Earlier this year we put together a list of the top five games we’d like to see available on Wii U. On that list was Watch Dogs–and if a new listing from both GameStop and Best Buy is any indication–we’ll be seeing it soon. Ubisoft recently stated that the game was coming to all home consoles, which would include the Wii U.

Now that both GameStop and Best Buy have listed the game as available for pre-order, it’s seeming highly likely that we’ll see this sci-fi hacker action game available for the Wii U. We’re excited about the possibilities of using the Wii U GamePad for the game. If you’re still unfamiliar with Watch Dogs, check out this trailer below and let us know what you think.

Hadn’t seen this one before, but the trailer is pretty sweet. Will definitely pick this up if it’s coming to the Wii U. After viewing a couple trailers it has a very “System Shock” sort of vibe, which really makes me almost pee my pants thinking about it.

    • It feels like a mixture of System Shock and Deus Ex to me. I really dig it.

      • AZJ

Wow!  I didn’t expect that.  I never played System Shock but the first Deus Ex is one of my favorite games.  Would you be able to say if it is more similar to Deus Ex or Deus Ex 2?  I like them both, but I think Deus Ex did the whole experience/ammo/health thing better than the 2nd one.

I hope this comes to the Wii U, I don’t have the other systems because the cost/space of additional consoles and I would prefer to use that money and space for more games.

  • I’ll be getting it for sure ^^

  • Lev M

  • I am sure that all Wii U owners will pass right?  It’s Ubisoft and you need to see how it plays since it’s gameplay over grpahics!

      Steer clear.

    • uPadWatcher

      Donny… GIVE IT UP!!!!!

    • Donaald *Meg* why do you always talk trash about Nintendo and wii u? if you dont like the system you dont have to bother to write on this site! go play ps or xbox and shut the fuck up already! fucking asshole.

      • sexigarro collective

donaald was rape by a plumber in his childhood, im sure of that.

      • NkoSekirei

because donald is an idiot who loves fariy princess dolls and dress up as ballerina with a nice pink tutu

      • Zelly Jeffers

Why do you reply to any of his posts? It’s like feeding a stray cat. You only encourage it to stay.

You do know the Wii U has a STRONGER GPU than the Xbox 360’s right?

      • Genesect4ssb4

and is the only console with a GPGPU which is does everything that the CPU can, plus more. CPu is outdated, GPGPU is the new thing.

        •  Exactly..  Same concept as AMD’s APU Processors where it uses both the GPU and CPU simultaneously and more efficiently..   Intel does something similar with their iSeries processors too.   This is the new computing and you can get more graphics power out of a system with a CPU with a lower clock cycle.

I wouldn’t expect trolls like Donaald to get that because he has no experience in computer hardware and how it actually functions.

          •  If those chips are what you think they are, then how come they are the optional budget chips and not the top of the line ones?

          • Core i7 is budget?   Intel Graphics are now part of the CPU die too with the higher the iSeries the more powerful the integrated GPU since they both work together.   They are budget because that is what AMD makes and prices them for.  Intel does it for the same reason.  They can be made into high performing APUs but that comes at a price and for the PC market that is not something most people would want as most like to upgrade the CPU and GPU separately.

It all comes down to cost.   I hope I don’t confuse you with such simple concepts.

Oh and I bet you will be surprised when both the NextBox and PS4 do the same thing with a GPGPU in their next consoles. Of course then they will not be budget they will be innovative.

          • OK, i’ll give you the Core i7, although they just started adding graphics to those chips. Those graphics are no match for a dedicated card and no CPU could accompany such a GPU unless the motherboards rose greatly in price which would mean that we would have to upgrade more often than not.

The next consoles they say will have 8-cores.  Yeah, they say 2ghz or less, but it’s still 8.  We will see what the final specs are.  If they lowered the power on the CPU, it was to lower power consumption only, which would explain why they went with 8 cores to still get power.  Hopefully that went all out on the graphics, which I am sure they did.  With Nintendo, you have to hope that they do right.

