Turok Dinosaur Hunter and Turok: Seeds of Evil ~ coming to xbox One

Turok’s first two games come to Xbox One in March

Turok Release on Xbox One | Nightdive Studios

The first two Turok games — Dinosaur Hunter and Seeds of Evil — have gotten re-releases on Windows PC and now Nightdive Studios is ready to bring them to Xbox One.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil arrive on Xbox One on March 2, for $19.99 each. It’s some good news for Nightdive, which a week ago told Kickstarter donors that the $1.35 million effort to remake System Shock had gone “on a hiatus.”

Nightdive has been at work on Turok since 2015. Nightdive’s specialty has been in rescuing and refreshing beloved video game franchises that their original publishers have forsaken. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was a fantastically weird title, pitting the player against prehistoric monsters with weapons ranging from a bow and arrows to a gatling gun.

As you can see, this isn’t a high-definition remaster. But Turok’s wildass premise really wouldn’t work without the 1990s goofiness of low-poly characters, infinite backgrounds, and one-size-fits-all textures. Look, you’ve got dinosaurs that not only breathe fire, they also carry firearms, so it’s not like anyone’s going for immersion here.

This is so good. I am gushing. Easily (imo) the only two good Turok games ever made. Remastered on P{C and now coming to Xbox.

I completely disagree with this statement. When Turok the Dinosaur Hunter came out, it was some of the most advanced graphics I had ever seen. Back then, I thought it was absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed by the water effects, fish AI, fog, anti-aliasing, etc. Whoever knows this is probably some millenial who wasn't even around back then to know what it was like. The point of the game wasn't cheesy low-poly graphics. That wasn't the point at all. We need a truly modernized version of that game, because it was awesome in its day.

Yeah, I had a good laugh at that one. Mario 64 had that feature, too.

I agree. I played the first two on N64, and really the first one was the only one I loved. The 360 game shouldn't even have been called Turok.

Me too. One was like “beware oblivion is at hand” or something like that. It allowed you to play the single payer campaign with friends in co-op, amongst other things.

This is easy now they've added "hbeb" to google translate!

I agree though. There seems to be a lot of love for Turok on the Nintendo side.

I loved these games, seeds of evil was my favorite. shooting down the birds at the start to open a secret door was great.

The N64 games would have made great Wii U virtual console entries - especially if they changed the controls to using a thumb stick to move about.

Yes but Licensing. Nintendo seem to have let a lot of good iconic titles slip away. but who new the world would want all the old stuff.

As Wooden said, we need a full-blown remake of the original games. Turok could be some scary stuff with today's graphics and sound.

It didn't even phase me because on the IGN forums, they call me Wooden. One time someone called me Woody there, and it touched my heart.

It was a very wooden way to say that.

I think you did, but what I'm talking about was someone who wasn't even from this forum. It kind of caught me off guard.
