The E3 rumor mill is in full effect, with a rumor that Nintendo will be unveiling new hardware at E3 quickly squashed by Nintendo UK. That hasn’t stopped the rumor that Nintendo will unveil a redesigned Wii U, which Iwata finally stepped in and stated was a “groundless” rumor. He reiterated that his company has no plans to introduce new hardware at E3 and that the company will be focusing on showing games that utilize the GamePad in a new way. The only credible rumor about new hardware is that Nintendo will be producing a new console for emerging markets, similar to how the Nintendo 2DS provides a cheaper experience in order to play Nintendo 3DS games. Sorry folks, a redesigned Wii U isn’t happening, even if it needs to happen. 32GB is just too small for a current console, especially one selling games that sometimes reach 15+ GB. RyuNoHadouken there is no excuse why the Wii U didnt launch with 120GB of storage Kenshin0011 You know when the Wii U launched I thought it was okay because they said it decreased the price for the consumer and because external hard drive was supported. But now that PS4 is put at $399 with way more powerful components and a 500gb hard drive, I agree with you. There’s no excuse Nintendo, why did you do that? McBlink I too was ok with it until the 2 gig+ day one patch was required. Bob Wilkerson It was less than 1.5GB and most of that patch data updated existing data on the Wii U replacing the OS files that needed to be updated. Just sayin’ Besides for many gamers that play off discs only the 32GB is a decent size for game saves, patches and most DLC. Sure that can fill up but for $40 – $60 you can get a 500GB – 1TB USB Hard Drive. Problem solved and that is a hell of a lot cheaper for those that need or want that compared to the costs needed to put a bigger and most likely non-upgradable HDD or Flash ROM in the Wii U. Ace J “Besides for many gamers that play off discs only the 32GB is a decent size for game saves, patches and most DLC.” and this is exactly why i don’t download games on my wii u. takes up too much space. i’m still debating weather i should get Child of Light on the ps4 or the wii u. Bob Wilkerson Well how full is your Wii U now? I do not know the size of child of light but I know before I added a 1TB USB drive to my Wii U I had two retail games, a few decent size eShop games, and tons of Virtual Console games on my Wii U and still had about 4GB left to use. Now I am beyond that as I have about 5 retail games that I downloaded and even more eshop/vc games and DLC and patches for those games. I got the 1TB drive for $39 on sale. Ace J uh idk i think i got about 20 GB left? how many retail games would that fit though? Bob Wilkerson It depends on the size. Some retail games are only 2-6GB each. But then there are some that are 10-15+GB. I think the biggest game I have downloaded is Lego City Undercover which is 19GB. That was the game that prompted me to get an external drive. I read that Child of Light is about 3GB thedeciderU eshop titles now list size so you can decide before downloading. Ace J oh the eshop does that now? wow thanks Nathan DeFalco I have a little portable HDD that sits on top of the Wii U. With a Y cable adaptor, I do not even need to plug it in to an outlet. It’s 500 gigs. Only cost me $40. Granted, a little know-how is involved, so it’s not exactly consumer friendly. But I’d rather have 500 gigs at $40 120 at what inevitably will be $50 more for the cost of the console. Kenshin0011 Sony can do it, why not Nintendo? RyuNoHadouken i dont like attaching things to my consoles…thats tacky and makes clutter audi lover A tad ocd Santiago I got a very beautiful HDD that stands vertically and looks very profesional next to the other things in my tv set Nathan DeFalco What kind of things? Power cords? HDMI cables? Sensor bars? How about any console made before 2005? They had these things called controllers that attached to consoles. Bet you hated those. Honestly, most people who come over don’t even notice there’s a HDD attached. If it’s getting in your way or looks bad, you’re doing it wrong. WT Herrod Jr. I have a 2TB Canvio drive connected to my WiiU that no one would never know was there unless I told them and even then I would have to move stuff around to show them. The cable is bundled and tucked with the rest of the cables for the sensor bar, HDMI cable and power cord, tied with zip ties. There IS a excuse (reason) that Nintendo didn’t launch the U with 120GB, they wanted to keep the price down and they wanted to use flash memory, presumably to avoid heating issues and allow a smaller console. As the price of solid state memory drops you may see your 120GB in the future but it will likely be towards then end of the U’s lifespan. Mithiragi What kind of HDD is it? Shane Michaels All hope is lost! http://cdn2.hellogiggles.