Wii U eShop launch gamesYesterday Nintendo released the full list of Wii U games which will be available on launch day, November 18, 2012. The list features 23 titles, but Nintendo only included retail games, not the ones that will be available digitally on the Wii U eShop. Now they’ve revealed the indie games that will be available on launch day or later in November. The full list includes 7 games:

Wii U eShop launch games

Alongside the 23 retail games, this makes for a total of 30 games which will be available on launch for the Wii U. More indie titles are scheduled for release shortly after the launch, including Biker Bash, Pinball Arcade, and The Cave.

In addition to these indie games on eShop, Nintendo will also be releasing full retail games as digital downloads. Both New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land are expected to be available digitally at launch.

U guys think it wud be cool if it were called β€œeMall”?
it will still be linked to the 3DS eShop in watever ways but in the eMall u r practicly in a real mall! U know. . . Wii Ware in that studio over there, Virtual Console over there etc. Along with all yr friends walking about in the Mall (as their Miis ofcourse)! If they are offline they will still be there walking about but u can see wat they like wat they rated, other stats and wat they reccomend for u. If they r online then u can send a brief msg (voice or txt) about stuff, send recommendations, send or recieve gifts and more! There too will be strangers who hav been in the eMall (only some or recent Miis to reduce overcrowds Lol). Those ppl r like yr friends offline features: U can see wat they rated, wat they reccommend but expect less features from strangers than friends (offline). Strangers will not feature any online activity as i ASSUME Nin is strict about that and there would be too much data for the servers.
GamePad features: The eMall is huge so u can run or teleport yr Mii to yr destination using the gpad! If u r by a near stranger Mii, u can scroll through their stats, fav them -if u like wat they play- with a buttion on the gpad’s screen, that way he/she wont dissapear from over crowds. That person u Faved will be in some list u can access from the G-Pad. If Nin isnt too stict u can send a Friend request! There r waaay more features but this comment is about 1GB of memeory already! LOL
So just imagin a big 2 story eMall with yr Mii shopping about!
So what do you guys think?!
      I think its genius! Lol

      • SideScreamer

        That’s awful.
Just keep it plain and simple.

      • Nintenlord

It has already ben done and it kind of sucket the name was playstation home but if it is like you say ill rock

        • Morley94

You took the words right out of my mouth.

        • TheWholeTruth

It’s too hard to find stuff in PS Home.
          There’s too much stuff.

      • snestendo

It would be cool at first, but would get tedious after a while.

  • 7upland

    where are gc games?

    • 8v4h,f,’

      they shall come eventually

    • Alienfish

Seriously, this is the best launch of any console in the history of consoles, and all you do is complain about something that hasn’t even been officially confirmed by Nintendo yet? The console won’t give you a bj, got a problem with that? No built in toaster, no time traveling capabilities, can’t load my pizza into the disc drive and expect it to come out sliced neatly into eight slices, etc. The list really does go on.

      • Nick

If anybody is complaining, it would be you. He just asked where the gc games are. He didn’t say that the Wii U sucks, he didin’t say the Wii U would fail. Is there a reason to get mad at him?

It is kind of sad that you are this crazy about defending a video game console. Even if he didn’t like the Wii U, who cares? Jesus Christ, is it that big a deal?

        • AnesthesiaGamer

This comment might not end up below yours. For some reason whenever I reply to a comment, whatever I write appears somewhere completely unrelated making my comment appear out of nowhere and totally random.

Anyway, I agree with you, and I’m a bit disappointed with the fans here. I always saw Nintendo fanboys as a little smarter and less biased than Microsoft and Sony fanboys… But some of the things on this site…

This is not the place to point out flaws, ask legitimately good questions about videogame providers. I would consider myself an informed fanboy. I grew up on Nintendo, and pre-ordered the Wii U day one. But I’m not going to be blind…

I did get down voted for asking Nintendo to give some clarity. Keeping people in the dark purposely is how governments keep people ignorant (say… China and a lot of the Sharia Law sates).

