I'm still stuck in the first one where you have to fight a whole bunch of aliens outside a government building near some water.

A third in this series seemed a given. What the hell Nintendo?! The Conduit 2 had the best control scheme EVER for a shooter.

I believe the studio went out of business Nick. Hardly Nintendo's fault.

Not sure where you got that information but Darth beat me to the "no they haven't" punch!

Another software developer Nintendo should have "adopted"...

Hmm. I stand corrected. There was some survival horror type game they were working on for the WII that never released as I recall. I figured it was because they went out of business. They made a Wii game called Tournament of Legends that started off looking very good and kept getting downgraded due to money concerns I believe. So it seemed like a logical conclusion. I generally liked their games overall, they had some very forward thinking ideas.

Yeah unfortunately they simply pulled another 3rd party move and ditched Nintendo for "greener pastures"!

    .....or so they hoped!

That's too bad. I felt they had a lot of promise. Conduit 1 was kickass, part 2 was sort of a Duke Nukem / Halo wannabe IMO, and Tournament of Legends looked great initially but ultimately was pretty half assed and sloppy. Still, if you can pick it up for cheap ( and you can!) it's not too bad. HVS didn't do shovelware, but you could tell there were some internal problems. It's sort of like the Gearbox/Big Red button situation as I understand it. They promise the moon and simply can't deliver for whatever reasons, and that's too bad.

That's one of the reasons I like Renegade Kid. They make solid games and never overhype. They are straight shooters and put out solid games, even if they aren't ground breaking or AAA or whatever sort of nonsense is the rage these days.

I think the Conduit had a lot of promise that mostly it delivered on. I liked the story, the controls were awesome, they got Kevin Sorbo in there... damn, it was really good. And then it just kinda went off a cliff. And that's too bad.

As I understand it (could be totally wrong) SEGA accepts the contract and subs it out. And SEGA's quality control freaking sucks these days. So I don't see how Nintendo is at fault either. I think Nick was being flippant.

I see. To be fair, this could have been one of those games that would have filled some drought time on Wii U...

I see it as one of those games that make you think "wow, that studio has a lot of promise!" And then... uh, no, not really. Sort of like hearing a one hit wonder band on the radio. But although that song is really good, they all hate each other and someone dies of a drug overdose and then it's just done. Internal crap, you know?

Still, the controls in the Conduit were badass.

I really enjoyed what they did and, if Nintendo had taken them under their wing, I think they could have done great things. They had vision and were willing to try new things (even if it's with an old format). Like has been said, I think they would have nicely filled a gap in the Wii U's software lineup.

I fully agree Nick. I think a lot of promising studios could very well benefit from financial and technical support from Nintendo, and that would benefit Nintendo itself and fans in the long run. I think, from Nintendo's perspective, that their dealings with Rare and others really turned them off. I wasn't there, I don't pretend to know all the details, nothing like that. Maybe Nintendo were giant buttheads. But then other studios they seem to be able to work with just fine. And who knows? Maybe Nintendo is learning to chill. I'm still surprised at the Nintendo character skins in Bayonetta, for one thing.

The problem was the quality of the second game, design wise, was pretty bad. The first Conduit had great control, but also a good story, good voice acting, and a completely buggy online experience. There were a couple parts that were extremely hard, but luckily, you can change the hardness no matter where you are in the game. So it became a bit easier to get past those two slog fests. This was the first battle game I played online and confused as all heck how someone was able to use a automatic rock launcher. That's when I learned about crackers in these types of games.

The second Conduit fixed the online problems for the most part, the graphics for the Wii were really good, the control unbeatable but the voice acting got lazy and the story writing, way too predictable. The game was also a bit too easy. I think the second game sold terribly and that ended Conduit the series.

Really enjoyed playing the two though.

I bought the first game at launch and within a week or so the cheaters were all over it, so much I didn't even bother going online for part 2.

The developers created a gun in Conduit 2 that could shoot through surfaces, which helped in getting people that could find "holes" and hide/snipe behind walls. Someone cracked the rapid fire missile launcher in Conduit 2, but that was covered and fixed very quickly. In general, much harder to cheat online in Conduit 2.

Unfortunately, the ground gained in online play was not seen in the game itself.

Not sure I was alive when this thread was created.

Edit: I'm a moron. I thought I was in the New Posts section, but I was in the Wii section since I just created a thread in that section. So yeah, I thought I was replying to a bumped thread but in reality I was the one bumping a thread. Is that called inception or something?

How in Earth..? I'll chalk it up to you having a lot on your mind lately, not that you are a moron.

The Conduit was a pretty sweet game though, wasn't it? I rarely bother to finish a shooter but the story sucked me in.

I like good stories that don't waste my time. Besides, the ASE was a neat tool, not a floating nag machine. Also, they got Kevin Sorbo. Surprisingly good voice actor.

I was really excited for The Grinder. Then they changed it to a top down action game that was supposed to be multiplat and then it disappeared.
