    Post Your PC Specs Thread!

Since my other threads aren't taking off, perhaps its better to take a quantity>quality approach. Hence, this thread.

Quite simple really, post your specs and let people marvel! (Pics are welcome too)

8 GB ram, 2nd generation core i7 laptop processor at 2.8 Ghz (when plugged in), GeForce GT 540M with 1GB VRAM, 250 GB Intel SSD. It's a 2012 model. 720p screen because I knew it was a lower end GPU that wouldn't handle 1080p well. I overclock the GPU 25%

    I'm pretty sure I'm running the i5 4670k with a gtx 770

the funny thing is, i went with the i5 because gaming doesn't use any hyperthreading, but then I ended up getting into working a lot with audio/video encoding and compression. the i5 does fine but it was just ironic. BUT i do have a personal server with a xeon E3 that I end up offloading a lot of the work to

Lol. People give me a hard time, and there are people here with better rigs than mine.

i5-4690K, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070, 120GB SSD, 3TB HDD. I can pull off 4K on most games with most settings turned up, and get reasonable frame rates. Although capnjazz would turn it down to 720p with settings turned down so he could get 1000 fps.

I'm surprised no one has posted the specs of the XB1/PS4/Wii U yet. Why so serious? Haha, I wanted to but couldn't find a good way to do it. So yeah. Just google one of those three consoles and you'll know what I'm working with.

I plan to have 32GB of ram on my next design, and a ROG compatible motherboard. Then, I can dedicate 16GB as a ram disk for gaming files to speed up loading of textures and maps.

I'm just waiting for more tech inovations. DDR4, and M2 drives are a start, but the new USB protocol and a new sata protocol are reportedly coming soon as standard equipment.

Haha it's all about future proofing mate! It's predicted in 3 years games will need 25GB RAM for recommended settings.

Also fun fact, the average CPU here is an i7...according to GameDebate that is.

2013's COD Ghosts needed 8GB, 2016's COD IW needs 16GB. It makes sense honestly!

"needs" 16GB? what? that's called a memory leak

I didn't put 32GB RAM in my machine because by the time stuff needs 32GB RAM, we'll be on DDR7-8 RAM and I'll need a new mobo that supports them. I think my mobo right now only supports DDR4

PS4 - It's my favorite among the three. The fact that it gets JRPGs is a big dealbreaker for me because I grew up playing them. I love how you can change your avatar to practically whatever you want (Xbox only has a few you can select from unless you do the mii look-a-like thing), and I also love how you can change your themes for the home screen. Right now I am rocking a FF7 theme which has Cloud in the background (from the remake) with an amazing song playing as well (Aerith's theme, in case you've played the game). Starting up my console with music from my favorite game of all time in the background is an amazing feeling I must say. The DS4 controller is also a huge upgrade over the DS3. They did an amazing job with it and the lights and touchpad are a nice touch. I like how the controller blinks red and blue lights when you're getting chased by cops in GTA lol, for instance. I think it offers the most variety of games than either the Wii U or XB1. It has third party support and first party support but it also gets great Japanese games. Uncharted, The Order 1886, Star Ocean, Sword Art Online Lost Song, Gravity Rush, No Man's Sky, J-Stars Victory VS, and the Last of Us are some of my favorite exclusives. It's also awesome that the original FF7 is now on there and with trophies.

Xbox One - I mainly bought the console for backwards compatibility and I wasn't disappointed. Right away I played the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time and geez, those games are amazing. Mass Effect 2 is my second favorite game of all time and the series is my favorite. The controller is still really good just like the 360 controller was. I do feel like on shooters I get more movement than the PS4, mainly just because the thumbsticks on the PS4 feel a little tighter being so close together. Both controllers are really good though. I also love how I can connect the Xbox One to my cable box. That didn't interest me at all, until I did it and realized I can now watch TV with my headphones on. Since your cable is ran through your Xbox, I can seamlessly switch between my games and TV with no remote and use my headphones through the controller. Really neat feature. Some of my favorite exclusives (well probably the same as everyone else's lol) are Gears of War (Played the series for the first time and really enjoyed it), Forza (best racing game that is out right now to me), Halo, Quantum Break, and Dead Rising (timed exclusive I think). Other than that I just play a lot of the BC games that I missed out on last-gen when I didn't game.

