What if Nintendo purchased Timesplitters rights...

Following Crytek's financial problems they may be willing to sell away a few of their IP's to gain some money.
Lately Nintendo has been spending their money on a few third party exclusive games for the Wii U and maybe Timesplitters could be one of them? (the first game acquired outside of Japan).

What would you say if TS4 would come exclusively to the Wii U?
Would you appreciate it or would you despise it?

The Topic is just meant for fun ^^

I dunno. Good question. I think timesplitters on gamecube was fun. So this could be good. Or it would just die...

    Indeed it was ^^
There's indeed potential for a reboot of the series. But it could easily fade away. I'm happy as long as we get one new TS game.
I personally enjoyed the wacky-ness, the different game modes, the mapmaker, the diversity of characters.

Indeed and the Wii U needs all the games it can get. It certainly lacks in the FPS genre and the sports genre.
    Could proven to be good

Maybe they will, not that Timesplitters really was that "mature" before.
It had a lot of humor

    Edit: Though I assume you're joking =P

Does Crytek own Time Splitters? Might not be a bad idea, but knowing Nintendo they won't do it lol

Yeah they got the title when they acquired Free Radical. And they've been sitting on it ever since.
They have been wanting to work on it for some time now.. or so they say at least.

    And Nintendo can surprise you
But then again it is Nintendo =P

Nintendo is usually pretty predictable with stuff like this... Though I don't know who would have predicted Bayonetta 2 or Devil's Third... Maybe not

Yeah they are. But maybe they are about to start a new trend.
Unlikely but it was just a thought.
It's fun to see them come out and shock us when we think we already know all about them

Nope-- I'd rather they create a new fps IP (and they can create a level creator for it without the TS IP).

Nintendo, if I'm not mistaken, had a chance to buy Free Radical, but they didn't.

I would love to see them buy the ip, and use it, but I'm not sure they will do that.

    Alright, duely noted. Opinion respected.
But I doubt Nintendo would purchase a brand new IP. Timesplitters could in theory be sold fairly cheaply.

    Only time will tell.
But the Free radical situation was back when Nintendo wasn't on a "shopping spree" and not in the same situation as they are now with the Wii U.

I don't see it happening, but I don't see the harm if they did. They can sure use more help.

Time Splitters is one of my all time favorite franchises! So much cheese... I love it! This would make me very happy.

This topic has gotten more positive comments regarding the game than I originally thought it would.
So I guess it's not just me who's craving for Timesplitters action ^^

Wasn't Free Radical also working on Battlefront III at the time of it's purchase as well?

I'd also be up for a new U-exclusive TimeSplitters. I love arcade-like shooters; TS, Perfect Dark, Quake III Arena, and Unreal Tournament are some of my favorites

Well Battlefront III was a part of the problem. I recall that Lucas Arts had not payed for the development for the game for about 6 months (near the end of FR's lifecycle). Lucas Arts then fired people from their company and then told Free Radical to do the same. They wouldn't do that and because of those reasons above they had no money left.
That's what I recall it to be, but it's been a long time now, I could be wrong xD

Hi Monkey. I've never actually played the game, in fact I don't know anything about it at all... I always used to get it confused with "Half Life" for some reason, which I have regrettably also not played.

No one seemingly has or does. No wonder why no one gets me or my references.
But it's not to be confused with Half life, it's a different experience entirely. Although I do believe there were some elements that reminded me of the two.
Not that I've ever played Half Life myself, but I have it in my steam library so clearly I am certied enough to talk about it.

The first one was cool. I remember not enjoying the second one as much.

At least you've played it, that means you're cool like me. If that's a good thing or not, I don't know

I've only played the second one, on the Gamecube. The multiplayer was awesome.

IMO half life is well over rated. It was good at the time on PC but it really is nothing special... I have played both and I can not work out why is gets all the love and has a cult following like it does.

They're nothing special now, but they were groundbreaking when they came out. Both games took then-current tech to the next level. Plus they were a lot of fun at the time.
