It’s not such a far-fetched thing to see previously released titles on the 3DS be released for the Wii U. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is a re-mastered release of an already existing game and Resident Evil: Revelations will be released later on for Wii U. The Amazon France listing shows box art with the original Wii logo, but listed on the same image is the phrase, “Not official box art”.

Retailers often get release information before consumers and sometimes even journalists, so it makes sense that this title could be heading to Wii U soon. If so, it’ll likely be upscaled and remastered a bit for home console release, which is good news for Kid Icarus fans. Are you excited about a re-release? Would you buy this if it were available?

  • Tim van Broekhoven

I would definitely buy this. I love Kid Icarus!!!

And I hope they make the controlls with dual analog sticks, not touch…. that sucked XD

    •  While this would certainly be more comfortable, I can’t see this being feasible without scaling down the intensity of the game.  At higher difficulty levels, the game required you to zero in on your enemy instantly at all times.  You could quickly do this with the touch controls but with an analog stick the reticule would have to be slowed to avoid twitchy controls, thereby slowing down aiming speed in general.

      • Fred

        Matthew is correct here!

        • ICHI

          Wii Remote?

          • AAAkabob

I heard that gamepad comes with a touch control attachment…

          • Touchpad is an option, and so is the Wii Remote.  I’m just saying dual analog control doesn’t seem very likely.

          • Tim van Broekhoven

Yeah, maybe is the wii mote an option…

  • I’d be really excited, seeing how I’ve put off buying the 3DS one for so long

    • Fred

Why are you putting off buying such a fun device? Take the plunge!

      • the 3DS? oh I have one. I bought one within the first week. I’m an ambassador! 🙂 I meant I’ve put off buying the 3DS version (as opposed to this “new” Wii U version)

  • This game would be absolutely GORGEOUS!!!  However, seeing as I already have the original, it’ll take more than prettier graphics to warrant a re-purchase from me.

  • Aenifer

Let me think… The single and the multiplayer experience on my TV with the GamePad integration, also in HD? Yes, i would totally buy it! ^^

  • Nintendofreak

i hope they just make the controls better

    • Jonn McNally

The controls are already perfect IMHO.

  • Fred

My wife just bought me this for Valentine’s Day. If only I’d known I would have waited, but alas just as I won’t be buying Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D because we own the Wii version I’s have a hard time getting this one. However, I’m fine with them doing it, hopefully their next port will be one I didn’t get to experience like Metriod Prime Trilogy (my first metroid game was other M about a year ago and I enjoyed it and hear that the Prime games are better)

    • The Prime series was vastly superior to Other M, but Other M was a fine game if you had nothing to compare it too.  It just wasn’t what a lot of Metroid fans were expecting, especially story-wise.

I’m still holding out that the project Retro Studios is working on is something new, but Prime related.  I honestly don’t think Nintendo should keep remastering old games at this point now.  Wind Waker, RE:R, and possibly Kid Icarus should be it.  They are in desperate need of new games on WiiU.

      • Fred

If they’d just make more Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii discs I’d be more than happy to buy one and pop it in my Wii U, but since they are $199 on Amazon I won’t be getting one.

        • [000]

I bought it used at GameStop a few years ago for $65, and it broke the laser on my Wii, so I had to send it in for repairs. The game was still in perfect condition, but I sent it back too. When I returned it, I bought all 3 games separately for about $23. You’re better off trying to get all three. Even if you have to buy a Gamecube controller and memory card, it’s still worth it.
The Trilogy is a very densely packed disk, so it gets ruined faster than normal, and it may not be readable by your Wii. If you got your Wii in it’s mid-second year or later, then there shouldn’t be any problems though.

  • Παναγιώτης Κυριακόπουλος

Nope. I am tired of remastered games. It would be great if we had an original WiiU adventure of Kid Icarus.

  • This has been around since last year, as the customer “review” is from May 2012…

  • DK_Hadouken

     Excellent. most excellent.

  • It is sad that Wii U owners or fans have to speculate and imagine games for that system instead of facts about what IS coming from Nintendo.  I still don’t understand how a company releases a system and then has no new games coming!  They are very lucky that Rockstar held back GTA V.  However, when MS announces it’s next Xbox, the Wii U will be even more of an afterthought than it already is.  It should be clear that Nintendo is not on the minds of gamers anymore.

