Aside from the news that the board of directors re-elected Satoru Iwata as president of Nintendo for another year, more good news came from the annual shareholders meeting in the form of sales for Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart 8 has been available for a little under a month now, launching on May 30th world wide. According to the meeting, 2 million copies of the game have been sold in the time since its release. Nintendo confirmed this number to IGN, with Genyo Takeda confirming the news on behalf of the still recovering president Iwata. This is great news for a game that was expected to help move Wii U units, which it seems to have accomplished thanks to the Mario Kart 8 bundle available. local_offer mario kart 8 Nintendo shareholders meeting wii u stars Further Reading Nintendo loses patent appeal, ordered to pay Nintendo was brainstorming about Switch when Yousif Alromaithi Mario kart equals awesomeness. Rinslowe Wow. 2 million copies in about 4 weeks. That’s quite impressive software performance. Their bread and butter. Wii U attach rate is higher than 3.5 titles right now… iancamilosanchez Let’s say that MK8 sold 2 million in 26 days. Rinslowe Sure. iancamilosanchez I think that the game will have sold 3 million by August and 4 million before christmas season, there it can make a couple with SSB4 and sell other 3 million. Rinslowe Yeah, could do. It sold 1.2 million copies in 48hrs though so we’d need to keep that in mind. iancamilosanchez I wonder that SM3DW also gets a second boots for reaching the 4 million mark and Bayonetta 2 for reaching 1 million!!! Rinslowe I think all of Nintendo’s first party titles could end up getting little boosts all the way along. Only Mario has a chance of seeing another entry this generation. Not sure about Bayonetta 2 just yet. Not that brave. But I can guarantee they’ve made one sale already… I edited my previous comment. It’s late… After thinking about it, 4 million overall software sales by say Nov end, sounds pretty fair. iancamilosanchez But look, Pikmin 3 is already hitting the million mark, by christmas it can reach it, LEGO City too. Why B2 can’t? Rinslowe Maybe it does… I’m just not ready to say how well it’s received until I have the luxury of hindsight. lol. It’s a really hard title to predict. I guess the guys at Nintendo are eager to know that answer as well… Daniel So happy this is doing well. It really is an amazing game! Ryan Michael Riñon Nillo Probably cuz despite being the year of Luigi Rosalina has been receiving just as much attention lately haha FutureFox I know. Rosalind looked panicked and I figured in a panicked state she would probably yell for mario. She would say masterwork during part where she’s pulling away with her arms and legs. Just seemed funny to me. LevenThumps So, is this the highest selling WiiU game yet? The only games that I can imagine beating it are NintendoLand and New Super Mario Bros. U, since they were bundled with the consoles. Still, 2 million sold in less than a month is INCREDIBLE! Keep up the good work Nintendo. Marioman21 NSMBU is over 4.5 million, Nintendo Land is about 2.8 million, 3Dworld is about 2.2 million, Mario Kart 8 is just over 2 million, WWHD is at about 1.1 million, Wii Party U is about 1.3 million and Pikmin 3 is almost at a million and will probably break it by the end of the year. Gabe Hoffman And Polygon said it wouldn’t hit that number until next March FutureFox Really? That’s insane. Even Pachter said between this and SSMB they would sell between 5 – 10million. Stands to barely need reason that the game would reach 2 million within this year alone. The question now is will the remaining millions come with new console owners or just the established install base? Capt. Smoker Pachter was positive for a change?, that’s bells and whistles to my ears 🙂 half the time he just bashes Nintendo and preaches about his wife and kids, Nintendo must of done something right. Zanzama Even someone as blind as Pachter has to admit that trying to undermine Mario Kart’s sales potential is just stupid. Capt. Their bread and butter. Wii U software attach rate is looking higher than 3.5 titles right now per system… http://to.ly/zX0T Rinslowe Awesome a stalker. I always wanted one of those. No guess as to who that could be… Oh the excitement. It’s riveting. Capt. Smoker 2 million people buy Mario Kart 8, your gonna have a good time ^_^ Ducked I’m really curious to see what worldwide sales are now for Wii U. I’m guessing the install base could be near 7 million Rinslowe I think it should be close to it… MerryBlind . I’m expecting it to be higher than 7 million at this point though. The 6.2 million figure we had was months ago. Fiercedietymelkor What was it? March or April that they released that almost 6.2 million number? I think that they’d be around 6.5 to 6.7 million at the most. Capt. Smoker They haven’t budged on VGchartz for a long time, makes me think there’s some kind of conspiracy going on. bistricky It actually did budge on the VGchartz …. went from 6.1 (just prior to Mario Kart 8) to 6.4 million ……. I think they have estimated 250,000 Wii U’s sold from the release of Mario Kart 8 to the week ending May 14th. So, maybe nearing 6.5 now. I think when It comes to Wii U sales these numbers seems realistic. bistricky Beyond Mario Kart 8 being a great game ….. the added free game during the first 2 months of it release: definitely kept it rolling. Amazon lists it as #1 video game (not including gift cards). Impressive. Rinslowe True. matthew garcia Sale are really impressive and I’m sure it helped with console sales but I wonder if this will just happen in spurts with only big game releases. Consoles are already going back down but then they should boost back up with smash. They need consistent sales not spurts Daniel Gonzalez Very true. A few system sellers aren’t going to make a huge difference. matthew garcia Yeah the only way out of the hole the Wii u is in is to get capcom but who knows what will happen with that. Capcom could very well go somewhere else Daniel Gonzalez Capcom will probably end up being sold to a major Japanese third party. I don’t see Nintendo forking the money for it. I believe Capcom’s IP are meant to be multiplatform in my opinion. Only IP that fits Nintendo’s bill, would be Mega Man. Officer Raichu and monster hunter for 3ds its sell well on it Daniel Gonzalez Right. Forgot about that one too. Not a fan of it, but they are quality games. Rinslowe I find that hard to agree with in context. What I mean is. When I look at two system sellers like Kart and Smash. I see them both performing quite well. I think most people can accept that they’ll sell a fair amount units and copies. And then, it has to be anticipated what comes next. It’s hard to really agree with your comment again, in any kind of context because it stops short of implying Kart and Smash are the only system sellers the platform will likely see, period. If taken at face value, then for what those titles do for the platform from now (as Kart is on the market) to say FY end (giving Smash a good 5 or so months of sales), it’s hard to say they wouldn’t have made a decent difference to hardware and software. What they do over the course of the generation, just those two titles, is hard to speculate. And you may just be right. But there’s more system sellers no doubt before the console arrives… matthew garcia The thing is your point can’t be proven right now for the fact that the only game to truly make an impact is Mario kart. Other games havnt really made a dent. So for how things have progressed I’m gonna say that for 2014 Mario kart and smash will be the only games to move consoles. No other games have proven to work. Rinslowe Well sure I can accept that. If you put it into context and say, ok. For 2014 Kart and Smash will be the only real system sellers, then absolutely. I agree with you. In fairness though, just what level of sales we’re looking at from those two games come the end of FY 2014 is speculation either way. We could say that their impact on the Wii U in 2014 sales should be significant given that time period. If no other system sellers are released from now until next generation, then the previous point makes perfect sense as well… But it’s unlikely we’ll only see Kart and Smash as relevant system sellers before Wii U is succeeded. matthew garcia Yeah man it’s just one of those wait and see things. I’m just going by the trend I have seen so far. I could be wrong Fiercedietymelkor Kart and smash are their biggest games though. Rinslowe Yes, I can agree with that. But are they the only big games to sell the system until the generation ends? Not really eh… And if we try to speculate whether or not they collectively achieve a positive difference in Wii U sales until that time. I think we’d be approaching the topic unfairly either way… Daniel Gonzalez Well opinions aren’t about really being fair. I personally go by what I see right now. Mario Kart 8 and Smash are about the only games that will sell consoles. I have no idea what’s in store for the future, but I’m sure we’ll get to that when the time comes. Rinslowe I’m not actually implying fairness in the literal sense. And I can accept that you’re commenting based on what your opinion of the situation is right now. What I’m really saying is that looking at just Kart and Smash as the only system sellers over the course of Wii U’s lifespan is probably not realistic. Equally, speculating whether either title makes a significant difference over the next twelve months based on what we can see now only looks to imply realistically speaking both can potentially do exactly that difference… I mean, looking at the situation from the starting point of “now” for eg. We know that Kart has managed to sell 2 million software units in 4 weeks. That’s already a significant figure in terms of software. Hardware we really only have Japanese figures. And no-where else. So there’s yet more opportunity to “speculate”. But the current situation in Japan for consoles generally speaking should be noted. 36K since Kart released is not a figure to write home about, that’s a fair assumption… But yes absolutely, we’d need to see how Kart is doing by around Nov end. And how Smash does by FY end to really now if any major difference in sales was achieved. Officer Raichu mario galaxy 3 the epic finale in 1080p oh gosh thatll be amazing Daniel Gonzalez The Galaxy games were great and still play them when I get the chance. A sequel on the Wii U, would be a smart move for Nintendo. Fiercedietymelkor Yea I don’t think anyone is saying kart and smash are the only system sellers, just that they are the only major releases this year. Fiercedietymelkor Unfortunately with how seldom a major game gets released, that’s the reality of the Wii u situation. Until Nintendo can have major releases every month, which seems highly difficult for them to accomplish in their own, you’ll only get temporary increases in hardware sales each time a major Nintendo title releases. Daniel Gonzalez Sounds about right. Third party support is what keeps the consistent sales going. Without it, you end up with droughts. They don’t have enough man power to push out big games each month. It already shows. jjbredesen Yeah, in terms of sales its always a bit of a roller coaster with Nintendo, when the big games come out every 2-3 months the sales go up and then they go down, if they had the 3rd party games the sales would be more stable, but kart has made a nice impact on sales, so if Wii U’s sales stay on this level and continue to outsell Xbox One, i think publishers will try there luck again. Ubisoft has already said they have games ready for Wii U, but are waiting for sales to pick up. Will be interesting to see the outcome, but for now it does not look that bad, could be better, but Nintendo has become a lot better on the PR site of stuff lately. Fiercedietymelkor Ubisoft is just one third party publisher. I think counting on some unknown games that may our may not exist is silly. If you’re using vgchartz to base that comment that Wii u is outselling Xbox one globally I don’t know if I can take that seriously. Vgchartz is basically an educated guess. jjbredesen Yeah it is a bit of a guess to use VGchartz, but Reggie said that Wii U is outselling Xbox, and i think in the latest media crate thing? Not completely sure, but most people say Wii U has been outselling Xbone for the last 2.3 weeks. Il try to find a source 😉 matthew garcia He may mean that overall Wii u has more sales. Truth is though Xbox one has sold quite a bit more if you put them in the same timeframe jjbredesen On a average weekly basis Xbox has sold more than Wii U, but since Mario Kart 8 released Wii U has sold more, but i am not sure if that is still the case, still looking for a good source… Jonathan Robitaille pretty sure PS4 and Xbone had record breaking launches, especially PS4. But those launch windows are over and Xbone sales since Titanfall bundle are not very impressive. It’d be nice to get concrete numbers but I think people care a little too much about how their plastic machines are selling compared to a different plastic machine they don’t own. I really don’t think the bump from Mario Kart 8 has been that substantial. The game is selling but not sure about consoles. But games like Kart have cumulative effect on sales over the lifetime of the console and will continue to contribute to sales. Fiercedietymelkor Reggie meant as far as total sales, as in lifetime. That much is true. Last I’ve heard was 6 million shipped for Wii u and 5 million shipped for Xbox one I mean lol jjbredesen I think Wii U is close to 7M now, PS4 is around 8-9 and Xbox is almost on 5. But there will be no proper source for Wii U sales until the next financial briefing. Fiercedietymelkor The estimate that I’ve heard for Wii u recently was 6.5 I think, if that. That’s just an estimate though. When is the next financial thing? jjbredesen Jul. 30, 2014 Officer Raichu actually they also said they have 375 wii u developers(dat indie craze doe) and 450 3ds developers 🙂 jjbredesen As you said, most of them are indies 😛 Officer Raichu who knows i could be wrong and you also forgot indie makers like the shovel knight guys(that game is getting great reviews) and those guys making the gorgeous fast racing neo jjbredesen Yeah some of them make great games, and indies are not to me underestimated (take Mojang as an example), but they need more major publisher support to. Officer Raichu well if wii u continues to outsell ps4 in japan i expect more support from namco sega and capcom(possibly square) activision and ubisoft are a maybe(if they pick up in the west) and ea and take two are a big no jjbredesen Agreed. Rinslowe “Nintendo has become a lot better on the PR site of stuff lately.” This is the thing I think there’s more pressure on Nintendo to be consistent. If they manage to maintain their recent improvement in positive public perception. Then they’ll have removed a rather nasty thorn in their side of late. Which can only help them in the long run. jjbredesen I think it started around the time of the Tomadachi Life direct, and since then they have done a great job, they should be able to keep the flow going, and the marketing has been better to, so as with sales i don’t think it will be as bad as last year xD Everything is going to be better this year, and i think next year looks good to! Rinslowe Well with a Zelda that’s got everyone talking and a new Starfox in the works. Splatoon has a lot of positive interest as well. X for us guys n girls outside of Japan in 2015…. I think Wii U should do pretty alright next year. Being optimistic. jjbredesen Zelda is the reason i buy Nintendo consoles xD, so i am very optimistic for next year 😛 Brandon 2015, is going to be awesome for all three consoles and pc. They only bad thing is how broke im going to be by the end of next year. Rinslowe Very true… Fiercedietymelkor Zelda might be their biggest title next year but unfortunately Zelda isn’t as much of a heavy hitter as kart or smash. Daniel Gonzalez Actually….Zelda is one of their heavy hitters. Of course that depends on your idea of “heavy hitters.” I have no clue what the sales will be for it with only around 6 million consoles at this point, but I expect it to hit Mario Kart 8 sales or possibly better. jjbredesen I think it will do okey, not Mario Kart sales, if you look at Skyward Sword it only sold 3M whilst MK WII sold 32M, but some Zelda games have done a lot better, Minish Cap sold better than MK: Super circuit or atleast i think so. Zelda U has a huge hype, and i know that i am not alone when i say that its my most anticipated game of this gen, so it sould move a decent amount of units. Daniel Gonzalez Well, Skyward Sword came around late in the Wii’s life, so I’m going to give Zelda U the benefit of the doubt. Not a big fan of Zelda, but I think it’s going to sell better than Skyward Sword. jjbredesen Yeah it will sell better than Skyward Sword that is for sure! Rinslowe Guaranteed almost. Of course it’s impossible to say for sure. But it’s reaching a lot more people than Skyward Sword did at the time. SS really should have done better. It wasn’t my favourite Zelda title. But it was hardly a flop. Far from it. Just the timing wasn’t great. Zelda U has that hype, they just need to somehow maintain it to continue the appeal with those freshly interested. 