Nintendo is going all out in their efforts to promote and get the word out about Mario Kart 8, and for good reason. The game has pushed the Wii U to it’s limits and even one of Nintendo’s biggest critics say that it’s going to be a big seller for them. In fact it’s already jumped ahead of the PS4 itself on Amazon’s best seller list!

If you’re looking to score a copy of Mario Kart 8, Nintendo is willing to provide. Right now Nintendo has a “Mario Kart Memories” contest going on, where they’re offering up a Mario Kart 8 Wii U Deluxe Set Bundle! All you have to do is post your favorite memory from play Mario Kart on Twitter with the hashtags #MarioKartMemories and #Promo, and you’ll be entered to win.

Of course, if you want to improve your chances, you can also enter our Mario Kart contest! There are three chances left to win; last week’s winner was Sean Corcoran, this week’s could be you!

Of course, if you can’t wait for the game to actually come out you can read about some of the latest details revealed here, check out the hidden Miiverse community, or even listen to the full soundtrack! If that doesn’t scratch your Mario Kart itch, then this might: Nintendo is going to be holding a demo event at GameStops allover the country this weekend, giving you all a chance to try out the game early!

What do you all think of this? Does the opportunity to win a Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle interest you? If so, let us know in the comments and tell us what your favorite Mario Kart memories are, and be sure to enter the contest on Twitter!

So many good memories. Since the first Kart I played on the SNES. Being the first Kart ever too I believe. Time trials reinvented the meaning of replay-ability in my household and near endless sibling rivalries.
    Good times.

  • Mario Kart is both responsible for bringing my brothers and I closer together and causing some of the biggest fights ever. Well that and GoldenEye64.

    • Rinslowe

Goldeneye 64 is responsible for some of the “best” multiplayer memories I can recall. Ever.

      • Ultrasyd

Days and days of fun on this one !

        • Rinslowe

It was literally months and months. 🙂

          • Ultrasyd

Right ! But keep this one for later, when they organise a Goldeneye U contest 😉

      • ScrewAttack

I liked Goldeneye, but for me it couldn’t touch perfect dark.

        • Rinslowe

          Both quite memorable.

        • DoctorWily

Goldeneye revolutionized multiplayer gameplay. Perfect Dark perfected it.

    • Justin Carlson

Yup. There is nothing quite like gaming on the same sofa together. Online can’t reproduce that experience.

  • darkcreap

Anyone remember the red shell glitch? I liked putting up to three of them in orbit at the same time, but it was difficult to get them all simultaneously. More often than not the game engine used to delete them or you could end up killing accidentally the guy in the middle of the orbit :D.

    • Rinslowe

      I honestly cannot remember that.

  • gerb1977

This is perfect as I only use my twitter account to try and win free stuff anyway. Also a free Wii U would be a great gift to my brother who is now 12 hour drive away

  • anthony optimo

Nintendo should advertise it on BBC, Comedy Central, FXX, anywhere where grown ups could be watching. People who may have played earlier iterations on older consoles could be inclined to purchase it for their kids or themselves. Just Saying.

    Glitch/Bug Free Gaming Movement 2014.

    • Suraj Alexander

      bbc dont do adverts

      • anthony optimo

Hmm, maybe BBCA in the states?

  • Ultrasyd

    Tweeted … : )

  • Suraj Alexander

guys check this out. X is coming out 2014 world wide. check page 6 of this official nintendo document.

    • darkcreap

Yep, read it. Great, since in the last Nintendo Direct it showed up no approximate release dates were indicated. That made me think they would delay it to 2015, especially since Bayonetta was announced just before it and had a 2014 release date.

    • anthony optimo

thanks for this info, much appreciated.

    • Ultrasyd

This game can’t come soon enough

    • Mario

      Thanks for the info. 🙂

    • Arthur Jarret

Great find! Thanks for this. And nice to know SMT x FE and yarn yoshi aren’t dead!

      • Dark Lord Sauron

cause atlus was bought out by sega so maybe it delayed smt x fe til things settle down

    • Shota

already knew that in januari. it shows it every fisical year. but it can also come 2015.

    • Please understand, that X has been replaced with Tingle Touch U, because of Microsoft paying 900 000 million dollar for the game to run in 720p. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

the best part for mario kart was mario kart double dash on the wiiu when i got defeaten multiple times by my little sister she was 12 i was 20 i think it was the baby park she always kicked me into the corners and always finished +1 lap.
weird thing was she always used a mini controller from big ben i always thougt that was the crappy controller.