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/05/steve-carrell-office.gif Nah, I’m kidding, the fact that games are coming, is good enough for me. CaptRodgers Judging on the size of Nintendo’s games, they probably didn’t realize how small the hardcover is jk. Nintendo probably felt people would just use downloads for Indies and virtual console. In all honesty though it’s not that big of a deal once you realize you can get an external hardcover dirt cheap. I saw a 2 Tb with a 32 Gb flash drive at Sam’s club for$70. They’d probably up the price fifty bucks just for half a tb in all honesty. It’s outrageous how much companies try to rip you off with a memory upgrade Christian Schoff That’s what I do. I like my discs. The 10 seconds to swap them out isn’t an issue for me. jackawoo Agreed. If space is a problem, then get off your lazy ass and go buy the disc. Problem solved. Oh, and while you waiting for the download to finish, I’ll be playing the game. And when you purchase a hard copy you actually get something for your money. And some of the books are cool too. Hard to show off your collection when there’s nothing to show. Kenshin0011 First, Nintendo almost never redesigns its home consoles. And the Wii U doesn’t need one, the gamepad is great. Now they could increase the hard drive, though that isn’t a redesign Archiq09 the wii mini. :3 Josiah Parsons Mention not the vile thing! I think there’s a reason that Nintendo never redesigns consoles. Kenshin0011 Lol! You’re right i forgot. Gonna forget again now… JB Though to be fair, you did say “*almost* never redesign” I figured that did cover the Wii mini… Though the US did see the redesigns of the NES/SNES… 🙂 Kenshin0011 Yea I was thinking about the nes/Snes matthew garcia They redesigned the Snes and Wii. They redesign just about every handheld they had also Kenshin0011 “Almost never” gimmegimmekevin The Wii Mini, the SNES, the N64 DD can be argued as a redesign, the Panasonic Q for the Cube even if it was not released everywhere, the NES got redesigned. In fact, every Nintendo console got a redesign, Wii even got two! palomino blue I don’t think a redesign is necessary. What’s the real problem with using an external drive? audi lover Im looking now for one does it really need to be mains powered to work properly? Josie the Sketcher You can use the USB powered hard drives but they recommend using the main powered ones for better performance. Hope that helps. Michael DeVore Yes, and no. The Single USB port USB stick has issues for me. I believe that the power coming off the port is insufficient to keep it up all the time. The result is that occasionally the Wii U thinks the drives been pulled out, which requires a reboot to get the drive back. This occurs mostly during the transition between applications. However, I have a duel USB port SATA to USB adapter that hasn’t exhibited that issue as of yet. Donaald Yeah, why redesign when they are no longer losing money from them? jjbredesen Exactly! Why would they release a redesign? It would create even more confusion, and they would loose some trust, but a 64GB model would be nice. Santiago 64 is not enough either, if you are sticking a large HD into a console it better be at least 250GB, otherwise, you’ll need an upgrade and its very hard to maintain two large drives. That’s why I got the 8GB one and put a 500GB HD on it jjbredesen Yeah, i have a 1TB drive hooked up, but Wii U uses flash memory, and it is way more expensive that normal HDD’s. So just making it 64GB would add an extra $20-$30. and using a HDD would require a larger console case… Rinslowe Yeah, my powered 1TB drive also happens to be the router. Nifty little device from a local smart phone manufacturer… Shota 500gb ssd HD? You think that they would put 500gb ssd hd in wiiu to make it more expensive? Santiago What I meant was that I connected via USB a 500GB disk. And that if I had the 32 GB Wii U it would be more difficult to maintain than just using the 500GB HDD for everything Shota i misunderstood….. i have