          • Collected

Wow, over-exaggeration much; listen no console launch has ever been completely open to public display with all details and possibilities known months beforehand. Should things change later on (loss of a game or features), then it would cause backlash and make the respective console look untrustworthy, hesitant or incompetent. This may not be the best system of revealing a new console but it has worked in the past and can work again. The amount of information we have is alright; especially in regards to things like games, gameplay aspects and potential hardware set-up (though mostly rumor based).

If all the specs and such were revealed now; the major gaming sites would analysis, compare, draw out theories and then MOVE ON. Leaving these things to the last minute is meant to draw hype, to make people talk about a console. Knowing everything would be a bad sales move and Nintendo would not really have anything left to possible wow or surprise people with a few days before or after the launch.

    • u mad bro

It’s not yet confirmed although Reggie fils aime would like to see gamecube games in the WiiU’s eshop.

  • FishFan03

I’ve got mine pre-ordered with New Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU…Can’t wait!!!

    • Chocer

Those are the ones I pre-ordered too! LOLOL

  • Laud

I haven’t played any of those, but I’ll definitely be buying Trine 2.

    • Morley94

I have never even heard I any of these. For every good game Nintendo releases, there are 5 garbage games that go along with it. This looks like the failed WiiWare all over again.

For the record I am not a hater, just disappointed in the games Nintendo chooses to release. I love Nintendo and I preordered a deluxe, so nobody rip me a new asshole. I think everyone can agree with what I’ve said coming from a realistic standpoint.

  • SUperMetroid1234

only 7 oh well at least we have an eshop it could be worse

    • JumpMan

the 3DS only had, what? 2? games at the launch of the e Shop… which came 6 + months after the 3DS came out. Wii U comes out with instant access to the e Shop, 7 games right off the bat and hundreds to follow. it defiantly could be worse.

      • JumpMan

        *definitely :3

  • Smokey cheese

The nano assault neo kinda looks like super stardust. Interested to see how the new wii u controller is utilised with this game

I will be getting Trine 2 for sure…game looks amazing!

I have to say having 30 games at launch is truly showing how Nintendo has learned from the past, and how the gaming world is truly down with what the WiiU can do and will be…people…Nintendo 4 LIFE!!!!!

  • Armani

Hmm..none really interest me on the eShop.. It’ll be cool to have Happy wheels on the WiiU πŸ˜€ haha also RANDOM! but it’ll be awesome to bring back Pac-Man Vs. With the WiiU gamePad we dont need a gameboy πŸ˜› and Online will be great! I guess its similar to some games on Nintendo Land, but still if it was released,I will Def. Buy it again!!:D

    • Melk

      The fuck? Happy Wheels?

  • Super Sonic128

Seeing how, Im just walking away with just the Deluxe Wii U console, downloads will be some of my first games for Wii U, I already own Mighty Switch Force, but very interested in Mighty HD.

  • Troll patrol.

This is why we need external hard drives .

    Troll patrol suggest’s everyone buy’s a cheap 100GB+ HDD .

    Have a nice day .

    • TheWholeTruth

      You do mean 1000Gb+. (1Tb)

You can get cheap 3Tbs for 125$ at Wallmart.

Yes, I do recommend buying one, especially, if you’re like me, you like to download games and record tv.

      • ZombieGuns

3 TBs for 125$? Hell yeah.

        • NintendoGator

Hey ZombieGuns………..Nice to see your commenting on this website again…….Its been a long hiatus for ya………Where have you been?……Out

      • Marq

I’d make sure to do the research and get an HDDs that is optimized for gaming (at least 32 MB cache, 480 Mbps access speed, 7200 rpm minimum). Some HDDs are made strictly as backup disks and work slower than others and have a higher failure rate.

    • Kahhhhyle

On Nintendo could have just included more built in memory

      • revolution5268

then you will be bitching over the wii u been overprice.

        • Kahhhhyle

I would say it’s over priced now. They could have kept the price the same and doubled the memory

          • Nintenlord

Then don buy it ,fallowing my advice may even save you money and who dosnt have an at least an xtra 8 gigs pen drive or sd card laying around?

    • SteampunkJedi

Unfortunately, my internet connection can’t support large downloads, and thus makes an HDD useless for me unless retail bought games can be transferred to one. That would be nice for convenience and would eliminate the risk of dropping the disk and ruining the game, but I don’t believe that to be likely.