2015 release is actually tight on timing, coming off of the momentum which started with Kart and then Smash. The install base should be looking better by then. Most people will probably be rapping up their experiences with X etc. And yeah. I think a lot of people are now open to beautiful looking art styles with a Zelda theme in open world and Nintendo’s polish. Haha, there’s a little artistic impression coming out now. Really looking forward to playing Zelda… :”) jjbredesen Yup, it is impossible to say, but as you said, it sure does have a better timing, and more hype behind it, and coming after Wii U’s 2 biggest games during its prime time is the best time to release a game. The artstyle is definitely the best we have ever seen, and yet again Nintendo has shown that they can make a fantastic looking game even when on weaker hardware. One think that i am most impressed with is how well they have done shaders this gen, MK8 being the most recent example. Skyward Sword is actually one of my fav Zelda games, i hated Fi, and i wanted more freedom, but the story was the best ever in any game, the gameplay was the best its ever been to, and the dungeons had some fantastic design, but they where a bit to easy. But still a fantastic game! Never understood all the hate it gets. The thing about Zelda is that you know that they next game will be great, and your not really ever worried. It has it all: -Looks great -Sounds great -Plays great and has a fantastic story and mythology. Every gen, my most looked forward to game, is the next canon Zelda game, so i can’t wait! And from what i have heard i am far from alone! Rinslowe Yeah that’s a hard one to predict as well. There seems to be a lot of positive vibes out there for Zelda. And if they market it right, it just might appeal to the non core Nintendo fan as well. Enough to sell systems on it’s own though with current “last gen or next gen system owners”? Wouldn’t know. But it should do quite nicely with the existing install base. Which is looking to be close to 7 mil at this point. By the time Zelda releases it could be more like banging on 8 million. But remember Nintendo is the developer and the publisher. On the software front it’s all gravy. Download titles are no doubt a nice little earner for them lately too… Daniel Gonzalez Hard to tell since digital sales are hard to track. Would be nice to know what the numbers of indie games. though. Rinslowe Yeah. I think it’s fair to say it’s not anything revolutionary overall. It’s still a growth and learning area for Nintendo realistically. I do believe if they were killing it we would know about it already. But seeing as though they have and are putting effort into the E-shop. I’d also say it’s fair to speculate they’re quietly happy with how it’s performing. Who wouldn’t be? Sure there’s an incentives scheme in place for download titles with Nintendo Club and E-shop credit up to US $5 per every full retail title bought. But they’re still full retail price as well. I’ve come to accept that fact only due to being in HK. My console I bought in another country while on holiday. So it works out to be more value to download as an early adopter of most games… Not really convenient for international shipping in that sense. Fiercedietymelkor Ouch, that really shows how low the standard is for Wii u sales. I mean a little over a million consoles sold in a year and a half, that is if your prediction is about right and Zelda comes out next holiday. Rinslowe Personally I think reaching 8 million units by Zelda would be seen as a positive. I’m not sure my standard should be taken as a universal lol… Fiercedietymelkor Well yea selling more consoles is good, obviously, I’m just taking about the rate they are selling. Fiercedietymelkor Well for some perspective skyward sword sold less than 4 million. Twilight princess sold more, about 7 million, but it also was helped by the fact that it released when the Wii was in its prime. Wind waker did about 5 million etc. Definitely not as big as Mario kart. Daniel Gonzalez Not as big as Mario Kart, but with the current low sales of the Wii U, it’s not too hard to shoot for it. Of course, that depends on the sales of Mario Kart during the rest of the year. jjbredesen No its not, but if the comment section of most major gaming sites such as IGN is anything to take in to consideration it will sell pretty good. Before E3 everyone was sort of meh about Wii U, after they saw Zelda U suddenly 3/4 out of the comment section wanted a Wii U and praised Zelda U for looking fantastic, i myself sort of only buy Nintendo systems for Zelda, as its my fav franchise ever, and i know a lot of people want to try it. So i would not underestimate the power of Zelda. Rinslowe Neither is it the only hitter next year in all fairness. It’s all relative like I so often say. Smash and Kart are also one time deals for Wii U. There are no annual releases there. It’s fair to assume any new consoles sold with 2015 titles will also include a variety of other first party titles. We know those are Nintendo’s winning ticket on revenue. We also know that the average Wii U gamer today is buying 3.5 to as high as five (the sources vary) titles per system. Hardware is important. It needs to generate enough sales to pay for it’s initial investment. And create enough market share to foster a healthy sales environment for it’s software (where they’re making the lions share of their money). Like your reference earlier to Watchdogs, only Zelda is a fraction of the cost in development compared to that. It could just as well do as many no’s any other decent first party title on the platform so far and hit up to 2m or more copies in it’s first 6-12 months. Nintendo would easily be sitting pretty on just that figure given the fact they are both developer and publisher equally. bistricky Right on the money …… I vividly remember what regulars on Wii U Daily were posting prior to Tomadachi Life Direct …… some of the strongest supporters of the Wii U and Nintendo were shifting negative big-time ….. Nintendo was so quiet then …… Yet, now we have seen they were quiet because they were working on a new plan …… and the daily actions by Nintendo has been vastly different. Some of the Wii U’s biggest critics in the media have even stopped attaching the word doomed to the Wii U. Nintendo has, in my opinion, successfully recognized that they had to counter-act the general negative perception of its Wii U first, and then lay out a new vision for its future …. with key system updates, new exclusives and IPs and even a new wildcard such as the Amiibo. And maybe most importantly, like you mentioned, marketing better and leading the news instead of letting the media label them, as they did before. Cheers 😀 Jonathan Robitaille I admit I was not exactly thrilled with the lack of concrete game announcements. I still think they are behind the eight ball with the timing of these games releasing. After DKTF (which is amazing btw) there was a lull till Kart (amazing) and then another the Holidays. That isn’t good enough. But E3 really surprised me with how great Wooly World looks, how they turned Captain Toad into a new stand alone game, a new IP in Splatoon, glimpse of Zelda, a Kirby announcement, and we now know Star Fox is coming. Combine that with Smash and there’s lots to be happy about. I am really hoping we get a surprise announcement or two (Majora’s Mask remake, new game?) before the Holiday season hits. Or…that 3rd parties surprise with some games made from the ground up on the Wii U to help bridge the gaps. I’m pretty sure Fast Neo Racing and Project Cars are close but I am hoping someone else surprises. bistricky I am really looking forward to Project Cars …. from their website it appears they are gunning for a late November release …. it is one of the few games where the game is being made for the PC and the 8th generation consoles only …. and the dev. seems to like how the game is progressing on the Wii U. I will buy this game simply on that fact alone. I think there is a lot for Wii U gamers to look forward to. Where once there was the ‘doomed’ console, it is more like the ‘underdog’ console. And on the surface that might not seem like much but it is a huge difference. Cheers 😀 jjbredesen Yup, i was also starting to be really negative before tomadachi life, and now that i have seen that Nintendo has understood the problem, acknowledged it and tried to do something about it, my faith has returned. David Trail So even with third party. Why is PS4 having droughts/ It is a load of bs. matthew garcia I agree Brandon This is why having third party support is important. Jonathan Robitaille that applies to every console ever sold. you need games. Nintendo was not prepared for this gen as far as churning out enough software sales. I feel it is looking slightly better in this regard going by E3 and what we know is coming. I have to admit, there are a few titles not coming to the Wii U from 3rd parties that hurt. But maybe you just have to own two consoles in order to get your gaming fix, like pretty much every generation. Rinslowe I think that’s how to play the game these days. Before it was a choice. Now it’s what you have to do. It also goes both ways. For someone who only owns a PC, PS4 of Xbox One I’d likely give them the same advice. Those Ninty first party games are as polished and playable as their titles have ever been. Everybody should getting in on that… And some third party games and other system exclusives I couldn’t imagine going without. Jonathan Robitaille agreed. I can’t imagine not getting to play DK or Mario no matter what else I owned. I think there are people that write Nintendo off because they are gen x and gen y and let’s face it, Nintendo hasn’t been the ‘cool’ console to own. It’s a shame because Nintendo 1st party is really good. Very pretty and challenging with new compelling IPs. I’m also surprised people who only own Nintendo would willingly forego Uncharted, Last of Us, and games like Red Dead, Batman, and other mutl-plats. But maybe limited funds force buyers to get what they perceive to be their best bang for their buck. I think a PS3 probably addressed that the best. It was a blu ray player, had lots of exclusives and all the multi plats. Sure you missed out on Halo and all of Nintendo but I can understand going that route. I think no blu ray playback is really a missed opportunity for the Wii U. I just don’t get it. Rinslowe “But maybe limited funds” I think that unfortunate fact of life gave birth to the modern day fanboy as we know it, tbh… I think perhaps limited budget is the better term. Most of the generation in question still being limited to what budget their parents outline for them. In many cases there being more important items of the list of financial priorities for most families. Probably some truth in that, yeah… Oh and the PS3 was great. Still is. Mercurio2054 i’m a parent and i im limited by me to buy multiplat (well some times i buy games for PC, but once a year) Rinslowe Yep I respect that. There’s more variations out there on financial priorities. But that doesn’t mean I’m instantly implying your a fanboy. Lol I hope that wasn’t the impression you had. I was saying that the majority of modern day fanboys were probably mostly under mum and dads roof. Still subject to their cashflow. Younger than the average part time worker. And likely limited to one system… Mercurio2054 true Fiercedietymelkor Yea Nintendo games are polished but they’re also not very complex. Rinslowe In most cases I’d say broad sweeping generalisations like that were just an attempt to bait fanboys into some kind of defensive. But giving you the benefit of the doubt, in what way would you say Nintendo games lack complexity in comparison to other developers products? Jonathan Robitaille lol…crickets. Fiercedietymelkor Of course it’s true for every console, did I say otherwise? The difference is that the other consoles will not be put through as many or as rough of droughts as the Wii u. Jonathan Robitaille they already are. 2014 is about on par with the woeful 2013 for the Wii U as far as lack of games. But late 2013 the Wii U had a pretty good run of releases especially the all important exclusive. Neither of the others will get that though 3rd party will mitigate it to some extent. Fiercedietymelkor Let’s see there’s one major release for Wii u left this year. There’s a slew of big games releasing for ps4 and Xbox one over the next 6 months compared to that one game. Jonathan Robitaille problem is our definitions of major releases differs. To a Nintendo fan and Wii U owner I view most 1st party and 2nd party titles as major. These are the very reasons I wanted to own a Wii U for in the first place. These games (since there is so little 3rd party support) are all Nintendo has to get people to buy the Wii U. I think you probably refer to Kart, Zelda, Smash, and Mario as the few ‘major’ franchises right? Whereas I put