a 2tb btw 😀 GmailIsDown why did they choose to use SSD? it is not like SSD is required to increase performance. both PS4 and Xbox One use regular 500 GB hard drives. Nintenjoe82 no moving parts = less chance of breaking GmailIsDown SSD breaks too. my coworker was among the first to purchase an intel SSD. it broke within a year. Nintenjoe82 SSD does perform better for certain tasks but the main reason is that magnetic hard disks only last a few years before becoming noisy and slow. SSDs should always give the same performance throughout their life. Shota well let’s say you accidentally let the wii u fall. then the regular hard drive gets shocked a bit. but ssd is in the whole hardware itself. don’t know if i explained good enough gimmegimmekevin i do wish they’d come out with an official Nintendo USB HDD, even something as lowly as 160GB-250GB would be fine. PDP sells a 320GB HDD at a massive profit at $70, so a $50 160-250GB could make Ninty some money. I think a 160GB HDD probably costs as much as the 32GB flash memory does, so they could ship an 8GB flash unit with an attachable small HDD if they really wanted to push eShop sales. Josie the Sketcher I was told you can use USB sticks. You can buy 64 gb USB sticks if that makes it a bit easier. They’re not that cheap though. Better go for the portable HDD as they’re better value. jjbredesen Yeah you can use close anything that can be plugged in using USB, even a keyboard, and yeah HDD’s are the best choice for a Wii U. Santiago Although, gigabytes are not everything in a drive. Lifespan and transfer speed are important as well. I don’t know about the lifespan of that USB drive or its transfer rate, but usually HDD or SSD are better at that jjbredesen Well if Wii U had a SATA port you could use an HDD or SSD that uses SATA and that would give you a huge advantage when it comes to how fast it is, USB 3.0 is not slow, but it is not on the level of SATA. greengecko007 I really just don’t think the HD space of the Wii U is an issue. I’m glad Nintendo didn’t make me pay for storage space that I don’t need. There’s lots of people with flash drives laying around and external storage devices are only getting cheaper. Rinslowe I had 3 or so 500GB drives just collecting dust at the time Wii U released. I guess they had me pegged from day one? Upgraded since then though to 1TB… Mercurio2054 just like me gimmegimmekevin If they market it right it won’t create confusion. Market it as Wii U Slim, now cheaper! And they’d be good. The point is, a redesign would only increase their profits if done properly GmailIsDown to improve battery life of the gamepad, maybe? matthew garcia They should redesign it just cuz the Wii u is actually kind of ugly. Doesn’t mix well with the rest of the entertainment center Santiago Wii U is the most beautiful of the current consoles in my opinion. I love it’s size, its shape and its build quality matthew garcia Ps4 looks right out of stargate. The look of the Wii u is not very appealing lookin to me . It’s all opinions though Robert DJR For me, I think WIIU is a lot beautiful than ps4, but I respect your opinion GmailIsDown ps4 looks really weird. i bought it on release day and still can’t get used to its look. but again i put both consoles under my tv and most of the time they are out of sight. Magnus Eriksson lol, you are joking? 😀 Rinslowe Actually it’s quite nice an unassuming…. Robert DJR No I found it to Santiago no, but I know my opinion is controversial for those who look for horsepower and badass-ness in consoles. I look for pretty design and quality matthew garcia Besides power I actually think the ps4 is prettier. Actually more sexy looking lol. I think the old original Wii looks better then WiiU Magnus Eriksson Huh, well, taste differs. I think its uncomfortable to look on. Its weird shped. Mayoo Nintendo can’t afford a redesign. There hasn’t been enough games out to satisfy early adopters. I will be the first to sign to a class action if this happens. matthew garcia Oh Nintendo can afford to redesign. There losing money but there still loaded Mayoo I meant they can’t afford to do it in respect for the early adopters. If buying it after one year is considered “early”. If they redesign, it would have been the shortest first-version console lifespan in history (Virtual Boy doesn’t count because just no) matthew garcia I understand what u mean but they do it all the time with the handhelds. The big screen