    • Fred

What are you talking about “no new games” the system is still new and there are more games than I’ve had time to play. I haven’t been able to conquer any of my Wii U games cause my time is so divided between them. There are plenty of games and more coming shortly (Lego, W101, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3)

      • D.M.T

        Ignore the troll my friend.

        • Nintedward

          Donald is a retard.

          • NkoSekirei

            along with fackmaaii

          • FackMaaii

            This made me LOL

      • FackMaaii

The Wii U has been without new games pretty much since launch. They need more games than that to keep it up. Yes it does have a good amount of games but they are pretty much all rushed ports of games that the majority already played on the other consoles. What is so special about that? Is it special because it’s on a Nintendo platform? If so, then you know the Nintendo fanatics are missing out on a lot

        • Fred

I’ve enjoyed NSMBU, Tank Tank Tank, Scribblenauts, Nintendo Land (and having learned that Rabbids Land is only $35 that’ll be next)easily enough to justify buying the system. I also bought a handful of games that I could have purchased on my PS3 instead (NBA 2k13, Trine 2, Sonic Racing), but I chose to buy them on the Wii U because I thought I’d like them better that way. I was right, if nothing else, all three can be played off TV, which comes in handy when my wife is watching Biggest Loser or American Idol that alone makes the Wii U version best in my book. Also with Sonic Racing I play 2-player a lot and not having to do split screen is awesome. There are several more games I’d like to get, but I won’t cause I don’t have enough time as I know I’ll want to get Wonderful 101, Pikmin, and Game & Wario (all 3 are exclusive). Sorry I just don’t buy that the Wii U doesn’t have anything to offer. Now if you tried to tell me that you prefer the types of games offered on the playstation and xbox that won’t be on the Wii U (GTA comes to mind and until recently Call of Duty would be mentioned here) I’d say you have a legit argument.

          • FackMaaii

Valid argument you got. Of course it’s a matter of taste when it comes to games. I love my Wii U as well. It’s just not what Nintendo first promised. They promised better 3rd party support and more games who catered to the “hardcore” audience. We are lucky to see that Watch Dogs is coming and I’m excited for Bayonetta 2 and the next Xenoblade but that’s about it for now. Hopefully more games will be announced (that interest me) at E3

    • FackMaaii

Fans being hyped over rumored news because the real good news just simply aren’t there is pretty sad. Nintendo really need to step up if they want to stay relevant. They can’t always just rely on Zelda and Mario all the time. If that is all they care about, then why not just become a software only company and make their damn Mario and Zelda games on the other consoles?

      •  That’s what I say.  They should just make games for other systems.  Even if their arrogance would prevent them from wanting to do that, they may not have many options after their latest failure in the Wii U.  Given the Wii U’s design, I doubt if Nintendo even has the money and resources to build a profitable system to compete with MS and Sony.

      • MujuraNoKamen

Hardly, there’s plenty of good news for Wii U owners, Lego City is coming soon as is Monster Hunter, Wonderful 101 and Resident Evil. You’re right, they can’t rely on Zelda and Mario for ever but considering there’s been little news on those games for over a month now, and we won’t hear from them again until E3, it’s hardly applicable here.

        • FackMaaii

Personally I don’t think Lego City is a console seller, Monster Hunter is a beefed up Wii title, no precise release date for 101 and Resident Evil is already on the 3DS and Pikmin 3 has no official release date either.

      • MugenHiryu

        This is SO true!

      • fireheartis1

Let me guess this is Donaald on a different account correct.  Geez you guys are freaking idiots.  Nintendo has way more than Mario and Zelda.  For instance, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Kirby, Metroid, Super Smash Brothers, and the list goes on.  Stop being a stupid troll because if your not Donaald your just as dumb as he is.  Enough said Good Day Sir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • FackMaaii

          I’m not Donald LOL!

I’m not saying Nintendo don’t have any more IPs. They have a ton of IPs, more than their competitors but what I’m saying is they only rely on those franchises. When was the last F-Zero game? What about Starfox? Ice Climbers and all the other ones? oh and now we get remakes of games that came out only a few years ago (Donkey Kong and possibly Kid Icarus)

And don’t call people trolls just because they have a different view than you 😉

          •  That’s right and I agree 100%

          • TrueWiiMaster

Microsoft released a remake of Halo 1.  Sony has had tons of ports and remakes, including porting their portable games to their consoles (GoW, Ratchet and Clank, Twisted Metal) and vice versa.  Various 3rd parties have done it too.  Even if this Kid Icarus rumor turns out true, Nintendo won’t be doing anything new or unusual.