DK, Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Mario Party, Metroid, Star Fox, Yoshi, and Kirby in there as well. It’s all about perception. I think you are right that the ‘major’ releases have been absent up till now and only Smash is left for this year and Zelda for next. By your account that is pretty bad. But by my accounts there are more quality games on the Wii U either out now or announced than the Wii had it’s whole lifetime and it’s not even 33% over for this gen. Sales do matter and if there are more people like you than me as it pertains to the perception of lack of major releases than the Wii U is in a heap of trouble and it appears that there are, sadly for Nintendo and its shareholders. Fiercedietymelkor Yes there are quality games but they aren’t necessarily all major releases. By your own admission the only major releases the Wii u is getting are Nintendo games. That’s not good. Daniel Gonzalez Indeed. Jonathan Robitaille I am not a fan of many of the supposed major 3rd party games. They are not ever top notch polished games built to a systems’ specs. I will always choose exclusives. In my experience 3rd parties don’t put in the same amount of time and effort on games. Thankfully my console of choice provides me with that. I did really enjoy Arkham Asylum though on xbox. But I am getting TLOU PS4 bundle when that comes out because it is the first exclusive on that I want to play. There is zero, and I mean zero on that system I feel warrants a $400 purchase until then and after that I really hope something else comes because I see nothing until Uncharted 4 in 2015. Rinslowe Not sure it’s a fair call to ask for that level of consistency. Or this close after Kart has been released. The next couple of titles Hyrule Warriors and Bayo 2 need to move a couple of systems. That’s for sure. And they’ll likely give Kart and other first party titles a small kick as well. But we all know they’re not going to sell millions of hardware units. At the end of the day, Wii U does need better hardware sales. matthew garcia I think it’s fair cuz it’s Nintendo. One of the most successful companies ever. Big consistent sales should be there standard. Fiercedietymelkor Nintendo is a decently sized company, it doesn’t really match Apple, Google, Microsoft, or bigger companies like that. Officer Raichu its more closer to sony though 🙂 Fiercedietymelkor That’s true but only because Sony had been floundering for quite awhile. Now, it looks like Sony is set to rebound majorly. jjbredesen If it can sell like it is doing now on a weekly basis, then i agree it does not need to do better, but i think it will slip a bit here and there between releases. Still going to be better than last year, thats for sure, so i am not really that worried about sales anymore. Rinslowe Yeah, better than last year is something I’m betting everyone in the comment section could universally agree with. So true. jjbredesen Yeah, and if the sales can stay around what they are now, or a bit lower i think Wii U will be profitable, and in the holiday i expect a large burst in sales since Smash will launch, and a lot of kids will not get a Wii U until xmas MK8 will also make an impact, so this year looks really good, Hyrule Warriors should sell a lot in Japan, and in the west it will do better than most people think, Dyansty warrior fans and Zelda fans are excited,s so i think it could sell well. X will do well, but i am not that sure about Bayo, could do well, but the fanbase for that game is not that large, but its still enough to keep sales from falling to much until smash, all Wii U needs is more 3rd party games to fill the gaps. Rinslowe I think it’s fair to say Nintendo are already profiting from each system sold. Most media outlets are estimating the consoles attach rate is close to 5 titles to every system sold. I worked it out to be around 3.5 +. There’s really only been one notable price reduction since launch if I remember correctly (early adopter so…). And Reggie has gone on record, before the major price drop and stated that at that time, they currently made money on each unit sold with one title. With economy of scale beginning to work in their favour due to demand and a couple of other breaks, it’s totally reasonable to assume they’re profitable again. Remember they make their money in the software. As the developer and the publisher. Still, just not sure that would be enough given the overall performance this year to allow them to post a profit for the year. Probably not. They’re still working backward and recuperating loses incurred. But it’s still a positive if sales can be consistent enough in the long run… jjbredesen Yeah, it should be profitable, and if the attach rate is that high, then yes it already should in theory be profitable. Will be interesting to see if they gain a profit this quarter, but as you say they have a lot of “rebuilding” to do, so not sure, but by the end of the year i am positive they will. Fiercedietymelkor Yea they can make the Wii u profitable, it probably is already, but they’re not going to do anywhere near Wii numbers. I’m guessing that they would have liked to be profitable and to have retained their Wii numbers in terms of hardware sales as well. Rinslowe Do they need Wii no’s on profitability though? More profit is the name of the game. Sure. But profitable is still a job well done… Fiercedietymelkor Like I said profitability plus Wii numbers is far better than profitability plus less than gamecube numbers. Rinslowe I think after 3 years straight losses. Nintendo will probably be happy for whatever they can get in terms of posting profits. Jonathan Robitaille I wonder what the profit margin will be for Amiibo. I think those will fly off shelves for collection purposes alone. It might help push them to profitability faster. Time will tell Rinslowe I dunno. But one thing is for certain. They’ll be making money off every one sold from day one… How many Amiibos they sell? Couldn’t say. bistricky I have been pro amiibo since it was first announced. I call it a wildcard because it offers huge potential, while not guaranteed. I think its a clever move by Nintendo though. I can just imagine how these amiibo’s will suddenly enter mainstream media through shows like in the States “Good Morning America” and they show how these small toys work with the Wii U gamepad. If things fall into place I don’t think we will hear this Christmas that the hot toy is the Wii U, rather the hot toy is the amiibo which works on the Wii U (which is a hopeful imagination) but like I said that is why I see the amiibo as a wildcard. Cheers 😀 Gamingisfun I will say this in all fairness I agree with most people out there. I will say also I was upset with Nintendo cause they had the chance to really go for the money. Smash is a great game but to me not a really system seller. H Warriors is the exact same thing almost to terms of Smash and its just a form of that really. No really single player game coming out. My most disappointing this was they didn’t announce any REMAKES what so ever!!! That would have been perfect to fill up the gaps this is year in 2014. I believe Captain toad game should have been a DLC for Mario world. They just did that so they could have a quote game out. Its sad. Lets face it Zelda want be out until holiday 2015 . Look at the track record on that. 3ds games accnouncements was not great. I believe Nintendo does not have a lot of people working on these games. It just feels like o come really. For me they didn’t feel in the gaps with remakes or some of them. They didn’t justify with DLC content instead they did captain toad as a game so they could get something else in cause they had nothing. Nintendo has not made a single player game in forever. Mario party 10 next year come on! perfect for the holiday. No they went with toad? Plus no DLC for Mariokart. plus no new announcements for gamecube games coming to the wii u. The little stuff matters! Jonathan Robitaille I disagree about Captain Toad. The Toad levels in SM3DW were obviously a hit. People enjoyed that and I believe Nintendo will bring enough quality, levels, and polish to justify a stand alone game. New Super Luigi was essentially the same game as NSMBU except using Luigi so that being a DLC makes sense to me. Captain Toad looks to be much more than the scant levels seen in SM3DW. I really think Captain Toad and Splatoon will be much better than some think and as more and more is revealed the hype will build. As far a no remakes or lack of games. You have to remember that we are not even in July yet. There may be several Nintendo Directs still to air where they can announce games. They did it last year. In fact, I believe there were 15 Nintendo Directs last year so the precedent has been set for that to occur. I firmly believe we will not only be getting a remake of a Zelda (Majora’s Mask) or Mario (Mario Sunshine) as well as a new game announcement. If I am wrong than I will join your camp and be very disappointed. Gamingisfun I wish they would make DLCs (more of them) They are sometimes to sercretive about what they are doing. It does worry about there remakes and DLCs. I think splatoon looks fun but not a system seller. You know when wii came out they had super Mario galaxy right off the bat. I do think they need more people working on this games. I read an article on the guy who made smash – he even admits he needs more helps. THey people sony and mircosoft have more more help and more and more studios. To me they didn’t captilized on the good on E3 2015 , 2015 lol – We need the now I guess…. When batman arkham knight comes out it will be a big big blockbuster as the same for Last of Us and Uncharted. I want that big blockbuster for the wii u. Hyrule and smash are very similar – splatoon looks great but not a system seller. Smash looks great some will buy the system but some will say I want that big blockbuster game (single player). Overall – they need content and more of it. They need to stop playing games with us and say after E3 ok there is more to come with great surprises. We really haven’t had that big big shocker as of yet. For the past 3 years they haven’t shocked me out of my shoes. We knew what they were announcing at this years E3 no new news besides star fox (WHICH I LIKE) but no trailer no nothing – I believe the trailer for Zelda was to short. Sony and Microsoft have DLCS, great online, great games, blockbuster games that are coming out. I believe Batman Arkham knight will be the game of the year! just by what I have seen and heard. I hope Nintendo gets that I do. Not multiplayer but single player blockbuster. I love mulpty plats but come on. We know Zelda wont be out until holiday 2015 look at the records greengecko007 I see Bayonetta 2 having a much better chance at succeeding on the Wii U than Hyrule Warriors. The original Bayonetta sold nearly twice as many copies as the more recent Dynasty Warriors games. I’m confident Hyrule Warrios will sell well in Japan, but outside of that it seems pretty iffy. Rinslowe Yeah, I wouldn’t want to try my hand at predicting either of those titles for the west. I’ll be watching an waiting… Well actually I’ll be playing them mostly. 🙂 greengecko007 Of course, it’s all speculation right now. But between looking at past sales, and the fact that Bayonetta 2 will also include the original for free, I see that as the more enticing purchase for most action game fans. Rinslowe Sure. I was really just speaking of a singular viewpoint. My own. In the west Bayo 2 is probably going to outperform Hyrule Warriors. I dunno. Really no idea how these two games will do for our tastes. Only that both games have one confirmed sale here. Haha.. 🙂 jjbredesen True, and with it being bundles with Bayo 1, it should move a decent amount of units, i think there is more hype around Hyrule Warriors though, so it give the impression that more people want to buy it, lets not forget there is the Zelda fanbase to, so will be interesting to see how they do, think they will sell about the same, but only time will tell. Donno much about Bayotnetta so perhaps it will sell really good. greengecko007 That’s a good point, and one I’d strongly agree with. Hyrule Warriors has more hype behind because of the coverage from magazines like famitsu. It’s kind of like how Sakurai has kept Smash Bros. talked about for over year by releasing updates and screenshots on miiverse, which in turn get covered on major websites. jjbredesen Yeah Sakurai has done a fantastic job in promoting Smash, and the trailers he makes are fantastic, he also directed and edited the fight between Reggie and Iwata at E3, so he is a very capable individual when it comes to PR. Rinslowe ” he also directed and edited the fight between Reggie and Iwata at E3″ There’s a nice bit of trivia for the day. I didn’t know that. Was a pretty nice surprise seeing that scene… jjbredesen Yeah i loved it! After all the Reggie vs Iwata talk it was the best thing ever. And it gave us a lot of great gifs xD Officer Raichu hyrule warriors japan? greengecko007 I think that is very possible, and likely what will happen. Fred I’ll buy Hyrule Warriors, but not Bayonnetta 2. Granted I’m only 1 person: we’ll soon see what the masses do. Officer Raichu did you know mk wii sold more because of christmas time(only sold 4 million in 3-4 months)? so it could be big this christmas for mk8 Rinslowe I think that’s a fair call as well. They likely throw a decent few MK8 bundles out there as well as Smash for the holidays. And software should get a boost as well for those picking up a Wii U with Smash. Dimitri Theodosakis I Expect Following Sales for Game/Hardware (May 30-June 27) 1.5 Million/500k=Total: 2 Million I Expect Following Sales for Game/Hardware (May 30-July 30) 2.2 Million/1.2 Million=Total: 3.4 Million jjbredesen Yeah, i think that sounds just about right. Mercurio2054 they backdown in Japan Fiercedietymelkor What do you mean? Officer Raichu if it can last untill august(hyrule warriors japan release) then i think we could be golden Fiercedietymelkor Japan isn’t really pushing any major numbers console wise for anyone. Even if it maintained 10k a week for the rest of the year, it would not be a huge dent. FutureFox Impressive even with the complaints. Officer Raichu you know putting mk8 with the mario bros u bundle actually does well look at gamestop Jason Polygon: …but the chart says it will only sell 1.2 million in it’s lifetime. Capt. Smoker *adjusts glasses* *gets out calculator* now lets settle down and work this out, upon Mario Kart 8s release, there have been 24536534@#$@$ active Wii U members online currently playing Monster Hunter, we subtract 1332478éäèèù from this total from the trolls, subtract 3465455œä6è for the people playing offline on Mario 3D World, add 535597ùöç to the people playing casual games, subtract the wafters 75757555éè6é add the pachters 5545654ë, we’re left with 1.2 million life time units for Mario Kart 8, did anybody understand alk of that?, nah neither did I cause Polygon are idiots. Rinslowe “add the pachters” Hahaha… Classic XD Roadkill409 I am surprised that Polygon would even put out a chart knowing that lifetime sales of Wii U are surely not going