When Nintendo updated the 3DS for Miiverse and unified accounts, I have to say, I left my Wii U in the dust when it comes to checking the Miiverse. The 3DS felt way more natural and less awkward to control. Now, with this little update, it brings the Wii U up to par with the 3DS and allows for more ease of use when using the Miiverse.

Personally, this control scheme makes a bit more sense and I found it much easier to use and was flipping between posts very quickly. Here’s a look at what’s been changed after this update:

  • The button for reloading is no longer the L Button. From now on, use the Y Button to reload the current page.
  • We’ve added a new feature. When a community is open, you can use the L/R Buttons to quickly move up and down between posts.

L/R Buttons to quickly move up and down feels weird

  • derty

Ya I had no idea there was a reload button xD

    • Mayoo

In a normal system, today, we don’t need a reload button.

  • WiiUisgaming

It is still the same thing. I have to say, I never felt weird or awkward the controls on the Wii U

    • RockieOllie

I found it to be the exact opposite, I found the 3DS version to be a bit awkward.

They aren’t fixing the time on the loading screen, I am eastern and I am showing summer time, not winter time.

But New York time is correct, only my local time isn’t and we are in the same timezone.

WiiU news is so slow that I’ve gotten back into the Atari Jaguar CD homebrew scene…

  • AAAkabob

But the 3DS is so slow though. I prefer my phone

I don’t use the 3DS version that much, I prefer the Wii U or Web version. The 3DS version seems to be slow and choppy. It needs some enhancements and speed improvements. It just loads really slow and the images on there seem really low quality and don’t represent how the game actually looks. It should be like the Wii U version where it loads very quickly and looks more high quality as well as having more features like messaging and friend requests.

I think it’s not only in Miiverse but any 3DS app that you use, it’s the hardware.

True. It can also be the software (OS) the way its programmed. They were able to greatly improve the speed and efficiency of the Wii U by reprogramming the Operating System of the Wii U so it uses less resources. I’m sure they can do the same for the 3DS if they wanted to. Its essentially the difference between Windows Vista and Windows 7, program the code within the OS to make it more stable and to use less resources which in turn will improve efficiency and speed.

There was an update to the Web version as well although they made no mention of it at all. They added Banners with an image of the corresponding game at the top of the Communities like in the Wii U and 3DS versions. It seems like they also added Social Sharing links in posts for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Tumblr. Maybe the sharing links were already there and I never noticed.

It’s minor, but it’s something. Also not awkward.

If you don’t like the controls, you can always use the Miiverse web site instead…