Honestly, I think Nintendo has too many franchises to keep them all going.  They revived the Excite! series and Punch Out! on the Wii, and Nintendo Land is sort of an homage to some of the older franchises (Game & Watch, arcade DK, Balloon Trip, F-Zero, and Takamaru), but there are still tons of series that get passed over.  It would be cool to see F-Zero on the Wii U though.  And Starfox.  And I’d love to see an update for Ice Climbers.  I could list the franchises I want new games for.  In the end, everyone wants to see every Nintendo franchise get a new game every few years, but that’s not really possible.

          • FackMaaii

Just because the other companies are doing it doesn’t mean it’s okay.

Now HD remakes can be a nice thing so people who missed out can get the chance to play them. However I don’t see the point og making remakes or collections of games already available on current gen systems. It’s not like you can’t get them anymore.

          • TrueWiiMaster

Maybe not, but it does mean it’s something that Nintendo shouldn’t be targeted for.  If you don’t like it, attack the industry, not just Nintendo.

What Nintendo’s doing, assuming this Kid Icarus rumor turns out to be true, is no different than what Sony’s doing with the Vita: making games for both systems.

          • FackMaaii

I’m specifically mentioning Nintendo because guess what… We’re on a Wii U site.

But I make it sound like I don’t like the idea of having Kid Icarus on the Wii U. I do however. More games is always a good thing. Just wish it’s a new Kid Icarus game, but we don’t know that yet.

          • TrueWiiMaster

Well, we do know that the team behind Uprising was dissolved/redirected, and that the director is now busy on the next SSB, so I’d wager it’s not a new game.  It would be cool, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

        • Metal_Man_v2

How often do any of those games get released?  Exactly…

        •  The list does not go on, if it does, then it goes on as “Mario Tennis,” Mario Handball,” “Mario Baseball,” Mario UFC Challenge,” “Mario Sandwich Shop,” “Crazy Mario, “Liquid Mario,” “Mario in Italy!”  Yeah – list CAN go on….

          • Silent

Mario Kills Donald- thats the best one right there.

          • TrueWiiMaster

Uhh, no.  It goes Fire Emblem, Wario Ware, Wario Land, Advance Wars, Pokemon, Golden Sun, Chibi Robo, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion, Pushmo, Dillon’s, Punch Out!, Sakura Samurai, Excite!, Elite Beat Agents, Battalion Wars, Star Fox, Rhythm Heaven, Steel Diver, Sin and Punishment, Glory of Heracles, Paper Mario, Earthbound, Hotel Dusk, Kid Icarus, Xenoblade, Endless Ocean, and Pilotwings.  And that’s not a comprehensive list.  And that’s not counting many of the spin-off games, like the various Mario Sport games, Pokemon spin-offs like Conquest, Mystery Dungeon, Ranger, Snap, etc, or the various iterations of Kirby, several of which could be franchises in themselves.

          •  “And that’s not counting many of the spin-off games, like the various Mario Sport games”

          • TrueWiiMaster

Uh, so?  PS3 has Hot Shots Golf, and in the past Sony’s made Hot Shots Tennis.  That’s no different than Mario Golf and Tennis.  Of course, Nintendo has other sports games too (on the Wii they have Soccer, Baseball, a port of a Gamecube Tennis, and a variety game), but there’s nothing wrong with selection, especially when they tend to be pretty good.  Besides, I listed 30 franchises that weren’t sports games.  30.  And that’s not a complete list.

          •  My point was not sports games, it was the same old.  Sony did not promote baby games as the main feature or offerings on it’s PS systems, unlike Nintendo. Anyway, once Nintendo is done, then we won’t have this talk anymore.

          • TrueWiiMaster

Again, what baby games?  You already told me “babies” have no interest in what Nintendo makes, and admitted they prefer Xbox.

