505 Games has released a new trailer for their zombie apocalypse survival game, How to Survive. The game is out now on PC and Xbox 360, but a PSN and Wii U version will be coming later this year. Initial impressions of the title have been good, so it’ll be exciting to see this one release on the Nintendo eShop.

You’ll have to use your wits to craft new weapons and survive an onslaught of zombies headed your way. Can you survive?

Let us know if you’ll be getting this one when it’s released for Wii U in the comments!

weren’t they going to leave content out for the Wii U version like the online portion or something? I thought I remember them announcing that about this game a while back.

    • If I remember correctly, there will be no online for Wii U.

      • Jon

yeah, that’s what I thought. So that means I won’t be buying. 505 Games seems to be doing this kind of thing with all their games.

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

They’re doing other stuff with the game. They’re not making it online focused on the WiiU

          • Jon

well, personally, I’d rather the online. I’ll see what changes (if any) there are compared to the three versions but I am not expecting too much. We all saw sniper elite.

      • Baum 「ツリー」

Aw I totally forgot that THIS was that half-assed port by one of the laziest (and worst) dev Teams in existence oO

  • bizzy gie

Love survival horror (zombie) games! I’m also glad that Wii U isn’t last to get a game.

This games reminds me of State of Decay.

  • Trirulian

Eh, i feel like Zombi U is still better

    • Javy G

I know, I like Zombie U. Just wish Ubisoft wasn’t abandoning it due to sales. I’m sure they know how to make immense improvements if they developed a sequel.

      • BIG Franky

agree…. a ZombiU Chicago or New York would be awesome…. but it will never happen since only 148 people (approximately) bought the first one, LOL…

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Its the highest selling 3rd party game on the WiiU with a 1:7 attache rate

          • BIG Franky

the sales argument makes perfect sense….. it doesn’t matter how many units are sold….if at the end of the day the title doesn’t make money. who cares about attach rates if the game cost more to produce than the income it produced…. it wasn’t profitable. end of story….
now can a sequel come in the future? I hope so!!! who knows, maybe this holiday season is HUGE for Nintendo and by the end of next year the number of Wii-U consoles out there more then doubles and there is like a 9 million Wii-U install base…then maybe it bears revisiting… but until then, I cant say I blame them.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

No its called wasting money. ZombiU was made in 9 months, and is very low budget, yet the game was ported from the Xbox, then turned into Killer freaks then turned into ZombiU then rushed out for launch. Game goes on to half a million+ and you say it wasnt profitable? A game that alot of WiiU owners pick up as they get the console? You fucking kidding me Ubisoft? Then they end up porting things making them multiplatform and between the time wasted and the money spent it turns out not to be worth it.

Attache rate tells you what people respond to on the base. Nintendo console players love their survival horror. Resident Evil’s the prime shining example.

          • Agent721

I thought Zombie U was terrible. After left 4 dead & dead island, I’m nit sure how anyone can love it. I traded in almost immediately.

          • leo

            Zombi U is Survival Horror

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Because its not an action game

          • Kiefer Wickham

it wasnt profitable dude, end of story. big companies need to make big money and zombieU didnt get them enough

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

It not being profitable has to do with their management. Its not like they’ll get better results anywhere else.

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

The sales argument doesnt make sense tho.
        Its got 600k in sales

    • Lil J Moore

      It is

Too me ZombiU is the best Survival Horror game I’ve played since Resident Evil Remake and 0.

Sure it had a few problems but overall it’s a great game that Ubisoft should give another go.

      • Magnus Eriksson

Agree, it is very good. The only sad thing is that they didnt turn up the graphics a bit mote. Not for me, but for others. I think that if it had better improved graphics the situation could be very different for Wii U today.

        • Adecentboy777

I felt the same! The graphics was a bit outdated.

          • Magnus Eriksson

At least they could have worked a bit more on the Zombies. The surroundings were kind of ok, but the Zombies didnt look to good (they didnt excactly scream new generation). But personally I dont care to much over those kind of things, but I know many does. Especially those people who is main target for that type of games.

          • Adecentboy777

The same here! Wii U is actually a better system than PS3/XBOX360. It has more power BUT I didn’t see that in that game. The idea was good, but the implementation was terrible. Ubisoft didn’t want or couldn’t improve and polish the graphics because they were under time pressure. So why do they complain now? It’s their fault.