Wii U - The first game I ever played was Super Mario World. I never beat it as a kid though, so what is the first thing I did when I bought a Wii U? I went and beat Super Mario World lol. Virtual console is awesome. What I really love about the Wii U though is the gamepad. Whenever the Texans are playing and I know they are going to suck or be boring (like every game lol), I can play on my
gamepad while I am watching the game simultaneously. Or late at night when I am watching COPS or whatever, I like
playing on my gamepad. The Wii U is hardly ever actually hooked up to my TV because of that. I don't spend as much time on it as the other consoles, but I do enjoy it when I play. I played Zelda for the first time ever on it which you'll probably be shocked by lol. Ocarina of Time, great game. My favorite game is Super Mario Maker, but I also have played Super Smash Bros. (I suck terribly), Mario Kart 8, Lego City Undercover, and New Super Mario Bros. U. I'm still behind on tons of games I want to play like Xenoblade Chronicles (which I own and have never opened) and *gasp* Splatoon which I always wanted to play but haven't done so yet. I honestly might just wait for the Switch for that one. Those are just a couple I really want to play that I haven't. I spend almost all of my Wii U time on Mario Maker.

Anyways, hopefully you were serious about wanting a rundown lol. It wasn't really quick, but hey you've seen my posts they're rarely quick.

Also, sorry Max for taking over the thread! But honestly, you probably would have told me it was worth creating a new thread entirely for.

Yeah. I should have taken more care and time with routing the internal cabling out of the way. On my next build I will do just that. I am going to stick with the blue LED theme as I usually do.

This is the case I am looking to use

I like this post, we should consider making a seperate thread for this...oh wait.

It's purely function and definitely not a looker the big plus is that it's more or less inaudible, even in a lot of VR games

I'll post pics tomorrow (well later, it's kinda morning now)

If you built it yourself and it functions I have no reason to hate it. I am all for functionality over aesthetics and some think tricking out a PC build with cool lights and designer cases is a waste of time and money but to each is own I say. Not many people see my blue glowing tricked out PC because it is in my office and I am the only one that uses it but it is something I like to do when I build a PC for myself so I do it.

I also have a server that is a plain jane build because that is all about functionality and I did not want to spend extra to make it light up and all that. I think it has one blue LED fan in the front that came with the case but nothing fancy.

I've pimped out pc's in the past that's how learned how I like to keep my parts cool (ba-dum-tsch ).

I've just gone all in on effectiveness with this build. I have a closed loop water system on my cpu with a 280 radiator, placed at the end of the windtunnel. The gtx is already running cool from stock and in my windtunnel (or as the dividing wall between two wt's, as it really is) it's running almost ambient temperatures.

My htpc is a nice looking box though, micro atx silverstone case and slim blueray drive

    The top one

So you're not reusing your case? Are you going to keep the old one, or sell it, or something?

I thought about reusing it but it is 7 years old like most of the internal components and does not support USB 3.x. It also does not have a lot of room for a long video card and when upgraded to the Radeon 7970 it is a very tight fit so I wanted a case that had more room for that. Lastly I plan to go liquid cooling this time around and add a radiator and a larger/taller case like the one I chose has plenty of room for all that.

Since I will being a complete rebuild and only reusing my BluRay Drive, a BluRay Writer, and an internal Hard Drive I will probably just clean out the old computer, reapply some new thermal paste and I might give it to my nephew to use since he wants a gaming PC. It still can play some decent games for being 7 year old computer to be honest thanks to the upgraded video card.

Forza Horizon 3 really interests me, aside from that one title though there isn't anything else on it that I'm itching to play as of yet.
Dark Souls is available on backwards compatibility but Digital foundry did a video on it showing that the backwards compatible version has frame pacing problems compared to the original 360 version. And blight town still has all the old problems sadly. So as much as I'm crazy about that game it's sadly inferior to the original 360 version on the XB1.
The XB1 S is a nice model though, I'll wait until the Scorpio is around or for this year's E3 before considering picking one up.
Plus my PS3 is still alive and kicking, and I had a 360 so backwards compatibility isn't going to tip it for me.

With a 1080p monitor, you should be able to max everything out, and still get pretty darned high frame rates. Do those specs mean that you're running two monitors, or what?

I'm not being anti anything but I just wanted to ask why do people say PC gaming is cheaper than console?

Old Xbox one at GameStop I saw for $180 and it can play all the latest games. Grab a year's worth of Xbox live from g2a for $40 or an equivalent and enjoy a year of monthly games alongside solid online. We are now at $220. Pick a game that's on sale as there's always one going on at GameStop every week or the Xbox store.

PC gaming isn't anywhere near as affordable but steam does have great sales and online is "included" with the cost of the hardware and windows license I guess you could look at it that way.

If you go to the PC Master Race Reddit page they have a few builds that are stronger then Xbox One and PS4, but that was at thier $400 price point, no idea if they still have cheaper builds there. Though even then they never factored in the price of Windows or a mouse and keyboard, TBH if you're building a legit PC it is more expensive then console gaming. I think they also like to factor in the price of Xbox Live/PS+, which is free on PC and they like to point out you can upgrade individual parts as the need arises rather then buying an entire new $400 unit.
My reaction when I log on to the site:
