Miiverse. You all know it, you may or may not love it. In today’s article, I’m going to talk about what I like about Miiverse, what I don’t really like, and what just plain disgusts me.

Author’s note: This article was written before the Miiverse update of 3/19/14, so I won’t be covering any of the changes in that update. Luckily, nothing in this article mentions something they changed! As far as the update goes though, I really like the changes I see! Still no Wara Wara update though.

The Good

zorpix favorite communities

Alright, let’s first state that my overall thoughts on Miiverse are that it’s a great service with a lot to offer. One of the main things I love is how it gives me a place to talk about my favorite games and experiences in communities of people who also share these experiences.

I’ve tried sharing Miiverse posts on Facebook, but they get no attention. However, on Miiverse itself, I get a lot more attention. This is because it’s shared with people who play the same games as I am. It’s a community by gamers, for gamers. I post about getting a cloudy moonshard on Facebook, nobody gets it. I post it in the Monster Hunter community, and I’m instantly congratulated.

Another great thing is its screenshot ability. Not only does it make it super easy to share specific moments that I might not be able to describe by itself. You’ve all seen my posts at the end of my articles. You can go on Miiverse on a PC and view the image in a new tab, allowing you to download it and use it for whatever. They took that feature away for a bit, and now it’s back. So at least they’re aware of how useful a feature it is.

My last good thing to say about it is the existence of a follow feature, as opposed to needing to friend everyone on your activity feed. This way my friend list doesn’t have to get filled with people I don’t know, but I can still have an active activity feed. It seems like such a basic feature since it has been implemented since the beginning of the service, but I could just as easily see it the other way around.

The Bad

My biggest complaint with the service is the way it handles messages. The only way to read your messages is if you go into the Wii U app and check them. There is no notification aside from the Miiverse icon flashing, which happens even if you just get a “yeah”.  I’d at least like the home button to flash or something. Maybe a separate messaging app tied to Wii U Chat that works with games and apps in the background. I’d still like Wii U Chat to work with other apps in the background. As it stands, it’s essentially useless.

Another thing I don’t like is actually something they updated, and this one might be a bit more controversial. I mean, it was a big enough problem for them to update and change it, so I guess some people didn’t like it. But I miss being notified when somebody comments on a post I commented on, regardless of whether or not they’re the orignal poster. It just kills many potential conversations. Maybe it’d be better if you could tag people in comments, that way if someone in the thread wants to directly talk to you, they can.

My final complaint has to do with the WaraWara plaza. Why can I not have the games and apps shown be chosen by me? Could they at least be my favorite communities? Half the things on my plaza aren’t even games. They’re apps I give little to no attention to. The YouTube community has some great art, but I really don’t care. The app itself is awful. The Zelda and Smash communities can go too. I want to see posts from the games I play, not the communities that I don’t even use. They sort of had a “recommended” community thing pop up once or twice, so something may be in the works. As for right now, this needs fixing.

The Ugly

Smash Bros. community. Do you know about the Smash Bros Miiverse community? I kid you not, I saw someone literally begging Sakurai to put his original character in the game. WHAT?! Like, seriously… WHAT?! NO! Get out of here with your character! And people are still requesting ridiculous characters to be added. Like freaking Goku. I have seen countless requests for the DragonBall main character. HOW?! How do people seriously think these things will get in? I… I can’t even keep writing about this. Just go to this tumblr called “Please Sakurai” to see the horror. Please be aware that most of that content will make your brain hurt.

Another ugly thing that I’m sure we’ve all been exposed to is “Yeah begging”. This is where people make posts specifically to generate arbitrary miiverse points called “Yeahs”. Nintendo tried to remedy this by changing the count on your profile to show how many yeahs you’ve given as opposed to how many you’ve received. This has helped a little, but there are still many stupid posts asking for yeahs, or having “contests” where the reward is someone will go and yeah 20 of your posts. I commented on one of those posts telling them not to yeah me, and that I just wanted to take part in the contest. Not even 2 minutes later, and I had 20 notifications, all from one person. That needs to stop. It’s not cute, it’s not funny.

This section might as well have been called “Zorpix hates kids on the internet.” In all honesty, most of these are from kids who don’t know any better, and I probably would have done the same crap at my age if I had this technology. I shouldn’t be too hard on them. But still, if you’re begging a game developer to put your original character in Smash Bros., you’re gonna have a bad time.