to be stagnate at 6.17M. Seems like very bad guessing using math. jjbredesen That chart is old 😛 Fiercedietymelkor I guess it’s bound to sell when there’s not much else on the system. Roadkill409 There are more than enough games on the Wii U. Maybe none that you like, but there plenty of games. Fiercedietymelkor I mean that have released recently. Obviously there are other games but the video game industry like movies is very much about the now. Roadkill409 Once again, I believe your statement is only partly true. I am not convinced that the video game industry and the movie industry can be compared one to one. Yes, they are both in the entertainment business, but people play games and people watch movies. Very different. Especially with the dawn of the digital download age and Virtual Console type offerings, games will and have already shown that they can have a longer life span. Now games can be stored forever on a digital store and then be discounted and then downloaded easily years after they are off the shelf. So the old idea that games are dead once they are off the store shelf is starting to be eroded away. Although you do have a point, newer games will get the headlines (this is true for any industry not just movies or video games) and sell larger amounts quickly. Talking about old games making money, I bet any smaller game studios would love the income stream generated from one old game, Super Mario Brothers. Fiercedietymelkor Yes video games have somewhat long legs sometimes, so do movies though. Movies have digital downloads and rentals just like games. There’s not much different there. In fact, you can look at some movies and see that they might do better or well after being in theaters through rentals and such as well. Roadkill409 You are right. And I do see some cross over, but I just see them as two very different forms of entertainment. Movies are very passive. I could be sick as a dog and still watch a movie. Whereas video games, at least good one, are active and require you to play an active role. You play games, you watch movies. Even books require more mental work than movies. Fiercedietymelkor Yea they are different in those terms just not in the terms I was talking about. Roadkill409 if you are talking about the digital element, then I agree, but I think that is where the comparison ends. vexedpython movie studios don’t make money after its been out so long only the publishing house that supplys the stores. same thing with books the author stops making money after they sell the rights for mass printing in paper back. if you bought a movie at Walmart I don’t think paramount got any of your money. I could be wrong though as im not expert but if true then there is a big difference since N will still get money on mk8 when its selling still in 3 yrs. MerryBlind . Except Nintendo is the exception to the rule. Nintendo games sell well for years because they’re actually top quality titles. Personally I always take quality over quantity in life. Not sure about you. Fiercedietymelkor Nintendo’s games aren’t any better than a lot of other studios’ games. MerryBlind . Never said no other studios make good games. It’s just that very few studios release such polished titles as Nintendo on a regular basis. Nintendo consistently release near-flawless games, both from a technical and design point of view. Nintendo games ARE better than a lot of other studios, whether you like their games or not. Roadkill409 That is a subjective answer. But I would argue that few games, even top tier 3rd party games, historically even come close to the depth and quality that most Nintendo games have. vexedpython there are some that may make games that are equaly fun but I do think N should get some credit for the time they spend on ironing out their games. I mean other studios have made similar games to N titles but you don’t see weird glitches in their games(at least I have never seen Marios head fly off or crawl around like a animal(red dead reference) dev teams that work with them say they are often told to slow down where others have told them to speed up. Rinslowe What a winning comment.Yet another lame cover account… It’s just a set of no’s and gamer’s talking the turkey. Relax. Fiercedietymelkor Is there something inaccurate about what I said massa? Rinslowe Inaccurate? I guess yes. Is there anything that makes a title bound to sell and sell successfully based on there being a lack of other titles to sell? Not sure they’re really related. Also I’m sorry, but I’m not familiar with the term “massa”. But in order to avoid a feud I’ll adjust my side first. Have a nice one mate. 🙂 Fiercedietymelkor When you’re the only one selling water in a desert you’re going to sell a lot. Rinslowe No I’m sorry that doesn’t really relate in the same way either. Although I enjoyed the analogy. Fiercedietymelkor It most certainly relates. Rinslowe I respect your opinion on the matter… 🙂 Fiercedietymelkor Not only that but the people buying that water will think it’s the best water they’ve ever had. Rinslowe Okay… Roadkill409 this might have some truth. Rinslowe If we’re talking about water only, yeah. Otherwise it assumes most gamer’s live in a bubble and aren’t already familiar with what a popular or decent franchise is doing. Not every game can sell just because there aren’t any other games to sell. There has to be interest already… Roadkill409 That is true, but it has happened in the past that sub par games have sold really well because either there was few other options or the hype of the game and history of a series is good. This conversation might have moved from being specific into general terms. Whatever my opinion about MK8 is, the game will sell well and for a long time. Rinslowe I can accept that. But it doesn’t accurately describe the situation with Kart though really does it. Most people already know what it’s all about. Not to mention. It’s not really a certainty generally speaking to reaching that conclusion based on a few isolated examples in the past. In order to be applicable here, Kart would need to be that random title no-one knew about. And the situation with games selling regardless due to no other games to sell having a consistent track record… Roadkill409 Off the top of my head without much research, the only one I can think of is Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. that would fit your description. Rinslowe Yeah I guess. Roadkill409 But we are talking about MK8 and it selling well on the Wii U. I don’t think there is anyone on this planet that thought this game would not sell well, whether it was the first or last game produced for the Wii U Rinslowe Well at least that makes two of us…. Fiercedietymelkor People also know what water is and what it tastes like. I kind of get what you’re saying, but at the same time being the biggest release in 7 months certainly isn’t hurting it, you have to admit that at least. Rinslowe The real question is, would it have been any different? Historically speaking Kart has always been a popular selling title. Probably not the best game to use in that sense… Roadkill409 No. The game is going to sell well. The only way for the game to not sell well, would be for the game to have totally been a bomb. And I think most people would say that the game was not a total bomb. Rinslowe I think quite the opposite. Most people (who’ve played it anyway) would agree it “is” the bomb… And yeah, the game is going to sell well regardless. That wasn’t a very fair question from me to him, truthfully. Roadkill409 Maybe it is “the bomb” but it’s not “a bomb” 🙂 But to be totally honest, I was not as thrilled with it as I had hoped. I really, really liked MK Wii, but I am having a very hard time getting into MK8 like I did with MK Wii. That kind of makes me a little sad. Rinslowe Yeah I can see how that would… I’m the other way round. But that’s just how it is I guess. 🙂 Roadkill409 Did you like MK Wii? Rinslowe I did like it. But I didn’t “love” it. To me Kart 8 is the more polished of the two. But that’s my opinion. My wife likes MK Wii more as well. Roadkill409 I guess I am not too surprised by your answer. From the few people I have talked to, in general, if they really really like MK Wii, they are finding it tough to really like MK8, but if they were just ok with MK Wii, they really, really like MK8. vexedpython yea everyone finds a version they grew attached to. I mean look at all the ppl who swear by double dash….then all the ppl who hate double dash. Roadkill409 There is absolutely no question that MK8 looks great. And it is better than 98% of all other kart racing games. That’s why I can’t understand why I am not getting into it. It was a day one midnight release for me. Maybe it is because they took out my favorite character Dry Bones :-). But even my kids only play it when their friends are over now. But I still think it is a very impotent release for Nintendo, maybe their most important! The Wii U is my only current gen system so I want to see it do well. I trust Nintendo and I know it will do just fine. vexedpython you may just have to get use to the new feel. anytime a game make a adjustment to the way things work and move it takes awhile to enjoy it as much as you did the others that you are use to. this is even more true if you were realy really good at the old one and not as good at the new one yet. those that haven’t played wii and only 8 wont have that problem(like me I didn’t own a wii last gen so never played mk wii) Roadkill409 I do keep play it. Like I said, I really enjoyed MK Wii. So I really want to like it. One thing that gets me is I can’t see around corners. I feel like my guy is always looking straight. It feels like I am turning blind most of the time. Maybe I have not memorized the tracks well enough yet, but I don’t seem to remember having the feeling that I could not “see” where I was turning. it feels like the screen needs to be wider or my view needs to be set back a little farther. of course just my opinion. But I do keep playing it, it is Mario Kart after all! vexedpython I can see that. I have the same problem. dident know it was a new issue as I faced it in a lot of other racing games like need for speed. but I figured it was because Im bad at racing games lol. anyway maybe ill give the wii version a try since the u is backward compatible. im sure there is a lot of wii titles I should give a try to. Rinslowe It’s already doing fine… Roadkill409 And despite the naysayers, the Wii U will continue to do so. Fiercedietymelkor Thank you. It doesn’t necessarily say anything to the quality of Mario kart, but I think that if you have been wanting a decent have for your Wii u, Mario kart is the only major release for 7 months. Roadkill409 Nintendo has always, with a few exceptions, always sold quality games that sell for much longer than most average games. I would say DKC tropical freeze would quality. Roadkill409 In no way is the Wii U “a desert” of games. Daniel Gonzalez Of course not. Who would sell games in a desert? Roadkill409 Sega, the Nomad. Daniel Gonzalez Good point. Rinslowe Whoa don’t go there. There’s plenty of CoD fans in the middle east… Daniel Gonzalez Well played. Fiercedietymelkor Of major releases on a regular basis yes it is. I think that’s impossible to deny with a straight face. Roadkill409 You are mostly referring to 3rd parties, but to be totally honest, I do not buy a Nintendo ever expecting great 3rd party games. 3rd parties just don’t seem to understand the Nintendo audience. Otherwise they would sell like hotcakes. Look at Skylanders. Fiercedietymelkor No I’m not, I’m talking about major releases from anyone. Roadkill409 I think Donkey Kong would argue with your 7 month time frame. Fiercedietymelkor Donkey Kong was a major release? MerryBlind . DK sure is a major release. It’s a masterpiece. If people don’t see tha, it’s not Nintendo that’s at fault, but our fucked-up CoD generation. Fiercedietymelkor A major release has nothing to do with your perceived quality of the game. Ftl is an amazing game, arguably better than a lot of major games, but by no means was it a major release. Donkey Kong falls in that same boat, it’s probably a decent platforms like dkc returns was, but it’s not a major release. Roadkill409 Simply not true. MerryBlind . It’s not “my” perceived quality of the game. It’s the absolute unamous agreement of players and critics alike. Tropical Freeze is a platforming masterpiece. Fact. It’s a big Nintendo franchise, therefore it’s a major release for a Nintendo platform. I really don’t understand how someone wouldn’t consider a main entry in a franchise such as Donkey Kong to not be a ‘major release’. vexedpython well gamespot didn’t like it…..but its gamespot so who cares. im with you I don’t see how it doesn’t meet major release standards I remember big posters for it at gamestop and everything. MerryBlind . It’s also an “absolute unanimous agreement from players” that Gamespot’s review (and reviews in general) was complete crap. 