Keiji Inafune’s Kickstarter backed Megaman-a-like made an appearance at GDC, this time with actual gameplay footage rather than developmental snips of single levels and screenshots. Inafune shows off some of the abilities that will feature in the game, as well as enemy design. It’s nice to finally have a solid look at what the team at Comcept has been working on.

Might No. 9 will be heading to Wii U as well as other platforms.

Damn….this game is gonna be hard, just like Megaman always was, so unforgiving.

    • TheRealTruthTeller

nah, i love em megaman games and believe me, if you finished every megaman game, this must feel like a breeze

      • Capt. Smoker

I finished every Megaman game I’ve ever owned, none turned out to be a breeze lol

        • TheRealTruthTeller

looking at the credits all by yourself is really rewarding, just finished megaman x2 without killing zero, damn it felt good

  • FIreproof_actual

    Looks like a next-gen Megaman A+

  • Daniel Gonzalez

Looks great. Getting it on PC and probably PS4.

  • Rich Garriques

  • Adrian

Dash ability looks way OP. Might get to play with a friend….but i really want a disc version.

  • CaesarGood

looks good, but if mega man aint on it then its not going to work for me, I want the real mega man not this fill in…

    • J_Joestar

this is probably the closes you’re going to get for the foreseeable future, Capcom doesn’t seem to have any intention of ever bringing him back outside of cameos/guest spots.

      • Mario

Man Capcom! What do you have against your mascot!?

  • J_Joestar

Can’t wait, it’s icon will have a seat in my 3DS right beside Gunvolt when that comes out in the summer.

  • helpo

    Here’s why it’s important:

Have you ever imagined playing an old classic that you loved and wanted it to be online to show off your skills or even play with friends and family that live to far away to play the game with them. Imagine Super Mario World with online and voice chat, Mario kart with online and voice chat or even super smash bros! from N64 with online multiplayer and voice chat the list can go on and on this can be something that I know will be a hit! We together can make this happen if we show nintendo that we really want this! This would be amazing! šŸ™‚

  • jhell

    back in the day

  • FilipiCn

    I’ll buy it!

  • Kas Taylor

    im getting this game !!!

  • FutureFox

    Megaman is officially dead.

    • Mario

No man. He lives through the Mighty NĀ°9, Beck.

  • Jon Turner

Whether it’s MEGA MAN or not, this is still pretty awesome. MIGHTY NO. 9 seems to me to BE the equivalent of MEGA MAN from the looks of it.

  • C.S. Bailey

I’m just wondering when Capcom is going to jump in and stop the release. It looks good, too good. First day purchase for me!

    • J_Joestar

well at least it seems they are becoming wise enough to see how much of a negative backlash that would be to their already hurting reputation.

  • David Trail

Another game for my ever growing Wii U collection!

  • T-X

This is how a Kickstarter game should be handled. They’ve been actively showing their progress of the game every step of the way and reassuring backers their money is hard at work on a true-blue spiritual successor to Megaman.

  • Super Buu

Love how this game is turning out to be. Has a very early-2000s-ish vibe to it

which is awesome since I can’t stand modern gaming’s seriousness.

  • Rob

Looks great. Only one request I have for Inafune. Since this is technically not Megaman, don’t make us fight all of the bosses over again at the end. I love Megaman, but every single one makes you fight ALL bosses over again right before fighting Dr. Wily.

  • iamserious

Is this exclusive for Wii U I forgot? Never mind just read the last line in article.

    • J_Joestar

nope, it is coming to almost everything, PC, PS3/360, Wii U/PS4/XBO, 3DS/Vita.

  • Rinslowe

    I couldn’t say no to this…

  • Andrew Longo

i reckon ‘The Mighty 9’ would have been a suitable title too. The Wonderful 101 has that ring to it that sort of makes you think about all of the wonders not just #101 (the player), might have also given the other ‘numbers’ in this game some more meaning

  • J_Joestar

    On a loosely related note,
Apparently Inafune still wants to make Legends 3, as in, if he had all 7 Dragonballs that would be his wish XD.

  • Sperling

Each of the Mighty’s here reminds me of the Megaman X Mavericks, not the design, but the theme.

Mighty 1 = Flame Mammoth (Fire)
Mighty 2 = Chill Penguin (Ice)
Mighty 3 = Spark Mandrill (Eletric)
    Mighty 4 = Armored Armadillo (Drilling …)
Mighty 5 = Launch Octopus (Heavy weapons)
Mighty 6 = Storm Eagle (Flying)
Mighty 7 = Boomer Kuwanger (Skill with melee cutting weapons)
Mighty 8 = Sting Chameleon (Camouflage)

    Good memories.
