Marty from Miiverse has announced a new update for the social network today. Several new changes are incoming for both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS, which you’ll see once you launch Miiverse from either console. The first of these changes is a revamped profile that now allows you the ability to select a favorite hand-written post that you’ve done. If you’re particularly fond of a piece of art you’ve managed to create, you can click the spanner on your profile and then select “set as favorite post” to see the post in your profile. The second biggest change for the service is that you can now give Yeahs to comments as well as the post they’re on, instead of just the posts. If you find a particularly witty comment on someone else’s post, you can now let them know you agree with them! While these are great improvements for Miiverse as a service, there are still some glaring problems that heavy-users come face-to-face with every day. The biggest of those is the current 3 minute wait time for commenting on posts. If you like to hand draw all of your posts this likely isn’t a problem, but if you’re holding a discussion with someone in the comments section, it can be annoying to have to wait 3 minutes before you can say anything. A shorter timer would do wonders to improve interaction on Miiverse. Hopefully we’ll see this in future updates. What do you think about these changes? Is Miiverse shaping up to be a community you’re happy to participate in? local_offer miiverse Nintendo nintendo 3ds wii u stars Further Reading F-Zero X gets updated on Wii U to fix control New Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer and game Super Mario Maker Wii U vs 3DS comparison (vi Get Ocarina of Time on 3DS for only $14 New teaser site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild released How to track NES Classic Mini stock in time for Christmas Exare I think they should make it easier to message your friends. Right now it’s kind of a pain :/ Roadkill409 I totally agree. I wish there was a way to message your friends and they SAW it without having to go looking. I know it pulses, but still, my eyes do not always look there. There has to be a better way Exare Yes! For something that’s designed to be so social they really make it hard to chat with your friends. Strangers? No problem. Wanna message or voice chat with your buddies? eeeeehhh maybe. bizzy gie Seriously. I should be able to message ANYONE like on 360. Not send a friend request. I should also be able to send and read messages ANYWHERE. Not have to go to Miiverse every, single time. Unless you have and still play BO 2. Exare Being able to see your messages anywhere without having to trudge into the Miiverse to check them would really be nice. Zorpix they could at least give a notification! Zakariyya Al-Quran omg like thats the one thing i want from nintendo right now that they could easily do Zorpix It’d be so easy to just pop up a message on the game screen Zakariyya Al-Quran IKR but then they’d get sued by apple like they did with android lol Zorpix I’d say Microsoft would be hornin’ in on their action first:P Roadkill409 This is one things I can’t understand why Nintendo has not already done. It would be so simple. It works seamlessly with the other systems. I never know if I have a friend on until I hit the home button, and that is usually when I want to be done with a game. It bothers me to no end. Roadkill409 It seems like they are slowly making this better. BIG Franky emphasis on SLOOOOOOOWLY…… val berger it’s ridiculous how slow Nintendo actually is working on this stuff. Everyone who has worked in any software dev team knows how long stuff can take, but Nintendo and their whole thing about Apps, System updates and Miiverse development, it’s really like they only had 1 or two trainees available for that who have to check through their C++ or Java or whatever-books for every line of code they have to write. And even for that it’s ridiculously slow. BIG Franky expand the number of friends we can have….. other than that, everything else gets filed in the “Who Cares?” folder…. until the insecure folk start following others, the social capacity will be limited… why have a social network if people don’t follow each other? its ludicrous. just like twitter… dummies don’t understand that if you want followers, you need to follow-back….same with miiverse! but some people are uber-insecure… really kinda sad. why be part of a community if you aren’t going to interact? Archiq09 After do we can have pic about games for profil pic? :3 themizarkshow Glad to see them continue to improve the service… I’d love to finally get that mobile app for it though. Chris I do like the new profile part, and yes they have to change the whole 3 minute wait to post again! TheWichi I just hope some day we can be able to chat without having to open the whole miiverse App, that they I will be happy (happy with Miiverse) val berger As Nintendo is evolving with every console generation from a complete offline console toward a rich full featured online experience, you can expect this to happen with the 9th …maybe 10th generation of consoles. LordiMcKill About time! I was wondering when we could Yeah comments! RockieOllie All of this stuff is frilly fluff stuff i want to be able to message my friends easier! Epic Markell Joshua They should really get on improving the console. darkcreap I absolutely agree, Ashley, the 3 minute timer is an error, especially with such a low character limit in comments. I, personally would put a 3 minute waiting time for every 3 posts in less than 5 minutes, for example. That way, if you need to give a long explanation that would more or less allow you to make it without spamming but you would also put some limits for people who just like to spam like there is no tomorrow. I think it is just a question of seeing how users behave and put a reasonable threshold. Roadkill409 Seems like a good idea. Target the people who are abusing the system. Don’t punish all for the few. Ducked I like what they did to the comments. Gregg I used to use MiiVerse, then I got banned for sharing my email, in order to setup an online game of Steel Diver. So, I retired from it. Love my 3DS and WiiU, but, man, cut us some slack with the leash and bubble wrap. Sylux This update is pretty nice. The 3 minute timer for me isn’t really an issue as I don’t use mii-verse much, but I understand that for highly active users it’s pretty annoying. cthreep The 3 minute thing is pretty annoying. At first I thought it would only apply when posting comments to the same original post, then I tried browsing the Zombi U community and commenting on a few cool posts on the community, only to find out that I had to wait 3 mins to post between totally unrelated posts. LAME. Miles “Tails” Prower The only problem I have with Miiverse is that I can’t see my mii icon, it’s just a question mark. Gentle Robot I’m certainly visiting a lot less with that 3 minute wait. Also, has anyone noticed the service is a lot slower? I have trouble viewing pics from my activity feed.