😉 vexedpython that’s for sure I don’t even listen to then anymore. just makes you mad. Fiercedietymelkor Yes if your definition of a major release is any game made by Nintendo sure. MerryBlind . Didn’t say that. I said every ‘big’ franchise from Nintendo is a major release for a ‘Nintendo’ platform. DK is a major Nintendo franchise. I guess by your logic inFamous Second Son wasn’t a major release for PS4 since it’s not as big as Uncharted or God of War? Or that Fable isn’t a big release for Xbox because it’s not as big as Halo or Gears of War? Rinslowe I’m seeing a pattern of stereotypical generalisations from that one… Hmm. vexedpython can we get your definition of a major release please. I think that would clear a lot up. Fiercedietymelkor One that has a ton of mindshare and marketing and sales etc. Donkey Kong wasn’t that. vexedpython mindshare? srry not familiar with the term could you enlighten me? as for marketing I saw plenty of that for dk. sales where weak because wii u ownership is weak. I would image you would count watch dogs as a major release yes? well if it had come out on wii u still it would have had weak sells for the same reason so I don’t think that should be part of wht makes it a major release. I think its based on how much work was put into it and how much the company is leaning on the title. ubisoft doesn’t expect just dance to sell on the level watchdogs does so that is major for them. N expects dk to sell well and It would have like returns did if there where more owners. Roadkill409 Even my mom knows who Donkey Kong is. You could even ask the Williams sisters and the Manning brothers and they could tell you who Donkey Kong is. Donkey Kong has been in the American vocabulary since the 80’s. matthew garcia Honestly I thought Rayman was better and since u bring up critics Rayman has even better scores then dk vexedpython you know I was really looking forward to rayman. me and my wife like it but its just…..I don’t know the gameplay feels a little to face paced and rushed. the difficulty is there in a way but you come right back when you die which made it feel less like I had achieved something. that’s just me though I can tell its a high quality game and like I said its fun just not as fun as other platformers I have played. MerryBlind . I haven’t played Rayman yet, I probably will at some point, but I don’t know, I bought Origins on PS3 when it came out, and while I did have fun with it, and really appreciated the art and how polished it was (especially coming from Ubisoft who tend to rush their games a bit too much) I got bored of it really quickly, it just didn’t keep my attention like a good old Mario or Donkey Kong does. Is Legends THAT much better than Origins? Should I buy it even though I haven’t finished Origins? MerryBlind . I can’t say, I haven’t played Legends yet, but I don’t know, I bought Origins on PS3 back when it came out and while I did have fun with it, and really appreciated the artwork and how polished it was (especially coming from Ubisoft who tend to rush their games most of the time), I got bored of it really quickly. It just didn’t keep my attention like a good old Mario or Donkey Kong does. Is Legends that much better than Origins? Should I buy it even though I didn’t finish Origins? Or is it more of the same? bistricky I really liked DKC:TF …… and I agree with you about Rayman Legends on Wii U ….. a superb game and deserving of it’s 92 metascore ….. it is rare air when a game gets a metascore over 90 (with 30+ critical reviews). Roadkill409 It is always nice when a company can take a really good game and make it great. I wish that happened more often with sequels. Roadkill409 yes. I know many people who really wanted and enjoyed that game. Donkey Kong is a major Nintendo Brand. Rinslowe Sales no’s have been in it’s favour in past installments… vexedpython yea but when there is 3rd party games I prefer the ones on wii u vs my pc because I love the gamepad and I don’t want to turn on my pc….oky maybe that’s not the best reason. Roadkill409 I can totally agree. If there was a 3rd party game that I wanted I hope it is on the Wii U, that is my preferred system. Minecraft, my kid would really like that. Rinslowe Minecraft is such a no brainer, imo. I mean the gamepad. It screams adapt me to the gamepad somehow. I think most of us would buy minecraft again if it made it’s way to Wii U. Nintendo better be announcing that one soon… Roadkill409 This is one game that if Nintendo wanted to showcase how the Gamepad could be used properly on a big scale would be an ideal choice. Most of the time I believe Nintendo can see well into the future, but this is the one game that I thought could have put the Wii U on the map right from the start. Too bad that other company had rights locked up when they did. Do you have any insight why Nintendo might be the last console to get this? I would buy it again, if only to have my kid play it on a Nintendo brand instead of Sony. Rinslowe Totally yeah. And a few little tricks due to the gamepad would have set it apart as well… Still, it’s never impossible to imagine it makes it. The timing would be still quite ripe if done within the next 12 months. vexedpython he dident say anything. seemed pretty darn calm. Roadkill409 And I just saw Mario Kart Wii still selling at Target for $39.99. I am pretty sure that Mario Kart 8 will be selling for years to come. People who don’t even know they want a Wii U will buy Mario Kart. It will sell and sell for a long time. vexedpython yea that’s how N titles work. they burn for a long time cus rather you buy it today or 4 years latter you still want a major Mario title and a mk and a ssb with your N system so they sell over long periods of time. vs most other games you just want the newest version off and their price drops after half a year cus they only got heavily bought the first few mouths. kinda like watchdogs, sells great now but in a year there will be other open city style games and it wont be bought as much so the price will drop Roadkill409 exactly, and there are literally countless other examples that can be given. Mostly 3rd party. Not to say that they are bad games, but it seems like 3rd parties are of a different mindset or shareholders to please. Fiercedietymelkor Also because Nintendo systems are lacking in other games. So what do you get when you get a Nintendo system? Well, Nintendo games of course. Roadkill409 The exact reason anyone buys a Nintendo and has since 1985. I know I bought my NES for SMB and duck hunt. vexedpython that hasn’t always been the case and even when it wasn’t my comment was still true that their games would sell years latter and other wouldn’t. either way what you said is still not very accurate since there are plenty of games on wii u. I already own 12 of them and I only owned 8 during my ps3 lifespan. then again I work 12 hrs a day and don’t have as much time to play as some but as for me I have a huge backlog on my wii u to play and still others I want to buy to play. haven’t had so much fun with a system in a long time. Roadkill409 I totally agree. It was the Wii that got me back into gaming. I took a huge break from playing video games after the 32/64 bit era. But it was Nintendo that, I thought, brought the fun back into gaming. Of course that is only my opinion. palomino blue good Sdudyoy Well, I finally got this game, been busy moving so I couldn’t get it before, but I don’t have internet at the house with the Wii U, so I haven’t got a chance to play online yet. ActivesiN Polygon can go cry in a corner with their bs prediction Mario Kart 8 2 Million in a month is amazing! FutureFox I just had to do this. Directly from Polygon. “If Nintendo’s console predictions are correct, and assuming the average of 20.37 percent remains, Mario Kart 8 sales would reach 1.99 million units by the end of March 2015.” Just another reason not to take statistics as gospel. Rinslowe Amen guest I actually thought there would be way more units sold by now, since almost every wii u owner was waiting for this game, the fact that you are getting another free game from club nintendo, and the bundle with the wheel and wii mote is really nice. Anyway it´s impressive, and maybe my standards were too high. Fiercedietymelkor Well I wish they offered buy one get one free among all of the games offered free with Mario kart. I would’ve picked up wind waker hd and maybe pikmin 3, but I really didn’t want Mario kart. Thedude Wait what lol? So all 5 wii u owners bought this game 2 million times? Wow you’re all desperate Rinslowe Must be, must be. Hard to argue with that logic. Now you’ve been fed. You can sit down and let your dinner settle… 00EpicGamer00 So, according to my calculations. Each one of those “5 people” bought 400,000 copies of Mario Kart 8? The logic is not strong with this one. Perhaps you should of stayed in school? The grammar isn’t strong with this one either. Can’t you do anything right? greengecko007 Thedude is an obvious, and authentic, troll (something some peoplein this community have a hard time identifying correctly) whose posts are simply made to insinuate fanboy responses. There’s no point in replying… For future reference though, I’d leave grammar out of an argument. Nobody is capable of perfect English all the time, and your own comment has incorrect use of the word ” of”. 00EpicGamer00 I realize that but it’s sometimes hard to refrain from responding to a troll like this. Besides, I thought a troll is suppose to make people angry. That’s obviously not working for that person. Also, (please pardon my stupidity) but what exactly is the other from of…of. I don’t recall ever learning about other versions… greengecko007 I know, and I don’t claim to be any better. I’m guilty of it also. Your comment should read ” should have* stayed in school longer”. It’s a very common mistake that stems from the fact that the contraction “should’ve” sounds like “should of”. 00EpicGamer00 Oh, okay. I have learned that before. Thank you. 🙂 Rinslowe Just for the record. It’s pretty obvious that Fiercedeitymelkor/ Harkeness and Phaedruss are the same guy. .. Thedude English is my third language 00EpicGamer00 Clearly. TheAnimal Fleming You people can ruin a wet let nintendo have something AM Real This is great news…I got my copy on launch day but dosen’t this mean that Nintendo lost out on profit for 2 million games also? What with the club Nintendo bonus and all… Fiercedietymelkor Yea pretty much. Although you could argue that only a percentage actually got their free game depending on how inconvenient or not it is to redeem it. Rinslowe Redeeming the free title was very easy, very convenient and helped motivate the situation more on account of being….. Free. Fiercedietymelkor I don’t know how easy it was or not, I was just thinking about some special promotions like rebates where only a fraction of the people eligible actually redeem it. So I guess let’s assume that all 2 million people got their free game, that’s 2 million free games that Nintendo made no money on. Rinslowe That’s one way to look at it. Lol… Roadkill409 It was super easy to redeem. AM Real True…not everyone who bought MK8 may have cashed in on the free game…but I would find it hard to believe that any significant amount of ppl fall into that category…there were system errors the first couple of days when I tried to get my free download code but everything eventually worked out…it’s a pretty easy process especially if you already have a Club Nintendo account. I’ll be more interested in next months numbers cause ppl who buy MK8 after June are buying the game just for the game….no financial loss on Nintendo’s side either Shootdatrupee!… Those promotional games arn’t really moving massive numbers anymore, so… AM Real $60 bucks is still 60 bucks…times that by 2 million and you basically negate the Mario Kart sales…I know they definitely wouldn’t have pushed as many of the promo games without MK8 but as great a gain that the simple numbers look on paper I don’t think it balanced Nintendo’s books like many ppl believe Allvalve With 2 million sold I would speculate that 1.8 million went to existing users, and 200,000 were Wii U MK8 bundles. When MK8 battle arena is announced we should see another healthy upswing. Fiercedietymelkor I think that’s about right given the original ratio that was figured out when they announced 1.2 million sold. Pilu Skifte Grønvold SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY THIS GAME!!! Yoshifan3 meanwhile, watch dogs is still selling like hot cakes and is now almost 5 million. MerryBlind . Meanwhile, everybody bitch about how much Watch Dogs suck and how incredible Mario Kart 8 is. Fiercedietymelkor Honestly the praise around Mario kart is excruciatingly forced. MerryBlind . Why do you think that? Mario Kart is a beloved franchise that a lot of people have very fond memories of, like most Nintendo franchises. This new one is nigh-perfect except for the Battle Mode and some missing characters. It looks gorgeous, it has great tracks design, it has smooth local and online multiplayer, it sounds great, and above all it’s extremely fun. What’s not to praise? Yoshifan3 its not perfect, and the hype around this game is forced. it will die down very quickly. also watch dogs is a game more fun than MK8 imo. its eating up all my time and ive met many great people on it, sure its got a few bugs, but so does mario kart. Jonathan Robitaille lol Yoshifan3 yes laugh at my opinion. it shows how mature you are and proves most people on this site cant take a opinion that criticizes nintendo. Jonathan Robitaille I was laughing because you went out of your way to inject Watchdogs (a game not on the Wii U yet) and comparing the two totally different experiences to explain your opinion, that’s all. I don’t see how you criticized Nintendo, all you did was point out that the hype would die..as it should. So…so much for your maturity remark and your views on people on this site. vexedpython yes im sure its a good game but I don’t see what it has to do with the article. we should be talking about possible dlc or how many off our friends are now on it. not a completely different game that’s not even out yet for the console. Fiercedietymelkor That’s the thing I don’t have faith that Nintendo will support Mario kart enough. We saw nothing new at all for Nintendoland, something I actually really enjoyed. This is also another thing I was thinking about. If Nintendo is going to have these once a generation games, they should support them the entire generation not only that but they should have a lot more content right out of the gate. vexedpython I think they have a lot of content but most of there value in these kind of games is in the base game and the multiplayer. N puts a lot of work into making games that are fun for local multiplayer and we have yet to see if they will continue to support kart or not. since its their best selling game and they have shown that they can release dlc(the mercadies thing) I think they may. why haven’t they in the past you may ask? well the last gen wasn’t heavy on dlc yet I mean the wii wouldn’t have the internal memory for that. dlc was more of a pc thing last gen and this gen is just getting started so lets see together. oh and I found a huge amount of gameplay in nintendoland a lot of gameplay and the mini games where a whole lot deeper then most other mini games so if a game has everything it needs out the gate does it really need dlc?