versions always come out to fast and piss me off Mayoo Same, but at least they are doing it after some good games has come out. Now I just feel like my U is sitting at home, waiting for a new game, while crying and spooning with my PS3. matthew garcia Yeah man I understand Santiago But they gave a veery good reward to the 3DS early adopters. I would pay a lot of money for an Ambassador 3DS just for the exclusivity matthew garcia The only reason why they came out with the 3ds xl is cuz the original 3ds sales were horrible. It actually helped turn things around. Maybe it could work with Wii u since its sales are crap Mercurio2054 every company do that, apple, sony, xbox and otgers. greengecko007 It looks good next to my fat PS3, but hey, opinions. matthew garcia Fat ps3 was ugly to me lol but all opinions greengecko007 Yeah the original fat PS3 doesn’t look as sleek as the slim or super slim models, but it still works great so I don’t have any complaints. Rinslowe Impressive…. I haven’t seen one of those for a while. I have the slim model. Mercurio2054 ps2 looks like a radiator matthew garcia Yeah I think ps2 and ps4 looked great but somethin about ps3 has the wrong curves for me Donaald Well, that’s like just your opinion and very irrelevant to the majority. rafael ironicly, i think the wii u is the only current console that doesnt look like a toy :/ or a prop in a star wars movie bob Well I don’t think redesign is needed, but how about something more to hook to the wii u to add a new level of gameplay. Like add ons for the tablet that actually more than a normal tablet does. Seriously the tablet has it’s positives but nothing new was added to mainstream gaming because of it. Wii had motion controls going mainstream. Something needs to be done hardware or software wise and considering the drought of software where else can the change come from. Mercurio2054 like a usb addon for be like the xone a cble box more cool apps and things like that Rinslowe Not to mention the hard drive is not a strong place to make a case for redesign anyway. Doesn’t the average consumer have at least “one”, portable drive spare these days? Magnus Eriksson New ways to utilize game pad + Quality of Life Fitness ideology = Sports involving throwing the gamepad. We will get gamepad discus throw. Throw the pad We will get gamepad archery. Hit the gamepad with an arrow We will get gamepad bob sled. Oooooiiii! look how fast it goes. We will get gamepad football. Hard to kick, but it is fun There. I just blew E3 an Qol for you. Shota Nintendo merging markets lol wtf are they thinking? Do they don’t wanna sell wiiu so bad? DoctorWily lmao Daniel Gonzalez I can see Nintendo trying their hand at this. GmailIsDown i still don’t understand what their “Quality of Life” stuff is about, especially when they explicitly said it was not wearable. i hope it will not turn out to be a big pile of nothing. steveb944 I just download whatever games I’m currently playing, otherwise content remains on Eshop. Thankfully we can re download freely. Sam People have flash drives just sitting around their houses. Use them. Kenshin0011 That stereotype is getting old Sam Why? My family has at least 4 or 5. Kenshin0011 Your family is unique, just like everybody elses. Also, most common flash drives people use are 8gb and under, which does not hold many games Sam That’s what we have; 8GB. Although I haven’t downloaded any big games. Just VC and ArtAcademy: SketchPad. I’d rather have the physical version. Kenshin0011 Great but Nintendo wants people to buy full retail games via eShop and many gamers want to as well, but Nintendo shot itself in the foot with its 32gb cap. Less even with the OS and day 1 patch Pinky Peach Well, all consoles had a first day patch… And buying an external HDD isn’t the hardest thing on earth now is it? Kenshin0011 Didn’t say it was…However it’s a barrier to those who might be more inclined to buy big games via eShop if there was more built in, something Nintendo could have easily done. It would only have helped them gamingpalooza When Nintendo designed the Gamecube… it was designed specifically to be the most powerful console, with an awesome controller. Nintendo really needs to work on their next console becoming the absolutely most powerful, dominating machine out of all consoles. It doesn’t matter what the price tag is, we will buy it…. Screw the gimmicks… the Wii U pro controller is a great controller, just