          • poolplay34

hey donald i got a question for you.  if you hate nintendo so much then what are you doing on a nintendo site?   id love to see the look on your face when nintendo puts the competition out of business because eventually sooner or later thats what will happen just like nintendo put of all of the others out of business. then what will you have to say?   nintendo is the king of video games always has been always will be and everyone knows it.   freaking loser

    • But it’s not like Nintendo has just left us out in the cold with the games we have right now.  They’ve said in their Nintendo Direct presentation that they realize that there’s not many good games out for Wii U right now.  Don’t worry, Nintendo is aware of this.  But they have better games coming out starting at March.  I know E3 will showcase the XBOX 720 and the PS4, but Wii U will be showing off all of the games that Nintendo has been working really hard on.  I think seeing Wind Waker HD, one of the best Zelda games made, as well as many other IP games and playable Mario Kart and 3D Mario games will still keep Wii U on the minds of gamers.  I think the exclusives are what has held Nintendo up a lot of times.

      • FackMaaii

I am so hyped for Bayonetta 2 and (Xenoblade 2). Hope they aren’t too far away!

        • NkoSekirei

nintendo alrdy address that this month there wasnt much coming out but next month that will change and i htink they wanted to make sure that the new games get more time in development to make sure they come out good and not too rushed

      •  Nintendo’s own IP may not be able to save the day as they should have had at least one of them out upon release like companies normally do.  They are either going to have to pay for a must-have 3rd party exclusive or come with their own games with mind-blowing graphics for anyone to notice.  If they keep playing the baby lane, they are most certainly done.

        • Silent

Haters gonna hate. Haters are ignored.

          •  What about us truthers?

          • Genesect4ssb4

Donaald, u can take ur bullshit and shove it up your ass!

          • TrueWiiMaster

Anyone calling Nintendo games “baby games” isn’t a “truther”.

          •  OK< how about old-fashioned games?

          • TrueWiiMaster

I would actually consider that a compliment, but that doesn’t always apply either.  Not when games like Xenoblade, Pushmo, Dillon’s, and Steel Diver exist.  They’re all new and unique experiences.

          •  New, but are they good?

          • TrueWiiMaster

Xenoblade was heralded as perhaps the best JRPG all gen (Metascore of 92), and Pushmo was very widely loved as one of the most unique, addicting, and puzzling puzzle games of recent years (Metascore of 90).  Dillon’s didn’t fair as well, though it’s not a bad game (Metascore of 65), and Steel Diver underscored due to being overpriced (Metascore of 58, but most reviewers cite the value as one of the biggest reasons).  Most of the reviews for Steel Diver were based on its original $40 price, but it’s now down to $20 or less.

        • TrueWiiMaster

Galaxy turned a lot of heads, and it wasn’t even in HD.

        • They did bring us a 2D Mario game right on launch day. That is one of their big exclusives.

But I think it was a poor excuse for an exclusuve at launch. I’m not one of the drones you talk about that are paid to say good things about Nintendo. Myself, like a lot of other Nintendo fans, are really tired of the New Super Mario Bros. series of platformers. So I agree with you. Nintendo should have had a solid console-selling exclusive at launch day.

But as I said, we’re not out in the cold. Big exclusives will be out during March.

And I dunno what you mean by so called “baby games” that everyone is tired of. The Nintendo exclusive have had and do have a huge following of beloved fans of all ages, experience level, and console choices.

And play The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and tell me it’s a “baby game” and so on.

    • fireheartis1

Hey Donaald there are a whole lot more games coming in March, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.  Plus if MS makes the new Xbox where it can’t play used games it’s that Xbox that would be an afterthought.  There are 20 more games coming out nex month and many more on the way.  Altough I agree with you that there should have been more games releasesd soon I am kind of tired of your trolling.  Go to an Xbox sight so you can be happy stupid moron. Enough Said good day sir!!!!!!!!!!!

      • NkoSekirei

dont forget xenoblade 2,bayonetta 2,pikmin 3,next cod, wind waker in hd,watch dogs and many other coming down the line for this year so were booked with great games coming out it seems donald duck doesnt get it

        •  If you say so.  Most of those games no one cares about and Watch Dogs could be a bust.

      •  When the new system comes out I will go there.  Baby games are not what Nintendo needs right now.

        • TrueWiiMaster

Where are they presenting “baby games”?

    • NkoSekirei

ur not on the mind of respectable gamers like the rest of us u troll

    • Silent

Get Back to me when your argument is valid and has sense.

  • I prefer a new adventure for Pit on Wii U. It will be MUCH BETTER 😀

    • Nintedward

True! But I would happily buy this game on Wiiu with the right changes. If you’re gunna take away the 3D then Make sure you make the graphics a LOT better in HD the core of the game is amazing and would look superb in HD with a load of new effects.
Dual analog controlls as standard with maybe a stylus option too!

