    Bravely Default: The Flying Fairy

    ...

It is hard to describe my excitement for this game. Those lucky enough to have played it have described it as thus:

-"More Final Fantasy than Final Fantasy."
-"A return to Square Enix roots."

Operation Rainfall added Bravely Default to their campaign, and they consider this localization a . This game is one of the most anticipated RPGs for the 3DS in a long while, and it was a #1 seller in Japan for a significant amount of time.

It was developed by Silicon Studios and published by Square Enix. It was originally released October 11 of 2012 in JP.

    In closing...

    Yeah. I'm excited!

I am much looking forward to it. The game mechanics and story look amazing, and I'm a sucker for any and all RPGs to begin with.

I only care that I'm getting it

At least with Bravely Default: The Flying Fairy I know I'm getting it. NA didn't know we would get 3 Wii games after EU until, literally an avalanche of good news started last year.

I was wondering what this game was all about. Looks pretty interesting. I have to say I'm seriously tempted.

I will preorder and hope Square Enix announced a LE. If they release an 3DS XL bundle, color my wallet red with rage!

    is already localized >_<;

It was the NA release of JP Mother 2. It was released on the SNES in 1995. This is the first time it's been re-released.

Hmm... Though, come to think of it... I only saw the eShop logo during the Bravely Default segment... I didn't hear anything about it going to retail... I hope it does, with a LE

Sorry, I meant localized in a virtual shop. I had this game but I lost it (the REAL cartridge) now at least I can feel little of nostalgia! My brother SURE will play it

I don't see what all the excitement is about (as in why everyone got all worked up over whether or not we'd be getting this game), personally I never doubted that it would get a western release.

Well, a lot of people were worried that an "original" title might not head outside of JP because of lack of brand recognition. Square Enix has been afraid to try new IPs in NA, EU, and AU for a while now. They'll bring their heavy hitters - like Final Fantasy - over while leaving out a lot of very interesting, pop, niche titles.

There are examples of games like Bravely Default for the DS and 3DS that have yet to be localized or even talked about for localization.

In closing, Bravely Default is a new IP without the brand recognition that Square Enix usually localizes outside JP.

Thoughts? Also, do you plan on picking up Bravely Default: Flying Fairy in 2014?

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is on my wishlist, though I'm undecided on whether or not I'll purchase it at the end of the year -- it'll more-than-likely have to wait until 2014.

It's very interesting that Square Enix have chosen to refine and re-release the title in Japan whilst, at they same time, they'll be releasing the untouched, albeit localised, original in PAL regions. I really don't think that reformed controls, an auto-battle mode and increased battle speed options would require extensive localisation, though I could see the 'new events' being time consuming. It just seems odd to release a refined version in one region, only to later release the standard version in other regions.

I agree completely. Also, isn't the game set for a 2014 release everywhere outside of Japan?

It's set for 2014 in North America, and, at the last time I heard anything, Q4 2013 in PAL regions. It was reported for 2014 for PAL regions, but I believe it was later reverted back to 2013.

It was delayed for EU launch, so a lot of people are optimistically looking at it as if NA and EU will get the localized For The Sequel version.

It's Square Enix, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Still, I'll hope for it as well.

Guess what! An official tweet states that Bravely Default: For the Sequel is the version heading to localization in NA, EU, and AU!

Oh, it certainly is great news If you've had the chance to read the thread I started, I mentioned how some reviewers call it "more Final Fantasy than Final Fantasy."

When I heard about Square Enix addressing many of the issues of Bravely Default: The Flying Fairy with For the Sequel, I thought it was both good and bad news. Good because they fixed issues fans had with the game. Bad because we'd have to wait for localization.

Then EU and AU delayed their release date to 2014; though, they may have retracted that. A lot of people thought it was because the improved For the Sequel version was to be localized.

Now we have the definitive answer and the definitive version coming to all shores! Also apparently, For the Sequel - like Pokemon X and Pokemon Y - will ship with multiple languages.

That is one sexy CE. Also, I'd be begging Nintendo to bring it to NA since they are the one who is publishing it.

Well, Nintendo has distributed CE in NA before - like the Ganon figurine. They also still have a few months to announce it as EU gets it December and NA gets it March - I think.
