As 2013 is winding down, it’s getting to be the time when we’ll see awards such as “game of the year” and “studio of the year” being given out. Amazon of Japan has a list of the best-selling games of 2013, and Monster Hunter 4 has come out on top. Below are the top ten best selling games across all platforms:

  1. Monster Hunter 4 (3DS)
  2. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)
  3. Pokémon X (3DS)
  4. Grand Theft Auto V (PS3)
  5. Pokémon Y (3DS)
  6. Dragon Quest VII (3DS)
  7. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle (PS3)
  8. Tomodachi Collection: New Life (3DS)
  9. Yakuza 5 (PS3)
  10. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies (3DS)

As you can see, the 3DS has a lot of hot games right now, though I wonder how high Pokemon would be if the two versions were calculated together instead of separately. Also interesting to note is that no Wii U games made the top ten, though New Super Mario Bros. U made the top 20.

Monster Hunter 4 is a game that has yet to be released in America, but there has been plenty of buzz about the game coming westward.  Capcom themselves have acknowledged the demand of the game. Western fans like myself have been waiting eagerly for this game–and with it’s success in Japan–it’s reasonable to believe our wait could be coming to an end soon.

Are you excited for this game? I know I am!

I wasn’t a fan of the Monster Hunter 3 demo, but I know these games are well loved here in the US. The Wii U needs this game in America, like, now. It’s too bad it won’t make it for Christmas though.

Monster Hunter 3? it is on Wii U in America. I don’t think Monster Hunter 4 is going to be on Wii U.

    • The demo isn’t a good representation of the game…

also, this is a 3DS game, not Wii U πŸ™‚

just keep mocking us japan but we will get that game and when we do well we have a lot of catching up to do

  • I want this so bad! Too bad this is probably June at the earliest for us here in the states. If Capcom is even localizing it.

Capcom seriously does not like money… They’ve abandoned Mega-man, and they won’t bring MH4 to the rest of the world. On top of that, they won’t even make it HD and bring it to Wii U. Even if it wasn’t HD, I’d still buy and play the hell out of it, but still! They’re literally avoiding not one, but TWO untapped gold mines!

    • Don’t worry they’ll compensate for the money they’re throwing away by adding more DLC and micro transactions.

    I want MH4! Today!

I also desperately want Dragon Quest VII (which was released for PS1 in America, but never in europe… grrr…) JoJo’s bizarre adventure (the first one was wonderfully bizarre) and Yakuza 5 for PS3 (I can’t believe we’re seemingly not getting it… stupid Sega – I want to beat up Japanese gangsters with a bicycle and pay too much money to talk with overly frugal women!)