My imaginary friends I had as a kid would’ve whooped your imaginary friends though.

I hope you liked my Miiverse analysis! Did I miss anything? Let me know!

Zorpix and Miiverse

In honor of this special Miiverse article, I’m going to do this section a bit differently today. I present to you the main reason I fell in love with Miiverse. Sorry if the image is a tad large, but I wanted to make sure you could read it all! I did not draw anything in these pictures, it was all done with by my friend and some other guy replying to our post.

Post Text: Horses are superior to humans!

New Super Mario Bros U.

all one comic

Honestly, this is my favorite Miiverse interaction to date. Have you had any cool conversations like this? Post it below if you have!

Wrapping up

Thank you very much for reading this article, and I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any suggestions for next week’s topic, any questions about the content I wrote, or just wanna say hey, feel free to sound off below! If you really feel inclined, you can mosey on over to my TwitterFacebook, or Miiverse account. Please don’t feel offended if I don’t respond to friend requests on the Wii U, as I reserve that for people I actually know in real life. I’ll gladly follow back though!

Have a great Spring Break everyone! If you already had it, hope it was great! If yours isn’t for a while yet, hang in there!

  • Hey people! I wrote this article 😀 What do you think of Miiverse? As always, let me know what you thought of the article in reply to this comment, and if you have suggestions for future articles, be sure to sound off!

    • NintendoFan

Haha this reminds me of another post talking about Miiverse.. let me find it

    • Alpha

haha. That smash bros segment was dead accurate. I frequent the smash bros community for stuff from sakurai and to share some ideas and I agree, most of these posts are absurd posts. To sum it all up: “Add Goku. Add Mewtwo. Where’s Yoshi? The roaster sucks they need(insert Character name.)”

      • yup. It’s just awful

        • Ducked

          • Shota

i have to tell you ducked , you always has some nice profile pics

          • Ducked

            Thank You! 🙂

        • Yousif Alromaithi

I agree but he will nowhere make announcement on miiverse unless off course e3. This is big news.

          • Shota

            or the e3 community right?

    • Sam

I like it a lot, but I’d like to see it more kid-friendly and safe. I’m a kid, keep in mind. I found a Tingle Bottle and it said “I showed my pearls and girls came and my tower got big.” *facepalm* Posts need to be moderated BEFORE being shown on the community.

      • Maybe, but that’d be a LOT of content to monitor. It’s the internet. Unfortunately, not everything is going to be age appropriate. I think what’s better than pretending it doesn’t exist is to see it and acknowledge that it’s wrong, which you clearly did. That’s a really mature thing to do. Proud of you 🙂 Just report posts like that and keep scrolling!

      • greengecko007

I’d rather the communities be divided entirely between ages. I can understand not wanting to see stuff like that, but at the same time older players should have the opportunity to express themselves and joke around like what PSN and Xbox Live offers.

        • DC777

Yeah, I agree with green. Have a split sign on like Netflix for kids version and regular adult version. Maybe get away from the Mii stuff a bit on the adult version.

Other than that some type of side chat instead of an all or nothing communication app. Some way to stream and/or record video would be nice. Editing it would be even better. Really be nice to have a dedicated screenshot folder.

Maybe change the background, play your own music, make your Mii a little cooler. They could really ramp it up if they wanted to.

          • WT Herrod Jr.

Agreed on the split sign in. But any perks you’ve listed would probably have to be applied across the board to keep the division effective. If the adults got access to much better (adult) music or (especially) better Mii options kids would just sign up for the adult account. I realize that the burden should lie with the parents to not allow their children to do this but look at how many 10 year old kids are on Facebook. Parents won’t care until they see their kid viewing adult content and those parents will be the first to cast blame on Nintendo for not moderating every little thing.

      • Shota

i’m sorry to hear that. there are some adult oriented jokes. just report it on miiverse.

    • jjbredesen

Once again great article, i think they should add some form of way to message people on Miiverse, and make the notification system a lot better, and i would like to be able to reply to comments like on Disqus, and Twitter, so the conversations get easier, like you said in the article.

Also would like more color options etc. and the ability to make private communities/groups. Would also like the ability to record your game and post a short video, of perhaps 10 seconds.

      • yeah, I wouldn’t mind video posting either.

        Thanks for the compliment!