    • BIG Franky

um…. they aren’t even remotely comparable in style and gameplay…. just because they both have zombies doesn’t mean they are similar games….

      • RyuNoHadouken

        preach brother

      • Trirulian

Yeah true, sorry. It was just kind of my first impression. They clearly are different and are good in their own merit. Well i haven’t played the other, but that doesn’t give me the right to compare them

    • nexxus6

ZombiU is an amazing game. I loved every bit of the game. Too many people must have thought it was going to be a straight up shooter. I have no idea why people hate on ZombiU.

  • Wren Justin Umlauf

After wasting my money on Sniper Elite V2, (fun game but laking content for $60 price tag) Im very skeptical about buying from 505 Games.

    • Marius Valasinas

well you’ve overpaid. I got mine for $30 and I love it. Game is very good

      • Wren Justin Umlauf

But when the same game is being sold on ps3 with all the DLC and multiplayer for $30, don’t you feel a little ripped off?

        • BIG Franky

it all depends on the facts, circumstances…and ultimately the user. people get so hung-up on “missing features” at the end of the day, many users could care less about multi-player…. like for CoD or Batman…. the vast majority of players get those games for the single-player campaign… myself for example…. I work 60 hours a week and have kids… the amount of time I can put into gaming now-a-days is minimal so I don’t even worry about missing out on some stuff like that. but that’s just me.

          • Rinslowe

            I totally agree with you.

But I can also understand the “human nature” effect of seeing something with more next door, while costing even less (in many cases). And how that assists in a negative perception. We all wish we could just be happy with what we have, but in practice it’s understandable people can see it as though they aren’t receiving an equal measure of value…

Personally either way we look at it, I think despite the platform, install base etc… Devs need to at least think about this effect on the consumer because it likely happens before we build that value by playing the game…
I think Criterion nailed it TBH; “go all in or not at all”…
We know the Wii U is fully capable of going 1 – 1 on any features in the other builds and it hurts that much more when for economic or corporate reasons those features are consciously omitted.

Again I totally agree, for a game like Batman I’m 99% invested in the awesome that is the single player campaign.
Games like COD for example, other FPS or any game that has a proven multiplayer aspect to it, I would need to really think about other options…

        • Merrfn

          Try steam for $7…

  • Baum 「ツリー」

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with a survival Zombie game imho…

It looks kinda like Diablo+post apocalyptic setting+tons of Zombies – wich are all for themselves pretty cool.
I don’t say it looks horrible (I really like games like Diablo, Torchlight and Path of Exile and movies/games with those dark/apocalyptic visions for the future ^^), but it’s not really something I see myself enjoying for too long. Maybe it’s just the trailer, but this looks way too over the top for what it wants to be.

  • Entropyguy

…Maybe? Looks like it could be a fun little action game. It depends on price versus content.

  • Looks fun!

  • Looks repetitive and stale.

Add the fact that it is another 505 Games game missing features, and it’s safe to say that I won’t be playing this title.

    • Magnus Eriksson

I showed the video to my 5 year old daughter, she loved it. She will get this under the christmas tree this year 🙂

      • Suraj Alexander

WTF!! What kind of sick father are you?;)

        • Magnus Eriksson

Was a joke. My daughter isnt five… shes three:)

          • Lol

          • val berger

Thanks Magnus, we couldn’t decide what to buy for our 1yr old daughter …… UNTIL NOW!

          • Suraj Alexander

I know it was a joke, thus the winking smiley face at the end

    • Saikyo

yeah, shouts bargain e shop sale

  • Ace J

wait a sec….isnt this game just like sniper elite 2??? with the wii u version missing features that the other versions have?

  • Lil J Moore

I just played the demo on the 360 and I’m not liking this game already. I’ll buy the WiiU version to support it and past my judgement on it later on gameinformer.

    • discuss

You do not like the game yet you will buy it on the Wii U? That doesn’t make sense.

      • Lil J Moore

A full version game is far different from a demo. There are many games that I’ve played where I hated the demo but liked the game and where I liked the demo but didn’t like the full-version. I never judge a game until I play the full game.

        • discuss

So what games demo did you hate only to love the full game? I find that hard to believe …

          • Merrfn

As a recent example (for me at least) I disliked the Wonderful 101, but enjoyed the full version.