    • Ultrasyd

I confirm, it is a crappy controller ! All mines didn’t last long. But I liked the ergonomy of this little controller. Maybe the controller was bad but she was simply too good for you even with that handicap :p

      • Benjamin_nl

her bigben mini gamecube controller was half the size of a original gamecube controller so it was to tiny for me to try the controller.

  • LisaJDwyer

Since the first Kart I played on the SNES. Time trials reinvented the meaning of replay-ability in my household and near endless sibling rivalries via multiplayer.

    Good times.

Right on! Great read; even more of a reason to grind out these last two weeks in anticipation of this awesome Nintendo product.

    • greengecko007

The speculation is whether or not Mario Kart 8 will be native 1080p or upscaled… Those links do nothing to provide an answer.

    • Virus6

“Without question,Nintendo is more likely to hit the 1080/60 mark more often than its competitors, due to the fact that a good deal of its games are based on their signature cartoony animation style. ”

There is so much wrong with that statement. The art style has absolutely NOTHING to do with this at all!

      • RyuNoHadouken

ummm, yes, it does…”Cartoony” games dont require as much horsepower as “Realistic” ones….no need for me to go into detail, because you obviously dont know what you’re talking about.

  • Jason

I’m glad their advertising it on TV, and these commercials are IMO better than the ones for Mario Kart DD, Wii, and 7.

  • Daniel Carvalho

So, I can only participate in that contest if I live in US?

    • Yes please understand, it is only open for US citizens.

      • Daniel Carvalho

We never get anything in Latin America… =/

I know I want to leave this place as soon as possible, but it would be nice being able to participate in some contests in the meantime. We don’t even have a Pokemon Center in Brazil!

        • We understand your frustration, but there is little we can do. This is a North American competition and your countries import taxes makes it hard for us to offer products at a reasonable price.

If you have any further questions please contact our support service.

          • Andy Cadle

Who’s this loser posting as ‘Nintendo Of America’?
Quite clearly some fool thinking he’s being funny by playing a joke on everyone.
And wheres the betting he’ll reply with a serious, official Nintendo sounding response?

          • greengecko007

Some people find their posts funny. Either way, there’s no deception going on. Nobody in a correct state of mind believes that anyone from NOA has anything to do with that disqus account.

If you don’t like them, ignore them.

          • Michael Ocampo

Was just about to finish my post… and then i saw yours :p

  • Derek

My first and favorite Mario kart is double dash. Maybe Mario kart 8 can take that title as my favorite Mario kart

  • Nick Petlock

I wish this contest was valid in Canada 🙁

  • BrotherDump

I wouldn’t know where to start I’ve had so many good times playing it 😀

  • Zer0faith

Definitely the one time when my brother was ahead of me while I was in second place. One blue shell later… well you can guess the rest.

    • Andrew Gonzalez

      He should’ve slowed down 😛

  • Darkness

I remember when battle mode was actually battle mode

    What a great memory

  • greengecko007

One of my best Mario Kart memories is out running a blue shell on Mario Kart Wii’s Luigi Circuit thanks to the lane full of boosts on the last curve.

    • Ali Mohamed-Ali

      I had the same memory!

  • thedeciderU

has pushed wii u to “its” limits – colin!!!

  • Rick van der Linde

All the happy colors, music, sounds, characters and than the game starts; hell on earth.

  • Guys, don’t follow these steps explained above … the right hashtag is #ilovemariokart
EVERYONE… send your message under that hashtag to enter the contest.

muuhahahahaha… I guess I can sit here and wait for my Mario Kart 8 bundle to arrive.

  • Favorite memory? Not playing the games, of course.
Kidding. Playing Mario Kart Wii with my cousins in Michigan. Loads of fun.

  • Marioman21

Am I tempted to get a twitter know yes but am I tempted enough to actually do it probably not. I might due it to try and win it for my friend Mitch who does not have the money for a Wii u. Dude loves Mario Kart was #1 ranked in the world on Luigi Circuit in MK Wii for a long time until his Wii freaked out and deleted all of his save data for every game he had.

  • Linskarmo

I just entered it! Thank you for the heads-up. 😀