    • moi

      there is a 100gb external?the least i have found is 320gb

  • Nintenlord

Also dont forget all the wiiware and virual consoles title you may have missed

    • Nintenlord

that is going to be avalible day 1 too

  • OcarinaOfTime

    TRINE 2!!!! looks beautiful
    you can’t say it isnt

    • Morley94

      What the hell is that?

  • ZombieGuns

This is where that 3 Terabyte hard drive will come in handy.

    • Pacman

I think the wiiu is only capable with up to 1000 gb. of external storage.

      • Nintenlord

It has ben confirmed up to what the heck you want

      • Kahhhhyle

Nintendo confirmed 3 TB. Check a few articles back its on here somewhere

        • Wildman

What if one has two 3TB hard-drives??
I mean 3TB is more than enough space, but still.

      • WII U 4 LIFE

it holds 4 tb learn next time

  • Nintendo Power of Canada/America

Should I get Trine 2 or Toki Tori 2 (I seen Toki Tori 1 on Gameboy Color. Ahhh the good old days)

    • Johny

Most likely Trine 2 … i played toki tori on wii.. well its a great game, but its FULL on .. well puzzle game..coudlnt be more puzzle… and thats just not for me…trine on the other hand looks like a solid platformer, action… and on top looks stunning =)

    • revolution5268

  • TheWholeTruth

What we want to know is how powerful the processor and GPU are.

Why are they delaying to show off the specs?

Is Nintendo ashamed of it’s power or what?

The more they delay showing off the specs, the more I’m skeptic about it’s true power.
I know I’ll get blasted for saying that, but I want to know exactly what I’m going to buy here, and if it’s worth the money.
From what it can do so far, it’s awesome, but will it greatly surpass the other HD consoles or not?..
    Nintendo, release the specs.

    • The incredible sandwich

nintendo never shows off the specs and its not a big deal we know it can handle cry engine and frostbite 2 so the wii u should be good for 4-5 years

      • TheWholeTruth

I think Nintendo would be selling much more Wii Us if they were to release the specs. IMO.
Their call. I’ll wait and see.

        • Death

And that’s why the wii sold out right?
          Gawd, some people…

    • Nintendude

I don’t care, as long as I get awesome 1st party Nintendo games and awesome 3rd party games.

      • TheWholeTruth

They have a bunch of them, like Zombiu looks interesting.
But I ain’t getting Bayonneta 2, didn’t like the first one at all, the concept was awful from the beginning. I think Nintendo would be better off just by giving us something brand new instead of something rehash.

If they keep up their good work in exclusive titles, they’ll have a must buy console.

        • Nintenlord

The reason for not showing the spec is for those lazy sony and microsoft engeniers dont have it easy to ad some of the wiiu things like video streaming to the pad, nintendo pay millions on the desing of the wii u

          • Nintenlord

Also did you knew the spec of you super nintendo?

          • TheWholeTruth

Well, just about any portable device can stream videos, it’s nothing new.

What I’m more interested in is the ability to call people on their phones with the Wii U.

            That’s something refreshing.

    • paperchao

its just that if they do that sony and microsoft can easilt see the specs and know what to change in their consoles to be stronger than the wii u, so its better to wait

    • EponaVsCrimsonLoftwing

Nintendo just doesn’t do that. They’ll be reported by other people after the system launches and someone takes it apart

    • Zeldazero

More power doesn’t make better games. With that being said, once it is released on November 18th, it will be dissected and everyone will know. I too want to know just out of curiosity, but I already know exactly what I’m buying, a game console that will have the many Nintendo exclusive titles that I will want πŸ™‚

    • AnesthesiaGamer

DUDE! don’t post comments like that! You’ll get downvoted!
Any sign of dissent and the masses will chew you out!

    • TopCat

I’m sorry to be the one to say this, but your comments read as being immature and lacking in knowledge.

First of all, Nintendo have not “delayed” the release of the Wii U’s core technical specifications; these are freely available.

Secondly, to question whether Nintendo is “ashamed of its power” is to suggest that the best video games console is the one that has the most mythical ‘power’. How do you define power? The numbers you read on a sheet? Whichever you choose, you’ve missed the point that Nintendo are wise enough to see beyond CPU/GPU speed as a way of innovating.