          • Lil J Moore

Tales of Vesperia, dead rising, Nier, Marvel UA, Medevil(PS1) spyro the dragon,The Cave, Limbo, Dead space, Left for dead 1 and 2, sonic unleash, Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 (13 being a on and off thing) Wonderful 101, ( this was for different reasons I can’t explain) etc etc.

Those are some. I have a lot more if you want to hear them.

          • discuss

Whats so different about the demo’s then?

          • Lil J Moore

Demo’s only give you a taste of what your getting into.

Demo don’t tell the full story.

Demo’s don’t reveal the full gameplay.

Demo’s don’t let me listen to the music tracks.

Demo’s don’t show the bugs and glitches (most don’t).

So in other words demos don’t tell the full story of a game the full and final version does and I refuse to judge something until I really tried it otherwise my word means nothing.

  • MetroidZero

Maybe better than The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct…idk

    • Lil J Moore

Anything is better then that game

  • nandoikari

No online mode on Wii U, lazy team who developed this port. Big NO for it.

  • BIG Franky

guys… to all of the people whining about “missing features” … stop. just STOP. when people actually start buying Wii U’s and then those people start buying 3rd party games… maybe it will make sense for companies to release stuff for the platform. stop acting like you are entitled….. game companies don’t owe anyone anything…. just because they release a game for one platform doesn’t mean they are slighting another for not releasing it on a different platform. these companies exist to make money…they follow the money. there is nothing wrong with that. if there are 8,000 PS3’s to every 1 Wii U then it might not make sense for a company to invest time, resources, and MONEY into a multi-player component on the platform that doesn’t have a ton of consoles out there… please think about it.

    • juancamiloarq

      Sadly true.

    • juancamiloarq

The thing is that it would be better if they didn’t even release the game if it is going to be missing certain “mainstream” features, on a certain platform. Cause when it comes to sales, people are just driven by a cost/benefit relation, no matter what. And then, these companies come blaming the platform they published on.

I absolutely agree with your thoughts, but don’t you think it’s a bit dumb on their part to expect the best of these ripped off games? Certainly, Nintendo is to blame for what has become of the Wii U to this day, but it isn’t for how third parties position their own products. Don’t you think?

    • Rinslowe

Wow, BIG Franky… That was pretty straight up man!
Consumers are not entitled to the extra features that is true. BUT, people should really stop and consider their options at least before spending a premium on something which can be bought with less for more somewhere else.
And if people have only one system to choose from then… better to wait for that product to lower to a non-premium price and then both parties the consumer and the studio/ publisher wins in their own way.
I personally refuse to accept it costs that much more to put the same amount of effort into a port if expecting the same original sales price as other platforms.
What the studios/ publishers are actually doing is making a corporate decision to omit features due to perceived losses/ low revenue from lack of install base etc… It’s equally a perception thing from their end as well, surely?

  • Ducked

    This better be like $15

  • RyuNoHadouken

looks like the sequel to State of Decay

  • leo

for the missing features part… yeah i know it sucks but then if we had the features then we would be B******g that no one would be online

    • Merrfn

I would prefer little people online then no people online.

  • fireheartis1

LOL Yah shutting a dear with a machine gun is going to really help someone survive. Not!!!

If the Wii U version is missing features, i’ll probably consider buying it from steam.

  • Merrfn

Gameplay doesn’t look very appealing to me.

  • SleepySkullhead

Looks like a good time killer, but did I hear sound bites from Terraria?

  • matson delancy

this is a musy buy for me on WiiU

  • Archiq09

it’s will have multiplayer finally or no for wii u?

  • Justagamer

I want this game….I need this game…Only on Wii U

  • Iván Enrique Garcerant Tafur

A very good looking arcade style game, if it were for Dreamcast 🙂 On Wii U is only a minor piece of junk.

  • Einar

Why doesn’t anyone make a game like this with regular monsters anymore? Seems like everyone is doing Zombies lately…

  • Ehmmm.

  • Douwe de vries

    Yet another zombie game……. i’ll pass…

  • blindtiger

looks mildly entertaining… will buy for cheap

  • Petri

After DayZ and Telltales Walking Dead, there hasnt really been any that good zombie game.
I hope standalone of DayZ will keep up the atmosphere.

  • mch

Hope it’s good, but ZombiU is hard to beat!