give us an updated version of that… stop messing around. Nintendo can do this… they have the money to do it and if they do choose to do this, they need to give this machine the most menacing name that they can possibly give it. Make this Nintendo console badass… the Nintendo Havoc! Christian Schoff No, shut up! Some of us like, nay love, the gamepad. That shit is the best idea ever. 1000x better than Kinect because now I can see stuff on my screen that other players can’t. Now I can play and when a family member says “turn it off because I want to watch blah de blah” I don’t have to. There are 6 people in my family. That’s a lot of people who want to watch blah de blah. Rinslowe “Now I can play and when a family member says “turn it off because I want to watch blah de blah” “There are 6 people in my family. That’s a lot of people who want to watch blah de blah.” Hahaha! That had me cracking up. 🙂 Josiah Parsons Good point. Nintendo needs to prove a bit of dominance. However, the gimmicks are great. The gamepad is pretty brilliant! Ace J or they could update the gamecube controller, my favorite controller of all time. but in a sense you’re kinda right. i have always said, if nintendo can get the same third party support as Microsoft and Sony, and combined that with nintendo’s amazing 1st party games, that will be one badass console. *sigh* but i can only dream of that ever happening. McBlink Good! Focus on games to pad your existing hardware. Kenshin0011 Why does everyone think that increasing the hard drive = a redesign? It’s not, it’d be just upgraded storage. They still might do that Ashley King It’s still a different SKU in terms of retail. Kenshin0011 Yea but if the console and gamepad are unchanged it’s not a redesign. person exactly, a new SKU with a bigger amount of flash memory could be announced. A resign is almost always to make the console smaller and cheaper, and I think the Wii U is as small and cheap as it can be for a while. Santiago I don’t think they will resign any time soon :p Kuromad I wouldn’t be surprised if they released an official USB harddisk, perhaps with some preinstalled stuff on it to make it worth buying over a generic one. Grendelmon I’ve been wondering the same thing. I could see them having the external case look like a “mini” Wii U, and offer either black or white. oregano Would a larger hard drive would have been better? Yes. That is probably always true. No matter how big or small. Just buy extra storage. I don’t understand the issue here. Kenshin0011 I think Nintendo is in a situation where they need to, more than ever, cater to fans and potential Wii U owners. oregano I would venture to guess hard drive space isn’t the issue holding people back. If Wii U had 2 TB, more than other 2, it would not change anything but the price of initial purchase. It’s bad publicity and consumer ignorance holding it back. Also if you are a gamer who needs a new $60 game a month to tide you over, you can just forget about it. Thoughts? Kenshin0011 You’re right there are several other issues, many that are more important. But still, considering how simple and easy it’d be for Nintendo to include more hard drive space, it would only help them Allvalve A Wii U redesign isn’t going to happen. Nintendo have bought the handheld and home console business together for a reason, a redesign of the hardware would scupper the long term objective. In the current and future market a company of Nintendo’s size cannot afford to develop for two or more distinct platforms so they have to have a unified architecture. All this talk of the “fusion” concept is way wide of the mark. Yes Nintendo have said that the handheld and console business are to be unified, but if I had to put money into the future approach I’d speculate on this: 3DS successor (2015)- WiiU hardware meaning recycling of dev kits and software already created for Wii U meaning quick and high quality ports/adapted software. Emerging market console (2015)- Wii U based, but with touch pad removed, diminished or no on board storage, disc drive removed with a proprietary (and cheap) storage medium. Wii U Successor( late 2016)- 8 core PPC750 derivative clocked at 1.8ghz (there’s been roughly a 55% increase in clock speed per core from GC-Wii-WiiU so this would be in line), 1600 ALU GPU based on latte but clocked 50% higher at 825mhz to have parity with the new processor, and 8-10gb ram main memory, plus 2gb OS