      • TheWholeTruth

Oh, because I want to be informed, that makes me immature?
        And lacking of knowledge?
Well, of course we are lacking knowledge, they haven’t released the specs yet.

        I just want more information.

I know that the iPower processors will be powerful, but how many of them will their be is all I’m asking.

        • frank

Dude you’re asking WAY more than how many processors. You’re practically saying that you don’t think the wii u is worth the price if it doesn’t do what xbox and playstation are meant for, graphics and “power.” Nintendo, as well as a very large majority of people on this site, want to look passed that and play something completely fresh and fun. Yeah HD is great, but its not what I focus on.

          • AwesomeNES

I doubt he said it was worthless.

But is it worth it the price?

Hell, You can get a PC with Quad-Core Intel i7 processor, 10Gb of Ram and 1000Gb for 500$. That’s just your standard PC at Wallmart.

And at some point, Asus is paying Royalty fees to Microsoft to use Windows AND they are making profits from it.

For 300$, it has to be at least 4 cores, otherwise it’s useless.

By the time the “true” next gen is released with Xbox 720 and PS4 hits the stores, The Wii U will be a thing of the past and it’s sale will be struggling.
            Sad but true.

Can’t blame The Whole Truth to want to know how long the console will last.
You can convince a bunch of 14 year old kids and younger, but you’ll need to do more if you want to impress the older audience.

    • Michael

I know what you mean. You’d think Nintendo would let customers know what they’re buying, but that’s just how Nintendo does things. I don’t know why, but they rarely release any specs. They aren’t trying to be dishonest, but it sometimes seems that way.

    • Mr.JP

I see where you are going but u said it yourself:
“From what it can do so far, it’s awesome”
      Is that not enough?

    • NintendoGamer

Are you aware that they are doing this since frickin 2001?

    • Mommar

      It’s about games, not specs.

      • TheWholeTruth

        And specs makes the game.

        Touchscreen controller,
        Processor and GPU,
        Memory to download games.

All thoses things will matter if we are to make an informed decision about the console.

      • TheWholeTruth

Graphics alone won’t make a compelling game.

        -The Story
        -Gameplay Controls
        -Often times Multiplayer options.

A lot of things goes into how great the game will be. Graphics is one them.

If Nintendo claims their console is superior, than prove it.
Show us what it can do.

        • TurtlePowa

The power of the wii is already obviously strong…if it’s a Nintendo console that does hd…real hd…and so far we have seen some ports that are going to play better then the current gen is imagine what we could expect from exclusive games?…I mean that is already proof of it being strong…Also you said gameplay controls/multiplayer and story…just about all of those have been solved already…the controls are obviously superior , multiplayer is official and story isn’t anything to worry about…simply because that’s based on the dev’s part.

          • AwesomeNES

            The Specs will matter.

Because when the next Gen starts with the Next Gen Xbox and PS4, they will be greatly superior to what the Wii U is.

And when thoses consoles sells a lot, they developers will leave the Wii U to focus on Hardcore games for True Next Gen Consoles, just like the Wii.

The Wii had support at the beginning, but then as Xbox 360 and PS3 were selling more, they lost support and there was hardly any good games on the console, most of them were on the HD consoles.

I got, what, about half a dozen good games for the Wii?
Hell, even PS3 got some of the best games the Wii had like No More Heroes and Resident Evil Chronicles.

Why would I want to spend time and money on a console that will be left without any support after a few years?

I’m not a kid, I work to buy the stuff that I have. And it ain’t easy to pay all the bills. I ain’t gonna waste away money on something that will do like the Wii did and fade out after a few years.

Nintendo will need at least 4 cores if they want to be competitive, if not, they’re just plain cheap. 3DS XL plastic without charger cheap.

          • D2K

The PS3 has 7 cores. How did that work out for them BTW?

        • D2K

We aren’t gonna start this mess again.

The time has come to throw this broken record in the trash where ti belong. If the Wii U specs are good enough for you, too bad. There are millions of other people to replace you and people like myself that have seen and played the Wii U already (Wii U Experience) that already know what it is capable of. It’s too late in the game for this BS.

          ONE LAST TIME.

