HORI's New GameCube Style Controllers for Switch

The controllers are themed after Mario, Zelda, and Pikachu. -The controllers connect to the Switch's dock via USB

Still, the official controllers are always way better.

I can't believe Nintendo let someone else put out a controller that is licensed with these themes. If Nintendo allowed it, they're probably decent controllers.

No other than the GameCube ones with the boring Smash logo.
We might get a Pro Controller, but a part of me doubts it.

That’s what I am saying, that we will get more official GameCube controllers. Just like when Smash released on Wii U.

Exactly, but people like Tommy will buy them because they are “official”.

I don't think they'd allow them to put Mario and Zelda on something if it were crap.

I never understand why they didn't release the Wii U GC controller as the Wavebird version. Or why this thing isn't! My second Gamecube controller (for my actual GameCube) was an aftermarket wireless one. Do people play with many wired controllers these days?

I won't. I already have four GC controllers, why would I buy this one?
The Smash Wii U GC controllers at least had a more interesting logo than the Ultimate controller.

I think it's for people who play competetively. Something about input lag? I know batteries have something to do with it, but in modern times that really shouldn't be a problem.

I'll probably pick one up anyway if only to use it with other games as well.

Has anyone tried to use their Wii U Gamecube controllers? They're USB, so I wonder if they work in the Switch. Or maybe I'm remembering wrong. Was it some kind of USB hub thing that had inputs for real GC controllers?

It's Nintendo(!), of course there's an intemediary controller adapter...

I see no reason why it won't work with the Switch though.

It does work on Switch. It has worked for a long time.
You can play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with GameCube controllers if you want.

Seems as if HORI aren't the only ones trying to cash in on Smash Ultimate

Similar controllers but in brighter colours and most notably comes with swappable c-sticks, one like on the original GC controller and one that's the same as the left analog stick.

I wonder if they'll work on the Wii U seeing as they're just re-branded versions of the old ones.
