We took a look at Hyrule Warriors at the Nintendo booth today, which had several kiosks set up for the game. At the beginning of the demo you can choose your playable character, either Link, Zelda, Impa, or Midna so far. Each of the characters has their own unique attack sets and abilities. You can see we chose to play as Zelda this time around and as always her special attack encompasses her expert use of the bow. The demo was pretty brief in terms of what it offered, but fans of the Dynasty Warriors series will find a lot to love here. You can see toward the end a King Dodonga comes and we end up taking him out. local_offer E3 2014 hyrule warriors Nintendo wii u stars Further Reading Switch vs Wii U game case size comparison Miyamoto dismisses the Wii U as a “nece 6 reasons to grab a Nintendo Switch before March 6 reasons to skip the Nintendo Switch for now Nintendo Switch Amazon Pre-Order Watch the Nintendo Switch reveal live! Shane Michaels http://i.minus.com/ibikhNsp2OoqrU.gif Arobin10 It looks exactly like dynasty warriors with Zelda skins. Online coop would be nice though. Ashley King That’s pretty much what the game is, to be honest. If you don’t like Dynasty Warriors mechanics, you’re probably not going to like Hyrule Warriors. Cena’s Smirk I’ve never played a dynasty game. I already made up my mine that I am getting this. just wondering, can’t really see from the video but do NPC do anything. they just seem to be standing around. when link takes the dragon down, wouldn’t it be cool if all the soldiers start hacking at it. also, do dynasty games have online multiplayer? I think it would make a good online experience. opposing players trying to take over the map. MerryBlind . That online multiplayer idea would be amazing. The 2 screens co-op is already awesome, but having online multiplayer in a Dynasty Warriors game would be epic. Cena’s Smirk maybe Hyrule warriors will be the first online multiplayer… Stephen Macneil Ashley, can you confirm that the game was running on easy? The fact that the enemies aren’t even attacking concerns me as I was actually considering buying this game. Thanks! majora :D Being a fan of Zelda because of it’s gameplay, I think this game is more about fan service than anything, which is not a bad thing per sé, but in order to play this game you got to get in the hype train. It’s like a gigantic but well writen fanfic made true palomino blue I originally read, “It’s like a gigantic butt well”… majora :D That made me laugh xD Christian Schoff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2Qzc2-EBnY steveb944 Never played Dynasty Warriors. Seems you go save people in battle, complete objectives, kill bosses, complete missions all in real time. Looks good, I’d welcome a true Dynasty Warriors on Wii U. I hope the length is good considering the fast pace. J_Joestar that really is the gist of it usually. There is Musou Orochi 3 is the closest thing to a true DW on the Wii U afaik. steveb944 Thanks! I’ll keep that on my wish list, great price. Pilu Skifte Grønvold https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbGr72lrmPA palomino blue Anyone else find that guy playing to be kind of a dick? Rinslowe Yep, this is a day one for me. Take it for it is and have some fun with the awesomeness, lol. Saikou Braza nii-san please show a recording playing as Impa!!! Ben English A lot of those Bokoblins aren’t even bothering to attack. It looks like the difficulty is non existent. crocodileman94 That’s because they’re playing on an easy difficulty level. They only bother to attack you on the harder ones. J_Joestar AI difficulty can range a lot in DW games, maps have various star ratings on them as well as 3-4 difficulty settings for each map that range from enemies barely attacking to you constantly getting poked out of combos (and dying in a couple of hits). Capt. Smoker http://media.bestofmicro.com/N/X/415581/original/FMV_-The_Faces_of_Evil-.png them graphics on Wii U Flintinator Oh, God!!! Rinslowe If they can maintain a smooth framerate with the full quota of enemies on screen at once. Then it’ll be really smooth gaming. I’ve mildly enjoyed the series in the past so this ode to the Zelda universe is groovy. Looks good. I’m in. darkcreap I am picking this 100% sure. Kyle I really don’t like those text boxes on the middle of the screen all the time. Actually, all those elements are blocking the screen too much. BIG Franky looks cool! Sylux Looks actually very good, wasn’t sure what to expect at first, never played any dynasty warriors game before either. But it certainly looks like a worthwhile game to play among others in 2014. pbd2 This doesnt look very good brian Whoever was playing has zero skill. “First time playing” isn’t an excuse. It was simply low gaming skillz. discuss If it wasn’t for the Zelda theme they would have a lot less interest. Bad textures, bad camera and boring game play. greengecko007 It’s a shame the textures haven’t improved since last year, but it’s obvious things like that had to be compromised in order to keep the game stable with hordes of enemies onscreen and co-op multiplayer capabilities. discuss I don’t think that’s obvious. greengecko007 Sometimes you have to sacrifice things in development. Mario Kart 8 runs in native 720p at 59-60 fps and looks great, but has absolutely no anti aliasing. The framerate is also halved in 3-4 person local multiplayer. Likewise, I’m sure they had to choose what to prioritize for this game in order to keep it running smoothly. The less than stellar textures were probably done as a compromise to keep the game stable. discuss I find it hard to believe this is the Wii U’s maximum.
