Which are you going to scoop up? local_offer eShop indies Nintendo sale wii u stars Further Reading F-Zero X gets updated on Wii U to fix control New Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer and game Super Mario Maker Wii U vs 3DS comparison (vi Get Ocarina of Time on 3DS for only $14 New teaser site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild released How to track NES Classic Mini stock in time for Christmas Jason Zorpix, you’re the man. Zorpix No, YOURE the man! 😛 Rugmouse Trine 2 is a steal for that price. I’m a bit disappointed that Nano Assault Neo isn’t discounted more in-line with some of the other titles (say, $4.99), but it still may be enough for me to bite. Is the demo still up so I can try it out, first? I saw it was made available last week. Jason What genre would you place Trine 2? How does it play? And is it casual or hardcore (difficult… not Call of Duty “hardcore”)? I’m always trying to find new games, a reply would be well appreciated! Rugmouse It’s a 2D Puzzle Platformer – that’s the best way I can describe it. You assume control of three characters (all of which have their own tools) that can be swapped out with the touch of a button. You have to solve little puzzles to get through each stage and collect tokens, which can be used to strengthen your classes via skill trees. The game can also be played with a couple of friends, either local OR online! Both multiplayer and single player experiences are quite fun. Some of the puzzles can be tricky, too! FoxMulder900 The game is also very pretty! Jason Definitely getting that as a Christmas Eve Eve present for myself today. (‘: Also I wonder why my comment got downvoted… Rugmouse The internets can be a cruel mistress, best to leave her be when she gets feisty. Here, take my +1 and my condolences. Magnus Eriksson Its very much like a mix between Call of Duty, Pac Man and Space Invaders. BIG Franky it is WELL worth $8…. and I think graphically it rivals anything available on the Wii U right now. very fun game…. if I had to think of a reasonably comparable game maybe Faxanadu from the original NES days? Jeffery02 I guess I’ll try Toki Tori for the first time then. Maybe it’ll even get me to get the second one later. MAYBE. 😛 FoxMulder900 I was thinking the same thing, although I’m wondering if the first one is worth playing considering the second one is available for only 5 bucks more. Ace The first one is a GREAT game. I would get it at that price. Very fun. Jeffery02 I figure that if the first one had enough of a following to get a sequel, then I should see what the big deal was. Then I can see what the sequel improves upon or changes. Magnus Eriksson Definitley worth 1.99. NintenScience Agreed. caperusitaroja34 I bought both Toki tori and Toki tori 2+ I paid twice and there were two downloads in download manager followed by an update. Result is I only have Toki tori 2+ in my Wii U and original Toki tori is not there !!! Later that day E-shop crushed and is unavailable till now. anhell Pacman game is gonna be mine 😀 Zorpix Let me know how it is 😀 RyuNoHadouken it sucks…i have it on PC BIG Franky what sucks about it? can you offer more meaningful insight? seriously curious…. my kids watch the show on Disney DX and have pestering me for the game…. RyuNoHadouken thats what my son did to me, but even he thinks it sucks…lol…i got it for free, so thats a plus, but the game is repetitive, bland level design, dull soundtrack, extremely easy and just overall not a good time…its about as fun as Garfield Kart nin-10-doughfan me 2! Wayne Beck lol Was thinking the same thing. $20.00 might actually be the right price point for that game. RyuNoHadouken more like $2…i have it on PC…it sucks NintenScience Toki Tori Daniel Schwarz Also a good game 🙂 Daniel Schwarz If you don’t have trine 2, I would take advantage if you like puzzle platformers. It also has a charming storybook style with lovely narration and enchanting visuals. It’s the perfect game to play in bed (if your Wii U Gamepad can reach that distance)–like curling up with an old book. Zorpix It’s so beautiful, and I agree 100% Squid Is it like Klonoa? Just with no 2.5D? Daniel Schwarz Sorry, never played Klonoa. The gameplay of Trine 2 is centered on the fact that there are three characters with unique abilities. The knight has a sword and hammer, the thief has a bow and grapple, and the wizard can conjure boxes and planks, and move objects by making them float. As you advance through the chapters, you use these abilities to gather orbs that allow you to level up and improve your abilities and gain new ones. It is possible to progress without gathering all the orbs, but the more you get, the more you can leverage the characters’ abilities. If you have someone else to play with, you can play co-op. Story wise, you are discovering, through clues, what happened between two princess sisters that lead to some kind of a disaster. I don’t want to give more away. I hope that helps 🙂 whitemanmacdaddy as it turns out, I bought trine 2 a while back during a different sale and a glitch or