    • steveb944

Zorpix this by far my favorite piece by you as I wholeheartedly agree. But ultimately kids will be kids. Side note, wish we had screenshots for MH3U! And I think I’ve seen Joe on Miiverse, but granted it’s a big community so it may have been a different Joe that could draw as well.

      • I’d REALLY like to see screenshots for MH… No clue why we cant. I’d really love an explanation for it.

        Glad you liked it 🙂

    • LJay

I love miiverse, its good to chat to others who love nintendo like i do!its good to know im not the only 30+ nintendo geek!haha

I think i may have spoke to you in the past or played with you on MH3U miiverse/game online as i recognised your name

      • Huh… well, I go by Zorpix everywhere, so you very well may have

    • AkaLink77

Cool! Congrats with your first article! 😛

    • Chris

You hit the nail on the head. I don’t play Smash bros., or Super Mario 3d world or others apps why do I have them up?

      • yup. I dont use these, why are they here? They could at least make it out of games and apps you’ve used before

    • Dark-Link73

So you tag as “Featured Comment” your own comment in order to self-promote your articles?…. Wouldn’t this be considered “conflict of interest” or even “abuse of a position of power”? LoL!

Man, I wish I could write my own articles too.

      • I’m not in control of the “featured comment” option. Ashley is.

        • Dark-Link73

I see…… how much are you paying her then? LOL! jk 😉

          • Apparently just enough ;P

  • Mario Garth

I would agree with the Wara Wara plaza. I would like to choose the communities to be displayed.

    • I seriously hope this gets changed soon

    • DC777

Same here. I was pretty disappointed when I realized I couldn’t. Not sure why I want to look at people’s comments on things I am not interested in.

  • Overall I like MiiVerse as it is fun to share and see what other people share about their game experiences. I have been known to fire up the game pad just to browse through all the art created in Art Academy Studio. There is much they can do to improve the service like you mentioned above but it is a decent gaming focused social network. Of course like any social network or forum you are going to have members that annoy the crap out of you. I guess that is why I have not been in the Smash Bros. section in a long time. It has gotten way out of hand with all the crazies in there.

    • It’s SUPER out of hand… I hope it gets better once the game releases

      • Me too… I had to correct my 10 year old nephew because he got his dad to allow him to use MiiVerse and he was one of the ones trolling in there putting in random Pokemon he wanted to be characters over and over. I mean I love the kid but he is obsessed with Smash Bros.

        • eh… its not good D:

    • WT Herrod Jr.

I think Smash Bros fans may be the closest thing Nintendo has to FPS dudebros. No offense intended to Smash Bros fans.

  • NintendoFan
    • ….wow

    • thecoolmana777

Well thats 15 minutes of my life I’m never getting back!

    • Alexander Kleinwechter

      watched the whole thing xD

  • DragonSilths

Miiverse is a broken system and Nintendo better ditch social media type crap in the 9th gen.

    • Oh, come on now. It’s not that bad, it can actually be a pretty nice way to communicate with people who play the same types of games you do.

      • DragonSilths

Not that bad? I have 4 perma bans, I have had over 50 people impersonate me from the UK, USA, Canada, and Sweden. I have had kids false report me simply cause I blocked them cause we didn’t get along. I have been banned for calling a guy “silly” I have had those idiots send me a friend request after I get banned with them saying HAHAHAHA I GOT YOU BANNED AND IF YOU GET UNBANNED I WILL REPORT YOU AGAIN. Being popular on Miiverse is a death sentence. I have talked with Nintendo about it but they basically said fuck you Miiverse is perfect. Fucking denial.

        • Sounds like a personal issue.

          • DragonSilths

im not the only one like this. Half the people on Miiverse are trolls, haters, and idiotic kids. 25% of people are like you, no issues at all. And then the other 25% are people like me who have so much bullshit.

          • sorry to hear about your troubles :/

          • Wolfgem

Same here. I already got perma-banned. I only use my new acc to talk to friends and discuss things while I play my games on my other banned acc.

          • DragonSilths

Ah, glad to see someone else with Miiverse troubles lol.

    • I disagree entirely. Miiverse is great. It just has a few kinks

  • You make some good points Zorpix! Good article!

Although, couldn’t a lot of these complaints apply to social media in general, not just Miiverse?

    • mainly just miiverse 😛

      • Wolfgem

What about the robot admins? o.o

        • they dont bother me, I dont have an issue with them

  • Kinhas

actually, goku would be pretty awesome!

