Typically LEGO games launch on every major platform, but the one exception we’re seeing to this is Lego City: Undercover, which is a Wii U exclusive. The game is being published by Nintendo, but there’s more to it than that as for why the game is a platform exclusive. In an interview with ONM.co.uk, producer Loz Doyle stated that the game would definitely lose something if it were ever ported to other platforms. “Lego City: Undercover would definitely lose something on other platforms. Chase is actually given a LEGO version of the GamePad as his Police Communicator, so it’s really woven into the story. We started with a massive array of ideas [for the GamePad] but in the end we focused on it being a police device. The map is really useful to have on at all times rather than in a small corner of the screen, plus you receive video calls from different characters.” local_offer LEGO City Undercover Nintendo wii u stars Further Reading Legendary Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go Switch is closer to getting hacked The cost of Nintendo consoles in today's dollars Wii U gets firmware update Watch the Smash 4 EVO Finals on Disney XD Take a peek at this week’s Nintendo Dow RyuNoHadouken nice implementation of the gamepad…now, watch Sony and MS come out with similar controllers for their next consoles especially since im sure theyve read this developers comments as well….they dont wanna let the big N get too many exclusives due to the gamepad….im sure this game will sell like hotcakes…day one purchase for my household for sure!!!! Chris Bingham Actually Microsoft’s next console is now being rumored to just be a tablet with a Hub and the controller is going to be using Virtual Controls and will be called the “X-Surface” while the Hub itself is being called the “Xbox”… yep just the Xbox… no joke Retro Cool If this is true, that just sounds downright ridiculous. Virtual Controls are absolutely just poopy in many ways. I dislike VCs. They do not feel proper (to me) on phones or tablets, why do they think this will work? Chris Bingham Well from a lot of sources it seems like its becoming true… Microsoft just needs to quit consoles altogether and focus on Windows because it needs it. Jay Microsoft broke everything. I dont care anymore. MujuraNoKamen You mean you’ll have a screen with only virtual buttons on like in I-pad games? how the hell would you play CoD without bumpers and triggers? I heard the “720” would be based around an improved Kinect – so there’ll surely be loads of great games… NOT!!! Destructonator 101 It will be a highly improved Kinect, so Kinect will go from a pile of shit to a smaller pile of shit. The Wii U is like cupcakes. Mmmmmmm. Oh, and then Microsoft will do the surface thing, which will be like maccas. Looks great, until taste it and realise there is a pile of shit inside that too. Chris Bingham HA! Improved Kinect my ass, the eyetoy was more advanced than that piece of crap AKT4 I have no clue where you got that from, haven’t seen any rumors about something like that. Don’t spread misinformation please, about any console. Chris Bingham Actually it was up on Yahoo News which sadly they took it down which gives some evidence that this could be and most likely true Justin Gray “I have no clue where you got that from, haven’t seen any rumors about something like that. Lots of stories like this from major news outlets. “It seems that Microsoft believes Nintendo is on to something with the Wii U’s touchscreen controller, according to a new report from Xbox World magazine. The magazine claims that Microsoft’s next Xbox will feature a touchscreen controller, much like the Wii U, although less bulky and more along the lines of the PlayStation Vita’s form-factor.” -A quote from one article. This is nothing new: Nintendo develops revolutionary game interface, the competition labels it as gimmicky, then the competition copies said “gimmick” when it outsells them for a couple years. Zorpix I’m more excited for this than i ever have been for a lego game in my life Chris Bingham Lego Lord of the Rings and Lego Batman 2 where pretty good =3 Zorpix They were, but they were just another game based on a movie. If anyone here remembers lego island 2, THAT was a great game, and entirely made by Lego. No movie help. I hope they do something similar here 🙂 Chris Bingham Lego Batman was made after the comics, was it not? Zorpix I suppose so, but they keep cashing in on major franchises is my point the turth wow. you all must be about 12 years old on this website. Lego Lord of the Rings is based off of a serious of books by tolkien. batman is a comic book created by bob kane and bill finger… go back and watch your icarly and hannah montana already… Linskarmo I believe the Lego LOTR game is more based on the movies, and it uses speech directly from them. Zorpix I realize that LOTR are books… I’ve read them. Hipster Chris Bingham I can’t wait for this game x3 I may sound like a big kid but Lego is freaking awesome!! Linskarmo Isn’t it also on the 3DS? Still a Nintendo exclusive, but I don’t remember them dropping that. I’m very excited for this game! It’s shaping up nicely. Sidney Majurie yea its on 3DS too. wonder if there id some kind of cross game features… Chris Bingham The 3DS version is going to be a prequel of sorts to the Wii U game. Linskarmo I hadn’t heard that. That would definitely be interesting. InterTripleteWorldChampion This is why Wii U is ALREADY next gen… A console is first of all its games, the gameplay and game experience they can provide. Not only power of CPU, framerate, bandwidth, and so on… This is the difference between Nintendo and the rest of the world. Tecpedz94 Release date is wrong, its not releasing in 2012 we past that date.