(for Nland im saying mk8 I hope to see it for) Fiercedietymelkor Sure Nintendo land had a lot in it, but that’s always so much more they could do with it. Expand on the Zelda game add new levels new weapons etc etc. There’s just so much they can do and they just let it die. That was unfortunate. It didn’t help that gamers didn’t give it much chance since it just seemed like another mini game collection. Which it is, but it was great. vexedpython yea it really was. but look at whats on the table from their view. if they take the time to add dlc to it then what are they going to tell all the ppl screaming WHERES MY ZELDA, WHERES MY DK, WHERES MY METRIOD, WHERES MY F-ZERO, WHERES MY MOTHER(some still ask for this), WHERES MY MARIO 64 STYLE MARIO, WHERES MY SUPER MARIO WORLD STYLE MARIO, WHERES MY KIRBY, WHERES MY MK, WHERES MY SMASH BROS, WHERES MY FIREMBLEM CROSSOVER, WHERES MY CONSOLE ANIMAL CROSSING, and so on. they got a lot to do so as sad as it is I don’t think they will have a lot of dlc for a bit on there bundled title. Fiercedietymelkor Well they should’ve had at least one of those games ready, like metroid or fzero to fully show the utility of the gamepad once people had gotten tired of Nintendo land. They still haven’t brought out a single one of those games. vexedpython realy? mk8 is out and so is Mario 3d world. that feels two of the games I mentioned. keep in mind though they where slow to get started because they had never made hd games before. they said themselves that it slowed them down more then they had hoped. but looking at the e3 line up it looks like they are working as hard as they can to get out the games everyone screams for. but if you ask me they don’t need to prove anything with the game pad. its best use for me is when its used for simple things like map management and inventory management. anything else that makes it to involved(like zombie u) and you cant use off screen play. though my faovirte use of it is when games avoid spilt screen in multiplayer by having one person use it and the other use the tv. that’s something N hasent really been doing but some 3rd party games have. I hope they do that to in future games as they make the funniest multiplayer games. Fiercedeitymelkor Mario kart 8 and 3d world don’t show off the gamepad. They aren’t extensions of any Nintendo land counterpart. vexedpython oh I thought you where talking about the games I mentioned that they have to work on. and I don’t know about others but im not looking for them to prove the gamepad I love the gamepad for what It can do just as a system device with things like off screen play, remote use, and simple map/inventory management. anything more and it becomes kinda gimmicy to me. I would rather them just make great games like 3d world and kart and not ruin them by over using the gamepad. though gamepad gyro is great in kart. greengecko007 I’d rather just see a Nintendo Land sequel. Different attractions and online multiplayer would definitely justify a purchase from me, and it would be easier than trying to add that to the original. Rinslowe Nintendo Land was the first title I fired up when getting back to the hotel where I was staying at the time. I was almost conscious of how much I liked it, lol. Not to mention I thought it was stunning seeing the “plaza”? for the first time. A Nintendo universe in HD, able to pan around using the gamepad. I was pretty much sold on account of those experiences found within the game. Sadly, they haven’t been properly realised all that much in fully fledged first party titles. In fact the two most impressive games, which utilise gamepad functionality in successful ways, or three actually – Zombie U, W101 and Deus Ex are third party. One a multiplat, but coming from a guy who was a day one on the original, I felt the gamepad made that game definitive. No sugar coating or “fanboy” logic applied. Just straight up made for it. I do wonder how comparable the Vita – PS3 connection ended up being in the end. Surprisingly little comparisons were made online I thought. Jonathan Robitaille I always considered NLand a ‘showcase’ game for the Wii U. Like Nintendo was trying to duplicate the uniqueness of the gamepad like they did for the Wii with Wii Sports. I game alone so most of that game isn’t geared towards me. I am surprised anyone could get too into it. Maybe I need to revisit as I only tried it briefly when I purchased at launch and sold that copy along with my first Wii U during the game drought early 2013. Jonathan Robitaille or how I can beat the game but as soon as I enter tournaments online I get waxed. I mean, seriously there are some sick players out there that know the shortcuts and perfectly time their special items. It’s really humbling. My best finish is 3rd grrrrrrr bistricky My best on worldwide has been 5th (so far) so I know what you are talking about …. but I have kept practicing on ‘time trials’ and each day I am improving …. and getting close to or surpassing a few of the pre-set times to beat. I am not sure if Wii U Daily Zorpix is still running races for the Wii U Daily community, but if he is, I think I am about ready to compete. vexedpython I finished second once……there was only me and one other guy -_- MerryBlind . I didn’t say it was perfect. I haven’t played Watch Dogs so I can’t say for sure, but I’m 99% sure that it has many more bugs than Mario Kart, given Ubisoft’s track record and what I’ve read and seen about the game, and personally I haven’t come across a single bug in MK8, not a single one. Fiercedietymelkor So what if it has bugs. That doesn’t make a game bad or good. Watch dogs is an open world game with a ton of interactive elements, it’s bound to have bugs. Mario kart is a kart racing game, if they couldn’t make it without bugs that would be very surprising. vexedpython true there is a lot more variables. I look forward to trying watch dogs one day but for me it wont be until it hits a big steam sale later in its life cycle. I just don’t have as much fun with that kinda game as I do with kart or a challenging platformer so im willing to pay full price on them. hey maybe those bugs will be gone by the time I play though. Fiercedietymelkor I got watch dogs fairly cheap for pc on release day, I don’t like paying full price for any games anymore, but I find I’ll get way more out of a watch dogs type game than Mario kart lol. The bugs in watch dogs are nothing that will prevent you from playing the game or finishing it, mostly some funny physics bugs and what not. Daniel Gonzalez I get a kick out of those kinds of bugs. Skyrim was quite hilarious. Especially the failed patches. vexedpython ahh I suppose that’s where we differ. I see myself playing mk8 for many many years to come but watch dogs I will only find a mouth or so of enjoyment with. shows we all find different things interesting in a game. still ill wait to get it for 15$ or below steam will make it happen in a year or so. Fiercedeitymelkor Well not watch dogs specifically but bigger games like the elder scrolls games. I just got open xcom installed, that’s pretty amazing as well. I just don’t get doing the same thing over and over again. vexedpython I love xcom!! remember build satellites like crazy they are more important then anything else!! oh but mk isent the same over and over every race is different for someone who likes it. but most racing games will come across this way just as most sports games will in general. MerryBlind . lol stfu I only talked about bugs because Yoshifan3 mentioned Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8 both having bugs. Fiercedeitymelkor Okie dokie. Daniel Gonzalez I’ve played many open world games. All of them have at least a few bugs here and there. Even if we don’t see them with the naked eye. David Trail Colours coming out now. Building up Watch Dogs and putting Mario Kart 8 down. Mario Kart 8 > any game on PS4/ Xbox One at the moment. vexedpython if its eating up all your time then why are you on a article about mk8 instead of playing it or posting in a article about watchdogs? and with as many systems as watch dogs is on of course it will sell better but who cares we arnt talking about it we are talking about mk Rinslowe Until tonight I hadn’t heard about the concept of Kart’s popularity being forced let alone needing it. Based on past entries I would have thought most people accepted the fact it’s reputation precedes itself in that regard? I would like to know more about this idea. How is the hype around Kart being forced? What makes it more so than other high profile titles? Very interesting… Fiercedeitymelkor It seems like such a nostalgia driven thing rather genuine excitement. I don’t mean from gaming sites, just from comments on the web. Rinslowe How to observe that? I haven’t encountered people speaking abstractly about Kart 8. Most conversations seem to be pretty well defined on what people like about it and what they don’t. You could well be right. But I don’t see it on account of such defined and polarised opinions on the game. Going by that opinion, would it then be logical to assume the reason there are always a high no’ of players online, only indicative of either nostalgia or due to a lack of other titles to play online? That would be a hard sell, imo I think it really is, in the practical sense a well received game. I think that it’s also fair to assume a minority of people would feel otherwise. Jonathan Robitaille I’m thinking we have a new troll. They keep springing up. Kart is just quality. You’d almost have to hate Nintendo to not like that game. It’s what gaming is all about. Fun. Co op. graphics, gameplay, everything. MerryBlind . Yeah I’m still not sure if he’s a troll… Fiercedietymelkor Why do I have to hate Nintendo to dislike Mario kart? That’s absurd, total fanboy logic. vexedpython you of course have a point but lets not start throwing the fanboy/troll talk all over the place. btw off subject but what N products do you enjoy? I can see why you don’t like kart if your not into that kind of game but since you mentioned others I am wondering which. Fiercedeitymelkor Sorry but if people can throw around troll left and right I can say fanboy a couple of times. I don’t like either terms but they do have their place, though much more rarely than they are commonly used now. vexedpython ahh your more off a eye for a eye then a turn the other check I see. I find the latter to be more effective myself perhaps we should try not sinking ourselves when those around us throw a insult? after all you seem nice enough in other post im sure if you explain yourself more peacefully they could better understand your view. Rinslowe You always play yourself out too early. It must be a force of habit. Of course no-one needs to love Nintendo to like or love any game or vice versa. But calling out people with the fanboy logic line so soon… Perhaps you’ll adapt to that one on the next try. No-one is fooled. The only person making a consistent fool of himself is you. Having been caught out on that one recently elsewhere I guess this is unbridled brand frustration at play. Get well soon, G. Fiercedeitymelkor I’m sorry but that’s exactly what the guy said. “You’d almost have to hate Nintendo to not like that game.” Anybody can see that that is the statement of a fan boy. Jonathan Robitaille a fanboy defends everything about their favorite product. I’m very critical of Nintendo when it is warranted. I’m no fanboy. I actually have many controversial feeling about them like I think Iwata needs to go, their VC is atrocious, their mismanagement of resources and name for the Wii U was awful, they either came out with the Wii U too late or stopped supporting the wii too soon or both, they don’t have blu ray playback, the Wii U memory is too little, their accessories are too pricey, etc etc. A troll will turn good tidings and positive press into a negative. Either by talking down Nintendo or talking up its competitors, they will somehow make it seem like the Wii U can do no right. Claiming there is nothing to play on the Wii U when there is an enormous amount of games on it is a sure sign of trolling. Claiming arguably the best Kart game Nintendo has made is boring and safe is another. Nobody is fooled btw bistricky Well said and a fine example of the two labels being discussed. btw, I didn’t buy a Wii U until November 2013 because I thought it was still a Wii ….. those who decided on that name I am sure regret it every day. vexedpython he is true in this. you can like N games without liking kart it was a odd statement. though I personally would avoid the common attack lines of gaming sites like fanboy and troll myself. either way though he can like other games from them without liking kart. he seems like he likes Nland good enough which is a great title to be sure. Rinslowe I never thought to imply that either… Of course I’m as open as it gets in that regard. It was in direct response to his quick fire use of the term “fanboy logic” which was the dead giveaway for me. And I said as much in the first reply to him… vexedpython this may sound off subject and it is but you have a really nice writing style in your post, maybe you should think about writing someday if you don’t already because you have wonderful sentience structure. Rinslowe Thanks those are kind words. Not sure I deserve the sentiment. But thanks again for the compliment. Fiercedeitymelkor Why get so defensive over one negative opinion? Rinslowe You could say that. But as you no doubt am aware, this site has its fair share of trolls. It seems like your new accounts happen to spring up only in certain places where the likelihood of positive Nintendo commenting is more likely to propagate. Do you really think people aren’t on to this one already? Your very first comment here in this thread tonight. The first comment you posted with this account pretty much proves you’re commenting under false pretense in order to bait Nintendo fans and supporters into arguments of opinion… “I guess it’s bound to sell when there’s not much else on the system”. It’s kinda sad that you continue to pour this much energy into concern trolling the threads, so often. It’s a head scratch it really is… Rinslowe Obviously. They always give themselves away too early. And it’s painfully obvious again that it’s someone here. Who thinks we’re all fanboys, lol…. Lame. oontz “Who thinks we’re all fanboys” This site isn’t all fanboys, it’s actually a lot better than most dedicated platform sites. But there are a few fanboys up in here that come to mind. Rinslowe I can think of a couple… Again, though. Fanboys aren’t causing anyone harm until they start comparing brands… If all they’re doing is expressing themselves then let em go. Trolls on the other hand are just lost and lame and should be put down. The faster the better. oontz I think this is one the best sites with a solid realistic to fanboy ratio. Makes it easier to be a part of this community. Rinslowe Better than most… oontz A lot better. Some site’s comment sections I avoid like the plague. Rinslowe IGN for me is a no go zone… The comment section. The site is fine. greengecko007 That’s precisely why I frequent this site. Much better community like oontz said. IGN is really good at getting coverage, making fun articles and podcasts, and their editors generally seem like great people. But the people that comment on IGN… let’s just say there is a lot of trash… For years it seemed like the comment section was just a lost cause. Rinslowe Exactly. Too much trash in the comment section over there to even bother. But the site itself has always been solid, well informed and mostly up to date. oontz I totally agree. IGN is my go to site for news and info but I never scroll into the comments. Fiercedietymelkor It’s a good kart game. That’s about all you can say. That just isn’t all that interesting. MerryBlind . Ok. Jonathan Robitaille You are very active recently and I haven’t seen you around much. You seem very negative about the Wii U. Are you Harkeness reborn? Just waiting for something remotely positive to come our of your mouth concerning the Wii U. This is after all a Wii U site. Daniel, is this your other account? Seriously, inquiring minds want to know Fiercedietymelkor I signed up to talk on this site. Surely people are allowed to do that right? I’m neither being positive or negative besides why do I have to say positive things if that’s not what I think? I think Mario kart is an ok game, it’s not innovative or original or perfect by any means though. vexedpython no one said you couldn’t be here we only asked why you are here if you don’t like it. I mean I would wonder why someone who doesn’t like ice cream would be in a ice cream shop wouldn’t you? that’s not to say they cant be there by all means have a nice seat and make yourself comfortable. Fiercedietymelkor I have a Wii u therefore I found this site when looking for Wii u news. vexedpython ahh oky then. what do you think of the site so far my friend? srry im the type to consider most friends until I have a reason to think other wise. also what games have you enjoyed on it so far? Fiercedietymelkor I loved Nintendo land I just wish there were some big dlc packs for it like extra attractions and new levels for the existing ones, especially the Zelda attraction, the metroid one and donkey Kong’s crash course. Zombiu was a great idea and I had fun with it though I never finished it. I thought it got unfair reviews. One thing that sticks out regarding the ign review of it was that they criticized it because there were only some drawers and things you could open and only some of them would actually have items in them, yet the last of us is the exact same way in that regard. I got monster Hunter 3 ultimate but I guess was already burnt out on it from paying Tri. I’ve gotten some virtual console games but that’s about it. Might pick up pikmin 3 cheap some day. I got Mario kart from gamefly and I’m getting wind waker any day now from it lol. vexedpython sounds like you got your hands full then. I have playd most of those though I wasent really feeling zombie u.