Fatal Frame for Wii U is currently in development at Koei Tecmo for the Nintendo Wii U. The full subtitle for this game is Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden. It’s debut was pretty big in Japan, as streaming site NicoNico had two different presentations dedicated to showcasing what the game will look like.

Currently there is no information if this game will be translated and brought to the West like the first game, but given the amount of support we’ve seen from Western gamers and the Wii U’s need of good exclusives, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it released in the West. The Japanese release for the game is September 27.

    Please bring to the states.

    • Arkamarky

      And Canada

      • I believe by “States” he meant North America. If the USA gets it that includes Canada and Mexico since all 3 are North America.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Well “States” is just short for United States, but yes, Canada and Mexico almost always are part of the equation going by region.

          • Rinslowe

Would be silly not to. Going by combined population…

        • Adrian Brown

and America, so I can play it here in Costa Rica

        • The Wolf 47

Just say NA for North America and EU for Europe.

      • nin-10-doughfan

        and the philippines!

      • Rinslowe

        And everywhere else, cheers.

      • kachan64

Ok guys, request granted. Please take a look…

      • Παναγιώτης

        And Europe!!

  • matthew garcia

That’s a awesome cover, hopefully the game itself can match it’s quality

    • Daniel Gonzalez

I think the bigger hope is if it will leave Japan. 😛

      • matthew garcia

Yeah that would need to happen first

  • MonadoKnight

Western release please nintendo . You would be nuts not too since this is a game that could use the gamepad brilliantly and it would be a great filler for inbetween your major releases. Seriously i want this more than zelda and smash

    • Rickem

I want this more than any announced game in the industry. The Binding of Isaac:Rebirth is a somewhat close second. But fo’ real, this is one of my favorite franchises. C’mon Nintendo! What shinto ritual sacrifice do I need to perform to get this to come out already?

  • Looking sexy.

  • Will.F. Martinez

I want this. Mainly because resident evil lost its way when it comes to mystery horror feel to it and became basically a shooter. This looks like it’ll have a good mystery feel to it and a story.

    • Dimitri Theodosakis

Fatal Frame 4&Fatal Frame Wii U is 100% Better then Resident Evil 4&5&6&Revelations Combine

  • HavokPants

when i saw the debut AND THE HYPE i thought now you don’t give a shit about graphics

  • Leo Lima

    Black box :O

  • simkenno

On behalf of the EU. Please come to us.

  • MujuraNoKamen

    Please come west!

And aren’t we due a Nintendo Direct soon???

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      I would say so.

    • Mr Ninty

prediction: 23 september direct because it will be the 125th birthday of nintendo. be aware of the oncoming year of nintendo

  • Ducked

    Bland box art

  • Dodge Pribyl

I like it. The dark blue Wii U Logo, on the black box is just wonderful.

    • 00EpicGamer00

The dark blue Wii U Logo should have been the default for all Wii U games. It just looks so much better.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

The light blue makes the boxes look(and dare I say it) toy like. So a change of dark blue would be something I’d support.

        • keithmaxx

Toy-like, which is perfect for much of Nintendo’s demographic.

        • 00EpicGamer00

Agreed. Not only do I hate that particular shade of blue, but it does look a little too….just like you said “toy like.” So much for Nintendo going toward the “hardcore” crowd.

    • StarLightBenG

It would be nice if they use the (Black Box Style w/ the Dark Blue Wii U color) for Mature Games in US/CAN, So the games are noticable and appealing from far away

      • LordiMcKill

That’s pretty much how it goes in Japan if there game is rated at the equivalent of an 18.

  • Gizmo

Damn, that’s some badass box art! It Looks like something from Silent Hill.

  • 69 ing girls on the cover, sexy box art…… I’ll buy

  • Petri

    The western release Nintendo.

  • Dimitri Theodosakis

On behalf of the Europe North America South America Oceania Africa
    Please come to us.

  • Leonel

If this comes to the U.S. it’s a buy from me since its a good horror game and the gamepad is being used in a great way.

