Thanks guys. So it looks like what I had recorded in association with setting his 3ds up a couple years ago was his NNID and password. I've confirmed his NNID so now I just need to be sure of the password. I've requested a new password, which I've already received. When I get a chance tonight, I will reset the password, and then use this information to set up the wii U. fingers crossed.

don't know why but this thread is showing a second page and everytime I hit the Last button, it stays on page 1. dunno. Anyway, last night was able to enter my NNID and password into the wii u and now the wii u and 3ds are using same NNID. Also changed the temp password to one I chose on my own. I threw a game in the console and it fired up right away. seems like everything is working correctly. Also had to pair the remote motion controller, but couldn't pair the pro controller because the battery was dead. will charge up and pair tonight. So far so good though.

Hi BM! Just wanted to say hello and welcome! I hope your son enjoys his WiiU and maybe you'll play it a bit too? There is nothing wrong with having a slightly older system for a younger gamer; I myself inherited a 2600 from older relatives and really liked it. I didn't see it mentioned in this thread, but the WiiU does play all Wii games, but of course you will need the required controllers, which are usually listed on the back of the box.

    Anyways, don't be a stranger!

Yes agreed. I feel especially with Nintendo it adds to the fun if you somewhat know the people you are playing against online.
Also Bmurray, when you become a member at 100 posts you can have an awesome avatar. Might I suggest something like this?
Bmurray avatar.jpg I even resized it for you so all the hard work is done.

Oops Tommy is right. I was thinking of being able to have pics videos and the ability to have a signature. So bmurray if you so choose right click on the image I have on my previous post. Then select copy image address. Then click on the phrase control panel in the upper right hand corner of the site. On the left side of the next page the will be a column of links, click on the one that reads EDIT AVATAR. In the second section it reads use custom avatar. Click on the button before that phrase to make it a solid dot. Now find the space that says . Click on that space and delete . then paste the image address you copied before. Click save changes.
This will give personality to your profile and make us think you won't be one of those parents that just goes to this place for trouble shooting.

Well that's certainly not complicated at all.

How is about you just give me your username and password bill, I'll get you an awesome FF7 avatar. Haha.

Isn't it much easier to just upload a pic from your computer to use as an avatar? :P
That's what I do all the time. I save a picture from Google and upload it here.