(don’t really like zombie games but I got it cheap) I liked dks crash course myself in Nland and well just about all of it. I find Nland has limitless value if played with others but I could see how it could run dry if played alone. srry I don’t think there will be dlc for it as its already bigger as far as attraction quality and variety then most mini game compilation these games are more for giving you something to test drive the different kinds of games on the system and for quick party style multiplayer. its a good void filler where wii sports once was. wind waker im still player as I never played the original since when I was a kid and gamecube came out my dad said we are getting a ps2 instead cus he wanted a dvd player. I really wanted that gamecube lol. Fiercedietymelkor I’m more of a single player gamer myself. Unfortunately Nintendo hasn’t really brought the games out to show what the Wii u can do besides Nintendo land. vexedpython for those that like multiplayer it has after all that’s what mk8 was for. surprised you like Nland if your a single player guy though. srry if your more into single player you may want to think about a second system N has always made games that are fun to play in a group though their single player games are great once they get there. they are just lower on the list of games to get made(they have a lot of franchises and games to make and someone will always cry that they arnt working on one of the others.) Fiercedeitymelkor I have a pc, ps4, ps3, ps2, dreamcast, etc. Mostly a pc gamer these days. Just finished portal 2, damn if Nintendo could make a game like that but bigger that would be amazing. vexedpython not what they do. you don’t get anywhere by trying to be someone else. if they tried to make the kinds of games other ppl make they would lose their current fanbase and there is no certainty they would gain anther. trust me there would be plenty of fans upset if they said no more Mario. but yes I like pc games as well mainly turn based strategies and some real time but it has to be the right one. Fiercedeitymelkor See this mentality of Nintendo fans is toxic. Nintendo can never try other things because somehow they will lose all their fans over night. Besides when did I say no more Mario? I never said that. vexedpython dident say you did say that. but there is nothing wrong with someone giving their fans what they want. please don’t be hostile I did not mean to come across as toxic. they do try new things within old franchises which is what they need to do to stay popular amongst us that like their games. they can throw a new ip here and there but don’t want them to stop work on major franchises releases to do so. Rinslowe I think Spatoon would disagree and all the gamer’s showing interest in Splatoon equally… FlashFan207 Definitely get Pikmin!!! I seriously did not think I would enjoy that, but it was a blast! Especially after its most recent update which added touchscreen controls. And the environments look just plain gorgeous! Why am I shouting?! Daniel Gonzalez I wouldn’t pay him too much mind. He’s known for going off the deep end. To me, I think Mario Kart 8 is a good game in its own right. While I’m not one of those who will jump out and buy it day one, it will be worth an investment. I”m buying my time, and waiting for a good sale online. Probably get the bundle. David Trail Nothing is worth it for you. Go buy Watch Dogs on PS4. That games is perfect for you. It is buggy and glitchy. oontz Don’t be silly David Fail. David Trail Ok game. You are a fool. PS4 games are ok. Mario Kart 8 is brilliant. oontz There are brilliant games on every platform, wiiu and ps4 included. Don’t be close minded David Fail. David Trail Like what? Nothing on PS4 is better than SM3DW, Pikmin 3 and Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD or DKC TF on PS4 at the moment. PS4 has good games/ okay games but nothing on these titles that I listed for Wii U. oontz “Nothing on PS4 is better than SM3DW, Pikmin 3 and Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD or DKC TF on PS4 at the moment.” That is all a matter of opinion. What one person thinks is better doesn’t trump another persons opinion. Both platforms have great games. Only a close minded gamer would think otherwise. oontz “Nothing on PS4 is better than SM3DW, Pikmin 3 and Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD or DKC TF on PS4 at the moment.” That is all a matter of opinion. What one person thinks is better doesn’t trump another persons opinion. Both platforms have great games. Only a close minded gamer would think otherwise. David Trail What is better on PS4 Watchdogs which is also coming to Wii U? UFC lmao? oontz In your opinion Justin Bieber is probably better. Oh wait that’s not a game. Stop being such a fanboy David Fail. Play games to play games. No one cares what you think is better. Seriously just give it up. David Trail You like Justin Bieber as PS4 is the highest selling console with garbage games. oontz Again if you feel the system has garbage games, why do you own one? Stop being such a fanboy David Fail. bistricky “Harkeness reborn” …. You are actually right. It is Harkeness as a new ID. The same Harkeness who was removed from this website. Rinslowe Is it? Fiercedeitymelkor It seems like it to me, but I guess I just don’t get it. I don’t get people’s excitement for a lot of things though, like the new call of duty, halo, uncharted, or other things like that. vexedpython that’s just life. there will always be games you don’t like that others do. but no one can force you to like it. if you don’t like it then move to something you do. but your comment makes it sound as though they are forcing the genral public which I see no sign of friend. Fiercedeitymelkor That’s not what I meant at all. It’s kind of like when you go to a friend’s house or something for dinner and the food is ok or not very good but you act like you like it and enjoy it because you don’t want to be rude. Rinslowe As people have pointed out. It’s fine to feel that way and draw these kinds of conclusions, based on our own experiences. But at some point we all have to acknowledge what is really happening with the masses and the general reception of the game. And I just don’t see that analogy holding true for the majority of Kart owners. I want to see something that points towards that being even partly applicable in a broad sense, but I just don’t see it… You could be right. But I’m not convinced, personally. Rinslowe People don’t need to “get” it in that regard. Personal tastes and opinions are not negatives to exploit. Or to infer false truths as facts because of our differing perspectives… Let me ask you what specifically you feel is forced about Kart? I never heard of this idea until tonight where two seemingly random people mentioned exactly that in their posts. And I’d like to know more details on how that is real for you. And no this isn’t a bait and switch maneuver, lol. I’m genuinely open to being educated on it… Fiercedeitymelkor I just mean to say that the way people act so excited about it seems a little but over the top. Forced a little at least. vexedpython im srry you feel that way. but I can tell you im not forced to like it. and if you feel you are and that you have to pretend to like it then don’t. if you don’t like it then just wait for wind waker off gamefly since you said your getting it. since you like single player games better I think you will really enjoy it. Rinslowe Could that simply be on account of your obviously not being so taken with the game? You would then find it hard or impossible to “get in” on all the excitement in that case. But does the lack of excitement you have for the game prove others false? I think that’s a dangerous line of thought to entertain. Honestly. Daniel Gonzalez I wouldn’t call it forced. More so very hyped. To be fair, many games tend to be. Watch_Dogs being a good example. sd To be fair watchdogs is on PC, PS4 and Xbox 1. greengecko007 As well as last gen consoles. Watch Dogs looks great, and I’m glad it is selling great, but it’s not anymore surprising than Mario Kart 8 selling great. sd Yes I agree. Mk 8 is currently the best selling game if you look at the platforms individually. bistricky I am personally amazed that Mario Kart 8 has sold 2 million retail units. I was amazed when it sold 1.2 million in 2-3 days. Its continued strong sales will keep it in the media and that bodes well ….. good press will sell consoles ….. as Mario Kart sales continues to grow. For the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 is a winner. For a large group of consumers, a winner can be the tipping point to buy in. Rinslowe That comment is in need of context 101 my friend. It’s all relative. It hits more perfectly the general target market for those other platforms (I bought mine on PC). And it really is on multiple platforms which you’re comparing against a title sold on only one. Is that really a “realistic” comparison? I’d say it might even make Mario Karts sales look that little bit better for what it’s achieved. Fiercedietymelkor To be fair watch dogs has sold almost 2 million on ps4 alone. Rinslowe True and roughly one million on Xbox One. I won’t argue with that perspective. But it also doesn’t dispel the need for context when stating overall sales no’s on mulitiple platforms, especially in comparison to a singular platform… At the end of the day it’s not a race or a popularity contest. Both titles are doing very well for what they are and where they’re marketed. It pays to give credit where it’s due. If you believe it realistic to compare a singular platform exclusive to a multiplatform title of the same interest with each community then it should be speculated what Kart may achieve also on multiple platforms. The thing about these sorts of assumptions is that no one “is” or should be implying because of A = B. Neither title is doing bad or better on account of the other… vexedpython well said I still don’t know why we are talking about watch dogs. Fiercedeitymelkor Yes Mario kart is doing well. It’s a safe title and one that Nintendo can bank on to sell. Rinslowe I hear the word safe being thrown around a lot. Let me just say this. Because a game is not to our liking. It does not make it a universal truth when we imply the term “safe”, “limited” “forced” or “uninteresting” etc… It’s subjective to imply any of those terms. When the overwhelming majority of gamer’s find Kart to be a successful experience in video gaming. When the overwhelming majority of media outlets have reviewed the game to high standards reflected in their scores, backed up by detail after detail as to why it manage to score highly. It’s “safe” to assume most gamer’s are satisfied with the game in general. I’m not suggesting that your personal opinion isn’t equally as valid. It certainly is for you. But accepting that the general consensus rules differently should also be noted. For the consumer who wants Kart – 2m consumers so far and counting. Karts existence is a positive. For Nintendo’s business it’s a positive, as it has proven itself a successful product like it’s predecessors. For someone who hasn’t enjoyed it so far, it’s easy to imply any no’s of negatives to support our singular perspective. But the majority in this case disagree. I think that’s a fair assumption. No? Fiercedeitymelkor It’s quite obviously a safe title to invest in based on previous sales. Call of duty is also a safe title in the same way. I didn’t think that was too controversial. Of course gamers are satisfied with it, they’ve experienced it before and know what to expect. Same goes for any franchise with a following. I also think that gaming journalism is fundamentally flawed especially the reviewing system. How is it that call of duty continues to get good scores even though they are small iterations over past games. “For Nintendo’s business it’s a positive, as it has proven itself a successful product like it’s predecessors.” Exactly, the very definition of a safe title. vexedpython which makes It a smart one that many will be happy they made. safe is not jumping off a building but its also smart to not jump. Fiercedeitymelkor That’s all well and good, safe is fine, not particularly interesting though. I would hope Nintendo fans would expect some risks out of Nintendo right? Also, you admit then that it is a safe title? Rinslowe “That’s all well and good, safe is fine, not particularly interesting though.” Subjective Fiercedeitymelkor Yes obviously. Although generally safe is seen as boring and uninspiring. That said, I don’t think safe is bad, but when that’s all you are then there’s an issue. I would really like to see Nintendo making the Mario kart games AND innovating as well. Jonathan Robitaille lol. motion controls, gamepad, nfc, two screen. Dude, your trolling is bad. Innovative games? How about a fps using squids? How about Wii Fit? the balance board? Seriously, the worst thing you could have said was Nintendo isn’t innovative ha ha Rinslowe “Although generally safe is seen as boring and uninspiring.” – I’m not sure that applies to everyone’s opinion of Nintendo’s titles in general tbh. ” don’t think safe is bad, but when that’s all you are then there’s an issue.” – Again I think that view is hardly a universally accepted one for the masses. ” I would really like to see Nintendo making the Mario kart games AND innovating as well.” – This implies that Nintendo are not innovating recently. In fact even within Mario games themselves there is a majority consensus with the communities at large including the media, that believe innovation to be present. I think although Pikmin is not a brand new franchise. Neither is it an annual one either. Far from it. That shows a form of development innovation in the mechanics, the themes and the characters. Splatoon the most recent example is clearly innovative. Even though there is a title out there with very similar base idea’s to Splatoon, realistically the parallels end with ink on the floor. There are plenty of innovative concepts within that title, imo. I would even go as far as to argue the third party exclusive push on Wii U recently as a form of innovation for Nintendo. It’s a