Prismatic Games has announced they are developing a brand new title called Hex Heroes, exclusive to the Wii U. The game is a multiplayer real-time strategy game designed for up to four players that involves collecting resources, building defensive structures, conquering enemies, and exploring territories. One player uses the GamePad in order to manage the resources and teammates, while others execute orders. There are eight classes to choose from and at character creation, each player will be able to choose two classes for their character. Combos like rogue/archer and knight/woodcutter make interesting on the fly decisions. Check out the trailer for the game above, which is the Kickstarter trailer. The Kickstarter will be launching on March 25. local_offer hex heroes Nintendo prismatic games wii u wii u eshop stars Further Reading Nintendo loses patent appeal, ordered to pay Nintendo was brainstorming about Switch when Rich Garriques BRING ALL RTS GAMES TO WII U. David Trail And MMORPGS metalpants Make ’em rain, indies. Gonna be such a good year x)! David Trail I love indies. Indies and Mario Kart 8 = very good year indeed! metalpants For sure. Indies are the future of gaming IMO… what with major 3rd party pubs/devs closing up shop left and right. This and next year are already looking packed with good stuff. David Trail With DKC TF, Shovel Knight, Pure Chess, Mario Kart 8, Wii U is looking good for me. For example MGS Ground Zeroes is coming out and it is £30 for a demo. Indies rule! metalpants Whaaaaaat?! That’s my first time hearing that :o… And heck yeah, and that’s just Spring! Then comes X, Bayonetta 2, Hyper Light Drifter, Smash, Project CARS, and so forth. My poor wallet… Wighead The Wii U is a console made for RTS. I Wonder why there is next to none… darkcreap Exactly. The touch screen is so fit to replicate a mouse-oriented interface, like that of Real Time Strategy games on a PC. I mean, it is something that a classic controller (two joysticks, 4 face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons) simply cannot replicate half so well as a touch screen. linkzero65 Cough”pikmin”Cough Fred But Pikmin isn’t exactly the type of RTS he was talking about. Wighead That’s why I said next to none and as a RTS lover I do have Pikmin 3 on Wii U. On the other hand, I’d love more classic RTS like Starcraft or C&C. It would work perfectly with the gamepad, at least a lot more than on a classic controller. David Trail Developers are stupid? val berger not necessarily. devs are, like many companies in this sad capitalistic world, kinda money driven and noone really expects a strategy game on a home console to be kinda successful. So the smaller the dev is, the bigger their cut if they manage to fill such a niche. Still it’s sad that it took so long and isn’t pushed more as the WiiU could really work for example for Boardgames. I played Stuff like Carcassonne on the iPad a lot and it’s really fun and would totally fit to Nintendo’s Offline-Multiplayer appeal. Donaald Probably it has to do with the popularity of the genre and publishers not wanting to take the risk. Gabe Hoffman Grant Kirkhope is composing. I can hear his style in the trailer darkcreap Yes, great!!! I have always said that point-and-click Real Time Strategy (RTS) games are well suited to the WiiU. Some RTS PC games could fit well on it. Lil J Moore Still waiting on Nintendo to announce something good. David Trail Mario Kart 8, SSB U, Bayonetta 2, Monoliftsofts X, Sonic Boom, Shin Migami V Fire Emblem to name a few. linkzero65 and i’m still waiting for that SMT X FE like seriously where is it? hope they show it at E3 this year with zelda u too David Trail That would be awesome! Zorpix That icon actually really intrigued me. Looking forward to see how this turns out FIreproof_actual Geez…all we ever get is crappy indie titles..where’s Metroid and Zelda…and a true 3D Mario game… David Trail Indies are better than most main games these days. Ground Zeroes is a load of rubbish. linkzero65 quote”HAW DAR U GRAWND 0OZ IS BTTR THN WII CARP U” quote “FAK YOU BASTARD U NO KNOW A REAL GAME LIKE COD AND MGZ ” wow i should defenetly do this for a living! :p David Trail MGS Ground Zeroes is way better than Mario. 75% on meta critic and only 2 hourz long! matthew garcia I think u forget that alot of games that cost 60 bucks in the 9 0’s like teenage mutant ninja turtles u can get through in 45 minutes. David Trail Ground Zeroes is 75% matthew garcia I don’t care about metacritic scores I told u before. The coolest looking indie game I have seen is rime and that’s ps4 exclusive. Has the graphics of wind waker and shadow of the colossus all rolled into one. Looks amazing David Trail MGS Ground Zeroes another mediocre multiplat on ps4 : ) matthew garcia Lol like I said I have all 3 current gen games. I’m enjoying metal gear solid at this very moment on ps4. I been playing titanfall for 3 days straight before this on xbox1 and was playing ray man on wii u before that David Trail Do you have DKC TF or SM3DW? matthew garcia Yes I do there great games to. Got infamous pre ordered can’t wait. Probably won’t get another wii u game til may when mario kart comes out. Pretty long time between game releases on wii u David Trail Check out the indie titles, virtual console and it plays Wii games to. Shovel Knight looks really good. matthew garcia Yeah ill check it out. Be good to pass a little time David Trail If you need any tips on Wii U games ask me. I have played a lot. Zombi U is awesome! linkzero65 XD David Trail SM3DW Wighead It’s a really good game, but not a full scale 3d Mario game. David Trail Game looks interesting. Miguel Angel Barrueta Hernánde this looks great! a