  • Matt

I’m sure that there are suvival horror fans all over the world that would like to purchase Fatal Frame V (Project Zero V). Please Nintendo help support all gamer on Wii U and release it world wide.

  • Rinslowe

It would be a “Fatal” mistake to not release this game everywhere.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s been a game that some would consider a niche, but I would like to think that a lot of it’s moderate sales are more due to lack of marketing outside Japan. Hard to say how Nintendo will market it if they decide on a worldwide release, but I don’t believe it would be a huge loss to them if sales aren’t what they expect. I see it as more of a low risk, high reward. It was bad enough they left the rest of the world out on IV.

      • Rinslowe

I don’t think anyone should expect this game to sell truck loads. I think that would be placing an unfair expectation on the title. Just having it available and marketed adequately and I believe they’d see acceptable results. Low risk high reward is a good way to put it. Eventually as time goes on, certain western Wii U owners and multiplatform owners may decide to pick it up anyway, being exclusive and assuming the game is a worthwhile experience.
And yeah, if Ninty doesn’t try first in pushing for more titles “like” Fatal Frame to release in as many markets as possible. Then true variety on Wii U will continue to be a thing. Fingers crossed. It could fill a gap in any case…

      • Fierce-Deity Link

Honestly, i think the game could do decently should nintendo play their cards right. Who knows, maybe it will get a cult following like xenoblade chronicles did. In my opinion nintendo should bring it to the states regardless that way the wii u has more dark games and it isn’t seen as only a kiddie console.

        • Stuart O’Quin

That’s a big factor in this. Regardless of sales, adding exclusives like “Fatal Frame” to “Bayonetta 2” and “Hyrule Warriors” will do a lot to shift consumer impressions of the Wii U. “Lego City” was great, and sold pretty well, but did nothing to make the Wii U wall at our local game stores look any more balanced. If Tecmo doesn’t want to take the financial risk, Nintendo should publish/promote it stateside.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

Exactly. Just having some dark ish makes the console looks less kiddie to average consumer. Plus, it also makes heads turn from the sony and microsoft fan base, ala bayonetta 2. I will be very disappointed if it doesn’t come state side. Also, I feel like bringing games like that can cause a cult following like xenoblade had. I guess only time will tell

  • Kevin

Black case!!!!?? Why is this not announced for North America!!!!

  • Rickem

NEED! I NEED it more than Spongebob needs water!

  • This sirs, will be good for wii u sales in Japan

  • Spale Max

Will it be possible to play this game with Japanese audio and English subtitles ( I have no problem with it, I watch anime always subbed)? I am new into Nintendo world, and I dont know are these combinations (audio+subtitles) possible.

    • 00EpicGamer00

“I am new into Nintendo world, and I dont know are these combinations (audio+subtitles) possible.”

Well, the problem with that is most Nintendo games don’t have any audio dolouge. Most of their games are text based. But the few Nintendo games that do have audio dialogue, yes you can have audio and subtitles on at the same time. Though, I’m not sure if you can change the subtitles into whatever language you want. I think once you set the language you want for the game the subtitles will match that. Most games that have subtitles in the options menu, will just have an on or off option.

  • jhell

    US version please

  • Justin Gray

    pretty classy artwork

  • Stuart O’Quin

NA needs this sort of game in its line-up. Nintendo would be fools to let this pass by. They have a good working relationship with Tecmo right now. Let’s keep that rolling!

  • kentray1985

How Nintendo gone gives this game to japan first when its Americans who have asked for it and waited patiently. This game should be brought to the US also. I really do wish Iwata would just resign so we can have a president that does things for the players and not just seeming like a bunch of his ego

  • Solidus

Dont forget EU Nintendo !!! Im not asking….

  • james

Really hope this comes to the US!

  • Stuart O’Quin

Very nice! Classically balanced 69 layout, sexy black case, and stylish logo… I hope we get something similar in the U.S. (if we, indeed, get the game).

  • thedeciderU

i need to play this game. now, if the console wasn’t region locked, i’d buy it the day it releases in japan… ugh
