Warner Bros. Interactive announced LEGO: The Hobbit late last year with a teaser trailer and a few screenshots, but no mention of a release date. Today the publisher announced that LEGO: The Hobbit will be coming to the Wii U and other platforms on April 8 in North America, and April 11 in Europe.

A slew of new screenshots was released with the announcement, showing off Gandalf and the dwarven crew attempting to escape Goblin Town after angering the Goblin King. While this batch of screenshots focuses on that particular battle, the actual game will be based on both of the released movies so far, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug.

Will you be picking up this title once it is released?

wait will the feature the 3rd movie then?? or just the first two?

    • Arthur Jarret

Probably like Lego Star Wars – which also released before the third movie was out. I think I read something like that…

Although they could also make it like Indiana jones, where the final movie becomes half the game of the sequel and the other movies get retold through entirely different levels.

Sorry to mention other news, but Toys R’ Us is having an awesome deal right now…if you buy Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze ($50) you can buy up to THREE more Wii U or Wii games at 40% off! I Bought DK last night and got SM3DW for $35…I should have also bought Windwaker for $30 but, alas, I only have so much $$$.

  • Mario

Shouldn’t they wait till the third movie comes out?

    • Gabrielsen

Agreed. they probably just want as much money as possible.

  • D.M.T

LEGO City Undercover is still the best.

    • Inferno Uprising

One of My favorite games. excellent open world!

    • Adrian Byrne

Lego City is to this day one of the best games i’ve ever played, i really thought it could have been a system seller

      • MujuraNoKamen

It really should be. It could still do well if Nintendo would advertise it but that could be said of Wii U as a whole. Such a shame.

    • bizzy gie

It’s between that and Lego Movie Video Game.

But probably City since it’s open world which I love in video games.

I’d be interested how the Lego games are selling compared to all systems they are being released on. Should be one of the more successful 3rd party-franchises on the WiiU, shouldn’t it?

  • Magnus Eriksson

Lol! At people talking about the last movie isnt out yet. The book has been out for more than 50 years 🙂

    • LevenThumps

The LEGO games follow the movies for their games, not the books. Their previous games that have had both books and movies, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, followed the movies more than the book, with Lord of the Rings taking the exact dialogue from the movie. The trailer for the Hobbit game show this to follow the same pattern, as it shows some scenes that were in the first two movies that were not in the book at all.

  • Skelterz

They should do a lego RPG like FF or Chrono trigger just imagine.

    • Arthur Jarret

We had Paper mario RPG – why not Lego Mario RPG?

  • NyallJodhan

So many Lego games to get…my pocket is seriously hurting…

  • FilipiCn

    Hobbit! This is low trick!

  • thedeciderU

    • thedeciderU

yeah i’m kidding. LC:U is the only lego game i’ll ever play.

      • Arthur Jarret

Why? Marvel lego was well reviewed.

  • Arthur Jarret

Now where’s my bloody Lego Turtles videogame??? Sort it Travellers tales!

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I’ll consider this title. Maybe on the PS3.

    • Zuxs13

You know this is usually one of the better 3rd party games on Nintendo. they port them well, I found them far more fun on my wii than on my ps3, but maybe thats because my nephew could play me too.

  • Sam

Loved the first move. Haven’t seen the second yet, but I’m going to get this.

  • Zuxs13

Might as well pick it up, what else are we going to play? Another platformer?