fantastic idea! the wiiu need more 5 player games! David Trail Amen, hopefully they can expand on the idea and make some more serious titles like this as well. Imagine a Zelda RTS? David Trail Nintendo should make Battalion Wars 3 for Wii U. FutureFox Well….its a good start. I’ve been espousing a RTS since launch. Better to ease people into an idea with a fairly simple game like this. wiimenonowiiu Ohhhyeaaaa im getting this game forsure Ducked When will Nintendo announce their big game for the Wii U? That’s what I want to know. Diaz They’ve announced a lot of “big” games for the Wii U. Are you talking about the new IP? Ducked Yeah that. Fred X might be a new IP we don’t know enough about it yet Diaz As much I love Nintendo I’ve learned not to get too hyped up about things. The new IP could always end up some new party game or something David Trail Sonic Boom? Louie “Official Nintendo Magazine has teased that their April issue will feature a new, unannounced Wii U game, and, in pre-empting speculation running into overdrive, specifies that it is neither a new F-Zero or Star Fox title from the House of Mario.” -Nintendo Insider http://www.nintendo-insider.com/2014/02/08/official-nintendo-magazine-tease-new-wii-u-game-april-issue/ uPadWatcher “… which is the…” what, Ashley? David Trail Imagine using the touch screen to control your army and seeing them move on the top screen. Why are most developers so unimaginative? uPadWatcher Very good question. Electronic Arts are just one of the many developers today are not taking advantages of both the Wii U hardware and the Game Pad. David Trail Why though? A football managing game would be really good on Wii U. A touch screen beats using a menu. Plus seeing the action on the bottom screen whilw watching the play on the top screen would be magnificent. Damn EA and their laziness! cusman I couldn’t find the game on Kickstarter. Hopefully something reminds me to look again on the 25th. Fred Yes it would be nice if there was another article on the 25th. This could be the first kickstarter I help fund Fred This will be nice next to my other Wii U strategy game: CastleStorm. I’m looking forward to the kickstarter kickoff. Hopefully their funds goal isn’t too big Mario Garth I love Castlestorm. Fred Have you tried either DLC pack? MerryBlind . I love CastleStorm too. The Wii U features are awesome. Fred I love that when my wife and I play 2-player we each get our own screen. (TV for one gamepad for the other) MerryBlind . I know right??? Nintendo should push that feature more! I’m still hoping we’ll get that in MarioKart 8, so that we can play 5 players locally! Fred If they don’t do it on Mario Kart 8 then I’ll be very disappointed. Sonic Racing has that feature and it came out a long time ago. If they want Mario Kart 8 to be better it NEEDS to include that MerryBlind . I haven’t played Sonic Racing, but I knew it had the feature. Nintendo have no excuses to not make this happen. Hell I’d say make MK8 the first game to use more than one GamePad, and allow for 6 players local multiplayer. Fred I love your way of thinking. If they announce that Mario Kart 8 is the first to use 2 Gamepads and you can do 3 players without split screen and 6 player with split screen and 6 v 6 online with 2 consoles…I’m buying a second Gamepad and downloading Mario Kart 8!!! Done. Unfortunately, I think at this point if they were going to do that it would have been announced already, but perhaps I’m wrong. MerryBlind . I know!! It would be so awesome!!! Since Mario Kart is one of those titles that every body will talk about, the clever use of the GamePad would have spread and more people would have bought both a Wii U and MK8! Now it’s ‘just’ going to sell ‘well’ ‘just because’ it’s Mario Kart. The GamePad stuff would have sold people on the console itself, not just Mario Kart. They could even sell a bundle with Mario Kart 8 and a red GamePad for 125$ or something, you know like they sell a Wiimote bundled with certain games, not sure how much the GamePad alone is worth. Fred Are you saying a bundle with 2 Gamepads and Mario Kart 8? That would be REALLY COOL! MerryBlind . No that would be too expensive. I meant Mario Kart 8 + Red GamePad Bundle, nothing else. Since the sole reason of purchasing a 2nd GamePad would be for Mario Kart for now. Fred What if they had 2 Gamepads and 1 v 1 local multiplayer where nobody could screen cheat and peek at where the other guy is? That would be worth the second Gamepad. Wighead Castlestorm is the perfect grab and play indie game and its cheaper than a lot of games out there. Fred It is a really fun game. I’m glad we got the DLC. I already bought the first pack and I’m sure I’ll end up buying the second pack. val berger This is actually what I’ve been asking for since about Jan 2013 when people started questioning the way Nintendo is not doing proper marketing for their system. Why wasn’t there something like this available at launch? Nowadays it might not really shine out, but back then it would have been a perfect example of what this system is actually capable of and why it really differs from its competition. Sylux Kinda looks like Catan… Could be fun if you like Catan, personally I actually don’t like Settlers of Catan much so this game won’t be for me, although it’s a Wii U exclusive I might back it anyway. Rinslowe Groovy steveb944 This looks pretty intriguing. Keep us updated with a link for when it starts up next week MysteryT This actually looked pretty fun! 😀 MujuraNoKamen This game has music by Grant Kirkhope! Me gusta. Adam Howell Assuming there’s online play I’d buy it. David Horowitz It’ll probably be another game that uses only 10gb out of 25gb on the disk.
