If you were a big fan of the Year of Luigi, we hope you managed to snag the Luigi’s Mansion statue from Club Nintendo before it sold out. The statue was available for a whopping 1500 points and remained available for a few weeks–unlike many other premium awards–most likely due to the high coin cost. If you were saving up in order to purchase the statue, bummer.

If you’re still looking for something to unload a mass of coins on, the Mario & Luigi hat-shaped 3DS totes are still available at 500 coins a piece.

    NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! i had 1400 🙁

  • Steven_Segal

UGH! Wasn’t gonna reach the coins total anyway… At least ordered the Luigi pouch to see if my XL fits…

    • Bryan Lopez

It doesn’t 🙁 Trust me I got both the mario and luigi pouch.

  • Ducked

Had 1050 coins! So close! 🙁 How could it sell out that quickly? Who actually saves their coins?

    • Nate

Haha…I usually spend my coins immediately. I spent all of my coins in the last few months on the Mario poster set and two white Wii remote holders (which look really nice).

    • Hinaru

Got mine and still have many coins leftover. I wish we had like the 3D world And Wind Waker Soundtrack. Why Nintendo Why? And now we got to wait for pikebank and on Japan can use there’s? Just wish for that Nintendo exclusive stuff for the ppl that actually gets their games.

    • I used to get a lot of rewards, but after I got the messenger bag and a few games I kinda started saving so when things like the nunchuk come out, I’ll be ready

    • subsamuels

Man I was close too, how do so much people have 1500 coins. You have to spend a ton of money to buy all those first party titles.

    • Steve

I had 1490 the day before it sold out. Then the next day, I got the post survey. When I got the 10 coins I needed, it was too late 🙁

      • Michael Hancock

  • Jon

I would have made it there in a month or two, but… 1500 coins was a lot.

There is also a limited supply yoshi cleaning cloth on there for people, last time they had them up there they were gone very quickly so if you want one, i suggest you get it fast.

  • The Clockwork Being

FINE!! I’ll make my own. And its going to be 10 times bigger! And with 4 Luigis all on the same figurine! And there will be all the bosses surrounding the Luigi’s with King Boo overhead gazing on them!

    • Nope.avi

      Make a weegee statue

  • Denvy

    Bummer, I forgot!

  • Desend

I was actually pretty happy that I managed to get one. 1500 coins was a lot though. Pretty amazed that it managed to stay in stock as long as it did.

  • RyuNoHadouken

i keep forgetting about those things…i have more than enough coins…i never use them

    • YogiGRB

  • Skelterz

This sold out on the uk club nintendo site like a week ago or more and it was 7000 stars i could not afford it lol not enough stars i have like 4000 or something but i worked out if you wanted that thing in the uk you would have to buy 32 games for wii u, each game gives you 250 stars the wii u itself was only 1000 stars or something.

    • Arthur Jarret

I got very lucky the last months with used DS and Wii titles. Most of them still had unused codes. 5 bucks X 32 is pretty manageable.

      • Skelterz

more like 45.00 quid a game for wii u games

    • YogiGRB

in the benelux eu club you loose the points if not used within a year …. basterds i had only 4700 points or so , but lost more than 4000 points already past year. so sad

  • Nope.avi

We need a weegee statue for 2014, the 2nd year of Luigi!

And we need to make this the decade of luigi

  • Jack5221

  • Ricky__Spanish

I use my coins on games. 1500 for a cheap plastic statue is ridiculous. You have to buy 10 Wii U consoles to get that many coins

  • greengecko007

Hopefully Nintendo makes this a tradition and announces a new character of the year. It’s not only a good marketing strategy, but I’d love to see more of these limited edition statues as rewards for the most loyal fans.

    • Vile-Okami

1500 coins a year seems pretty hard to get.

      • greengecko007

True, but that encourages some people to buy more games/systems. It’s good for marketing and it gets fans hyped up on collectors items. It seems like a win-win to me.

      • subsamuels

A Wii U game is like 50 coins and a 3DS is 40 or 30. Most Nintendo first party games never go on sale or get a price drop unless you buy old Wii games. So it will be costly to reach 1500. I’m at 700 and I bought every single Wii U first party title.

  • Rick Valenta

Had to skip this one. I have enough plastic crap around my house that will wind up in the trash in a few years. How about doing the gold Nun-chuck again or a gold pro-controller in enough numbers that normal people can get it without staying up all night. In other news Club Nintendo needs to step up the gifts from trinkets to stuff people actually want. Make cool elite stuff and people will buy more games to get the points. No one is going to buy $400 worth of games to get a pencil pouch.

    • Rick Valenta

In other news my Majora’s Mask soundtrack came in yesterday. That was epic and totally worth the coins!! Or did it even take coins as an elite gift? Ordered it so long ago I can’t remember..

    • Derek

I would definitely get the gold controller if they made one

      • Rick Valenta

Gold Pro Controller…drool. I would give all my coins for one of those bad boys…

        • Rick Valenta

My Gold N64 controller is still my go-to for Banjo-Kazooie and Paper Mario sessions.

  • Wiiluigi

Cool! But too many coins. If it was 800 maybe. Sorry had to pass.

  • Vile-Okami

    So glad I had enough.

  • Madmagican

I’m surprised people were willing to dish out 1500 coins o_O

    • subsamuels

I would have got it, I was close. It’s a rare collectors item that could be worth a bunch in the future.

      • Rick Valenta

“rare collectors item.” lol.. go get a wii mini. That will be a rare collectors item!!

        • subsamuels

You never know, people are already selling it on ebay for 199.99 and 299.99 and its not even out yet.

  • Arthur Jarret

I got this one – there’s still plenty of room in my gameroom. It was 7000 stars in the euro eshop, tho (you get 250 per game – and 50 extra if you do an after-play survey if you’re a first month adopter)

  • jreed3842

I liked this figurine! However, I am nowhere near 1,500 coins! It’s takes me a long time just to get a decent amount of coins!

  • Dominicruz

its a lot 1,500 it took me a lot of games to get 1,700 coins to get this figurine

  • CCM

Got mine, actually got it for my kid, but yeah it took a long time to get 1,500 coins so I hope it’s worth it!

  • Steve

    I just missed it 🙂

Then again, I got the 600 coins I was lacking for free. So, no harm. I’ll wait for the next big reward. I’m hoping they have a SSB figurine.

How did I get 600 coins for free?
    1. Go to your local Gamestop
    2. Scan the empty 3DS/DS/WII/WII U cases for club Nintendo codes
    3. Photograph the codes with your phone
    4. Register codes on club Nintendo
    5. Ta da!

  • Bryan Lopez

Man I feel bad the other people who didn’t get their Luigi statue. I actually saved 1,700 coins and I got the Luigi statue as soon as I saw it on the Nintendo direct video.