  • MugenHiryu

This would be great news, looking forward to this years E3***

  • Johny

im a HUUUGE kid icarus uprising fan… i have over 200 hours of gameplay on the 3ds.. i LOVE everything about that game.. and controls could be very similar with the touch screen and even better, since you would have more buttons you could use (additional shoulder button and clickable stick) … but sadly, i dont think its coming any time soon :/ … mr. Sakurai was working on a 3ds kid icarus game, and when it was finished, he finally started with the new super smash bros game development.. so IF, then maybe nintendo will start with the development for new kid icarus game when the new super smash bros game is finished (which would take ALOT of time) unless someone else takes over the development of new kid icarus…but idk… it was AMAZING on 3ds and i would like similar experience in the next game 🙂

    • Marcell Wade

Another dev could oversee the remake, they really don’t need Sakurai to do that.

    • CommanderFirefox

if its just a remake then its pre safe to assume that someone else at nintendo could lead it… lets hope anyway

  • What is N thinking with this? “N: hmm maybe we remake kid icarus uprising aswell people completely hyped over RE:R (was capcoms idea but still, better stolen well then thought of badly) so we’ll do WWHD, and why not also KI:U”.

If people haven’t played it it’s definitely a good option for them, but me well if they do it I honestly find it cheap.

WW love the story, graphics not so much, I have it on GC, will I buy it on WiiU? Doubtfull. Great idea for those who haven’t played it yet.

RE:R great game, awesome graphics for 3DS, bought it earlier this month and love it. Upscaling to HD on WiiU and other consoles… Will I buy it, doubtfull again, great idea for those who haven’t played it.

And know rumors about Kid Icarus, I bought my 3DS for and with that game in the first place. Would I re-buy it on WiiU? Again very doubtfull. And again great idea for those who haven’t played it, but why? Sounds like extra income creation with these upscaled HD ports to me.

The only game I’m excited for is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, it’s a HD port, compatible with the 3DS version(safe files and your character), crossplay with 3DS, Tons of new content now that is a port worthy of my money.

  • I’ve wanted this game ever since the announcement of the 3DS version but never had the money to buy a 3DS + the game. So if this turns out to be true, I’ll DEFINITELY buy this game for my Wii U.

  • Yes! i didn’t get a chance to pick it up for the 3DS yet so this is perfect. I’d rather play a shooter with traditional controls anyway lol.

  • Srpg2ishere

I’ll wait until Nintendo confirms this. I’m not going to get my hopes up. Thank you very much.

    • Genesect4ssb4

If this were to happen, I would go wild and party for 3 days straight

      • Srpg2ishere

Not really. I’d do something like that for super smash bros 4. Kid Icarus is ok but…

        • Genesect4ssb4

Its just that I would LOVE to see Pit blushing in HD (When Phosphora called him cute and stuff, I was like dying of laughter). But ssb4 o my gawd don’t make me rage at the fact that its not here

  • Silent

  • Kirbyomega

I”VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! Now I only need $660 😀

  • Chris Da Rocha

Definite buy. Just need some Final fantasy

  • Sure, what the hell. the graphics would look so beautiful in HD.

  • Edward Thorpe

I hope you can use your 3DS saves like with the 3DS/Wii U Monster Hunter Tri 3G.

  • Looks legit

  • $41809923

  • ZanetheWise

For $20 or possibly $30 on eShop I might bite. I loved it on 3DS, and the multiplayer modes could only benefit from a better draw distance and resolution and more players.

On the other hand the game would probably murder my gamepad screen. I’d have to get a protector.

Really though, there would be so much work that would go into HD-ifying the game that I doubt it would be worth it to Nintendo. I mean, almost EVERYTHING would have to be remade. Unless they can hand it off to a talented port studio like Grezzo, I don’t see it happening.

  • I got a circle pad pro just to try and fix the major control issues, for left-hand players, with the 3ds game but it did not help, as they even implemented the games controls badly with a 2nd analogue available. Wasted enough money on this title wont touch a remake.

  • I loved the game, until I got on the ground. Idk I just couldn’t fully get used to the ground controls. I did however enjoy 90% of the game and think it would be better with the second analog, and maybe a “better” control scheme. Quite a few people actually loved the controls, and I did as well when the combat was in the air. It would be nice to see a full on NEW Kid Icarus title on the Wii U, but I will take this if there is enough changed to make it different from the original.