Even if the Wii U used hardware DIRECTLY on par with what is in current-gen consoles it would STILL be more powerful than the 360 and PS3 because technology runs faster an more efficient now than it did 7 years ago.

We KNOW the majority of the Wii U titles in the launch window run in full 1080p and 60fps.

We KNOW the GPU is more powerful than the current-gen.

We KNOW the Wii U has twice as much memory as the current-gen.

Regardless if the CPU is a Tri-Core “Broadway” or a Quad-Core custom CPU based on the Watson IBM Power7 (which they have publicly stated that it is) both will be more powerful and efficient that what is in the current-gen. Regardless if it is under-clocked.

If the information available is not adequate for YOU to make an “informed decision” then either you don’t WANT to or are incapable of making a informed decision.

          • AwesomeNES

FYI, this will have a great importance for next gen consoles.

This will determine if the Wii U will last a long time with support from the developers or if it will fade away after 2-3 years like the Wii did…

          • D2K

@AwesomeNES: The fact that the Wii “faded away” after 2-3 years and still has a 30-million console lead over the PS3 and 360 basically answers all the questions.

    • theBALLANCEDopinion

Hahaha “hidden due to low rating” within half an hour of this post existing. And its the only of two comments that exist hahaha. Must be a new record.

    • KirboFer

      LOL .
Why’d you get disliked ? Isn’t what he said true ??

      • frank

    • ReasonWhy1796

What do you care about the most how many games are coming out for the system or how powerful the system is??? All you need to know is the wii u is more powerful than the 360 and ps3.

      • AwesomeNES

And how exactly is it superior?

According to the latest rumours, it can’t even support DVD movies? A technology that is decades old… (Just 15 years old)

You’ll have your small Wii U, with an External HDD next to it and both placed on top of a Blu-Ray player, your total comes above the 500$ since it can’t support it as a stand alone.

If it can’t play DVD Movies, then it’s useless.

        • Collected

It has a cable-box functionality that makes up for the declining modes of entertainment viewing that are the DVD and Blu-ray. Seriously all of Youtube, Hulu and Netflick to watch vs a DVD/Blu-ray player that I have pay more for movies and such that take up physical space. Nintendo and Microsoft seem to have the better plan for multi-media gaming systems instead of Sony.

Futhermore the Wii U has shown launch games rivaling that or performing better than similar titles on Xbox 360 and PS3, many which also feature gamepad use to good effect. It has many launch titles that will run in 1080p and 60 fps; something which took others systems years to achieve and even then they only can upscale not represent the true HD. If you know anything about games systems it is that they always improve in graphical representation throughout their lifetime.

Specs matter: yes. But will that determine whether developers stop making games for the Wii U: no. There is no HD leap that is convenient for Sony and Microsoft this time. Nothing that doesn’t mean developers won’t be able to port almost all games designed for one platform or another (especially if it is true about the cheap costs needed to port a console to Wii U). Trying to make out a technological leap when it isn’t provable (or even well-defined) is pathetic, especially if the Sony and Microsoft decide to make new cutting edge hardware; this would bite them in the ass. No-one wants another extremely complicated cell processor that will cause developers grief on end; and more so no one at Sony and Microsoft want to start off the way the PS3 did.

    • revolution5268

because sony and M$ will know and copy there tech. how i not that hard to understand, plus the games from this gen don’t use up all 25gb and wii u can use up to 75gb in the disk.

  • Trev

I don’t think Nintendo usually releases specs you might need to wait until somebody opens up a wiiu

  • The incredible sandwich

thats cool i cant wait to play Nano Assault Neo

  • James

Nintendo says they will not release the specs, and someone will have to take apart the Wii U at launch themselves to find out

    • TheWholeTruth

That’s why I’m disappointed. I want to know exactly what I’m buying.

When you buy a PC, you look at the specs and it’s price.
You don’t just take the first thing that drops in your hand.

      It’s pure logic.

I believe Nintendo would be selling a lot more Wii Us if they were to release the specs.

      Their call.

      • ceramicsaturn

Numbers don’t mean anything. If numbers were what won the battle, the Vita would be a smashing success. Sometimes when companies care so much about the numbers, they don’t put as much time into what will be played with those specs. Probably why I got bored with the Vita after the third month of owning it. There simply was little to play.