something must’ve made me receive it for free as it didn’t deduct any money. I decided to not question a good thing, the game was pretty good too. Mason742 Steam is selling it for $1.99 Fred Has anyone played Pac-Man. It has me VERY interested. I don’t think I can turn down Mutant Mudds here. greengecko007 I highly recommend Trine 2 and Pacman the Ghostly Adventures. Trine is fun alone or with friends, and although Pacman may not be the platforming masterpiece that Super Mario 3D World is, is still fun and imaginative. Fred What can you tell me about Pacman? It has me interested, I might bite. greengecko007 The level design is creative and varied and the power ups are cool. The graphics are mid range though, and definitely don’t use much of the Wii U’s potential. I find it to be quite fun and very much on par with the Pacman World 2 series. For $20 it’s a good deal. wiimenonowiiu Great deals SecretX bought all of them but two games. they’re pretty good. Fred Thanks, Zorpix, for the article. These type of articles are very helpful. Both in the short and long run (if lots of us buy these while they’re on sale these companies will be more likely to do sales like this more often) Zorpix Just doin my job! Thanks :3 I hope it helps a lot of people! Fred Also Best Buy has a great Wii U console sale if anyone wants to pick one up before Christmas for a family member or friend http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat319500050004 Zorpix Thanks for reminding me! SomeFluffer64 I wonder what will be on the eShop for North America this week? I’m hoping for a Link to the Past… Justagamer Already have all those games BIG Franky if you have friends to play with, TNT Racers is a must have…. super fun. Zorpix can you play online? Adam Howell The recent puzzle game Rush was good fun for something that was only £1.75 ish and, as a pleasant surprise, featured one of my all time favourite computer game characters. Pikachief But Trine 2: Complete Story on Steam is only $2 right now! Nothing5555 True, Nintendo should at least make Trine 2 $4-5 dollars. Falcoxcalibur Maybe I am mistaken, but I understand that the eShop prices are determined by the developers, not Nintendo. Nothing5555 hmm.. then maybe Steam “forces” these price cuts? Adam Howell I do wonder if game devs realise how much they’re undervaluing their own games sometimes. One of the big reasons I’m far more likely to pay full price for a Nintendo first party game is because I know it’ll stay pretty much the same price for years to come. Daniel Schwarz Temporary price cuts tend to boost sales even after the price cut expires because it gets people talking about the game again. While it is savy for you to wait for price cuts when they are expected, and take the plunge immediately when you know no price cut is imminent, many can’t wait to get their hands on compelling content. Remember, with Wii Ware Nintendo enforced that the prices had to be fixed. The developers are very happy that they have this freedom on the eShop because it actually helps them. Adam Howell Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about getting cheap games, but I’ve been holding off getting Spitter Cell on Wii U until it was available cheap (I only ever download games and last Nintendo Direct in eu says its having a half price special offer after xmas day, so I’ll get it then.) This reason, and the fact that even when it is cheaper you normally find a lower price elsewhere, could be yet another reason why Nintendo games tend to do far better than third parties on Nintendo systems. Would say, I have regular trine 2 on pc and Trine 2 dc on Wii U and one of the best things about the Wii U version is controlling the Wizard with the gamepad. It’s actually a good example of how the gamepad can enhance the gameplay of a game. BIG Franky I picked up Splinter Cell for $19.99 from GameStop during Black Friday weekend with a sale plus a coupon. Its an awesome game! vGameOn Sale Dates Below: PAC-MAN And the Ghostly Adventures: $19.99 (December 25th) Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams: $11.99 (December 26th) Little Inferno: $4.99 (January 2nd) Toki Tori 2+: $7.49 (January 2nd) TNT Racers – Nitro Machines Edition: $4.99 (January 2nd) Mutant Mudds Deluxe: $4.99 (January 2nd) Toki Tori: $1.99 (January 2nd) Star Wars Pinball: $4.99 (January 2nd) Chasing Aurora: $3.99 (January 2nd) Nano Assault Neo: $7.99 (January 5th) Trine 2: Director’s Cut: $8.00 (Until January 9th) juancamiloarq Hey what about TNT Races? Holy shit… Je Saist I grabbed Nano Assault myself. Quite an interesting take on the Twin Stick Shooter. Elitepwnsface I can get trine for $2 on steam. Cahone Those are the same games from last year, and are still way overpriced. Wiiluigi I gotta look at some reviews for PAC man. That might be the one. But after reading about trine 2 through everyone here I’ll give that a try too. Thanks everyone! Merry Christmas. C.S. Bailey Either all of the previous Wii U owners were bored today, or a bunch of people got systems; I haven’t been able to get into the eShop for 5 hours now.
