mean Hardcore gamers. The best controller apart from Gamepad in town. I will surely get it if it is in the USA!

  • AZHood

The biggest thing for me isn’t the different “flavors” these controllers offer, but the fact that these controllers are compatible with Wii games. If these controllers perform as well as the official Wii U Pro Controller, offer Wii compatibility, and last a good deal of time while costing less, then I may pick up a few!

  • Volcano

I agree with nintendoodoo gamecubes controller is the comfiest. They should definetely make one.

  • Wii U is next gen

I like the all of them but i think i’ll get the snes one

  • ssb43dsFC3007 8585 6950

want dat black one and gold one.

  • bcjuggalo

Personally i dont buy off brand controllers anymore technology just to advanced. They never do as good snd usually break down and buy the real one.

  • Ninjafish

Hopefully they work as well as an official one. If so, I’d save money πŸ˜€

  • ThatBoingGuy

Only pro controllers lately, I wonder if third party manufacturers will make gamepads.

Definitely interested on the North American SNES one and if its true it has Wii support ill will buy it rather than the official.

  • rob lucci

Can you use this controller to play virtual console like the N64 game ect?

  • darkmanext

I want this to be real so bad.If it is i’ll buy 4 day 1

  • Naterman

I like these designs better than the regular one. Sure why not

  • KalebTaylor

I’d have the gold and the SNES look alike controller

  • qwerty

wait.. it says wii u/wii…..will this be wii compatible or is that just a mistake?

    • Zeldatrek fc 3780-9021-0732

No mistake it is fully backwards compatible with Wii with motion + and everything!

  • Shane

Hmmm… It is pretty cool that they are a Pro contonroller, and a Wii VC controller. I doubt that they respond as well, don’t have 80 hr. battery life, and are probablt cheaper overall than the Nintendo Pro Controller. Maybe once I see someone else buy and give a review I’ll check it out, otherwise I’ll stick with the normal Pro controller. I already have 2 classic controller pros anyway, and I bet Nintendo will release a patch for VC capabilities.

  • 007 1/2

i would get the gold one 2 play 007 legends

  • QTF

The third party controllers are compatible with Wii games, and they’re supposedly $15 less than the original Pro controller? DAYUUUUUUM.

  • Your Mom

Yes I would prefer one of these vs nintendos controller

  • FireRed

Hey they are making one like the North American Super Nintendo’s purple with it. nice!

  • Propper big popper

These are fake. Backwards compatible with wii does not make any sense. So that means they are wireless wii controllers. Come on man, everybofy knows you have to plug everything into the wii remote to be wireless. Does anybody else notice they are identical to the official pro controller except for the color variation. So, as much as i would love to cop one of these super looking controllers, i won’t be, but only because they won’t be at my local gamestop, or any other store as a matter of fact. Is it April 1st at wiiudaily?

    • AcesHigh

I’m with you. for all the reasons you stated and I’ve stated in my posts. And mostly… for this simple fact that it just looks like an SNES controller photoshopped onto the new one. No care paid to ergonomics. Definitely a fake.

  • podge79

The snes one is a must buy for me. All i need now is for it to be ligit and a hd version of super tennis n ill be happy as a pig in shit!

  • Propper big popper

On a side note they look nice and if they feel tight and are real, i wil grab a few.

  • podge79

Oh and killer instinct too….god i was good at that game. Orchid all day long

  • bearmon2010

The third is an ugly SNES American version. Ugh! The second and fifth ones look sexy.

  • podge79

One more… Sorry everyone. I forgot about 1080Β°. And yes u guessed it. I. Amazin on that too. Nose grab,180,360,720…1080!!!!! Please nintendo.bring it back

  • name

the buttons on the snes versions look bigger

  • AcesHigh

Yeah, there are a couple people on here thinking logically. This is BS. No manufacturer? What manufacturer would release images of their product without announcing that it’s theirs? And I still think this is a horrible design created by someone with no ergonimics experience whatsoever.

I’ll eat my hat if it ever hits market. But I stand by my comments that this is fiction.

    • Zeldatrek fc 3780-9021-0732

How long did you have that hat? Is it nice and sweaty? Do you want any ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, or mayo to go with that hat?

      • AcesHigh

You seem to be the only one on here pushing these controllers on everyone else’s posts so fervently. If anyone has questions, you reply with, “oh, it definitely will!” or something like that. You either still believe in the Easter Bunny or you’re pretty good with photoshop, eh?

        • Zeldatrek fc 3780-9021-0732

They had questions and I answered to the best of my knowledge that is what these forums are here for so what is wrong with that? And that info is based on the pre-order ad on AmazonUS so it is real and the company makes a good racing pad for the PS3. I do have Corel Paintshop but the best I can do is change a blue shirt to green. And why do did you have to drag the Easter Bunny into this? If anything it should have been The Great Pumpkin! And this year the Great Pumpkin will come a night early and give all the impatient gamers AC3 and for for us nintendo fans this controller. And for you maybe some nice caramel apple topping to go with that hat πŸ˜›

  • pikachu

wii u/ wii ? it works with the wii?

  • MEH

This is a insult to the SNES

  • Jetty

These by far. That white background with black buttons is beautiful. I’d go with both SNES controllers, great to see the American purple SNES controller.

  • Joesatmoes

fap fap fap… lol but those look awesome! ill probably wait until the reviews of these are out, then ill get a pro controller, and deoending on how good it is, ill buy a pro controller.

  • IVIatrix+

    Am I dreaming?

  • Envy

Don’t buy 3rd party controllers. They always suck. Plus, 1st part controllers will keep their value over time and would probably save you more money should you choose to sell it.