As far as specs go, it’ll be fine going into next generation. It’s well more powerful than the launch day 360 ports are showing it’s capable of, and it will be able to use current and near future engines. This isn’t the Wii, where it was already out of date and incapable of playing ANYTHING out of the gate.

Nintendo is getting my money day one with the Wii U because of the games they have for sale within their launch window and their controller. That’s what excites me as a gamer. If all I cared for were specs, I wouldn’t be playing on a console anyway.

        • Herz

I really don’t get how people are so concerned about the specs. It’s already playing games in native 1080p at 60 fps. The CPU being newer is already going to benefit of being newer and probably utilizing L2 and L3 cache and will run much more efficiently then the last generations CPU. It will more then likely be of a lower clock speed (2.4-3.0) due to the compact size of the Wii U. The lower clock speed will only effect lazy developers who don’t try to utilize the Wii U’s tech properly.

Not to mention that due to the fact that games are running at 1080p it is going to be much harder to notice differences in graphics. It will probably just be minor details, lighting effects, and draw distance that makes the difference. Even if nextbox/ps4 go to 2k/4k most developers won’t make it 2k/4k native due to cost and storage space. They’ll most likely be upconverted. The graphics differences in this upcoming generation will be much less then last one and more then likely the developers will be able to easily make a version for the Wii U as long as the owners of the system buy the software.

        • On The Fence

I’d enjoy this year because the only differance between wii and wii u is you have a one year head start thats it after the next Xbox is released it’ll be the same story all over again.

Tick, tock, tick, tock countdown to U becoming everyones favourite dust collector just like my wii g#d what a f#!$ing waste of money.

          • Collected

Incredibly the Xbox did very little to attract external, non-gamer attention until they came up with the Kinect system. There were also problems relating to the heating system and the RROD. Things a lot potential buyers of the next Xbox would be concerned about and something which caused some gamers to lose faith in Microsoft.

While people calling the Wii a dust collector is entirely based on their experiences (meaning they live in their own world and almost never vary their gaming tastes) your perception of upcoming consoles is false. Xbox 720 seems to have almost no revolutionary features to lure away people from the Wii U. On top of this, the two new consoles by Sony and Microsoft have no HD bragging rights this time round.

They have to carefully market the systems as being more than just updated PS3s and Xbox 360s or else people may not care. Xbox in particular has stigmas attached to potential system faults (RROD) and a problematic online community (Xbox live and 10-12 years old who swarm the online shooters).

      • D2K

Yeah, because clearly not knowing the specs has “hindered” Wii U pre-orders. :/

      • Cugno the Swiss

Man, I don’t understand why all of your posts are so badly downvoted… All you’re asking for is information!

  • Trev

Trine 2 the cave and biker battles looks awesome

  • ZeldaFan996

I’ve never been one to download these types of games, but Trine 2 has really caught my eye. I’ll be downloading that come launch day.

  • Bob

Nintendo is an entertainment company, not a hardware company. It is thus only sensible to concentrate on the gaming content coming to the console rather than numbers, that are hard to compare anyway.

    Trine 2, let’s get married.

  • MasterPpv

Cloudberry Kingdom on launch day?! This makes me so damn happy =D

    • Herz

That game looks like it could be pretty intense. I’m going to go with Trine 2 and Little Inferno.

  • Mida

Some things are better left unrevealed.

  • Mida

    Specs I mean

    • Kav

You should learn how to use the “Reply”

  • blackeneddeath

it would be so awesome if they add to the eShop that awesome GC Remake of Resident Evil i want that on my 32GB! please!

  • LazerK

Trine 2 and Mighty Switch Force HD!! *-*

  • Raul

Trine 2 and Little Inferno are day one buys for me!

  • Ben

Lets hope the eshop games wont go the way Wiiware went.
Also a quick question. Is the 3DS E-shop a big improvement on the Wii and dsi’s ones?
Read: good games are “sorted” from the bad ones, not that many bad games, faster, easier to navigate and you dont return to the homescreen all the time?

Also, they should add multiple downloads at ones. It pissed me of that i always had to manually select every game on Wiiware i ever downloaded. Also the five menu screen before and after the download dont make it better you know. And the fact that its so slow and has to reload all your downloaded games when you return to it makes the experience a total piece of crap.