          •  What is holding those back is the socket type and the power the GPGPU would need to run the higher graphics otherwise you would see higher power in the graphic capabilities built on the chip,  The AMD APUs offer more graphical power than just about anything intel can dish out and who knows maybe in the future you will see more power.  All that being said if a person wants a gaming rig they want a dedicated card because it offers them choice and more power which is true but in the grand scheme of things the GPGPU model is more efficient than having a separate CPU and GPU of similar power to what the GPGPU can put out combined using less wattage.

In the small form factor of a console this model is preferred because they can design the two to work together and make the software to take advantage of the design.  They only have to worry about the software written specifically for it compared to the PC world having to try and account for nearly an unlimited number of hardware configurations and endless software titles some of which are poorly written.  This is why you see varying performance in the PC world because it does not have to go through the testing phase and approval that is used in a closed console model.

PC will always win but that comes at a price where a mid-to high end CPU can cost $200 – $600+ and a mid to high end GPU can cost another $200 -$600+

        •  Oh boy. I have already explained to you that this is not special and it is not new…

      • NkoSekirei

hes doesnt know wii u runs on 2011 specs making more powerful then current gen consoles but it seems he cant read well due to low i q

        •  Graphics effects are better, but that does not make the GPU necessarily more powerful just because it is news and Direct X 11.  Even the 360 does some tessellation.

      •  Yes I do and I have already acknowledged and addressed that elsewhere in addition to the fact the the Wii U is to compete with the PS4/Xbox 720, not the current systems.

    • Rick van der Linde

You don’t like Nintendo and yet you have these stats:
Wii U Daily – 456 Comments. It’s just… I feel sorry for you. You must have absolutely no life whatsoever.

      •  He is here just to troll so we all need to do our best to ignore his ignorance and just move on.  No matter what Nintendo does he will make a trollish comment on it.  They talk about Rated T and M games coming out but unless it is GTA V they are all baby games.   Heck even if GTA V does eventually come out for the Wii U he will find a reason to trash it because his mommy wouldn’t buy him a SNES when he was a kid because he is a snotty ungrateful person.   In fact I think he is really only about 12 – 17 now based on his ignorant commentary.  Not that all people of that age are like that but it is usually the age range of people that think they know it all when they know nothing and can only comment by bashing and trashing..  Basically cannot give any sort of constructive commentary or criticism because they are stupid.

        • Rick van der Linde

If the game isn’t kiddy he states that all Nintendo owners are kiddy and vice versa, but yeah, him being 12 would clear it up. I bet he also smokes just to look “cool”.

      • If you really feel sorry for me, send me some money!

    • Super Buu

Back in my days, trolls made people butthurt, not the contrary.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Is there a real reason to cause an argument, Donaald? Cause let’s be honest, you’re starting it this time. Let it go.

      •  I can make the point that they wanted to hate when Rayman was postponed, now they are all-in with Ubisoft again, and you know it’s because of the graphics because there is no hint of gameplay there.  People like GTA because of the gameplay and it is endless fun.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Fair enough I suppose. You do know as human beings we have the right to change our minds on how we view things in life, right? So it’s not wrong for them to be upset and then okay with some of the offerings. GTA is fun, but not everyone will consider it fun either. Some have a different idea of fun, and we shouldn’t be criticising them over their views.

I’m with you on GTA is endless fun, but it can get stale over time, which is why I stop playing it after I burn myself out from it. GTA IV I didn’t like too much like I loved San Andreas and Vice City, mostly cause I couldn’t stand the protagonist in that game(Niko). GTA V I’ll probably end up getting to give it another go and hope this one blows my mind.

