I just took my two boys to McDonald's for lunch. We got a total of two double cheeseburgers, one McChicken sandwich, one small fries, a fruit and yogurt parfait, a 4 piece chicken nuggets, and 3 large drinks, and it was only $10.

I don’t usually like McDonalds, but when returning from vacation my buddy and I stopped at a McDonalds on the way home and I got that new bacon burger. It was actually really good, and the best part about it was that it was a pretty damn big burger. Especially for McDonalds. My buddy got the double quarter pounder, and it actually looked like it was a bigger burger than usual too. I might actually go more often now.

I think I'm gonna go to a McDonalds when I visit Los Angeles next year, just to see if it tastes any different.

I don't really like McDonald's, either. But if I want a cheap lunch, I'll go sometimes and order the value menu stuff. But I agree about that bacon steakhouse burger thing. I tried it once, and it was actually good.

I'm glad they started selling them in bottles/cans cause I never went to Taco Bell much anyway. Didn't know they had a $2 meal plan though, sucks they're getting rid of it. If I want cheap fast food I usually go to McDonalds. It's usually the first thing that pops into my head.

McDonald's is cheap, but nasty. Taco Bell usually also has a $5 box that comes with enough to make you want to throw up from eating too much.

Me too sometimes. Then I always end up remembering why it's a waste of money. I do love their chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, Cokes, and breakfast, though. I need to start remembering that I can get breakfast all day long.

Yeah, their ice cream is real good. I also really like their milkshakes, especially after watching the Founder & learning they put milk back into them. Their nuggets are usually pretty decent, and I haven't not liked a filet-o-fish there yet, either.

Yeah I'll agree about the nuggets, especially with Hot Mustard sauce. I was really disappointed when they got rid of that, and extremely happy when they got it back. And I do like the Filet-o-Fish, too. And I actually did really like the new Smokehouse burger, too. The problem is that I always end up buying their cheap $1 menu crap, which is not very good.

About their ice cream, I like it even better than Dairy Queen's. But I like Dairy Queen's milkshakes better than McDonald's shakes.

Ah, there's our problem. Our DQ in town closed years ago, so the closest one to us is about 15 minutes away by vehicle. I'll have to try out one of their milkshakes next time we're there.

I'm almost 46 years old, and this year was the first time I've ever tried one of their shakes. I really wished I would have had one before now. At least in the one where I live, they're the perfect consistency. When I saw them adding milk to it, I knew I was going to love it. I hate the ones that are so thick it's impossible to suck it through the straw until you give it an hour to melt a little bit. Dairy Queen was awesome.

But other than the shakes, I like McDonald's ice cream better. Although I did just have a Turtle Pecan Cluster blizzard at Dairy Queen the other day that was amazing. I wish McDonald's had more choices for McFlurries.

Sounds like Whataburger milkshakes. Not sure if you guys have those, because it’s mostly a Texas thing. The milkshakes aren’t that great, but the burgers are on point. That’s the one positive I will give Houston, or maybe Texas in general. Our city and state sucks in almost every way, but we do have some damn good food. Also a lot of jobs, evidently.

We don't have Whataburger here. Do you guys have In-and-Out? Everyone talks like they're amazing. I know they're mostly California, but it seem like I've heard they stretch out to Texas. I'd like to try them out, but I dislike California enough to not care to go, even for In-and-Out.

I’m not sure if we do yet or not, but I know we are supposed to be getting one in Houston at some point. As of yet, I have not tried them.

Looks like the closest one to you is 141 miles away, in Pflugerville, TX. If you ever go around there or Austin, try it out, and tell me how it is.

I’ll make a trip. My roommate has been wanting to try it out, too. Maybe we will go during Thanksgiving (we both work for a school district and get a week off).

Also, since this is the drink thread and my own drink thread got lost in obscurity, I tried a margarita for the first time last weekend. Yep. First time. I usually am driving when I go to restaraunts with people, but I was vacationing in South Padre Island this last weekend and our hotel was right next to the Mexican restaraunt we decided to eat at. So we walked, and I figured “why the hell not?” It was pretty damn good. A sweet one with a sugar rim. I want to try another one with a salted rim at some point, but at least I finally took the plunge.

    Haha. I can't stand margaritas.

About In-and-Out, dude, I don't know if I'd drive 150 miles just to try it. If you do go, I hear they have good milkshakes (in accordance with the topic ).

I'd definitely eat In-and-Out if I were driving 150 miles to some cool place to visit, but I'm not sure if I'd drive that far just to go to In-and-Out. My wife went to Dallas on a business trip last year, and she checked it out. But she doesn't give a rip about enjoying food, so it was kind of a waste. My brother used to live in California, and he talks like they're the best.

From what I have heard and seen, I think Whataburger is still probably better. If you ever get the chance, try it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, as long as you don’t go in with the expectations that it’ll turn to gold after digestion. As for In-and-Out, it wouldn’t be my only reason for going somewhere but I would take a day trip up there and find some cool stuff to do with friends. Any chance to get out of Houston is one I will take.