  • Alex

For me I don’t like the third party controllers because I used to have one from them in order to save money but then it broke like in next year.

  • Realmatic85

Tell me when they have a microphone jack!!!…Seriously Nintendo what were you thinking not having the pro controller support Wii games or a microphone (smh)

  • Castamere

I think they have a unique appearance, but I’m still getting the official black one on launch day. I do like the colors, though. Perhaps Nintendo can later release different colored Pro controllers in grey or silver with black accents.

  • Amherst

I really, REALLY want that SNES style controller. Probably spent more time gaming on that than any other console to date.

  • Blank

Why didnt they put the start and select buttons in the snes area as well?

    • SteampunkJedi

It looks like they did to me.

  • SteampunkJedi

I’ll get either the Super Famicom-style one or the white one if these are found to be well-built and reliable. So I’ll wait for reviews, but they look very awesome.

  • corbin74

Will it be able to simultaneously use 4 pro controllers and the GamePad at the same time?

  • Bacon

I want a third party wii u pro controller with the button layout of the gamecube controller πŸ˜€

  • AcesHigh

One last thing to prove this is fake. There is no manufacturer out there that will release 5 different SKUs like this for a product that is likely to be priced at $35 on a brand new platform with relatively low sell-through potential compared to the inventory they’d have to maintain to insure supply of each color. The cost to maintain stock and production through the supply chain for each color do not justify the expense.

This and a few other Webzines have been duped. This is a crock.

  • Zeldatrek fc 3780-9021-0732

Oh I’ve had 3rd party controllers my whole gaming life and the only ones that broke on me are for the 2600 (but to be fair I jammed the control stick waay too hard when I was a kid in fact I broke the first party counterparts too) and my Pelican GC controller I got at Sam Goodie. But that was just the plastic on the L thumb stick a small rubber washer and some glue good as new. Just don’t throw or eat with them and they should have a nice long life πŸ™‚

  • HerpDerp

    These are obviously a fake.
    1.They’ve been listed on Amazon
2.They’re being created by a manufacturer who has already sold other products, That have been released, purchased, and rated.

  • Nils

If i buy four of these I would save 60$

  • brain

how could the original one not support wii games? nintendo is going to become greedier than sony…. fuck those drm bullshit, free access to old systems, otherwise we have to crack that thing!
(and that is not what you want… right? πŸ˜‰ )

    • Xenoblade

I would really like for someone to confirm whether the Wii U pro controller is not combatible with Wii games, not the Wii console, but Wii games played on the Wii U. As this makes absolutely no sense. Why offer full backwards compatibility, if the main accessory for Wii U is not compatible. And how are you supposed to play Wii games on Wii U, with friends? Do I really have to buy Wii accessories to play on a brand new console?

The game I am most looking forward to playing is Xenoblade Chronicles, a Wii game. I don’t own a Wii, so, like many others, I’m also looking forward to playing the many games released on the Wii, not just Wii U. But if I can’t play Wii games with Wii U Pro Controller. Well that’s just bullshit.

      • Xenoblade

Also. Forgot to add. Since Xenoblade Chronicles is compatible with the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro. There is no technical reason for it not to be compatible with the Wii U Pro Controller.

      • Ben G

Well this is not a problem for me as i used to own a wii so i just use my classic controllers.

      • Doctors Tardis

No, wii u boots as a wii right now to play wii games. No wii u accessories work with it.Β

  • WarioForever

I’ll take the cheapset one, the European SNES Controller, or even the gold one.

  • Elite

I will probably still get the Nintendo pro, so i can support Nintendo.

  • youtube/KrayAmbition

aww yeah, i’ll prob get this over nintendo’s. i hope the quality is just as great

  • ssb43dsFC3007 8585 6950

they should make a pro controller with a perfect smash bros set up. Left stick near top, above the D-Pad and under the L trigger. Zl Trigger in front or L trigger. Right control stick on the right and in the same spot as GC controller. Buttons in typical Wii U pro controller arrangement. R trigger above those buttons, on the same parallel as Left Trigger,. Zr trigger on same parallel as Zl trigger. The smash setup, done 10 years ago by Nintendo, re thought of by Joseph M.

  • stinkmeaner2345

just preordered the famicom one off of amazon. i also have the black pro controller preordered at gamestop. when i get both of them, i will put them to the test. will try the third party controller on some wii games when i receive it and i will give my opinion on the overall performance of the controller

    • ssb43dsFC3007 8585 6950

cool. make a utube vid on which is better

  • The_fuzz_buzz

Yes I would!!! And also, as a side note….XBOX AIN’T GOT NUTIN’ ON DAT, FOO!!!! I PITY DA XBOX FOO!!!

  • Johnny

I usually prefer getting official Nintendo products rather than third-party ones because the official Nintendo ones feel more high-quality and appropriate for a Nintendo system. But that throwback SNES-themed pro-controller looks so cool and the official first party one looks so… plain and boring.

If the pro controllers will be used for four-player gaming (which I assume they will) then I’d buy one official Nintendo brand and one SNES themed. But I’d also like to see a N64 styled one and maybe one in the style of a NES or gamecube controller so I would be reminded of all the other Nintendo generations while I play.

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

Since this 3rd party Wii U Pro Controller can be used to play Wii games on Wii U I am buying this instead of the official one, yepΒ that’sΒ right, call me a retard O_O

  • i would definetley want one of these

  • Ben G

can these be used to play VC games?

    • Shane Gibbs

I would love to know this as well.

I’m assuming they can as they’re compatible with Wii Mode.