adaptation to the current market situation of their home console. Miiverse is an innovation for any great game in how we extend that sense of connectivity between players in different locations around the globe, even in a single player experience. Connect and share. It’s their own take on that forward thinking… Just my 2 cents. vexedpython nothing wrong with being smart at first. you can try risky things later after you make the smart titles. others wise they risk may have bad outcomes. Rinslowe “It’s quite obviously a safe title to invest in based on previous sales. Call of duty is also a safe title in the same way.” Again this perceived negative on your account does not take anything away from the title itself. You missed the point or chose not to acknowledge it’s existence. Whether it is a “safe” title or not implies what exactly? This is the thing about these sorts of comments. They insinuate some sort of greater truth where there is none. Kart is a popular title. It’s well received. People “want” to play it. Nintendo being a business are happy to give it to the people. Where is the negative in that? Only that to some, they want more, something different, something new, fresh and compelling. I get it. We all want that too. But it implies nothing truthful about “Kart” itself. Only our feelings towards it… Darkness There’s a lot of people unhappy with the game and I see complaints about how Nintendo should have made the game better. It’s a safe bet on Mario Kart 8, all the previous MK’s have been amazing (except MK7) so we all knew it would sell. That’s because everyone thought the game would be even better but in reality it’s just better graphics. This is a review by someone that has a lot of time in the game and isn’t biased like all the gamer site reviews http://youtu.be/cPBqmcwXAao Rinslowe I agree. But people being happy or not happy with Kart, was never really the topic. Also you should be careful when stating opinions, not to let them sound like universal truths because most often they are not. Specifically regarding your comment about just being better graphics. Which is not a universal truth, truth be told. In many’s reality it’s a well balanced title. But that’s just my opinion. However one that is also shared by others. As is yours. For your reference… (note the point of both opinions being both for and against, which is reflecting peoples opinion of the game) http://wiiudaily.com/2014/06/mario-kart-8-sales-2-million/#comment-1458686718 Also noted a guys opinion on the title. I watched it. And it really is just another guy on youtube with a personal opinion. I totally respect that. And I’m sure he truly see’s it that way, which is cool. We all have our right to think and feel about something in our own way. But unbiased? It’s totally biased. Not because the guy has an opinion different than the majority. But because he perceives his opinion to be more valid possibly than another’s. If you share the same view, then obviously it’s also true for you. Again, I doubt you could apply that to a majority, just saying. You know, there are a fair amount of things I would have liked done differently as well. But as I mentioned at the start, it was never about arguing Kart was faultless. Hope that clears that up. 🙂 vexedpython there is also a lot of ppl that are very happy with the game so don’t assume everyone hates it just because you and a few others do. srry you dident like it though hopefully you at least got your moneys worth from getting the free game. greengecko007 In regards to the video you shared; Aside from the fact that the guy sounds obnoxious, he doesn’t seem well informed about the game he is talking about. Mario Kart 8 doesn’t have only 3 game modes, which he claims to be single player, online, and battle mode… MK 8 has single player and local multiplayer Grand Prix, customizable versus mode races, battle mode, time trials, and single and co-op online. There’s also Mario Kart TV, if you’re into basic video editing, and miiverse functionality. He also doesn’t seem to understand how online voice chat works. Yes, it is restricted to lobbies with friends only, which is terrible, but it doesn’t require you to have a headset like he says. I really don’t understand the argument that MK8 is overrated. It’s a new game, and most people that bought it are enjoying it. If Mario Kart 8 is still being touted in 2016, then we might be able to say it’s overrated, but until then, if you want to see overrated games, check out Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy 7. The main point of this long rant is just that it doesn’t seem this guy actually owns the game, but rather that he has played it a little bit, maybe with a friend. He’s entitled to his opinion, and I can respect that, but perhaps he should be more educated on the game before creating something like this. Rinslowe Good points. I watched maybe a minute of it and decided the guy really didn’t like it that much. Well that and as you said the obnoxious angle and it was obvious there wasn’t anything genuine to take away from it. Although I do respect his right to an opinion overall. The video was pretty much a sham… bistricky Day 1, one week ago ….. similar …… yes …… then everything that built up ….. then trust in admin …. then gone ….. then 24 hours ….. a new ID …. now, deja vu ….. it all started back during E3 2014 with poopsy ….. is it just my eyes seeing this …. or is this perpetual. bistricky Fiercedeitymelkor, harkeness and phaedruss …… Are all the same …. I waited to confirm before posting. Yep … I said it because I do appreciate the Wii U Daily community. Yes …… the same harkeness who was removed yesterday by admin. Proof …. All 3 only troll here and Zelda Informer ….. it was this same person’s need to go to the exact two websites. When harkeness was here cursing and insulting the community, he was doing the same at Zelda Informer (even worse actually). I wanted to be wrong but I am not ….. and am tired of this website being hijacked. Rinslowe I left a message for the Zelda Informer staff about exactly that a few days ago. Then this guy shows. Some people say there’s a lot of unnecessary finger pointing going on. But I don’t think so. I agree with you. I wouldn’t even want to speculate how or why that sort of thing gets certain people off? But it’s pretty embarrassing behaviour really. 🙂 bistricky It was very difficult to post …. but I felt its important to take a stand for the Wii U Daily community. I was torn earlier what to do about it. But when evidence became clear, I was willing to. The gamers here are the very best, because they appreciate Wii U gaming. I like the variety of opinions and knowledge that is shared here. I am at a loss explain this one individual and why he plays a ‘Jekyll & Hyde-like’ on a gaming website. Rinslowe Dunno, don’t really care. Let him take care of himself. They always do eventually… bistricky I certainly hope so. Rinslowe I guess it’s my turn to say let it take it’s course. The crazies never have the right kind of endurance to keep up their trolling. Unless the individual is truly troubled… bistricky True that. Cheers. 😀 bistricky Equally ….. as per this specific article on this website …. to be fair Mario Kart has sold around 2 million on Wii U alone. Cheers 😀 Guest sad. having to upvote your own comment = epic fail. Jonathan Robitaille and that is related to Mario Kart 8 how? vexedpython this is my new favorite kart racer. up to now its been super tux kart because the new version reminded me of diddy kong racing but this one takes it. though I do wish they had a open world to drive up to events in like tux kart/diddy kong racer. Brandon Well, I finally got mariokart. Didnt plsy it yet, but will later. Darkness Overrated Mario Kart 8 will never do anything close to Mario Kart Wii! The game sucks and battle mode is a complete joke! The characters aren’t that good, item balance is retarded, no mini map, can’t hold a 2nd item…wth http://www.change.org/petitions/nintendo-fix-battle-mode-in-mario-kart-8 vexedpython i felt item balance was fine in fact most say its better then other versions less blue shells and all that. I also liked the new battle mode though I respect most don’t,. there is a minimap and if your having online errors its your connection cus everyone has said its been really smooth with very few errors. MetroidZero The game is 90% luck 10% skiil. Can’t count how many times I got to 1st and was give Coins for an item, got hit by a red or green shell, and finished somewhere between 5th to 11th place. daimland Nice but it doesn’t change the fact that this game is only okay at best. Shootdatrupee!… Its a kart racing game… What can you expect? vexedpython I felt it was high quality and very additive. wish there was a better char roaster but that’s really my only big complaint. but what is it that you don’t like about it. David Trail Ha tell that to PS4. A lot of games are barely okay. Rinslowe Does everything positive about Wii U need a parallel drawn with PS4 or Xbox One? Negatively… If a dude thinks the game is just average. Then it’s just average, to them. Looks like that statement was just your standard post of personal opinion up there… Adderell MK8 is a bit frustrating at times, and Battle mode isn’t very fun, but that doesn’t completely rule it out as a good game. oontz Mario Kart 8 is awesome. I’m shocked it hasn’t actual sold more. uPadWatcher Does 2 million mean anything to you? oontz Yes. More sales means more market share, which in turn means a longer lifespan for the system. Most importantly it would translate to even more games and software for the wiiu end users. David Trail More than any PS4 exclusive. oontz Killzone SF has actual currently sold more. But Mariokart 8 lifetime sales will surely surpass it in the long run. Rinslowe Those extreme fans sure do like you, huh… oontz I guess so. David Trail 2,1 million, most likely Mario Kart 8 has already surpassed Killzone sales and that is PS4’s highest exclusive NSMBU has sold nearly 5 million. oontz That doesn’t change the fact that your original comment was wrong. David Fail. David Trail It also doesn’t change the fact that PS4 exclusives do not sell very well. oontz Your original comment is still wrong. Try a little harder David Fail. Gamingisfun I will say this in all fairness I agree with most people out there. The little stuff matters and not only that they have so much content to come out with. I read an article the maker of smash said himself they is little help. Nintendo needs to hire a lot of people to help them grow. Sony and MIcrosfot have tons of people to help them. Nintendo needs dlcs, remakes, gamecube games, (Tech that could be there third party support) Krzysztof Ok. I’ll be brutally honest about about MK8. In terms of gameplay, after MK7 this is my second worst MK in the series. I used to love battle mode, well, that’s gone (for me anyway). They might as well just said that there’s not gonna ballon battle in MK8 as this one is really boring. So I thought, Ok, no worries, there’s still excelent multiplayer … right? No! What truly ruins it is item destrubution, which is broken beyond believe! You have no idea how frustrating is being on 7th – 8th place and getting flipping coin where guy in front of me gets golden mushroom! WTF am I supposed to do with it? How is the coin going to help me win the race?! Don’t get me wrong. I REALLY wanted this game to be the best of the bunch. I’ve been playing it since day one, every day and visually is stunning. As well as most of tracks design. Love it. But at the end of the day MK8 is just average. And average in this particular series is very disappointing. So here’s me, one month later, mostly trying to beast some best ghosts and playing “no item” custom games, as this is as close as I can get to real MK experience in this game. David Trail Mk8 is just average… Go play Knack or Killzone SF or Watch Dogs? Krzysztof Average by MK standards. Knack isn’t average. It’s quite bad. Killzone is meh and Watchdogs is just ok, still light years away from GTA V IMO. Trust me, I’ve played all of them. val berger Got a Question: When playing Mario Kart 8, you’re constantly earning a score after which your handicap is rising and falling. When playing in 2 player coop Online (with a buddy locally against 10 people online) the second player gets a score of his/her own. Is this score usually being saved? When we returned playing last night, my co-driver’s score got reset to 1000 which somehow made me question the reason behind a co-driver’s own score. please help! Bob Charlie I know that the Miis that I have registered, my son’s, my wife’s and mine, all retain their scores. If you are just playing with a “Guest” Mii, then it must reset the score every time you close the game. val berger Does Guest Mii mean the Mii of a second player? So are your family’s Miis only retaining their scores for their individual singleplayer game or also for Coop-races? Bob Charlie Neither of them have played much single player, so I can’t speak for that, but I do know that their online scores do not reset to 1000 after MK8 is closed. I have a lot of Miis, but only three of them are actually registered- those registered ones are not having their scores reset. I only think it saves their scores if they play as their Mii. I’ll mess with the Miis here in a little bit and let you know if it only saves their scores when they are playing with their Miis or not. val berger Thanks for your infos, I’ll try it again then, let’s hope it’s saved this time 🙂 Bob Charlie If I pick a random Mii or MK character and play online the game is not saving those scores once the game is closed. Their own Mii’s still hold their scores though. You’re welcome! companyoflosers find it hard to keep faith in humanity when the wii u is behind ps4 when its releasing games that deserve the sales and ps4 is getting very few right now and in addition, half of them arent really that great and were just hyped alot. this coming from someone who likes to stay neutral to the point i have all most systems. im only missing ps4 because i cant justify buying it yet until better or more games r out. Jonathan Robitaille Sony did about as masterful a job marketing the PS4 as possible. They hit all the right spots with consumers. The commercials, their E3, their price point, the new vastly improved controller. It also has blu ray playback. I agree that presently the Wii U is a better value and providing a better gaming experience with more and better games. But the trolls will rush to say that makes me a fanboy and that is just opinion and subjective…because to them…somehow three mediocre exclusives and ports with barely a step up in graphics over the PS3 is better than all the games Nintendo has to offer. But I digress…Nintendo hasn’t done themselves any favors by not showing consumers the Wii U is more than just a Wii accessory. They named it poorly, and they weren’t ready to roll out games because HD development took them by surprise. I too am waiting to purchase a PS4 until it has better games. I am thinking maybe a The Last of Us bundle. oontz If you haven’t experience “the last of us” yet… You’re in for an amazing ride! It’s that great!