    • Lord Carlisle

Yeah, I hated the Wii eShop, but the 3DS one is actually pretty well designed.

  • Nintyfan

Never seen Little Inferno Wii U gameplay yet, so I’m still waitin on that…

Trine 2 beautiful game! Def on my radar! Also I prefer physical copies over downloadable. LOVE TO SHOW MY COLLECTION LOL!

Plus save my storage for eShop titles!!!!!!!! XD

  • On The Fence

So, PSN are releasing all retail titles for digital download from October so I wouldn’t get to excited, good luck downloading games with a puny 32GB flash drive, HA!

  • Alienfish

Little Inferno is going to be a must-buy. Trine 2 is high on my list too just because it’s SO DARN PURDY!

  • TheImaj

Can we get a source link?

  • Dan

Only Sony and Microsoft throws specs so that gamers will be pressed!!! Nintendo dont usually release cPU specs beyond the basics!!!

    • Dan

    • D2K

We usually don’t get exact system specs for any Nintendo console until after it is released and someone tears it apart. It doesn’t really make a difference because for the people still whining about it, they could have a Nintendo Direct video tomorrow in which they say nothing but “hello,” the complete specs of the system and “good night.” People would STILL complain.

When I heard 2GB of RAM, that was enough for me. Not that I was waiting to hear that, but out of the main three of CPU, GPU and RAM I feel what mattered most to me was the RAM. Developers have raved about how much RAM they have to work with on the dev kits (which is 3 GB).

Like you said, Sony and Microsoft (more-so Sony) throw specs around as a red-herring. They want to divert your attention from the little man behind the curtain.

Not that there aren’t great 1st party games on the PS3 and 360, but they survive on 3rd-party support. Nintendo doesn’t need 3rd-party support to “survive.” BUT with ample 3rd-party support they are unstoppable (see NES and SNES.) If that happens this generation (and it certainly looks like it is going to) the only comeback Sony and Microsoft have is to come out with systems that are vastly more powerful, but too expensive for them to make and for us to buy which defeats the purpose.

Microsoft still has Kinect 2 and it is moving towards the casual audience anyway so they’ll be alright and the 720 will be more of a entertainment center than game console, but Sony……..I don’t know.

  • Crapcake

i want to have mario 64,mario sunshine, and gc n64 snes nes genesis game gear gba gbc gb and dreamcast games and id also like full hd 3d remakes of both mario galaxys

    • o0o

Remakes of games that came out A FEW YEARS AGO? YEAH, NO. I’d rather not play the exact same games over and over again. There’s too many remakes nowadays.

      • Crapcake

fyi, ive never played those games so i just want to play the games that i never got to play so Go make yourself a barf sanwhich and never talk to me again EVER!!!

These are a teaspoon of meh VS the rest of the awesomeness.

  • marioU

Finally! Confirmation of New super mario bros. U as a downloadable title at launch! Now, if only Gamestop would start selling Wii U eShop cards…

  • Opheodrys

Probably a dumb question, but I’ll ask anyway. Will wiiware games be available on wii u? I always wanted to download World of Goo, but I no longer have a wii.

    • D2K

That’s not a dumb question. One should never assume. I haven’t heard any mentions of the Wii Ware games on the Wii U myself.

    • Dan

It should be,, Wii U can easily run emulation by Nintendo

  • SteampunkJedi

Depending on the size of the downloads, I might buy some of these games. Trine 2 and Toki Tori 2 look especially interesting.

    • AM

I also want to buy those games and perhaps Little Inferno (although I actually have to see the gameplay).

      • Tracy

I agree completely. I saw the trailers and was hooked immediately. I want to see the gameplay though but I think it’ll be awesome.

  • Dan

Trine 2 is perfect for WiiU,

  • Shane

Just in case anyone is still reading this article:

I emailed Nintendo asking about eShop game availability, and external storage having to do with the capacity and brand. Here is the full email response…

Thank you for contacting us. I can certainly appreciate your interest in finding out more information about Wii U! To answer your question regarding what may be available from the Nintendo eShop I need to let you know we do not yet have a list of exactly what titles may or may not be available to download digitally. I can tell you that the majority of Nintendo-published Wii U titles will launch both as a packaged game at retail stores and as a digital download. Any further information on this matter is not currently available to us.