    • but he’s not nintendo D:

      • Arthur Jarret

No, but…. the last two Dragon quest games and half a dozen remakes have been exclusive to Nintendo consoles and portables. The character designer from those games also created Goku.

        • well…so? They’ve mentioned they’re only using a tiny amount of 3rd party. Megaman and sonic is probably their limit.

          • Arthur Jarret

I merely wanted to illustrate some reasoning as to why Goku isn’t an entirely out-of-left-field choice for an addition to the character roster.

Personally, I’d strongly prefer if they’d add Mickey mouse (his kingdom hearts rendition) – so we can finally have Mickey mouse vs. The mickey mouse of gaming (Mario). Although I don’t see any merit in whining about it in the Smash bros. community (I just stalk Sakurai in real life, break into his house and leave ‘Mickey for SSB’ posts all over his bathroom wall and written in lipstick on his mirror)

          • it’d be super cool, because then he could draw on a “through the mirror” reference. If you write it on his mirrors only.

      • Kinhas

Oh sorry, i thought Snake wasn’t nintendo too!

        • he’s not, but he’s at least a video game character. I think the only reason he got in was that Sakurai and Kojima were pretty good buds

    • Mario

      Ahh!!! Not you too!!

  • Dell Goodman

I’ve used MiiVerse a very small amount of times, and have no real desire to use it again. It’s a feature that I’ve not given much attention to, and unsure if I ever will.

    • odd. Why not?

      • Dell Goodman

I don’t see it adding anything useful for my gaming needs. My Wii U is used for games, and a social feature that just seems doll isn’t something I’m interested in my gaming. It maybe due to that the Wii U isn’t my #1 machine I pick up when I choose a game to continue, that when I do use the Wii U (love the console btw) I’ve already pre selected the game to spend the next hour or so gaming. And I don’t get distracted by the Wiiverse which I still don’t see it worth the time to load it.

Uploaded 2 drawings to it when the Wii U released, asked about what people thought of one title (Pikmin 3 when it released) and haven’t loaded up MiiVerse since.

        • at least it isn’t intrusive :3

  • Sdudyoy

I like Miiverse, I think It’s a good place to share your Video game experiences, I do with there was a way to record video and post it, but other than that it works fine, I also wish there was a community where you could talk about and post images from any video game, of course you would be able to filter out games with ratings such as M or T, if you chose.

    • I think that’s what the “Activity Feed” Is for. 🙂

      • Sdudyoy

Yeah, but to my knowledge you can’t post Images to it, and you can only see posts from people you’re following.

        • actually, the update today allows you to do just that!

          • Sdudyoy

Cool! I didn’t notice that, well looks like I asked for somthing they released already.

          • yeah, it came out before the article was released, but after it was written. It was pretty bad timing for the update 😛

  • starwars360

    Yeah… Yeah! Yeah!?

  • Hmm Mii verse, what can I say about it, it’s like twitter tbh, I’m not to fond on mii verse mostly similair reasons as you gave, I haven’t even been in smash community in a very long time, I made like one post there, just an artwork really nothing more.

I posted a bunch of artworks in MH3U community, some great ones some not so great, and a few even so great that employees from Capcom Europe itself gave a yeah and commented. Mostly I use it for is for some funny comments every now and then. And more often for serious questions, giving another MH example: I was looking for Blackcurl horns for a weapon, and I simply coudn’t find it anywhere, I assumed it to be from black diablos and so poseted the question and thought on mii-verse. Got a clean short answer my thought was right, and got the suggestion to break part X for it to drop.

So I tried and it worked. Just a small experience I had on Mii verse other then that I don’t do much on it and can’t say I really like it a lot, but it’s not bad either. Very usefull at times. As always a good perspective and another great Zorpix’s Den.

    • It’s useful when you need it, and non-intrusive when you dont. Thanks for the compliment!

  • NotMurray

One of the worst things is Miiverse dating: 2 KIDS start a conversation on some random post. 5 minutes later, one of them says they like the other then BOOM boyfriend and girlfriend

    • yeah… But I mean, it’s kinda the same thing as holding hands on the playground. Just nowadays. But it is a bit more pathetic…

      • NotMurray

True true and they are just kids, they’re still learning and maturing

        • exactly. It’s just weird to see it first hand like this.

it worries me that parents arent monitoring it closer though

    • Ducked

I agree! Those are the worst!