          •  It’s good that you are slightly back tracking in order to allow room for excuses about Watch Dogs.  Lol.  I did not like Niko much either, but then again I did not care about him or any of the leads in GTA, it is the game that I like.  I largely ignore the leads.  I love GTA 4 because of the online play and the environment.  The detail and interaction is unbelievable.  If you have never been to NYC, that game gives you the essence having been there down to the last detail.  Seeing the credits, you know they put so much into the game it looked as if they had more people working on it than a movie!  Too bad it was not in 1080P.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

What excuses would I make for Watch Dogs? Lol. If it comes to Wii U, good and if not, then oh well. No skin off my back as I still own a ps3, 360 and pc. It’d be a shame that it doesn’t, none of us can tell the developers to port it. Most likely will get it for ps3 if I end up getting it but I’m not sold on it yet either. I’m the type that treads softly with new ips.

    • MetroidZero

Donaald, you should get a Wii U! You can thank me later.

      •  His mommy won’t buy him one and Santa stiffed him because he is a brat.

      •  If someone gave me one, I might use it. Then again, there are hardly any games to play so there is not much that I could do with it.

        • MetroidZero

There are lots of games to play, but none that are a must-have (imo). I’m still waiting for Mario Kart U and SSBU. But in the meantime, I enjoy playing a few games, like Trine 2 and Tekken. Again, you should get one, for I promise you, you will enjoy it now and especially later.

  • Edward Rhoderick

.It’ll probably be awesome for the WII U if they were smart with the Gamepad.

  • Johny

thats a REALLY good news…. not only for the lovers of the game, but for the wii u’s future:) such support of such high budget games coming to wii u is good news nontheless ^^

  • Nintendofreak

      *they *the *they* *the

  • SoulSilverZero

    Watch Dogs definitely looks interesting.

First there are Sleeping Dogs, now there are Watch dogs.

    • Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit. It was very nice to run through the streets of Hong Kong. Very well made game.

  • Stephen

I already knew it was coming to Wii U, but of course nothing is official until official announcements. I will be getting it for PC probably, but if I can I’ll double-dip and grab it for Wii U as well.

  • It will look great on ps4, 720 and pc…. and it won’t look horrible on wii u if the developers actually try.

  • AAAkabob

Ubisoft makes good use for the gamepad in ZombiU and on Rayman, look forward how they integrate it on this game.

  • This is big. Hopefully GTA 5 right on its heels.

I am totally getting this game for sure on the WiiU…#BAD-ASS!!!!

  • fireheartis1

That looked way better than anything Grand Theft Auto can offer up.  I know many morons will hate on me because I said this, but GTA is getting old and I’m kindof happy it’s not coming to the Wii U.  However, this game looks amazing and I think it’s going to rock on the Wii U.  Heck if Ubisoft does it right it will out sale GTA by leaps and bounds.  I will buy it if it rocks as hard as it looks like it will.

  • Anthony K Aurelia

I will def be picking this one up as well. Anyone know where I can get his phone?

  • Zelly Jeffers

Looks pretty neat. I never trust pre-order information, but if it does come to Wii U I’d snag it for sure.

  • MetroidZero

Kinda reminds me of Hitman Absolution.

  • Srpg2ishere

GameStop I swear to GOD if I find out you are lying… Something like this will make me flip out If this actually MAKES it to Wii U. I know that ever since the rayman thing I’ve been critical of Ubisoft but if this comes then I am 100% back into the games! 😀

  • Dominic Coradazzi

    Aw HELL YES!!

  • kevin nun—-

    AC3 + GTA = WD

  • disqus_c39xUtm3WM

    im buying this.

  • yenly

that one just need offscreen then I will play for hours while my wife is watching TV

  • InterTreble

This was the best game at last E3. This is a third party title. This will be part of the line-up of next gen consoles. And this will be released on Wii U. So, please tell Patcher to shut up now. EPIC WIN

  • gabriel sanchez

I guess this is our chance to show the developers how much money a 3rd party game could make on the wiiu Everyone Pre Order!

  • Will Watchdogs be for next gen consoles???

  • MasterPpv

This game’s reveal was EASILY the best thing shown at E3 last year, and I was so disappointed that at the time, as far as we knew, it was only going to be for 360 and PS3. I was hoping for at least PC, but if I recall correctly, even that wasn’t official. If this is real, then we have the possibility of a very, VERY exciting Wii U title on our hands.
