Satoru Iwata Wii U

While the Wii U may have pushed 400,000 united in the US during the launch week, sales have slowed considerably and many people are calling the console a flop. Consumer interest may have slowed, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata isn’t worries despite the Wii U missing sales predictions.

“At the end of the Christmas season, it wasn’t as though stores in the U.S. had no Wii U left in stock, as it was when Wii was first sold in that popular boom. But sales are not bad, and I feel it’s selling steadily.”

Iwata has declined to give specific details on Wii U sales or Nintendo’s expected forecasts for the console, but in an interview with Reuters he did state that the company will continue to find new ways to increase Wii U sales in the ever-changing market. Previous expectations for the Wii U sat at 5.5 million Wii U devices sold by the end of March. Whether or not Nintendo will make this prediction remains to be seen, but there are many upcoming titles in the next two months that could push Wii U sales.

  • The price is something to look at when answering the question why the
wiiu hasnt sold as many units asn wii? after this holidays seasons ended
I went to some stores and I saw a lot of Wiius that nobody bought, I’m
from Mexico and the wiiu is not having a great time here, for once the
deluxe set cost 7300 pesos, thats equivalent to 605-610 dollars, and
i’ve seen the same price in the hole country, I mean I think the price
is too high in other countries. So imagine if there are parents in USA
thay might say 350 dollars are a lot of money in other countries thats
just insane and i’m pretty sure not a lot of kids in other zones in the
world got a wiiu for the holidays

2 million systems sold since Nov 19… Why is that not phenomenal?

They were probably expecting 2M in in 2 weeks instead of 6!

People will be really dissapointed when they don’t get this amazing console and it’s sold out everywhere. Better act fast, it’s not a flop

  • uPadWatcher

It’s a good thing that the Wii U have sold over 2 million units worldwide.  There’s a stronger possibility the U would DOUBLE that when Sega releases Aliens: Colonial Marines (I’m buying it for Randy Pitchford!) and Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends.

The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as well. Note that all of these are just launch window games.

if you want to sell your consoles you need to make online one of the best out there or give up right now.