  • Magnus Eriksson

Hear me to the end before downvoting here. Overall I would say that MiiVerse sucks. The chat function is poor, chat rooms even worse and not being able to make drawings in colours in other rooms than just the Draw App is ridiculous. Also chat rooms with a twitter limit is strange. So overall I would say it sucks bigtime… BUT, yes there is a huge but here, the suckiness of the feature surely fit well into how much the Wii U sucks. In a way it makes sense. A crappy and sucky service to a crappy and sucky product.

    • Aw come on, we gonna be that harsh? ;P

There are a lot of things wrong with it, but it is super helpful at times. But, you already heard my argument.

I’m not gonna downvote your opinion, but it doesn’t get my upvote either 😉

But how was the article? 😀

      • Magnus Eriksson

Your article was great as always. How was my joke? 🙂

        • I still can’t tell when you’re being sarcastic or not XD So you’re still rock solid on your jokes XD

          • Magnus Eriksson

I actually love MiiVerse. I think its one of the finer things on this console. I use the draw app quite much too, or rather used it a lot before. Loved it, had me back into drawing again (didnt practice this hobby for almost 10-15 years).

          • What’s your NNID? 🙂

I wish I could draw better… I’d love to have some cool miiverse drawings to display on these articles!

My gilfriend can draw really well though. she has some great stuff on her profile

          • Magnus Eriksson

magirisida is my ID. My drawings was made a couple of months ago, but please take a look if you want. I use Miiverse most for chatting, reviewing Virtual Console games, drawings and annoy people of course 🙂

          • I just followed you ;D

    • I read to the end and still had to downvote, sorry Magnus. I don’t agree at all here. Wii U is a crappy product not a crappy and sucky product. Although I like mine. Saves me 200 euros on a samsung galaxy tab, I just use the gamepad. (my sarcastic comment in reply to yours)

      • Magnus Eriksson

Here I try to be friendly and say nice things about Wii U. Throw me a bone here, I was positive after all. 🙂

        • k k I’ll change my downvote to an upvote because you actually try to be friendly 🙂

    • jjbredesen

INSTA DOWNVOTE 😛 just kidding its actually sort of true what you write, you “overdriver” it a bit, but i do agree, Miiverse is a great “app”, but needs a lot of improvements, but i also think its a great selling point.

      • Magnus Eriksson

I actually think MiiVerse is quite good. But I think the new way to categorize the games are a bit messy though.

btw my nnid is magirisida. Take a look at my drawings and reviews if you want. Im alot nicer there, although I like to annoy people there too sometimes.

        • jjbredesen

Yeah its a great place to talk about games etc, but its hard to actually chat lol, you should be able to respond to indivual comments and they should add private chat, and the ability to create groups for friends or clans.

Overall not, bad but it needs a couple of fixes.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Respond to individual comments can become a messy look. But yeah, there are somethings they could do. But overall I think it works quite fine. 🙂

          • Arthur Jarret

I mainly need a bigger friends list – there’s only room for one more thanks to people I know IRL, from wii u daily, from lenghty online monster hunter sessions and because I made some awesome drawings in March 2013 (before MH came out), a lot of jokes and those euro eshop updates 3 days in advance.

I’d also wish 3DS and miiverse friendlists would be combined – so everyone with a 3DS I’ve friended on miiverse would automatically show up in my 3DS list and vice-versa

          • jjbredesen

Yeah, it should be closer to like 1000! As for the 3DS friends list they would need to recreate huge parts of the infastracture to do so. Don’t think they will, but i really want them to!

    • crocodileman94

      As hilarious as always.

    • David Trail

Ha nice try Magnus. Better luck next time.

    • Arthur Jarret

I love sucky product… I rent them all the time, especially in Amsterdam. It’s nice to have a sucky product at home too without it costing eventual alimony

    • Fierce-Deity Link

hmm… i used to find your trolling entertaining, but now you seem to be trying too hard

      • Magnus Eriksson

        Nah, its quite spontaneous 🙂

        • Fierce-Deity Link

used to be lol… now when i go to the article i know wht ur gonna say .. switch it up man… 😉

  • BIG Franky

Dude…. your “ugly” has more to do with people than it does the actual service. I don’t think your criticism works well (i.e., is fair). I agree with your complaint in a general sense, don’t get me wrong…. I just don’t think it holds to complain about a service due to people using the service. but yes, I hate the SMASH community as well… I am guessing when the game comes out it will get its own community, and the current one will become a generic community… much like Legend of Zelda has and Wind Waker has its own community…

    • that’s true. It is about the users as opposed to the service. But I was more talking about Miiverse as a whole. The users, the features, the whole nine yards.