memory. This would allow the same game engines to be interchangeable between all 3 platforms meaning quicker turnaround on software, better cost control on the hardware, and the opportunity for the Wii U 2 to play a huge library of software from day one with 3DS 2 and Wii U backwards compatibility. Purple They could make a Mario sandbox where stars are just out of reach but if you draw on the gamepad you bring up hidden platforms. Add some puzzle elements. Jump’nShootMan If Nintendo really felt that the storage space was a problem, why not just partner with Memorex or Seagate or someone to bundle a 1-2TB external drive with the WiiU? They could buy the drives in bulk to save $ and then also save on redesign/ manufacturing costs; so wouldn’t have to raise the price of the console as much. Kenshin0011 That’s a really good idea! Jump’nShootMan I was just thinking about this more… why not go further with it? Release a “WiiU Digital Bundle” that includes the hard drive + $60 of eShop credit instead of a game (and controllers / whatever else). That would allow Nintendo to keep the SKU in stores for a long time since it wouldn’t be tied to a specific game’s popularity. Josiah Parsons Even better: focus on the awesome Wii U Indie support and release one with the $60 card, hard drive, and a discount on select indies. triplegamer3K . Nes themed wii u with all the nes virtual console releases pre installed. Josiah Parsons That would get hardcore fans into it. Maybe instead of nes virtual console they get all the NES remixes? Cuz at that point, why not just run an emulator. triplegamer3K . Yeah. Why not both virtual console and nes remix 1+2 pre-installed? Gameonfool I think Nintendo will blow minds this E3. Ace J i’ve been hearing this for the past few years. still waiting for my mind to be blown……. leo no not with Iwata and his BS Josiah Parsons They need to. I try to be optimistic, but the Wii U is a goner if Nintendo doesn’t attract gamers fast. Zelda and Smash Bros are coming, but Nintendo needs to do some more fan service. I’m talking Metroid, Star Fox, Kirby, and F-Zero. Gameonfool Also they should get games like eternal darkness on the system or as they close to sega why not help fund to get a new exclusive shenmue. It’s things like that they need to do. I agree if their E3 is not at least good they are done. This is their last chance. condor87z We can only hope. Josie the Sketcher I mainly buy physical copies of games. Only download eshop indie games which most are at 1 – 2 gb at least. I got so many portable hdd lying around that I need to use them. Besides 500gb portable hard drives don’t cost much. It’s just like the 4gb Xbox 360 condor87z Don’t need a redesign anyway. Just need more games. Daniel Gonzalez Of course, and a redesign. condor87z Just because of the internal storage? An external hard drive would work fine, heck Nintendo can even slap their brand on it and sell it. Daniel Gonzalez Nah, just messin’ with ya. We both know they won’t, but that would be a good option. David Trail There is more than enough games. I have over 20. condor87z You have to admit the library is pretty small. I’m not saying the games out right now are bad or anything, just need more. David Trail It is not small for me. You must have limited taste. SM3DW, Pikmin 3, DKC TF, NSMBU/ New Luigi Bros U, Zombi U, Lego City Under Cover, Nintendo Land, Game and Wario, Sonic Lost World, Wii Party U, Monster Hunter Ultimate, Zelda Wind Waker HD just to name some of the 20 retail games that I have. condor87z It has nothing to do with “limited taste” I honestly like most of those games. The problem is many games that are being released are virtual console games. Plus there are many remakes and ports as well. A SNES Day Off The real question is will Iwata turn up to E3 with that rifle? Reggie is ready… Alan Michael Hensley ture, 32GB is not enough, but its better than 4GB, and i can use an external HDD, so my Wii U actually have 1 terabyte now 🙂 flclfool Everybody supports external hard drives now. Kay Wrobel Why is everybody harping on the internal storage? It’s simple and cheap to just add an external USB hard drive if you need more. I for one still have like 50% available on the internal 32GB memory. I think, Nintendo also does not see that need. You can’t install a disc-based game on the internal storage anyway, like the 360 can and the PS3 (on certain games). Soooo. Idk, not required for me. Mayoo I