Regarding your questions about an external hard drive for Wii U, at this time there are no plans to make a Nintendo branded external hard drive. Wii U will be compatible with any external USB storage device, or an SD card. It is also worth noting that at this time we do not have any information to indicate Wii U will or will not be compatible with an external hard drive up to 3 TB

    • D2K

I’m not sure why people want or need a “Nintendo brand” HDD. I mean storage is storage. It’s not gonna work any better or worse because it has a ‘Nintendo’ label on it.

Just another example of Nintendo giving peopel what they asked for and MORE and it still not being good enough. If Nintendo caves and at sometime in the future make their own HHD, people will find something else to complain about. The HDD is “too small” or the HDD runs at 5400 RPM instead of 7200 RPM or whatever.

Thanks for posting the e-mail though.

      • Shane

Im not even complaining. People just don’t know EXACTLY what will work with their console sometimes, and having a NINTENDO branded helps people KNOW that it WILL WORK FOR SURE with there console.

I have a 32 GB SDHC card for my 3DS. There’s no such thing as a Nintendo branded 32 GB SD card, and I KNOW ENOUGH to know that it works(even though I bought a 64 GB before that which I thought would work, but isn’t supported)

Besides, we ALL know that Nintendo charges more for their SD cards because it has their name on it. People buy their kids a DS, and say, “Oh an SD card for my kids Nintendo DSi, and it says Nintendo so I know it will work!” Now do you get it? I sure as hell know if I was 5-9 years old, and my parents bought me a Nintendo DSi and bought an SD card, all I would care about is if my gift that my loving parents worked the way they wanted for me as a gift.

If they make a Nintendo branded external , then good for them. I’m not even suggesting it, but I’m sure it will help people say,” Oh more storage for games FOR MY KIDS.” Especially if it says “more capacity for all your favorite game!” on the box.

        Also, your welcome.

        • D2K

Well, Nintendo has always produced quality products. Very low fail-rate in anything they have developed. However, for the people whom having an external HDD actually matters, they already know they best quality HDD to purchase. Good chance they already have one.

The people whom don’t know of such things (namely the casual crowd) more than likely would never need an external HDD. The flash memory would be more than enough to suffice. The core gamers that want to download map-packs, full-retail games, and other e-shop stuff probably already have a brand in mind in terms of an external HDD and have purchased one already or are planning to.

I do think that we should just wait and see because it’s too early in the game for this to be an issue. If I know Nintendo, they are probably working on something better than HDD expansion. They always looks beyond the obvious to start treads rather than follow them.

          • Shane

Ya true. Just let them do their job is what I heard, but still, it will take more detail to specify exactly what HDD there is to use. Like you said there are 5400, and 7200 RPM(as you just stated). See I don’t even know exactly, even more reason to support what I’m saying. Maybe Nintendo will come out with a 9000 RPM for all we know, that works to Wii U’s “high expectation of memory processing speed”(completely hypothetical). That’s how I look at things, but I do agree with you on other means of memory like the cloud which wasn’t even around to the public just a few yeas ago(from my perspective). Just like the laser transmitted internet that’s been around for who knows how long(at least 10 years or so), and it’s true. I saw it on PBS and I know it’s possible aside from seeing it on the show, but it’s not around because everyone doesn’t even have internet yet according to anylists. No lag would be included at one base price, but eventually people would find something faster(poeple always do), and the market in this situation would further even more. I hope you’re still reading these comments because you made some good points… like it being to early in the game.

      • Shane

Also, maybe Nintendo CAN optimize a Nintendo branded external HDD for the Wii U console so it can sync without temporary copying to the Wii U 32 GB HDD, like the Wii did with its 512 MB storage. Just saying, more is more, and less is more.

  • Ben

Shouldn’t it be called the WIIU Shop be called the Ushop? It seems like it would. With all of the games they are coming out with having the U symbol on them, example: ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U, Wii Fit U, etc… Like my comment if you agree with me.

  • Whoobin

Does any other indie game besides Trine 2 have online multiplayer?