I hope they do that… I’ll at least stick to the posts that are from people who own it

      • Arthur Jarret

I’ll make sure to post regular complain posts listing characters they should have added once I get the game, like Nathan Drake, Alan Wake, Banjo and Kratos.

        • Dont forget Aquaman

          • Arthur Jarret

Aquaman? Nah. Felicity (from Arrow) should be added.
            Hot nerd girls FTW!

          • if we’re going down that path, Felicia Day for smash

  • wiimenonowiiu

I just wish they had trophies or something like that

    • Ducked

Yeah it add a lot more to miiverse profiles

    • stamps.

      • wiimenonowiiu

Stamps would be a good idea and easy to do up

        • They already have the template for Nintendo Land

          • wiimenonowiiu

They also have it for mario 3d

          • true, but those aren’t necessarily achievement based

  • Arthur Jarret

Hey! This wasn’t about miis at all! Regarding the post example, it made me realize I really should draw more often.

I don’t really mind not getting notified when someone comments on a thing I comented on… sometimes I accidentaly post in a topic that turns into either a brony or nonsensical roleplaying conversation so I was glad they removed it.

I do mind getting notified I got a yeah – especially with the notification limit. As you know, I sometimes make brilliant jokes and am extremely popular not only in real life, but on miiverse as well – so I often have 18 comments waiting for me. If too many folks also yeah my posts, I miss some of the comments.

    • a topic close to “Mii”. Miis are on Miiverse. Close to Mii because I was posting on miiverse 😉

They just need an unsubscribe button

I dont get a lot of buzz on my posts D:

      • Arthur Jarret

That could be ANYTHING. Miis are in wii sports, wii fit and Mario U and 3D world, too!

I wish I had a pic with the kid of sixth sense with the caption ‘I see mii people’ – but I’m too lazy to make it.

Anyway – I’ll take care of the buzz on your next post, ‘kay?

        • XD sounds good. I could use a predefined buzz maker

  • Ducked

I don’t really spend a lot of time on miiverse, but I do agree with your article. I would like it if their were more adults on miiverse lol. I don’t know a whole lot about this topic, so I can’t tell you that much. Nicely done article 🙂

    • David Trail

There seem to be more adults on miiverse than the Xbox and Playstation community.

  • David Trail

I spend loads of time on miiverse. During play I put up comments and pics. I ask for help and enjoy sharing opinions with like minded individuals.

I would like some ability to organise your favourite games so you can post easily. A good feature as well as pictures would be to enable short videos as well.

  • bugart19

I agree, Miiverse is mostly useless as I have made so little friends on Miiverse and the ones I do make probably are way too young for me.

    • David Trail

Ever tried posting pics, sharing your opinion, yeahing stuff, posting art academy pics? It is fun. I spend many hours on it lol! The community seems more mature than the ps/ xbox guys. No swearing etc.

  • Blue Hernandez

I haven’t had a Nintendo console since N64 ….so I don’t really know what Miiverse is on my Wii U lol I just use it to play games haha

    • David Trail

How do you use Wii U to play games? When you don’t have one? Are you thinking of acquiring one?

EDIT lol, you have one. I missed that part lol! Try miiverse it is fun. Post a pic of a game you are playing.

  • Nintenjoe82
  • Crocodilo

Go to Fifa, 75% of the post are “i love Messi”… Terrible.
The game with integrated post (Zelda, super mario etc.) are awful, with perfectly useless posts (but then can be fun within the game).
In general, i think Miiverse generate very little conversations, some help, but looks perefctly useless to me for most games (mh3, trines 2, are amongst the few exceptions).

    • yeah, they need another section for posts from games. The Wii Fit U ones fill my activity feed

  • greengecko007

Another good article Zorpix! I definitely agree with these points. Miiverse is a good community for the most part, but it still has its kinks that need to be worked out. Having to launch Miiverse to check messages while not receiving message specific notifications is a serious design flaw in the online integration. That said, I do actually like the Smash Bros. community. It can be a bit ridiculous at times, but that’s only because it’s so popular. It’s just typical internet shenanigans.

    • I suppose. It’d be nice to know who on there is just trollin.