stopped reading at “Iwata”. Mr Ninty haha at first i thougt he was holding a pool cue :p SolarShane13 Of course they’re not going announce their plans before E3. LMAO to the people who actually believes wherever Nintendo says. Leo It is the media that needs to “redesign” their stance on Nintendo… gimmegimmekevin He didn’t say they wouldn’t redesign the Game Pad? They should come out with a cheaper, Game Pad mini with like a 4 inch screen that doesn’t cost as much to make, bundle it with the 32GB system and no game for $249-$269, then make the $329 Mario Kart 8 SKU with a Game Pad XL (or normal Game Pad) the Deluxe SKU DragonSilths Whats the point? Nintendo is no longer taking a loss, the price on the tech has gone down enough to were its not a big deal to make a cheaper Gamepad. David Trail I think a redesign would be awesome. A sleeker game pad. A big hard drive and Nintendo TVii finally introduced into uk and also ability to use more than one game pad. anthony optimo A lighter, more streamlined gamepad couldn’t hurt. Yuma Tsukumo Iwata has had so many chances. If his new console plan in China doesn’t work, Nintendo need to fire him. The company need new, young blood at the helm that knows what the core gamer wants, Iwata doesn’t know what the core gamer wants as he has shown on numerous occasions. He has also made a misjudgment regarding China. He wants to introduce a budget console in the ‘new’ markets that are available. I’m not saying this idea is bad, but he should see that with China’s current game restrictions he should STRONGLY consider selling the Wii U and 3DS over there as Nintendo games tend to not breach those restrictions. Even Microsoft are releasing the Xbox one in China but im sure they know that many of the games available for the console won’t ever be released over there because of these said restrictions. China has a very large population and this really seems like a mis-opportunity for Nintendo. Here’s hoping Iwata will reconsider this plan; If not his time at Nintendo will end very soon. jackawoo China excepts technology so they can copy it and sell their “own”. Look at thier car industry. Yuma Tsukumo They’ve done that with previous consoles that haven’t been released over there. Nothing changes. freddd nintendo just need to confuse comsumers again with the wiiu. pretend its new console and name the nintendo U its a easy win. Nintenjoe82 *quashes jackawoo A bunch of fucking pussy’s. If you can’t figure out how to maximize your wiiu then go get the other and spend the extra $$ . This is a game systems not storage unit, deal with it, there are ways. Most of you are just being lazy. companyoflosers they have no reason for a redesign! they wouldnt make a slim because the wii u is already the smallest damned thing out there. they wont change the specs because that means any games they make for the new version wouldnt be available to those that bought the original and theyd lose trust. they wont add more memory because flash memory is expensive as hell. am i missing any other reasons? Greg Lanciotti Im sorry iwata but you you are a moron. You’re going to tank the company. What a stubborn, arrogant old man Wilks Iwata is a moron because he wants Nintendo to showcase games that show off the usage of the WiiU? Yep, totally a moron. Greg Lanciotti yeah who wants to do that Greg Lanciotti he lives in 1994 Cinnfaelidh They don’t need to redesign it, just re-name it. Not a complicated re-name mind you, but calling it the “Nintendo U” would be a really nice step. http://i.imgbox.com/GYDHlvbt.png Krzysztof Why people bitch so much about that hard drive. External 500GB HDD, nowadays, cost as much as new game. xXFloydianXx Yep. Scored a Buffalo Ministation HD for about $50 last year. leafsfan73 What are you talking about 32gb isn’t enough. Buy a hard drive if you want more. Wii U is the only next gen that can use an external hard drive. You can have 2TB on the wii u if you want. PS4 and XBone are limited to 500gb as you can’t use external. So that argument is baseless. Agent721 I bought a Seagate hard drive for $70 on Amazon. One terabyte & recommended for use by Nintendo for the Wii u. Mike he should be fired . let nintendo of america design and take 100% control of the company. bad news sells It’s not the system’s fault. If there’s no marketing how are people going to know you have something for sale? I think I saw one commercial for it one time on the family channel.