      Thanks 😀

  • Joey

People just like to complaint complaint let Nintendo do their thing. PS3 any better i think not as i have one.

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

I was thinking… “Is he Shokio??” XD.

    Yea, the messaging system sucks

  • AkaLink77

    lol this just happened yesterday!
    click it to see better.

    • What did?

      • AkaLink77

its in the picture i posted.

  • comeonnintendo

    i want zombie u 2 soo bad

  • DC777

Honestly I only post to Miiverse to take a cool screenshot. But…um then I actually have to say something.

This is why I wish we at least had a screenshots folder lol.

    • I’d like a screenshot folder too >.>

      • WT Herrod Jr.

        That would be great

  • NintendoNoob

I want the gamepad to be used as a second app screen like the main TV to be like MK8 and the bottom to be Miiverse, Youtube, browsers then just swipe back to get into the gamepad MK8 menu. But sadly I don’t think Wii U has enough RAM for that

  • William Martinez

The ugly: The admins enough said…

    • I haven’t had a problem with them

  • itsamiamario

I cringe every time I see a ridiculous Smash request too, but you have to remember that a huge percentage of Miiverse are like 10 year old kids.

    • yeah, I acknowledge that, but I still couldn’t help poking fun at it 😛

  • Roman

I think the biggest problem is the organization of comments. I suspect it would be a little too much to ask for threads (let alone the ability to make your own threads or communities for that matter). The comments can seem so random and so hard to organize a discussion. I just don’t go on Miiverse anymore. Not really much of a killer app.

  • Trevor

Honestly, I think it is a good idea that you can’t choose your communities. Now hear me out.
I think they do choose some communities based on the games you play, the games you play most are up there. The other like 3-4 are to show you what else is out there, to get Nintendo fans connected. If you stay in your own sphere then you will be less likely to communicate with different communities people and less likely to be recommended games that you might not have noticed. For instance, if you see like literal every post on DKTF saying things like “Greatest game ever!” then you’re more likely to check it out. I think this was done purposely by Nintendo and I actually really like the hint of randomness.

    • It is nice to see what other people are doing, but I’m just saying it’d be nice to have the option of choice. For people who prefer it both ways!

  • Fresh Games

    Goku? Really? ¬¬
    NO! NO! NO!

  • James060394

I like miiverse. But I only frequen that Black Ops II and Ghosts forums lately due to a troll there. Omega Henry always posts about the PS4 so I always call him out on it. Funnily enough others are now too 😉

I do view other communities like Zelda and 3D world, but I haven’t played them yet due to not owning a Wii U. I want another one because I had to sell my old one, but only when I can use my old NNID on the new console.

  • asdfg

I really like Miiverse, but it would be so much better without all the children… I mean look at the Zelda community, it’s full of badly drawn Triforces and stupid BEN posts (and the typical “HEY GUISE DID U KNO LINK IS DEAD IN MAJORS MASK IS TRUE!!1”).

  • WT Herrod Jr.

I like Miiverse, some forums more than others. Nintendo seems to have started small and is ironing out the kinks and expanding functionality a little at a time – since this is the first major social thing they’ve attempted that’s probably a smart approach.

I bought a Wind Waker HD bundle so my first exposure to Miiverse was through the WWHD community and it was great. Integration with the tingle bottles was a nice touch to keep the players involved with the community and everyone was helpful and enthusiastic, at least in my experience. The only other community I’ve messed around with was the Assassin’s Creed III forum, I posted an amusing picture and … someone commented to correct a spelling error I made at 3 am. Such fun.

  • This is my favorite miiverse interaction. It involves two sets of good advice on how to beat Hoy Quarlow in Super Punch-Out.

  • hahahero

I requested Sanic be put in the SSB roster

  • I am Error.

Awesome article. We’ve all got our pet peeves. Me? I have two with MiiVerse.

    1) Generic: What’s this game about?/Is this game any good? posts. Can’t Google remedy this with reviews from professional critics? Similarly ‘Wow, a new community’ posts are a bit lacking in content.

    2) This game looks alright but I’m saving my money. Really? Thank you for taking the time to let us know you don’t want to buy this.

But I love the screenshot feature. Sharing images from the 3DS gets a bit tricky. I have to share it in MiiVerse then hop on the web version to save the jpeg THEN post it to Facebook, Twitter, etc. This should get a fix.
